Set in a high stakes university for those who work in the shadows and the underbelly of society, we follow the story of Sera as she tries to unravel the mystery of her father’s murder. This is an intriguing plot that fans of the Hunger Games and Divergent may enjoy. We loved the set up of the Four Houses, and the games/trials set forth to test and train the students. Marcus and Evelyn made for great side characters, and if you’re into obsessive love interests with a side of stalking, then Killian Thorn is the guy for you. This does read slightly more YA than we were anticipating, and there’s a lot happening all at once that gets a bit hard to follow sometimes, but it’s a fast paced read worth trying and a solid start to a series that leaves you curious for what’s to come!

3.5 ⭐️ (arc review)
"i don't just hate you, sera. i want to destroy you. i want to conquer you, break you, and leave you in pieces. and the worst part? i can't."
this was such a fun read. it gave hunger games, divergent, and a tad bit of harry potter/dramione vibes, and i thoroughly enjoyed it. sera and killian were literally the same person, which was quite refreshing, compared to the usual grumpy sunshine or helpless fmc and insane mmc combinations. i won't lie, i was leaning towards a 3.75 but that 40-minute chapter almost took me out as fast paced as this book was, because baby, please, we could have easily split that up into two chapters 😩. i'm petty, i know, but that wasn't the only reason i rated it 3.5 star... it was also because of the ending because i wasn't expecting that AT ALL, like omg where is book 2??? i need it now!
but i enjoyed the main characters. i loved how both sera and killian were morally grey, and the banter between them was so fun to read. did i find some things to be a little too cliché or cheesy? absolutely, but all books have them, so it didn't bother me too much. i did like the dynamic between them, and the small found family aspect between their friend group was entertaining as well. i wasn't bored at any point of this book, and i do think that this will get even better as it goes on.
the book wasn't spicy at all either, except for one small scene, but it honestly didn't even need that, if i'm being honest. and this is coming from someone who usually only reads open door spicy books, i didn't feel like it was missing, or that it needed it. the book and characters mainly focused on the plot, which was simply getting through the academic year, and sera finding the answers to what happened to her father.

Okay folks, I need to SCREAM about this book right now! Erebus Academy by Mya Young has completely taken over my life, and I am NOT okay after that ending. WHAT. THE. ACTUAL. HELL. That cliffhanger was straight-up CRUEL, and I am desperately needing the second book RIGHT THIS SECOND!
If you're looking for the perfect dark academia vibe with deadly stakes, this is IT! Think Harry Potter meets Divergent with a healthy dose of Zodiac Academy's intensity thrown in. The academy setting with its rival houses (killers, hackers, thieves, and manipulators) creates this deliciously dangerous atmosphere where failure means way more than just a bad grade.
Sera Ryker is an absolute QUEEN 👑 - brilliant, determined, and completely unafraid to take on whatever the academy throws her way. And then there's Killian Thorn... *fans self* Their enemies-to-lovers journey is FIRE from start to finish. The way their relationship evolves is both intense and electric - the tension had me GRIPPING my kindle!
While the beginning moves a bit slower as the world builds, once it picks up, I literally could not put this book down. I DEVOURED it in just a few hours! The trials are anxiety-inducing, the action scenes vivid, and the whole "who can you trust?" vibe kept me guessing throughout.
And that ending? When Kill drops that line: "I will kill every last one of them." I FELT THAT. He better follow through because my heart cannot take this suspense!
If you live for dark romance with forced proximity, danger around every corner, and characters that make you feel ALL the things, you need this book in your life immediately.

And who doesn’t love a good bit of corruption… deep down I am holding out hope someone at this academy is good, like the 4 maybe?🧐 maybe even the headmistress? Am I dreaming here?…..

This book... OH MY GOSH. I loved it so much. The vibes are incredible, the authors prose and voice are STUNNING, and I hung on every last word (the amount of things I highlighted omg)
I have such a soft spot for the main characters. Killian has passions, he BAKES, he's confident and knows his stuff. He has depth, and tons of trauma that just make him such a good character. And Sera omg she can handle herself, has soft sides, but also can dish out not only sass, but she's strong, super smart, and she's on a mission to avenge her father. I adore them both so much.
Some of my favorite moments (mildly spoiling, but not too in depth) 😏 Killian calling Sera "Virus". When he first bakes for her OMG. Sera showing him up time and time again. THE SHOWER (iykyk) The lovable side characters! The intensity, the plot, the academy and all it's dark secrets. And then omg... the ending... okay, I can't say those moment without spoiling. But those chapters also had my heart and then STOMPED ON IT (in the best way a book can) with a twist I did not see coming.
Mya Young crafted such a stunning world, characters, and a plot that unfolded to perfection. I am so obsessed, and can't wait for book two!

Damn this was an enjoyable read.
Sera is Feisty and holds her own, she will pretty much take on anything in her search for answers she desperately needs. The way she navigated the trials before even entering Erberus Academy was amazing, quick thinking, logic and utilised her strength and others flawlessly.
Killian, this man is obsessed, burn the world down obsessed and I don’t blame him. Cookies! Baking! This man!
Evelyn and Marcus were just such good side characters too, love a little found family moment! I’m trying to not give anything away cause it needs to be read with no spoilers, jam packed with deadly trials and missions, morally black MMC & FMC, secrets, murder mystery, found family, baking yep that’s right and a load of delicious banter!
I have also been contemplating what house I would like to be sorted into, such a tough decision, I would like to say i am in the House of Vipers but i know full well i am an House of Phantoms girly 🥰
Still shook by the cliffhanger though…I know book two is just gonna reach a whole new level and I’m excited 🥰

Erebus academy is a fast paced intense roller coaster that will have you on the edge of your seat!
This book has some incredible badass characters and will leave you reeling from end to end. I love the way that Sera was so unintimidated by Killian from the start and their chemistry was 🔥🔥
This book is filled with trials and obstacles that were so intricate and anxiety inducing! The fight scenes were so vivid that I was glued to the pages. I loved the way the action sequences were laid out.
Overall, a very fun book! Those who are fans of Zodiac Academy, Divergent, and the Kingmakers series would love this story.

