As the title suggests, this anniversary edition covers the invasion of Europe at the US beaches of Omaha. The build up, landing, chaos of getting off the beaches are discussed. The coverage continues under the consolidation of the beachhead a week later. It includes tons of photos, maps and photographic maps. GREAT READ.

My father was with the 2nd Ranger Btn, Company D, to capture Pointe du Hoc. An amazing account of some of the things he went through, but seldom, if ever, spoke about.

Very detailed account of the invation of Normandy focusing on the happenings of Omaha beach and beyond to Saint-Lô, Caen, and Bayeux. Gives a good detail of the distruction and disorganization that each unit had to endure while landing on the beach.
Also gives a good detail of the German side from accounts that were compiled from captured soldiers and documents.
