Started out really good then went downhill but that's not what pissed me off. What pmo was the actions of the MMCs.
The 1st MMC was with her for weeks and she got comfortable with him. But when her heat started, she didn't want him to help her through it bc of trauma she had from being gang raped. He knew this, and controlled his instincts.
Then the 2nd MMC, a stranger, finds them and gets angry that he's not helping her and lets him know that she'll die if she's not helped through it.
SO THEY BOTH AGREE THE STRANGER WILL FUCK HER THROUGH IT.
I mean, MMC1, the one she actually knew and trusted joined in when she asked for him, but until that moment it was going to be just the stranger, and the stranger took her first anyway, not knowing any of her triggers or even that she had them.
I literally cannot with this. This woman ran away from the high society life she knew to live alone in the wilderness and suffered and nearly starved/froze herself to death, all in order to get away from this exact damn thing happening again.
But whatever, the author needed a way to make this a menage and going about it this way was definitely a CHOICE....
Of course, the FMC has zero issues with it, even after her heat ends. She only gets upset later when she finds out the stranger is from the same military group whose members gang raped her...
Yeah.
I kept reading though and got annoyed again when the stranger (MMC2) becomes her imprinted mate, which puts their connection above the one with MMC1 that she already had a relationship with and feelings for. And of course she and MMC2 have to spend like zero time together before they're in love with other. 🙄
And of course, when she bonds with MMC1, we have to see it through MMC2's eyes from a distance instead of first hand, and we only get parts of it, bc the storyline is focused on MMC2's yearning. But when she later bonds with MMC2 we also see it in full and complete detail through MMC2's eyes.
The storyline between the two cities is interesting but very little of it happens on page so why bother? Like the it literally ends with a declaration of war between the cities bc of these guys and like why are we supposed to care? We didn't get to see enough of it to care.
I also didn't realize this was a duet and that the second book wasn't out yet or I wouldn't have read it, but that's my own issue.
The two stars are for the great beginning to the story. I'm gonna imagine my own middle and ending.
