Starstorm #3

All the Pain of Promises

Rate this book
An arranged marriage. A failed courtship. And broken hearts.

Solarius has grown accustomed to being unloved, though nothing prepares him for being tasked to marry the one female in Aeramere who loathes him. Granted, he and Narissa have a troubled past, but now they will be forced to endure whatever fate awaits them together…be it marital spats or impending war.

As suspicions toward his mother grow, Solarius knows he should focus on uncovering the truth of his bloodline, yet a new distraction with frosty green eyes has taken hold of his thoughts. Unfortunately for Solarius, he wants the one thing he can’t have—his wife.

An undeniable bond. A crucial promise. And devastating secrets.

After their disaster of a courtship, Narissa takes comfort in her loneliness, brewing potions and playing the harp. Now, there’s no escaping the male who stole her heart then cast her aside. When their magic claims one another in a moment of weakness, Narissa can no longer deny the bond between them, even if it’s the only thing she’s ever wanted.

But Solarius breaks promises as easily as he breaks hearts, and when he fails to keep his word, Narissa finds herself in a harrowing predicament. One that can only end in scandal. As shocking truths are revealed, Solarius and Narissa must confront their past, or risk losing all that remains of their future.

Because even the stars keep secrets.

And Narissa, stars bless her, was neither sweet nor enjoyable. She was an ocean made of fire.

4.5 stars

It was a pretty fucking perfect wedding, save for one minor detail.
His bride.

This is definitely my favourite in the series so far! Ohmygod, I loved Narissa and Solarius together! And Solarius was the definition of playboy to simp, and it was perfect and gave me life.

Narissa patched up her broken heart and channeled that misplaced anger into an esteemed hatred for him, and now he planned on fucking the word hate right out of her vocabulary.

Hillary really knows how to create an atmospheric read filled with tension and intrigue. Since this was a second-chance romance, it was definitely character-driven and I was here for it 👏 but also, the reason behind the need for a second chance was awful - awful for Narissa cuz wft I was so sad for her😭

“You are an ocean made of fire, and my soul burns for you. I would gladly drown in your tumultuous sea of emotions if it meant you were only ever mine. Moonrise to moonfall, so long as the tides continue to kiss the shore, I will forever in this life, and every life thereafter, love only you.”

The world-building is expanded with each book that comes out and I'm so excited for how this underlying plot is going to evolve, and I need the next book nowww because omg the epilogue has me squealing

Thank you, Hillary, for this ARC!

If she’d let him, if she hadn’t run from him, he would have worshipped her like the moon. Gazed upon her like the stars. Unraveled her like the endless night.

🌍𝕎𝕠𝕣𝕝𝕕 𝕓𝕦𝕚𝕝𝕕𝕚𝕟𝕘, 𝕨𝕣𝕚𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕡𝕒𝕔𝕚𝕟𝕘:
I have to say I'm an auto fan of this author, Hillary writes books that are comforting and have me kicking my legs. This one is no exception. It's easy to read and cute, but with just enough of and drama and tension to drive it forward. Hillary writes gorgeous romantasy worlds with so much detail and yet no info dumps or confusing descriptions.

This book is based around another one of the starstorm siblings, but it also explores the burden of duty, societal expectations, and the lasting effects of the death of their father. I love a secrets and betrayal trope, and these are some sinister secrets!
And let's not forget that the danger to Aeremere that draws ever closer, before everything changes...

In these books, the romance is the main focus, but I absolutely love the mystery, danger, magic, and forboding plot of something sinister coming our way that threatens war throughout the realms!
>>>This one does have a history of heartbreaking assault that is brought to light during the book, so please check your trigger warnings.

The world building, as always, was STUNNING! From the gorgeous descriptions of clothes and the opulence of the houses to the world around them, Hillary offers you an easy to imagine, beautiful, and magical world!

Just like the previous books, there were great one-liners and character banter.

🧝‍♂️ℂ𝕙𝕒𝕣𝕒𝕔𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕤:
One of the great things about this series is how easy it is to connect with and love the characters.

I have enjoyed the mmc Sol in the previous books, so I was excited to know this was his story. I appreciated his banter and protectiveness previously but it was great to see more of his personality traits shine- he was also romantic, tender, and someone whos not afraid to get stuck in or take action if needed. And he's someone who is not too proud to beg or worship his lady on his knees...

The relationship between the main characters (this time we're following one of the brothers) was steeped in almost intolerable tension from years of pining, misunderstandings, and heartbreak that just makes you want to scream! The back & forth in this book is deliciou, and the “my wife” moments are *chef’s kiss* As for the spice, it was definitely spicing. I’ll just give you two words: mirror scene 🥵

I don't mind a miscommunication trope, but I have to say I got annoyed/frustrated with it a lot. For me, it just went too long, and I feel like the ending was rushed and not at all like the previous books.

I love that Narissa was a herbalist, and i truly enjoyed the plot twists that came with it. It was great to see that the herbalist side wasn't just a quirk chucked into her personality but a part of the story.

