“Of all human weaknesses, obsession is the most dangerous.”
Evenie Lewis knows this all too well. A case of mistaken identity has stolen ten years of her life. When the opportunity arises, Evenie jumps at the chance to escape once and for all. Clueless to her surroundings, she sets out to find her way back home with dreams of reuniting with her family being her motivation. Unbeknownst to her, life as she knew it has changed.
Tyrion Lewis has lost the love of his life. A routine trip to the grocery store left him a heartbroken, single father to a six-month-old little girl. The hope that his wife would be returned to him slowly begins to die. Ten years later, he’s found new hope for a happy future. That is, until he gets the call that his beloved has been found. High off emotions, Tyrion races to bring his wife home. In all the excitement, he forgets one very crucial detail.
Familiar spaces breed familiar feelings, though life for them is anything but what it used to be. What happens when a happy homecoming is thwarted by forces meant to keep the once loving couple apart for good? Will Evenie and Tyrion get their happy ending, or was she better off never being found?

PHENOMENAL. Literally couldn’t put it down, didn’t want to miss a second.
This is love. This is betrayal. This is twists and turns! Short, quick read that hit all of the right places. It's not what I expected from miss Brown, but I've surely learned not to question her work. I'll surely go on any ride that she wants to take me. I haven't found a book by her that I didn't enjoy!
Imagine running to the grocery store to pick up a few items for dinner only to be kidnapped and held captive for 10 years. That’s the reality Evenie is currently living. After prayin’ for a way to escape, the Lord finally came through and answered her prayers. Evenie is reunited with her husband and daughter but, unfortunately, things are not as they were when she was taken. Her six-month-old daughter is a full grown 10-year-old and, her husband has a fiancée he neglected to tell her about. This is not the homecoming Evenie imagined when she escaped her house of horrors.
Tyrion has prayed and held out hope that his wife would be found but, when year six years pass and Evenie is still missing, he realizes he’s gon’ have to do life without her. With the encouragement of his friends and the blessing from Evenie’s parents, Tyrion starts dating again. He meets Iona and she seems to be the perfect fit for him and Summer Rose. One year after proposes to Iona, Tyrion finally gets the phone call he’s been prayin’ for. “Your wife has been found and she’s alive.”
Iona has known since the day she met Tyrion he was emotionally unavailable and still in love with his missing wife. Sis was determined to get that man by any means necessary and she figured if she loved him enough, he would forget all about Evenie. Delusional much?!!! She just needed him to file the divorce papers so they could get married the following year. But, time was not on Iona’s side. The last person she expected to see when she walked in Tyrion’s house was Evenie standing in the living room alive and in livin’ color. Mental psychosis activate. 🥴🥴🥴🥴
If You Love Me was a great read. I loved the twists and turns of the storyline and that plot twist just about took me out. 🤯🤯🤯🤯 These characters are going to tug at your heartstrings. You’ll sympathize with Evenie, you’ll be frustrated with Tyrion and wanna cuss him out, you’ll fall in love with lil miss Summer Rose, and you'll wanna put them paws on Iona’s crazy azz. She most definitely earned her flowers as the villain of this story. Iona was channeling her inner Ziva and, she almost did a better job than Ziva did. Speakin’ of Ziva, we got to catch up with Eliana, Malachi, and Violet and they are thriving. They’ve added twins to the family and our sweet girl Violet is now a 17-year-old junior in college. I can’t. 😩😩😩😩 If you have not read this book yet, add it to your TBR expeditiously.
3.5⭐️ - what a rideeeeeeee. All I’m going to say is buckle up. Because just when you think everything is okay it’s a crazy lady waiting to take your spot
Wow I crashed out a couple times reading this😭. I was NOT expecting that plot twist at all!! This was so good and very well written. Had me on the edge of my seat the entire time I did NOT want to put it down! I was ready to put the brakes on Iona multiple times she had me so f*cked up!!. I highly recommend especially to all of my romantic thriller/suspense lovers.
