Wilds

Rate this book
Willow—the golden omega of Pack Shire.
Her whole life, she's been raised to please alphas. To be beautiful. Obedient. Her family claims it's her destiny.

Until a violent encounter with the village sentinels makes her realize that destiny is just a smokescreen for control.

She escapes to the wilds, terrified every day that she'll be returned to the sentinels' clutches. But it's not the sentinels who find her.

Kane—the barbarian alpha who's made the wilds his home. He insists Willow is his responsibility. As long as she's on his territory, he is instinct-bound to keep her fed, and warm, and safe, through the winter.

And Silas—the sentinels' chief of recruitment, tasked with bringing Willow home. Except, Willow isn't the only one who's running from something. And there is only so long he can suppress his demons before the truth comes to light.

The three of them have to survive the wilds, as well as each other.

And everything that stands to tear them apart.

Started out really good then went downhill but that's not what pissed me off. What pmo was the actions of the MMCs.

The 1st MMC was with her for weeks and she got comfortable with him. But when her heat started, she didn't want him to help her through it bc of trauma she had from being gang raped. He knew this, and controlled his instincts.

Then the 2nd MMC, a stranger, finds them and gets angry that he's not helping her and lets him know that she'll die if she's not helped through it.

SO THEY BOTH AGREE THE STRANGER WILL FUCK HER THROUGH IT.

I mean, MMC1, the one she actually knew and trusted joined in when she asked for him, but until that moment it was going to be just the stranger, and the stranger took her first anyway, not knowing any of her triggers or even that she had them.

I literally cannot with this. This woman ran away from the high society life she knew to live alone in the wilderness and suffered and nearly starved/froze herself to death, all in order to get away from this exact damn thing happening again.

But whatever, the author needed a way to make this a menage and going about it this way was definitely a CHOICE....

Of course, the FMC has zero issues with it, even after her heat ends. She only gets upset later when she finds out the stranger is from the same military group whose members gang raped her...

Yeah.

I kept reading though and got annoyed again when the stranger (MMC2) becomes her imprinted mate, which puts their connection above the one with MMC1 that she already had a relationship with and feelings for. And of course she and MMC2 have to spend like zero time together before they're in love with other. 🙄

And of course, when she bonds with MMC1, we have to see it through MMC2's eyes from a distance instead of first hand, and we only get parts of it, bc the storyline is focused on MMC2's yearning. But when she later bonds with MMC2 we also see it in full and complete detail through MMC2's eyes.

The storyline between the two cities is interesting but very little of it happens on page so why bother? Like the it literally ends with a declaration of war between the cities bc of these guys and like why are we supposed to care? We didn't get to see enough of it to care.

I also didn't realize this was a duet and that the second book wasn't out yet or I wouldn't have read it, but that's my own issue.

The two stars are for the great beginning to the story. I'm gonna imagine my own middle and ending.

Yes!

I’ve found my new favorite omegaverse world. What a weary toad these characters have traveled. Willow, the FMC, goes from a broken, battered omega with trust issues, Kane, one of the MMC’s as a feral Alpha just trying to make it in the wilds and gain the omega’s trust, blustering along with limited knowledge of how omega’s work. All while showing how completely guileless and dedicated he is to Willow. To Silas who is very knowledgeable of omegas just trying to help Willow through her heat, all the while showing how much of a marshmallow he is where Willow is concerned. At the same time butting heads with Kane and trying to convince Willow he means her no harm.

If all that wasn’t enough for this budding trio to contend with, Willow is fighting her own demons in her mind with the fear that she will be captured and returned to her hometown where her literal demons would be put in control of her.

I don’t want to give any more away but all of these amazing characters make for an incredible story of two alphas that will do anything to protect this sweet, sassy, angry, strong omega.

I will be anxiously awaiting the next book!!

SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW!!!!!! This is my opinion.🥰
Huh, a Multi-POV Why Choose Omegaverse romance with two alphas who want nothing more than to protect the omega they meet in the woods and you fall in love with them so quickly and throughout the book it turns political and a freaking WAR breaks out at the end with a to be continued? I think, duh!
From the very start of this book, my attention was caught and the world was captivating. I freaking LOVE Rose Carver’s books and this is another one. I couldn’t put it down when I found it and I am so happy I did. Can’t wait for book 2!!!

I’ve never been this early to an omegaverse. I am so excited to explore more of this world. I want more information on rogues. I want to see more wilds. I want to punch the sentinels in the face. I had many emotions during this book.

The different types of bonds brings a new lvl of intrigue to your standard omegaverse that kept me engaged.

Also the way the FMC’s trauma is handled and portrayed? Chefs kiss. 10/10