😥𝕎𝕙𝕪 𝕟𝕠 𝕗𝕚𝕧𝕖 𝕤𝕥𝕒𝕣𝕤?
It just wasn't as addictive as the previous two, and the miscommunication went on too long and went too far for me.

⏳ 𝕎𝕠𝕦𝕝𝕕 𝕚 𝕣𝕖-𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕕 𝕠𝕣 𝕣𝕖𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕞𝕖𝕟𝕕?
Yes, absolutely! To both!

🪧𝔽𝕚𝕟𝕒𝕝 𝕥𝕙𝕠𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥𝕤:
This series is one you can genuinely read as a standalone or a series, and although they are detailed and beautifully written, they are not heavy reads. They're really great for a forboding but cozy pallete cleanser.

⭐️ DNF

⭐️⭐️
I managed to finish it but it was rubbish. I won't keep a physical copy and won't recommend it, but  it's a shame as the plot could have made a good book in another authors hands

⭐️⭐️.5
It was OK. I wish i didn't start this one as It didn't do it for me as I struggled to read it. It had an interesting premise that fell flat but I had to see what happened in the end.

⭐️⭐️⭐️
I don't regret reading it, and I will read the next one, but this one did have a few flaws. [These could be repetative writing, gaps or plot holes, better character growth or world building, areas needing more detail]
Generally, the book lacked depth and became confusing. The plot resonated with me even though it annoyed me on the whole.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
I'm glad I read it. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to the right people, but I wanted more! Sadly, it's easily forgettable with a few issues I just couldn't overlook/get past.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Good book! I loved it, but... I needed more! I really did enjoy it, but it had a few parts that needed more detail or added history/background or lore. But that's because the story or characters were memorable, and the plot was strong with brilliant twists. I would re-read if I needed to catch up for the next book and would recommend.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Great book! I truly wish the story had been thought about more, or the author had been given more time as this book is so close to brilliance! I will likely read again and will definitely be recommending to all!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
WOW! Absolutely amazing book! Well written with great characters and a plot so memorable that it will stay with me. I will definitely read this again, I will be recommending it and sharing it with the whole world! Also- I NEED A PHYSICAL COPY!

🔥⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🔥
This is my God level tier. The book must be perfectly memorable. Even after reading 50+ more books, I will remember character names and emotions along with the plot. If there is a special edition, then I need to own it! If there is a conversation on books- I'm talking about this!

 SPICE SCALE:
🌶️– segsual language and a little on-page action

🌶️🌶️– a lot of segsual language and some on-page open door action, may be occurring a couple of times

🌶️🌶️🌶️– a lot of explicit action and dirty talk, occurring frequently with 2/3 lurvers

Nerissa believes herself to be a wallflower— unimportant, forgettable, undesirable—exactly why she believes Sol suddenly ended their prior courtship years ago. Sol struggles with his desire to protect Nerissa and to piece back together what they lost. If only she’d let him try. Sol and Rissa undoubtedly yearn for each other, yet nothing compares to the storm that brews in their hearts.

This installment also dives into the heart of the Starstorm clan, exploring the burden of duty, societal expectations, and the rippling effects of the loss of their father. As sinister secrets are uncovered and the danger to Aeremere draws closer, everything changes.

In ATPOP, Hillary brings all the heartache. Each page thrums with tortuous angst and repressed longing. Buckle up— this wild winged horse journey will have you on edge and swooning in equal measure!

Tropes:
- Arranged Marriage
- Second Chance
- 10 Things I Hate About You coded
- Mutual Pining
- Snark & Banter
- Obsessed Hero
- Consent King
- Fated Mates
- "My Wife"

I have been impatiently anticipating Solarius & Narissa’s story, & it did not disappoint! After a previous failed courtship, they outwardly loathe one another, while inwardly pining for each other. Enter an arranged marriage, & sparks fly, delivering first-rate banter & delicious tension.

One of the great things about the books in this series is how easy it is to connect with the characters, & that continues with Sol & Rissa. I adore Narissa. She is bright, witty, & soft yet fierce. And Solarius! Based on the first 2 books, I was expecting him to be more broody. And he was at times, but he was also romantic, tender, protective, & a man of action. One who is not too proud to beg & worship on his knees 🫠

Their second chance story is everything I hoped it would be. The back & forth is excellent, the angst & pining is just right, & the “my wife” moments are *chef’s kiss* As for the spice, it was definitely spicing. I’ll just give you two words: mirror scene 🥵 And it’s not often that I see a harp, but I will never look at one the same again.

Hillary writes romantasy worlds that are simultaneously well-built & easy to read. Not once have I felt bogged down by information in this series, nor have I felt confused or like that information was lacking. This book, like the first two, kept me rapt, engaged, & continually turning the pages. It’s hard to pick a favorite couple because I have loved them all so far, but Sol & Rissa might just be it.

If you haven’t picked up this series yet, I encourage you to give it a try. I have been eating it up, & I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book!