Talk about a crazy ride.. kidnappings (yes, plural), murder, obsession. I loved every bit of this messy a book! Moral of the story, if your spouse goes "missing", just wait for them Imfao don't try to move on.
This was a lifetime movie, but with black people 😂
3.5 "I wanted just a little bit more... depth, I guess."
Wow! I really don't know how I feel about this one. On the one hand, I was completely enthralled with this story. Parts of it were so good. On the other hand, I feel like the author only scratched the surface of what this story could have been. I wanted more of how Evanie felt after her tragedy. I wanted a more intense escape scene. I wanted a more intense final conflict. I don't know... Hopefully this is the story the author wanted to write. I just have to accept she didn't want to go further into the trauma.
As far as the love story parts, I do think those were great. I loved Evanie as a character. And her best friend Nina. I absolutely loved Summer Rose. What a sweet child. Overall, I liked this one. If you dive in, just read it for what it is and don't ask for more. Happy reading!
I found this to be a very compelling story and so heart-breaking in many ways. This was an unconventional love triangle where there was no foul on anyone's part but it ended up to be so complicated. I knew so quickly who I was rooting for and boy did the party I wasn't rooting for escalate.
If you're a fan of Taylor Jenkins Reid's One True Loves I think you'd like this one.
*note on previous thoughts on this author being overtly pro-gun and ramming that down the reader's throat. That was prevalant again but this time it had a little more relevance. However, this reoccurance means I am unlikely to read this author again. I am not here to be fed nonsense on guns.*
4.5- I know i say this almost every review i do for a Kim book but baby, Kim be WRITING!!! This story was nothing short of her gifted imagination.
I listened to this via Libby.
I love that we got all povs. Stuff like that really makes a story whole. The narrators did an amazing job. What Evenie went through is anyones worst nightmare. I liked her journey back into the world and into the arms of people that love her. She ain’t no punk neither. Tyrion did what he thought was right but I could feel the struggle he had. Nonetheless he was an amazing father.
Now Iona i was not expecting her to be such a person. Kim wrote her very well. Iona’s whole story had my jaw dropped. She and her family were wrong. There are certain things people need to know before going into a relationship with you. The twist i don’t think was needed.
Favs: -Loved Summer’s character and hope she kept her mom alive. -Zina is my kinda friend. -The papers and U-Haul scene. -The school scene lmao!
This was such a good read. There was times of shouting "I know that's right" to "what the hell". It gave just the right about of romance and thriller all in one.
WOW what in the Lifetime movie is this?! Imagine saying goodbye to your husband and 6-month-old daughter to run a quick grocery errand and then getting kidnapped for 10 years. That’s the nightmare Evenie lived through. What kept her going all those years is the thought of her family. Tyrion mourned the loss of his wife. Though he never stopped loving her, he eventually chose to move forward with Iona, a woman he decides to build a future with. But when Evenie escapes and returns home, he finds himself torn between the wife he thought he lost forever and the fiancée he's promised a future to. Iona is one crazy woman and Tyrion has no idea she’s battling borderline personality disorder, and when Evenie returns, she goes completely off the rails. This story gave obsession vibes.
I'll need to collect my thoughts first. You all, this author is bringing the heat with each new release. What happened to Evenie was unthinkable. I was sad at first about Tyrion moving on with his life, even with in his wife's predicament. I was like... What are you doing Man! Nothing prepared me for the drama with Iona. We should have known she was off-road kooky sooner. Summer Rose was my little hero in the end. She prayed for and received everything she asked her parents for in her dreams. I loved this story.
I must say that this was a page Turner. I literally could not put this book down. I needed to know what happened every step of the way when I say I was so shocked stunned and slapped in the face, this gave me lifetime movie network and baby I love me a lifetime movie ! 5 Stars ⭐️
A suspenseful psychological romance novel! Why was I over here screaming at this book??? I was so happy when she was running away and hollered when she ran out of gas. Y'all just read the damn book.
