Gabe wanted to introduce his friends to his twenty-six year old sister Charlotte Reynolds a.k.a. Charlie. She had recently graduated from the University of Miami and is environmentalist in marine biology and the ecosystems and moved to Rhode Island to work on campaign.
Charlotte she is launching an activist campaign relating to yacht emissions and their impact on the marine ecosystem. Victoria Morgan a well known activist that everyone listen to was spearheading the campaign and Charlotte is in charge. When Alex got to Gabe party it was like a frat party which was no longer his speed. Alex is use to woman throwing themselves at him for clout and it was no different at this party Candice the girl that everyone always choose was throwing herself at him and wouldn't take no for an answer when a woman came and rescue him unbeknowing to him that she was Gabe's sister. She looped her arm through his and smiled sweetly at him. She asked him if he had got stuck at the office. She gave him a pointed look willing him to play along. He tells her that he had been waiting for her. Candice asked who she was then she told her that she was his girlfriend. As soon as Candice left she took her hands off him and told him sorry but he looked like he needed saving and that Candice looked ready to dig her claws into him and he's not very well equipped. She started to walk away after the crisis was averted but then he stopped her and asked her if he could get her a drink. He asked her if she wanted to go somewhere else because the party wasn't his scene with Gabe and his frat brothers taking shots like they were still in college. It wasn't her type of scene either. They went to a dive bar call Soulstice which was really not his normal style but he liked the boho scene. Alex was really intrigued by her and find that he could open up around her.
Charlotte is different, she's everything he'd never known that he wanted in a woman and then it turned out that she was everything he wasn't allowed to have. She tells him about herself but he didn't really share much and the more she asked he deflect then kissed her. It was supposed to be a deflection but it got hot very quickly so they went back to his penthouse. They had a night filled with the most life altering passion. It wasn't until the next morning when she noticed that she had received several missed calls from her brother and said Gabe was going to kill her. He told her his name was Alex Blackwood and she was livid that she had slept with her brother's best friend and the man that was her enemy because he was destroying the ecosystem that she loved so much. The two with have a showdown as she called out his company in a press conference. But regardless of them being on opposite side they couldn't stop thinking about each other and reliving their night together. Charlotte learned that she had pre-judged Alex and his company without knowing all the information which made her wanted to know more about his company. Their connection was magnetic and electrifying and anytime that they close is like they want to jump each other.
One night leads to two and the next thing you know she had inspired him to make some changes to his business practices. He took her out on his boat but they got caught in a really bad storm and had to seek shelter for the night. And the two keep their hands off each. They succumb to their attraction yet again because they're falling for each other and Alex wanted to be with her and date her. He decided to tell Gabe but things didn't go like he thought because Gabe had always been overprotective of her since their mother abandoned them and their dad plunged into work so they only had each other to rely on. These two had to fight hard to get their HEA because they were both scarred in inside from the trauma of their youth. And when things wasn't going right it was Gabe who got them back on the right track.

Love is a Complex and Beautiful Feeling -
Charlotte and Alex were strangers when she stepped in to safe him from a woman who didn’t like hearing the word ‘I am not interested’, but they felt an inexplicable connection that led them to leave the bar together. However, everything changed in the light of day when they found out who each other was and realised the complicated situation they found themselves in. Even though Charlotte and Alex tried to stay away from each other because of their differing views on the environment and a major personal complications, the pull towards each other was too strong and led to them engaging in secret trysts.
Unfortunately, everything came to a head when the environmental issue became a problem between Charlotte and Alex again, which caused her to walk away and not telling him about her life changing news. Luckily, the last person Alex expected to support his relationship with Charlotte gave him the confidence and push he needed to do everything possible to convince her to give them a chance at getting the future they both craved. This was a really interesting story, that took me the entire Saturday to finish reading it, but it was well worth the time spent. If you are looking to read a story involves more than just the two lovers, then grab a copy of this book now and enjoy yourself.

