Ella Dark #13

Een Meisje Vermist (Een Ella Dark FBI Thriller—Boek 13)

Rate this book

I’m so frustrated with this series. I was hooked by the story throughout the books about Ella’s dad, but it has been such a slow process figuring anything out. Also, I know exactly what will happen in each book because I swear it’s the same exact template for each book! The only reason I’ve made it this far is cause I’m too curious about Ella’s dad for my own good.

This series is starting to really annoy. Ella is supposed to be this remarkable agent; Young for being in the field and having this gift due to and eidetic memory… but she somehow isn’t able to deduce some other most obvious things? Like maybe talk to your boyfriend about ANYTHING? Or maybe the strange old man that you talked to and told you to go to an old factory might just be behind the your attack at the same factory.. I just can’t even with this.

And just some of the things in this particular book were an eye roll… like any agent would bring a man with severe PTSD and anxiety to the crime scene of his dead ex girlfriend… pa-lease!

And now the series just went from 16 books to 21… how much longer can this story of finding her dads killer go on? Ella has become such an annoying character and I think it’s time we wrap up the series and call it a night. Please.

I found the case to be just ok in this one, did like the secret track bit, but was more interested in what happened to Ella at the start of the book and what went down at the end of the book about Ella's dad. Now more than ever I want to know what is being hidden and why. I'm also glad that Ella knows she was betrayed so she can hopefully not be caught unaware again.

This book was pretty good with a musical killer however the case isn’t what had my attention . My main focus was who set Ella up and why ? She shared what happened to Ripley and the coke to agree it was Dennis the old man she was talking to that probably set her up . In the next book I hope we find out more about him or the why .

This is the first book I read out of the series and I didn’t feel like I missed anything by doing so. I’m not even sure why I picked this book to read. But anyway, you don’t seem to need to read all the prior books in the series to understand what’s going on here.

I found that the book did miss something though. The story was interesting enough in that it is an FBI agent solving a series of murders where the killer’s calling cards are old record players. But a lot of it just seemed cheesy. There were a lot of puns and one liners that didn’t really seem necessary. And the FBI agent didn’t seem to have a lot of common sense. The whole side stories with her father and boyfriend I’m sure carried over from book to book. But everything g was explained pretty well with that too.

Not a favorite of mine this year but I still found somewhat entertaining.

Ella and he almost retired partner are sent to solve the murders of 2 people in San Francisco a place that her partner hates. Each scene has a very old record player and a handmade record placed at the scene. They think it's just to play music really loud so the bodies are found but there ends up being a lot more to the whole set up and it's just a chance happening that lets them in on the secret and the culprit.

Old record players and vinyl records

Someone is stabbing victims repeatedly, and letting them collapse and remain in whatever position they landed in. Then an old record player and a vinyl record at full blast audio draws curious neighbors to the scenes to find the bodies. I usually can figure out at least some of the clues in each of Blake Pierce's books, but this one kept me guessing until the end. There is a wonderful cliffhanger at the end, too.

An intriguing plot where music and crime are intertwined, and at first, the victims (apart from music) are not related in any way. Fast-paced, the story also sheds a little more light on Ella's personal life. Well-written, this story got me hooked from the beginning.
I thank the author for this ARC.

Missing

Lot of action in this book 13 Loved it. Finished book 12 and didn't stop this one till done. Exciting. Thought we'd get the final truth about Ella's dad but looks like I have to read on. Can't wait to get started. Glad for Ella and Ben. And for Mia's new adventure.

Always love Ella and Mia Ripley together. I don't know what they are going to do when Mia Ripley retires. This was another good book with an interesting plot. I love Blake Pierce's series. I love that there are women heroines. I can't wait to find out if they finally uncover why Ella Dark's father was killed.

Ella Dark does it again!

I enjoy reading the Girl series. Ella Dark is now one of my favorite heroines. Girl, Missing was an exciting and interesting story. For a minute I didn't think Ella and Ripley would solve this one.

Forced my self to finish this book just because I wanted to find out 'who did it'. Very dragged out and boring. Skipped over a lot if it. First books in the series were so good - this book was disappointing. Have high hopes for the next ones in the series.

A decent read if you don't mind a bit of déjà vu.Dark's journey has more recycled twists than a soap opera marathon. While it gets repetitive, it still manages to be an engaging page-turner for thriller fans.

I love this series so much, and I won’t stop stating it. It’s so fast paced, 20 or 21 books in total and it’s always something new in each book but also the same mystery in everyone hiding beneath the surface.

Frankly, not good. When you refer to the Grail as being the weapon that pierced the side of Christ, what else is there to say? Records stated to be of “shellac” are later said to be of “vinyl.” Recordings of classic pieces are referred to as “covers.” There are no original recordings of Beethoven to “cover”! Laughable descriptions of law enforcement and a ridiculous plot. Avoid this.

Fast paced

All the accurate information of music, was really well thought out. I found myself reading faster at the climax at the ending. A must read. I’m amazed at Ella and how often, every book, she gets injured but not hospitalized.

Ready for the next one!

This might be my favorite book in the series so far. I really enjoyed all the attention to detail regarding the musical component to the mystery. Well done!

Books are too short.

After paying for kindle unlimited and paying for the book...would it be too much to ask that you provide page numbers?

Didn’t enjoy this book or book 12 as much as I’ve enjoyed the others. Needed more serial killer references (Ella’s Rolodex).

Just ok

I love Blake's books. But, for me it wasn't as thrilling as the first 12. If you enjoy musical themes, this might be very exciting to you.

But.

Ella is a great main character. BUT all of the plots are basically the same. It would be nice to see some changes.

This one was just as good as the others, and not quite as predictable. I enjoyed the little twist in the end. I am a bit upset with myself for not realizing that I skipped book 12.