I loved this book so much, but I had to give it 4 stars because the cliffhanger at the end was the most painful thing I’ve read in a while!!!
But I know book 2 on this series will be even more intense and so much better, that the 5 stars will be the usual for the remaining of the series.
The world building was amazing!
The vibes I got were a lot like “Vile Academy” from “Carmen Sandiego” and I loved it!!! I ate the whole thing up 😎
I need more on Sera, Kill, Eve and Shade!!!
If you like the school for assassins kind of vibes and romance in the mix this book gives you all of it!! The mistery of it all just build throughout the book and it leaves you always on the edge of your seat!

The story switches back and forth from Sera Ryker’s POV and Killian Thorn’s. The story follows them as they navigate their way through trials, puzzles, conflicted feelings and more.
The way the characters are built and the way the environment is built helps you feel as if you can truly visualize the school, trials and characters.
As a fan of the Zodiac Academy and Divergent series this helped scratch the itch I have been craving for awhile. This book is extremely fun to read and will definitely keep you craving more. I will say the dialogue was a little hard to read at times due to the format but still a 5/5 for me.

The stakes are high, and my excitement was higher! This was such a unique read. I really like the idea of a college spy academy. It felt like watching an anime! The trials were so intense and reminded me of Divergent! The chemistry between the main characters was oh so hot and dare I say, deadly?👀
You could cut the tension between Killian and Sera with a knife! It wasn't even a “touch her and die" type of possession it was a “breath in the same building as her and die" 💀💀 The utter chaos that it Killian and the fact Sera couldn't even be bothered😂
This book has so much mystery and intrigue that you won't want to put it down!
And oh, that ending!😭😭😭 i can't wait for the next book in the Erebus Academy Series!!

theres some things i kinda dislike, hence the 4 n not 5 stars, but i wont specify them. theyre just a personal ick, n i think a lot of ppl would like/dont mind them but yeah

This was such a fantastic read!
I don’t even know where to start, Sera and Kill, I need more of them asap. The relationship and dynamic between them was so good, the slow burn tension was off the charts. He can bake for me any day of the week!
The world of Erebus is da.rk, twisted, and full of even dar.ker and more twisted trials with sides of betrayals. It’s so well written! It just keeps you turning the pages!
That cliffhanger 😭 why Mya had to do us like that I’ll never know but I’m ready for book 2 now ma’am, can’t leave us like that.
I’d highly recommend this book.

I like the idea of the book but I made it 40% in before I couldn’t do it anymore. I feel like things happened but at the same time nothing did we got bits of information that we could have been given while the story was progressing. It was a romance but no romance was happen. There wasn’t any tension at all. He went from hate to obsessed but nothing was happening. While I was intrigued and wanted to see how the story panned out I wasn’t invested enough to read 600 pages.

I am so glad i was picked as an ARC for this book and I truly cannot wait for the next one please PLEASEEEEE GO READ THIS !!! I cant say anything else without giving spoilers but my heart and brain are all over the place!

Absolutely loved it. Filled with badass characters and high stakes. Truly loved it!!! The cliffhanger has me screaming and shaking my phone to see if that'll produce the next book sooner lol. I nedd the next book like days ago but willing to wait. Love these characters so much and Sera is truly an absolute favorite. A survivor and true badass. I need to know her fate

I really wanted to love this book because the premise of the story was good. There was a lot of editing and formatting issues, which I can normally overlook for an ARC read. But it was a lot. The conversations happen within a paragraph and aren't separated, so it's challenging to follow who is saying what. There are also no page breaks to indicate that any time has passed when the story jumps ahead days or weeks. There were a lot of repetitive paragraph and conversations. For example, there has been at least 4-5 instances where there's talk of uniforms being perfectly fitted.
The characters are emotionally immature and over reactive for the situations. The dialogue sometimes doesn't match what is going on. There is SO much banter, and it's often inappropriate for the moment, and ill-timed. At one point, even when one friend is helping another, the other friend is giving him shit for it. It's weird.
There were also inconsistencies and decisions that characters made that didn't make sense. At one point a character was thrown in the dungeons and instead of just asking the dungeon friend who threw them in there, the others decided they needed to investigate who did it. One day they're having to break into a hotel room and weeks later a character just walks into it, uninvited, without any problems.
Overall, the story had a good premise. I wanted to like it. I finished it despite the challenges, because I wanted it to be better. I likely won't continue with this series.

Erebus Academy is my first academia book, so I didn't know what to expect, but I was instantly hooked! The different houses, trials, secret missions, and constant scheming kept me wanting to know what would happen next.
Enemies-to-lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and this book delivered it just the way I like! The banter between Sera and Killian was so good. I love their dynamic, the push and pull and the way they constantly got under each other’s skin was so much fun to read 🤭
Sera is such a badass. She’s fierce, determined, and refuses to back down. I loved watching her navigate the challenges thrown her way, spitting fire at every turn. Killian was the perfect mix of possessive, smug and charming. He knew exactly how to get under Sera’s skin, and I loved every second of it.
A huge thank you to the author for the e-ARC, I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait for book 2!
