Treated as a pawn, can she prove her power?
For years, the quick-witted Lady Ysabelle Benzel was forced to advance the ambitions of her wicked stepfather, first as a singer for the court and later in pursuing a marriage alliance. Ysa thought she’d escaped him at last by hiding among the Khorrum, the warriors of the wildwood, who have become her dearest friends.

Kullan Asanji is a powerful Khorrum healer, yet he struggles to heal his own wounds. If only he could punish the high-ranking man who gave him the scars he hides behind a mask. Kullan had thought kidnapping the man’s stepdaughter would force a confrontation. Yet he quickly realizes that Ysa is no pawn. She has a growing power that might even heal his heart, a heart that is more hers every day.

As Ysa’s stepfather allies himself with their enemies, he puts her friends and Kullan’s people in danger. Ysa must learn to master her power and turn it for a purpose she never imagined. Together, she and Kullan might be the only ones who can prove that true love is strong enough to conquer the rising darkness.

She’s done it again! Singer of the Dawn is another fantastic installment in the Bonded Realm series by Regan Allen that has left me wanting more.

The novel follows Ysabelle Benzel, Lady of Benzelan, and Kullan Asanji, Body-kin and member of the Hidden Crest tribe. Summoned home at the behest of her vile stepfather, Ysa wants nothing more than to be rescued by someone before she is forced into an unwanted marriage with the enemy. Cue Kullan, who “kidnaps” Ysa in an attempt to punish her stepfather—not realizing that she actually wants protection from the same man.

As Ysa finds refuge with remnants of the Hidden Crests tribe, she begins to embrace the unusual and unheard of gift that she was given by the Creator, using it to bless, uplift, and protect those around her. And Kullan begins to realize that his desire for revenge has left wounds on his soul that he is unable to heal, despite his powerful, Creator-given gift of healing.

As a fan of Christian fantasy, I found this tale to be engaging and interesting—though the Christian elements are not overt in nature. Major themes include: one’s view of self, one’s motivation (i.e., what drives us?), and using one’s Creator-given gifts to bring joy to one’s soul and others’. I also appreciated the reminder that, as we walk in obedience to Him, God never asks more of us than we are capable of giving.

I have greatly enjoyed reading all four books in the Bonded Realm series, and I can’t wait to see what comes next when Kadan Asanji, Khan of the High Peak’s, story is published!

4.5 stars

This was a really good installment in this series. For some reason I thought it would be the last, but it’s not done yet! Throughout this series an enemy has cropped up that grows more fierce as the series moves on. Each book gives new hope and fresh terror. When Ysa is kidnapped by Kullen, these two enter a forced proximity situation in occasionally harrowing conditions. Kullen has long desired revenge on Ysa’s stepfather. Will their bond be enough to stop him and keep her safe? I’m excited to read more of this series and adventure in the wildwood. This is a just kisses romance, intimacy level 1. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

I received an eARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Singer of the Dawn by Regan Allen
Bonded Realms Book Four
Kullan Asanji, a Khorrum, and a Body-Kin, had an enemy from long ago, and he finally had his chance to get even. Kidnapping the man’s daughter would force him to come and face Kullan. For a Stranger, she surprised him with her inner strength. It didn’t matter; when Lord Jarrus came for her, he’d release the spitfire back to him, as he was a man of his word. Although the longer she was with him, the harder that would be.
Lady Ysabelle “Ysa” Benzel hated her stepfather. He only used her to barter. When she was summoned to come home, she wanted to refuse, but the seer told her if she answered her stepfather’s summons, she’d find her true love. While kidnapped on the trip home, she thought she found freedom…only to find it was another man who wanted to barter her life.
Such a unique series. I love it! Already looking forward to the next story.

I was sad when I finished this book… it was so good I wanted it to continue!
I have enjoyed each book in the series. They each have a strong connection with an underlying plot line but each stand on its own strengths.
I love how the hero and heroine are struggling with self worth and past experiences that fuel these doubts. But each finds strength and grows beyond the past to be better and stronger.
The relationship between characters is so real and the author has created a wonderful world that has magic.
The turmoil within the world is realistic and keeps the reader engaged.
I cannot wait for the next book in this series!
I highly recommend reading each one in sequence as it makes a wonderful storyline.
I received an ARC copy of this book and all opinions are my own.

This is the fourth book in Allen’s Bonded Realms series. If you have not read the prequel and the first three books, I highly recommend that you read this fantasy romance series in order. Otherwise you will have a hard time understanding the worlds of the Khorrum and the Blessed, the animals, the cultures, the geography, the other characters, and the problem with the Vanguard.

I thoroughly enjoyed this latest addition to the series. There are new characters who join the ones from previous books, new challenges, and plot twists to keep things hopping. It was hard to put down and I was glad I could read it all in one day.

Just like with her previous work, Allen moves the story of this world and its people forward in a way that satisfies you. By the time you reach the end, you want to remain on the journey with each of the characters. As always, they are compelling and have their own voices; the couples have their own dynamics. The relationship between the main leads, Lady Ysabelle and Kullan Asanji, has a very distinct start, perhaps more similar to Tam and Marya than any of the others, but still very unique and very much their own. Once again, it is very masterfully crafted.

This book presents a great balance between what we already know (characters, places, and situations) and the new elements that enrich the story. We're moving now onto another clan, another territory, and a different family than the Falling Waters leaders, while preserving the links that make this series one of "bonded realms."

I have nothing else to say, besides that I'm excitedly looking forward to the next book and I'm glad someone received Marya's prophecy with a better disposition 🤭♥️.