This was crazy!!!! I felt so bad that woman had been missing for 10 years. It was amazing she was finally able to be freed and reunited with her family , now to come home to a crazy person lol was something else. That girl was not wrapped tight lol and I’m glad she didn’t just hand over her family to the hoe. This was a good shocking twist and turns kinna book overall really good
This book was psychologically pleasing and Ms. Kimberly Brown should teach a course on PTSD because job well done. I’ve read too many books where characters have been kidnapped but it lacked depth. Where’s the triggers? Lasting effects of trauma? Etc… This book did a fantastic job of walking us through the process of getting reacclimated.
Kimberly delivered a masterpiece. 10/10 - not notes
A fast paced thriller romance that follows Evenie , who is kidnapped and held captive for ten years after just giving birth to her 5 month old baby, and her journey back to normalcy after escaping and realizing her husband is engaged to another woman !
The plot twists in this is insane and had my jaw literally dropping left to right .
I tried to give Evenie grace because she sure as hell went through it. I get how upsetting it could be coming home knowing your husband had moved on. But alot of times to Tyrion frankly Eve was just a straight asshole. I can understand Tyrion head being messed the fuck up and did he handle everything perfectly no but he gave Eve space and grace to heal but she definitely didn't reciprocate anything. She made their situation between one another more hostile. And her saying she would of waited if the roles were reversed is bullshit. She don't know wtf she would of done if she had of been the one for 10 years in Tyrion shoes. It's easy to say the coulda, shoulda, woulda's, that may have happened when you didn't experience it on that end. I feel like he had every right to move on just maybe with someone who was mentally stable because baby Iona should of been locked up.
5⭐️ ”no matter what happens, no matter the circumstance, i will never not wait for you again. if i can’t be with you in this life, i’ll just wait until i can be with you in the next.” 🥹
tyrion james lewis, evenie jade lewis, and summer rose captivated my heart in this book, immediately!
evenie goes to the grocery store leaving her husband tyrion and her 6 month old daughter summer rose at home. that night, she is unfortunately kidnapped and held captive while her family grieves the loss of her, not knowing where or what happened to her. however, 10 years later she’s able to escape, but she comes home to a completely different life than what she was expecting.
hooked from the start is not even the wordddd to describe how into this book i was! i knew once i was crying less than 15% in that this book was gonna be THE ONE. the suspense, the romance, the drama, the comedy, the characters! everything was so good 🔥.
i love how tyrion treated his family, that man was NOT playing when it came to his wife and his daughter at all. and neither was evenie, watching her come out of her trauma and be able to overcome it was so beautiful. the whole dynamic of friendship and family in this book was just so so good.
i didn’t go into this expecting it to be as suspenseful as it was, but as a girly who loves reading romantic suspense books i’m not complaining at all. cause baby that plot twist? crazy.
iona was… whew 😳😳. i don’t even know. that’s why it’s important to prioritize mental health no matter what’s going on in your life.
overall this was so good, i have no complaints. i loved it, i wanna read it again already.
This was honestly so sad and Tyrion kept pissing me off, like how many signs did he need to leave Iona ass. He reminds me of Josiah from Before I Let Go, both dumb as fuck 😒 I get he had the right to move on and all that but that man was still head over heals for Evenie, literally forgot about Iona his Fiance when Evenie was found. Also don’t care if he was still engaged to Iona, I don’t like he slept with her after Evenie was back, that scene irritated my soul 😡 Honestly Evenie better than me, he would’ve had to grovel more than he did to get me back 🤷🏾♀️ I’m petty, IDC😂😂😂 Evenie is so strong, I’m glad she was able to take her life back, and have a great relationship with her daughter.
This was so good, kept me on the edge of my seat and the plot twist had my mouth on the ground.
