What happens when a dedicated Alabama cop and a savvy drug dealer shoot the same guy…at the same time…in parallel universes?

Dragged into another dimension by a single bullet, Detective Wade Beringer crosses paths with Sergio Vega, his street-smart doppelgänger–a shadow of the darker man Wade might have become.

Meanwhile, August Webb and Ida Kightlinger have carved out a new existence in Gryphon, Alabama, far from her overbearing family and their West Virginia roots. Here, as August launches his moonshining business, he finds unlikely mentors in their mystical neighbors who help him realize his ability to see ghosts.

And their new house is full of them.

As Wade’s friends and family back home embark on a desperate mission to retrieve him, Wade learns that his traditional detective skills may not be enough to solve this supernatural mystery.

Unless there’s more to a couple of criminals and a haunted house than meets the eye…

Iris Kain’s Offshoot delivers a thrilling and multidimensional ride that blends crime, supernatural elements, and parallel universe intrigue with masterful pacing. Detective Wade Beringer’s collision with his darker doppelgänger, Sergio Vega, adds layers of suspense and psychological depth. Meanwhile, the haunted setting of Gryphon, Alabama, and the mystically gifted neighbors infuse the story with a unique supernatural charm. The combination of mystery, action, and paranormal intrigue keeps readers guessing and invested in every twist. A compelling read for fans of speculative crime thrillers.

There was a lot going on in this book, and I would classify this as more of a thriller than a horror. But all the separate stories and plot lines came together rather nicely in the end. I felt that the ending was a little rushed, but the writing was very well-done! A very fun read overall and it was especially fun with the setting of the book being near my hometown!

I almost gave up after 4 chapters. I’m so happy I didn’t. I quite like the different points of view from an intertwined story. Now, I do think the ending could have been better. But all in all, an excellent story. Paranormal, thriller, love story. I do recommend this book. Give your take on it.
