Rate this book
A kidnapping, a shooting, a baby, and three lives in the balance. After suffering a personal tragedy Abby Sullivan buys seaside mansion, packs up her life in San Francisco, and moves to Holiday Bay, where she is adopted, quite against her will, by a huge Maine Coon Cat named Rufus, a drifter with her own tragic past named Georgia, and a giant dog with an inferiority complex named Ramos. What Abby thought she needed was alone time to heal. What she ended up with was, an inn she never knew she wanted, a cat she couldn't seem to convince to leave, and a new family she'd never be able to live without.

In book 33 in the series, Georgia's kidnapped from the kitchen she's using to film her cooking special, and no one knows who took her or where she was taken.

Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home.
Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

Kidnapped in the Kitchen is the thirty-third book in Kathi Daley’s heartwarming Inn at Holiday Bay series. The setting is charming, and the well-developed characters are three-dimensional, compassionate, and caring. The well-plotted storyline flows smoothly, and multiple twists and red herrings in the complex mystery keep the reader engaged. Whenever I pick up one of Ms. Daley’s books, I know I’m in for a treat, and I’ve never been disappointed. I highly recommend this series to readers who enjoy well-crafted, cozy mysteries.

After losing her husband and their infant son in a tragic accident, Abby Sullivan bought a huge old house in the charming town of Holiday Bay, Maine, without even seeing it. Once the house was renovated, she opened the Inn at Holiday Bay and found a home and a family. Abby lives in a cottage on the property with her Maine Coon, Rufus, and her terrier mix, Molly, and the inn’s newest employee, Bailey, and her newborn daughter, Hazel, have settled into the guest suite in Abby’s cottage. Bailey, one of Abby’s “chosen daughters,” has been emancipated, and she and Hazel are doing well. Georgia Carter-Peyton, who has also overcome obstacles in her lifetime, is the inn’s talented cook/baker and manager and has her own cable cooking show. Georgia and her Newfoundland dog, Ramos, recently moved back into Tanner Peyton’s home, and the happy couple are now husband and wife. Jeremy and Mylie Slater and Jeremy’s young niece, Annabelle, recently welcomed Mylie and Jeremy’s first child, Danny, into their home. Colt’s niece and nephew, who are now full-time residents of Holiday Bay, seem to be adjusting to the move, and Colt’s parents sold their home and purchased the house behind Colt’s home. Haven Hanson, Abby’s second “chosen daughter,” is attending college and becoming proficient in preparing meals.

In this installment, Georgia Carter-Peyton is filming eight special episodes for her cable cooking show, Cooking with Georgia, to promote her cookbook’s release, Brad Kingman, the cable television station’s owner, arranged for her to use a local restaurant’s kitchen. The Cliff House’s common areas are undergoing renovations, but Georgia has been given access to its kitchen after the contractors leave at the end of their workday. Georgia decided to stay with her best friend and business partner, Abby Sullivan, while her husband, Tanner Peyton, is out of town to deliver a search and rescue dog. When Georgia fails to arrive at Abby’s cottage after the second day of filming, Abby contacts Police Chief Colt Wilder, who is also her boyfriend, who quickly determines that Georgia has been kidnapped.

Abby Sullivan suffered a personal tragedy then moved across the country to start over in Holiday Bay, Maine. There she runs a successful inn on the coast with her best friend, Georgia. She also has a large, adopted family. In this book, Georgia is kidnapped and everyone is on board trying to find who took her and where.

I've really enjoyed this series and this book's no exception. It was well-written with well-rounded characters and a fast-paced pace throughout the story. There's a strong sense of family and deep friendship in this story that blends with the mystery. That mystery is intriguing with multiple twists and turns and red herrings. I was drawn into this captivating tale and kept hooked from beginning to end. Kathi Daley's a fantastic author and storyteller who pulls you into her worlds allowing you to escape as you read. I loved this book and am looking forward to the next one. I highly recommend both book and series.

Not surprisingly, Kidnapped in the Kitchen is much more edge of your seat that other books in Kathi Dailey's The Inn at Holiday Bay. The closeness of the group of friends is one of the draws for me with this series and that really comes into play when a member of the group disappears, and that is not the full extent of the intensity of this newest book in the series. Wow! and Wow! The whole group of people who have worked at the inn, and other friends who haven't, all jump into action to help recover a dear one of their own.
Books in the series always leave me anxious for the next one, but once again, Kidnapped in Kitchen creates some shifts that have me even more excited to see where the next book takes us. There is NO cliffhanger.

What a brilliant read..... I could not put this book down and read it in one sitting... Wow, what a ride! The author said it was an important book in the series, and I can see why.

Set in Holiday Bay, author Abby Sullivan owns and runs The Inn at Holiday Bay, along with her fantastic staff who have become family. She's going out with Colt, the local Police Chief.

When Georgia, Abby's co-owner, and chef is kidnapped, it's all hands on deck to find her.

I loved this book, as I said I couldn't put it down. The books in this series are best read in the order they are published to preserve continuity of the characters and wider storyline.

I can't wait until the next book is released... and maybe a new series?

honestly, each book in the series gets better!

I absolutely love this series, the characters are wonderfully developed and there is a perfect blend of mystery, family/community and romance. It’s very relatable with real life challenges that are difficult but the gracious demeanor of some characters really warms my heart. The series has become a home away from home, a family away from family…. Please keep them coming!

So good!

I couldn’t put it down. I must admit I suspected that Natasha from the first time we saw her. But the development of the plot was awesome. The ending had all the surprising and amazing elements. Abby will certainly have a lot of Colt time. She can handle it, he couldn’t have a better person by his side.

It seems that Georgia has a stalker who is sending all kinds of gifts but there is a concern that they might go too far when Georgia is kidnapped the search is on and everyone is frantic since Georgia is pregnant, luckily she is found safe and sound and the culprit is arrested but Colt is injured and Abby is going to be taking care of him during his recovery. Great read.

A very tense story from Inn at Holiday Bay

This book was full of surprises, both good and bad. Regular characters made up most of the story with a few sinister exceptions. Abby Sullivan (Inn owner) almost lost two people she cares most about. This was the most tense story that Kathi Daley has written (based on my reading).

The Inn at Holiday Bay Kidnapped in the kitchen

This book was so exciting with finding out Georgia was having a baby and Tanner being out of town. Georgia getting kidnapped by a woman who was obsessed with Tanner. Colt being shot by this lady. A lot of recovery for Colt. I am looking forward to the book.

Great addition to this series...this one had more suspense than some have had and it was a nice change of pace. Can't wait for the next one. Also, I enjoy the cross-over characters from the other series' set in the same town.

Page turner

This was a great addition to the series, and it had me anxiously turning the pages. I did figure out early on that the Tasha that Georgia had argued with was the one Abby met on a walk. But even that had a twist to it. Loved Ramos's role in this, too.

Scary

Exciting news followed by some scary situations leaves Georgia and Colt in a bad situation. Kathi has a way of bringing the reader into the story. It all turned out well in the end but a lot has to happen. I always recommend Kathi's books to anyone that asks.

Unpredictable and crazy things happen!

What else can happen besides a kidnapping? Too many surprises! But then the whole "family" rallies around to support each of those who need help. But this could have been so different for all. Now can happiness reign supreme for awhile?
