'Beckett's Fate' is the second book in Delta James' "Silver Falls Shifter" series. This installment provides an intimate look at Sheriff Beckett Gray, the sheriff of a town inhabited by shifters and the Alpha of the Silver Falls Pack of wolves. Alongside him is Irene Blakiston, a wolf-shifter, archaeologist, and an Alpha in her own right, leading a pack of four female wolf-shifters who have come together to form their group in Superstitious, AZ.

Irene possesses her ancestor's journal, which contains an original hand-drawn map indicating the location of a valuable silver treasure. Her small pack is struggling to survive, and this treasure could provide their needed resources. Determined to secure it, she travels to Silver Falls, masking her scent and pretending to be a hiker passing through the area.

Beckett, often referred to as Beck, recognizes Irene's scent as his fated mate, but he senses something unusual about both her scent and her story. The more he observes her, the more trouble she seems to attract, particularly from hunters. But what are they hunting for? Is it the shifters of the town, the silver, or Irene herself?

This storyline weaves together good, bad, and evil in a way that only Ms. James can deliver. Not only does it culminate in a happy ending, but it also sets the stage for the next story, 'Flint's Fate,' which I am eagerly looking forward to.

Great book. Irene has taken upon herself to go to Silver Falls to find the lost treasure that her ancestor has left clues for and a save her pack. She is greeted by Beckett who is the sherriff and the Alpha of the pack of shifters. He senses that there is more to Irene and that there is something off from her scent. This book is full of danger as Irene runs into some hunters, mixed emotions as Beckett and Irene dance around each other and a happy ending for everyone. I enjoyed reading this book.

RESPECT AND CURIOSITY RATHER THAN SUSPICION OR JUDGMENT

The story is part of the Silver Falls Shifters and the two main characters are Irene Blakiston, an outsider, and Beckett Grey, Alpha and Sheriff of the Silver Falls. The town of Silver Falls is steeped in mystery and legends—but more than that, it is a town of shifters of all kinds.

Irene Blakiston of Superstition Mountains, Arizona is an archaeologist and with the family heirloom journals of her ancestor, she thinks she can find the silver in Silver Falls, Colorado. She knows that town is full of shifters and wants to mask her scent, so she can pose as an avid hiker, just there to enjoy the area.

Beckett ‘Beck’ Grey is not only the sheriff of Silver Falls, but also the alpha of the pack. He is a man who must deal with decisions, the law, and protecting the shifters who live here, but also the humans who come to the area to visit. It is a delicate balance to maintain.

The story will have Irene speaking to the other four women who live in the Superstitions as an all-female pack. She has decided she must go to Silver Falls, Colorado, and follow the map and notes left by her ancestor, Isaiah Blakiston. Her reservation at the Bristlecone Bed & Breakfast will have Ruby on alert, something is just off about her. She must play her part as hostess, answering Irene’s questions. Even Beck is leery of her intentions.

“Be careful out there. There are things in these woods that don’t take kindly to strangers.”

Des: What’s going on?
Beck: The hunters are still here. A group of them are camping on the far side of the river. Not close enough to be an immediate threat, but close enough to watch.
Des: What else?
Beck: A she-wolf. Not one of ours. She’s out there. I caught up with her, but she slipped away. Masked her trail.
Des: Masked her trail? Clever.
Beck: Too clever. But she’s alone, and the hunters are a problem. Make sure the pack knows to stay on high alert. I’ll deal with whoever she is.
Des: I’ll send out patrols. You think she’s connected to the hunters?
Beck: No way. But she’s drawing attention, and I have no idea if she knows what she’s dealing with. That makes her a problem.

The story has the good, the bad, and the evil in this fast-paced, action-packed mystery suspense. Irene will be caught between finding the silver, hunters, and her fated mate. Beck must protect the town, his pack, and now, Irene, who he realizes is his fated mate who is searching for the elusive silver treasure. They will battle against evil, learn to trust one another, and finally acknowledge that fate has indeed brought them together.

Beck: You’re shaking.
Irene: I’m not. It’s the night air.
Beck: Hmm. You’ve faced hunters, uncovered lost treasure, and fought by my side, and this makes you nervous?
Irene: It’s different. This—this is real.
Beck: This is us, Irene. Our pack, our home. And it’s just the beginning.