This is wonderful love story of opposites in the Blackwood Billionaires Series. Alex is the CEO of his family luxury yacht manufacturer and his brothers run other parts of the family business or do their own thing, rock stars. Each brother has been adopted and given a life they all have never dreamed possible. When Alex attends his best friends birthday party he finds himself looking for a way to leave only to be cornered by a woman after his way of life and money only to be saved by a beautiful woman, Charlotte pretending to be his girlfriend. These two strangers connected quickly and spend an amazing night together. When the light of day reveals that Charlotte is his best friends little sister and she’s an activist out to protect the ocean she leaves upset with herself and Alex is questioning his decisions over the last evening. When their work throws them together there is a struggle with Alex not liking Charlotte’s press conference and their inability to stop thinking of one another brings up feelings neither want to deny. They both don’t believe it’s possible to be together so when they bend enough to figure it out there are undeniable sparks. When their secret is shared with Charlotte’s brother things go down hill fast only for him to set things straight where needed! Charlotte and Alex had the quintessential first meet at a bar. That bar just happened to be at her brother's house for his birthday...and neither knew who the other actually was except in name from her brother. Unfortunately, the brother had always used a nickname and Alex had ZERO clue. Cue awkwardness and terror for the next morning. 😲
No matter how different they seemed, on paper, they truly weren't that different once you learned their histories and true feelings. Their chemistry is undeniable. The moment you thought would lead to the surprise pregnancy is not what you think...which is more surprising. 🤣
While the pacing of their story is well done and we get equal POV, the blurb and cover are a little misleading. They make you think that Alex is a much darker character than what he is. He's actually a big ole teddy bear and where are the tattoos we seem to have been promised?! There was no mention of those. Lol

Charlotte is an environmental activist and her focus is on the maire life. Alex is the CEO of a prestigious yacht company who is trying to keep his investors happy. Charlotte and Alex meet while at her brother’s birthday party and had no clue who the other was. They really connected and ended up spending the night together and after wards making the connection and agreed that it could never happen again. Of course, at fate would have it they meet up again but are rivals due to their work. Will they be able to work through their differences? What will happen when Alex pulls out of a project and Charlotte thinks he is just like her father use to be?
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were great and the issues they were dealing with seemed like real life issues and it had several tropes which I really liked. Job well done Josie.

Rival Hearts is amazingly written, exceptionally balanced and perfectly executed by Josie Hart. Rival Hearts is the second book that I have read by Josie Hart and I absolutely enjoyed reading this amazing book. Rival Hearts is entertaining and an absolute pleasure to read. Rival Hearts follows the story of Alex and Charlotte. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know both Alex and Charlotte as well as witnessing their story unfolding throughout the book. The characters are well developed and beautifully executed throughout the story. I do love the fact that Alex and Charlotte have a happy ending to their story. I couldn’t get enough of Alex and Charlotte’s fabulous story. I would definitely give this book as a recommendation for anyone to checkout and give it a read. I can’t wait to read more amazing books from this author in the future.

OMG this was a marvelous story. It was a page turner and the suspense was a intense. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn't even put it down. This story will sucked you right in this forbidden romance love affair of Charlotte and Alex chemistry was intense and captivating of emotions drama and chaos. The physical attraction between them was spicy of passion as they could not longer fight the temptation as they gave into their lust and pleasure. One night with him will change her life forever with this handsome but mysterious billionaire. Nine months later will be a blessing and mind blowing moment. Will he accepted the truth about this child.

This was a wonderful rival’s, brother’s best friend romance!
Charlotte Reynolds is a strong woman and is an activist that fights for what she believes in.
Alex Blackwood is a handsome CEO of his family’s yacht company.
Neither one had a wonderful childhood and both have scars and pains from their past. I was very intrigued to see what would happen see as when they first met they really didn’t know who the other was but they had a strong attraction for one another. I love how they could not seem to stay away from each other and how they both listened to the others side. Of course there was some turmoil and a surprise along the way. I loved this book and am glad I read it. This was the first Josie Hart book I have read and I will be back for more!

It’s a great story. A steamy contemporary romance between Charlotte an ecology activist and Alex Blackwood, CEO of a company which manufactures luxury yachts. They meet at Charlotte's brother’s birthday party and not knowing who Alex is, the two of them hook up. Sparks fly with mutual attraction. Low and behold, Charlotte finds out Alex is her brother, Gabe’s, best friend. That’s just the beginning. Charlotte is busy putting together a program to make luxury yacht companies change their manufacturing to a more sustainable and eco-friendlier product. Josie is a good storyteller and the character development is wonderful. The romance is steamy. There is an HEA and it’s all together a fun read.

