The Veil

Innkeeper's Darling

Rate this book
Maribel lived in the shadows of the old manor, tucked away on the hills of Casting Cove.
Many say it was haunted.
Many were right.
Cursed and left alone, she roamed the walls of the old home, waiting on the manor’s fate. Then he arrived. Oh, what fun she would have.
Who said curses were a bad thing?

Another perfect novelette from the incomprenable Gracie Cooper. She is an author in a category all her own. Her books are filled with love, lust, desire and so much more. This one has a ghost Maribel in love with a living man named Hugo. The attraction is immediate and foreboding because how could this love continue. I thoroughly encourage you to run, leap over furniture, anything and everything, to acquire and read this book. It’s available in paperback and on Kindle Unlimited.

This book is so cute and a little bit spooky! Very easily can be read in one sitting, super short novella! If you want a blood Mary retelling this is the novella for you!

Release date: Jan 23, 2025 will be available on KU.

Tropes: bloody Mary retelling, forced proximity, spooky vibes, insta-attraction.

Favorite quote: "He really was f**king losing it. Here he was, n@k3d, laughing with a beautiful ghost in his mirror."

This was the first take I’ve ever read about Bloody Mary and I don’t think anyone will ever top it! Seriously, this was so good!
Sure, Maribel has a tragic backstory, but it’s all fun and games until there’s a brief misunderstanding. I loved it!

I know this was only a novella, but I could read pages upon pages about Hugo and Maribel. Their relationship was so interesting!

Super cute little story about a cursed ghost and a human. As with anything Cooper writes, it always has a little Spanish (which I love) and humor. This is a part of the Veil series but can be read as a standalone. Definitely recommend if you're looking for something quick, cute, and a little saucy ;)

This is the sequel to Gargyoles Spring, but is unrelated other than by the veil or the witches. I read it in about 20-30 minutes. It’s only roughly 40 pages. However it’s a really good story, and well written for it only being 40 pages or so. Considering the plot is between a ghost and a man and they have a connection it’s easily told in a mere 40 pages.

Such a cute, short, read. It was a cool spin on Bloody Mary and left me wanting more or Maribel’s story!