“Tonight, we honor the bond of mates and the blending of packs. We welcome new sisters into our fold and we celebrate the strength of unity.”

While the story does not end on a cliffhanger—it does segue into a new story of Flint Mercer who will challenge and take over the Wildhaven Clan, by fighting Silas for the role of alpha.

Flint: Silas. You’ve led this clan into ruin. Young males exiled. She-cats used as bargaining chips for alliances they didn’t want. It ends now.
Silas: You’ve been gone too long, Mercer. This clan isn’t yours—it never was.
Flint: That’s where you’re wrong. Step down, Silas. I won’t ask again.
Silas: If you want my place, you’ll have to take it. I’ll show everyone here why I’m still their alpha.
Flint: So be it.

3.75stars--BECKETT’S FATE is the second instalment in Delta James’ contemporary, adult SILVER FALLS SHIFTERS erotic, paranormal, romance series focusing on the shifters of Silver Falls. This is alpha Sheriff Beckett ‘Beck’ Grey, and wolf shifter/archeologist Irene Blakiston’s story line. BECKETT’S FATE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an ongoing premise throughout.

SOME BACKGROUND: There is a story, a myth surrounding Silver Falls , a town of shifters protecting a missing treasure of silver. Humans cannot be trusted, and outside shifters are usually looking for trouble. The treasure is connected to the original shifters, and Beck Grey is determined to protect the town at all costs.

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Beck and Irene) BECKETT’S FATE follows in the wake of the arrival of our story line heroine. Irene Blakiston is a wolf shifter and an archeologist but a woman with a secret. Hunting for the mythological missing treasure of silver, Irene finds herself facing down not only a group of human hunters but the Sheriff and alpha of the Silver Falls Pack. Enter Beck Grey, Irene Blakiston’s fated mated, and the man who is desperate to protect the woman he loves. Irene is a bit of a hot head; refuses to stand down, and is struggling to trust any man, including the man that calls to her wolf.

The world building focuses on the search for buried treasure, and the human hunters stalking our story line couple. Irene and her ‘pack’ tend to keep to themselves, and in this, Irene is determined to lay claim to the treasure in Silver Falls.

The relationship between Irene and Beck begins when Irene goes on the hunt in Silver Falls. Armed with a map, determined to protect the people she left behind, Irene will come face to face with her future, her fated mate in the guise of Sheriff Beckett Grey. Fighting together to protect the town’s secrets as well as their own, Irene quickly discovers it is better to work together than to work alone. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are re-introduced to Ruby and Knox (Knox’s Fate 1) as well as housekeeper Delilah.

BECKETT’S FATE is a story of magic and mystery, secrets and lies, power and control, greed and mistrust. The fast paced premise is enchanting and dramatic; the romance is fast and furious; the characters are determined and charismatic.

If I could I would give this a 3.5 stars rating. What I liked was that Irene was an independent woman and leader of her own, all women, pack! How awesome is that! I also liked the twist in how silver was important to the history of shifters and the packs. This was definitely something that could have made this story even better, at least to me since I have not read other shifter books with this twist to silver. There were a couple things that did not sit well with me. One being that the female character is an independent woman that has had a background of trying to get away from a pack that was trying to force her into a mating she didn’t want or an abusive pack, this was not clarified unless I missed it. This being her history I felt that when she said no to her fated mate right before he marked her as his mate he should have been understanding of her feelings and she should have been more upset about it. There were times when I felt that some things needed more explanation. I felt a little sad that I did not enjoy this book as much as others by Delta James. It felt like this one was rushed to be written or like when you have a flow going when writing and someone interrupts you and you just have to complete the thought differently.

I still think that if you have read her other books and enjoyed them, you should read this and make your own opinion about this book because we may not always agree. Overall I still enjoyed them story line and would like to read more through the eyes of one of the ladies from the all she-wolf pack.