Charlotte has graduated college and has moved to be close to her brother. At his birthday part she hooks up with a guest, Alex, and things are HOT. The next morning identities are revealed and Charlie takes off when she finds out this is her brothers BFF. Alex and Charlotte are on opposing sides, she is an environmentalist protesting the yacht industry and Alex builds yachts. As they continue to interact things get steamy between them. The FMC in this book was not my favorite, she was young and naive and picked a fight that she didn't have all the information on. Alex tried to be the stoic, tough businessman but at the center was truly a good guy. Generally a good book with a ton of steam and lots of feels.

Rival Hearts I’d the first book in the Blackwood Billionaires series and what a great beginning to a series. This book is a contemporary bff little sister, enemies to lovers romance. I devoured this book and was wanting more when I reached the end. I loved the banter, angst and spice in this book. My heart broke for both characters and I loved their undeniable chemistry. The storyline was refreshing and original. I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series!! Josie Hart has created an exciting and captivating world and filled it with characters that are complex and have interesting backstories.

Charlotte and Alex’s story had them meeting when she helped him with a women at the bar they were both at. They had chemistry and attraction so they left together. In the light of day they found out they had a few problems and went their separate ways. But the attraction was electrifying and they wanted to try but haw will they tackle the problems that lay before them. He gets some good advice from an unlikely source that’s helps him get the confidence to go after her.

Good, so close to 5
Spoilers*
So two things bothered me. The black or white thinking on the business issue was unrealistic to me.
And the brother letting out the secret actually made the hea not mean as much for me. It was a great ending, good story and characters, but it would have been so much better if they had found a way to make it work before he found out her secret, not after. It felt like the reason he did everything was cuz of that and not cuz of the fmc.
Story slightly dragged at a part, but overall I still feel 4 stars was earned here.

All in all this was a cute enemies to lovers story that I really enjoyed. I have never been a huge fan of the surprise pregnancy trope, but I think it was well done in this case. I enjoyed watching Charlotte overcome her own preconceived notions about Alex and his motivations. I would have preferred to see more of Alex and Charlotte's relationship development after their decided to work things out, and I could have done with less, or shorter, smut scenes to really develop this part of the story.

This is Book 1 in the Blackwood Billionaires (Blackwood Legacy) Series by this author. It is an off limits romance between Charlotte and her brother's best friend, Alex. These two flawed but likeable souls and the unique plot make for an enjoyable read. It is a sweet love story with drama and steam, sexual tension and chemistry, humor and charm, family dynamic, and twists and turns, plus appealing secondary characters. Seriously entertaining.

Charlotte and Alex are about to take you on an incredible journey in the romance department. What starts off as a one night of heated passion turns into something a whole lot more unpredictable and complicated. I thought that the characters send a jolt of heat and electricity to your body when you read their story and OMG what a story they deliver. So, grab this 5-star romance book and let them whisk you away.

This was a new to me author and I wasn’t sure what to expect, however, Josie Hart knocked it out of the park! I love how they were both just broken enough to help each other move forward together. I did struggle with the FMC being quick to paint people with money with her bias but I did like the development. Both characters developed well throughout the story. I will certainly look into reading more by this author.

Alex and Charlotte's story was so good it started with a one night stand to Alex realizing Charlotte is his best friends sister along with being a marine activist. This is one of those books you just have to read because you will love it! I look forward to reading more from the author!.

I enjoyed rival hearts which was Alex and Charlotte’s story. This was the first book in the Blackwood legacy. She’s an ocean activist fighting the polluting yacht industry. And his empire builds luxury superyachts for the Uber rich. They’re polar opposites, until they end up tangled in the dark. It was an exciting read. Looking forward to the next book in series. enjoyed, but….
I was thoroughly put off by the number of times the author used the phrase “cried out”, or some variation of it. There were only a few instances of someone saying something that would have been appropriate to describe it that way. The phrase was almost on every other page. I really could not get past that. I liked the storyline a lot, but wow. That was not a good editing choice.

Wowsa this book is so good and will definitely have you engrossed from the beginning until the end. It's brothers best friend taboo and so much more. I couldn't put it down and loved the characters in it. You could connect with them and feel like you were apart of the story.

I didn’t really get the enemies to lovers more like brothers best friend to lover. The FMC started to irritate me when she was fighting a billionaire company without clear cut evidence to support her fight. For the rest of the book it was good and ended with a happy ending.

Very good story, we love the plots with babies surprises, best friend of the brother and that from hate to love there is only one step. Alex and Charlotte were meant to meet, but they didn’t expect the attraction to be so intense, and after a night of passion these opposites would have more reasons to disagree but something bigger would keep them together.