A captivating read that will hold you riveted, the characters and plot are simply excellent reading
From almost the very start of this story Beckett and Irene have to fight against the attraction they feel as Fated Mates and then also Irene was aware that as the Alpha and Sheriff of Silver Falls, he is a man that can be trusted and shows this in so many different ways.
Irene has travelled to the small town in an attempt to save her small pack of female shifters and Irene knows that Beckett is trying to help her succeed at her search and also to keep the hunters that were trying to capture her at bay.
The bravery that the pair showed at the way in which the individuals of Silver Falls came together to assist with keeping the hunters that were determined to capture Irene at bay and this reminded Irene of her own small pack of shifters and the way in which they would do anything keep each other safe.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story behind Irene and her small pack of shifters and their reason for trying to locate the treasure believed hidden within the land at Silver Falls, this has been hunted without success for several generations.
This was a captivating read and I look forward to further mentions of Irene and Beckett in future books of Silver Falls, the author hhas a wonderful ability of keeping readers on their toes always guessing what will occur in future books by this author.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

Of course, Beckett and Irene were going to clash, both being Alpha personalities. Irene was on her solo quest to find the silver to save her pack, and she tried to hide from Beckett at every turn, even exposing herself to danger.

I never got the sense that Irene felt Beckett was going to try and steal from her. I felt like she was so determined to be independent that she wasn't as thoughtful about her safety. I liked that Beckett's goal was to help Irene and protect her.

I enjoyed the suspense of Beckett and Irene attempting to either avoid or stay one step ahead of the hunters. Even the ultimate battles were suspenseful. I knew Beckett and Irene would survive, but at what cost?

I liked the premise of the silver being more than a mineral but a power within itself. Irene and Beckett's story may have ended with a HEA, but I imagine the story of the hunters' pursuit of the silver will continue.

If I had a wish about this book, it would have been more involvement from Irene's pack. Also, an explanation to her pack about her change in circumstances and their opportunity to change their circumstances. It would have been interesting to hear their reactions to the changes.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Beckett Grey is pack alpha and sheriff of Silver Falls, when he crosses paths with Irene Blakiston it doesn't take long for him to realize that she is more than a hiker visiting to hike the trails. Irene is in Silver Falls to find the legendary treasure of Silver Falls that has remained hidden for so long that most people don't believe it exists. But she needs to find that treasure in order to secure the future of her small pack of shifters. Unfortunately, Irene isn't the only one searching for the treasure and those other treasure hunters won't hesitate to kill anyone who stands in their way. When Beckett realizes that Irene is his mate and she refuses to stop searching, he will do anything necessary to protect her. This is a steamy shifter/fated mates romance with some action, violence, and some interesting twists. Quick read with wonderful characters and a happily ever after. I recommend this book to other fans of this author.

Beckett, the sheriff and Alpha of Silver Falls Pack, has his hands full. There's a stranger in town and she's wreaking havoc on his mind and concentration. Add to the mix some hunters intent of sticking around, and Beckett is one busy Alpha.

Irene is determined to locate her ancestor's treasure. Her latest map sends her to Silver Falls. She thinks she's prepared for what's coming, for what she'll find. She couldn't be more wrong. The Enigmatic sheriff sees more than she'd like him too, and he's ALWAYS there. Irene can't let herself be distracted from her goal, her pack is counting on her. What happens when she has no choice but to acknowledge that Beckett's presence is necessary for success, the dangers are simply to great without him.

This book is full of intrigue abd mystery. The treasure of Silver Falls continues to Haunt the mountain. Will Bexkett and Irene discover its secret or will they be lost to its mystery too? I'm thrilled to have gotten the opportunity to voluntarily provided this review to a gift copy of this book. Happy Reading Y'all 📚

Sheriff Becket (Beck) Grey is the sheriff in Silver Falls, a community of shifters and he is also the alpha of the pack. Irene Blakiston is the alpha of her small female pack who live in another area. They are in desperate need of money to survive, and Irene decides to pretend to be a hiker and travels to Silver Falls to find hidden silver. She follows the map left to her by one of her ancestors and that is where her real story begins.

Beck knows she isn't just a hiker and is hiding something, but what? He follows her in the forest and sees that she is seeking certain markers. He is concerned that she is in danger from human hunters who are searching for the silver. Irene is very stubborn and won't stop her quest. Beck is a very stubborn alpha, whose quest is to keep Irene safe.

It's very engaging story of a battle of wills and survival, not only for Irene but for here small female pack, as well. As always, Delta James crafts a story that grabs the reader from the very first page. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Beckett left the military to take his father’s place as alpha when he died and was sheriff too. Irene came to his mountain from Arizona looking for the treasure that her ancestor wrote about in his journal and gave clues how to find the treasure. Beckett saw her uncover some ruins that she shouldn’t have known about he looked her up and found nothing, Irene also covered up her scent so people would think she was human. Beckett would follow her and watched her find more clues then he knew she was looking for the lost treasure. She overheard some hunters talking about the treasure, had to fight them a couple of times then Beckett decided to help her. She needed that treasure for her pack of abused women, he told her if there was a treasure she could have it. Beckett scented her scarf the first time she went missing and knew they were mates, the treasure was found and she had to decide what she really wanted.

Irene is a wolf shifter and leads a pack of females who have been abused and discarded from their birth packs. She desperately needs to find them an income source if they are to survive. She has evidence of a lost silver mind in Colorado and leaves her pack in search of it. Since the locals are all shifters, she has to use a scent blocker to keep her wolf hidden. Coming into Silver Falls as a human hiker will keep her from having to explain what she is really doing there. But it turns out that the local sheriff is her mate, and Beckett has no intention of letting her wander around alone when there is danger in the area. Hunters have been spotted and these particular ones are not just there looking for shifters, they are also looking for the long-lost silver.

Lots of shifter versus human battles. Also, hot alpha shifter sexcapades. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Irene is an independent she-wolf determined to find a century old hidden treasure to help secure her pack of she-wolves future. She encounters Silver Falls’ sexy sheriff, Beckett, and his determination to protect her while figuring out what she’s up to because he recognizes her as his fated mate.

The story is engaging with two strong lead characters with an attraction that sizzles but doesn’t overwhelm the story. They have a few encounters in the woods and deal with danger from hunters who are after both the silver treasure and shifters.

I enjoyed the sassy banter/flirting and push/pull between them. They are well matched and while there is a hint if a battle for dominance, Beckett respects her independence and seeks her partnership versus her submission.

I definitely enjoyed this story and am interested in the next book in this series.

The lure of a long lost treasure will bring everyone out of the woodwork and those hoping to protect the secret may be able to keep the secret. Irene is looking for the treasure in order to protect her pack. To do that, she must go to Silver Falls. Under the disguise of being an avid hunter, she uses a book in her possession to help her find it. Beckett, the local law, does not trust her excuse, but finds himself conflicted when he realizes she is his fated mate. Then throw in the hunters who know there are shifters out there and are also looking for the treasure. Time after time, Beckett finds himself saving Irene. And every time he does, the steamy level between the two increases. But in order to keep Silver Falls safe from the hunters, they will need to work together. A very fast paced danger packed story. Enjoyable!

Silver Fall's Shifter Book Two. This one was Irene and Beckett's story. I liked Beckett's character. He's a standard alpha. Knox and Ruby make appearances. Irene's character was hard to like. The whole hiking hunt for the silver dragged on for too long. The origins of her pack and why Irene was there was never explained. It left a lot lacking. The end when Irene and Beckett finally got together and fought the hunters was good. The fact that it was a wolf shifter was the real disappointment. It didn't live up to the other wolf shifters, but I think it was Irene's character. She didn't go anywhere in development. Delta James has an uncanny ability to create a sense of place and it's inhabitants that almost always draws the reader in to that place, no matter how unusual it feels at first.

Beckett is the sheriff of Silver Falls and Irene is an archeologist. They are also alpha's of their own packs, hers a group of females who've been threatened or abused in their origin packs. Her pack needs financing and her ancestor's journal promises them silver at Silver Falls. When she goes there to find the elusive treasure, a group of hunters is searching for the same treasure.

Tight narrative, compelling characters. What more do you want in a good read?

Irene, trying to save her pack, decides to tackle the trail at Silver Falls. Following the entries in a diary, she is sure she will find the treasure. However a small community has their eyes and ears to the ground for any strangers and their routines. Beckett is the sheriff and alpha of his pack and is not going to abide random hikers and especially not hunters after more than buck. Sometimes treasure is not the coin.
This author had me ducking and diving to avoid the shots, but stubborn Irene would have her way. As always, the characters would lie dormant if not for the talent and audacity of the one who is willing to tell the tale.

A shifter version of King Solomon's Mine

Irene is a woman on a mission, to save her group of she-wolves, she has to find the silver hidden by one of her ancestors. To accomplish this she has to disguise the fact she is a shifter in a town of shifters

Beck realises immediately that Irene is not what she claims to be and takes to watching her.

Irene's faith in her family's legacy is inspirational, Beck's steadfastness is admirable. They compliment each other.

Their story has intrigue, a relationship that begins with distrust soon changes to mutual respect to passionate. It's actually a heartwarming short read.

I completely loved this book. Beckett is a typical Delta male. Strong and honest willing to protect those that look to him to lead but also ready and willing to open himself up to love. Irene was strong and capable but so tired, leading her group of wounded women keeping them safe and together and protecting them. She and Beckett are the perfect alpha pair they are strong but not afraid to show the love they feel for each other and they open their arms and hearts to all who need them. The hunters will be back but the silver will have moved on to another hiding place to wait until once again it is needed.

I loved everything about this story. The storyline is well thought out and presented in such a manner that it kept my interest until the end. Together Irene and Beck are forces to be reckoned with and when they meet he recognizes her as his fated mate. Their HEA was not immediate and there were struggles along the way and especially the danger from the hunters. It’s a great story to read and I can’t wait to read the next story in this series. This story will not disappoint, especially if you have an interest in shifters.

Irene Blakiston has her grandfather's journal and a map which give clues to the lost silver of Silver Falls. She wants the silver to save her pack. She masks her sent so that the shifters of Silver Falls will not recognise that she is a wolf shifter.

Beckett Grey who is the sheriff of Silver Falls senses that Irene is hiding something. His wolf recognises that she is his fated mate.

As Irene searches for the silver, she falls into danger as there are hunters after her and the silver.

Beckett and Irene were destined to butt heads and they do at every turn. Irene has secrets and, despite developing feelings for Beck, is so entrenched in her role protecting her “pack” of she-wolves that she is not only unreasonable but continues to take reckless chances. Beck, too, is stubborn and kind of arrogant but he does recognize Irene as his fated mate and focuses his attention on keeping her safe, even when she thinks she doesn’t need it. It took a while for the story/relationship to get going but there was a lot of action, danger and mystery getting there.

This is another exciting read that takes a shifter gal on a journey to discover a lost silver mine to help her all-female pack out. Irene poses as a hiker but she has purpose, finds things she shouldn't and ends up courting danger, time and again. Pack alpha and sheriff, Beckett, is intrigued by the mysterious Irene, and when he saves her time and time again, their fated mate bond grows very obvious ;) These two are caught up in a race to find the silver, and the magic it possess, with dangerous hunters... These two do get their hot HEA but the hunters are still out there ;) I can't wait for the next book to see how this plot will continue to unfold. Good fun!

This is the 2nd book of the Silver Falls Shifters by Delta James and this is Irene Blakiston (Alpha of her own Superstition Mountains pack/archaeologist/fated mate) and Beckett 'Beck' Grey (Alpha/Sheriff of the Silver Falls) story. The town of Silver Falls is steeped in mystery/legends but more than that, it is a town of shifters of all kinds. They meet when she is looking for silver to help her pack to survive so she masks her scent, poses as an avid hiker but gets sprung by Becks! Add in hunters who are also after said silver and you have a great story. So sit back and enjoy the outcome.

Beckett's Fate is the second book in Delta James's Silver Falls Shifters and will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. It is full of mystery, suspense, lost treasure, family, good versus evil, greed and fated mates. These characters are well crafted and intriguing and you will love how strong Irene is and how alpha and protective Beck is. The story building is intense and extremely detailed as only Delta James can do. The family quality will keep you coming back for more. The chemistry is strong between the main characters and it is offset by the respect they have for each other. Very well done.