⚠️ Trigger Warning: This book contains content that may be difficult for some readers, including memories/mention of past S.A., abuse, & death of a family member, so please check the content warnings.

I have really enjoyed this series! The world this author has created is so interesting and immersive. I’ve really enjoyed the Bridgerton vibes with the sibling dynamics and the matchmaking antics. I also appreciate that there is a mysterious overarching plot full of secrets and twists which really came to a head in this book!

This one may be my new favorite in the series (though, it’s a close call between this one and All the Chaos of Constellations)! ✨

The banter?? The chemistry?? The tension?? Ahhhh, so good. 😍 If you’ve been following for a while, you may know that I loveeee an angsty second chance romance and this one definitely delivered! When they realize they never truly stopped loving each other even when they had convinced themselves they hated each other?? Love!! 🥹 Then also adding on an arranged marriage trope (which I also love—hello, “my wife” lines 🫠), I couldn’t put this one down!

Honestly, my heart hurts for them for the years they lost out on and for their pain when they learn what truly happened between them to end their previous courtship (def. check the trigger warnings btw). 😭 I am so glad they were able to move past it and find their HEA! They are really good together and I loveeed how Solarius was absolutely gone for her. The mutual pining was delicious (especially with the Dual POV) and when they finally resolve things and get together, the chemistry is explosive. 😍 and how their magic compliments the other’s?? Perfect. 🥹

Anyway, I’m definitely excited for book 4 to see what is going to happen with the overarching plot with the way this one ended!! 😱 I also am very excited to get the love stories of more of the siblings as we’ve gotten some teasers for future pairings! 🤗

READ THIS, READ THIS NOW. chef's kiss!

Raymer stuns with an amazing story, fully fleshed cast of characters, yearning, unique spice between husband and wife, and that tasteful 'Bridgerton miscommunication' that's so difficult to achieve!

Narissa is such a creative and I loved reading about her hobbies and man did I feel for her in the reveals. Solarius is such an amazing man, brother, husband, and it was sooo fun to read his perspective... I LOVE when MEN yearn.

And don't even get me started on Solarius' brothers and sisters, I love all of them so much and I immediately thought I needed more of Caelian and Kjeld, the HEARTBREAK. And guess what, Raymer blesses us with the epilogue. iykyk. Raymer is an auto-buy for me now, SO thankful I was given the eARC.

In All The Pain Of Promises we follow Solarius and Narissa navigating their arranged marriage the only way they know how: through savage banter, sass battles, and serious 10 Things I Hate About You energy.

We’ve got “my wife” moments, “touch her and ☠️” scenes, and some slow burn tension that hurts so good. Some big plot reveals happen, but of course it brings even more questions.

This series continues to deliver, and I’m already counting down to book 4. (Yes, we know who it’s about. Yes, it’s in the epilogue. No, I won’t spoil. 👀)

::takes deep breath:: wow. I love this series so far. I don’t know if any characters will top Drake for me, but I still loved these characters tremendously. I loved Narissa’s sarcasm and smart mouth almost as much as I love Solaris’ dirty one. Also, this book felt more emotional than the previous two. I’m not sure if that’s because I am more invested in the story now that we’re on book 3, but I definitely felt like this book went deeper. The last few chapters had my heart pumping!! 10/10. No notes. Can’t wait for the next one!

✨All the Pain of Promises✨

Author: Hillary Raymer
Release: June 3, 2025

Here we are in book three of Hillary’s interconnected stand-alone Romantasy series “Starstorm” with an overarching plot. In this installment, we get to see another Starstorm match between Solarius and his lost love now turned enemy, Narissa.

Both Sol and Narissa harbor a reason for their previously ruined courtship, but they don’t line up and the truth is crazy. The pain and anguish that bloomed between then is big and the answers are difficult and mind blowing. New revelations from their past arise as well as from their family and the crown. The tension is so real, the reveals were so fun and heartbreaking, the banter made me giggle, and the romance + spice was sooo yummy.

I find myself continually intrigued with how Hillary navigates each new romance along with the overarching plot and this one did not disappoint. Everything connected so well and I just so enjoyed the dynamic between Sol and Narissa, especially getting to be in their head!

Tropes you may find in ATPOP are second chance, “where is my wife”, forced proximity, arranged marriage, harp and fairy pool scene, medium spice, pining and tension, dual POV, mind speak, elemental fae, fated mates, political intrigue, found family, plot twists, and a HEA.

Big thank you to Hillary for once again allowing me to be an arc reader for her. It such a true pleasure and y’all NEED to check this series out!!!

Solarius is a new celestial fae book bf/husband you don't want to overlook! Whew!

The chemistry between Sol and Rissa is perfection! With dashes of spice thrown in, plus a couple chapters of extra heat for good measure, you have a delectable romantasy to consume.

This book had me hooked right from the first chapter. The picture the author paints is breathtakingly beautiful. While the five Aeremere's noble houses can initially be a little complex in terms of the vast number of different family members and keeping their houses straight if this is the first book you read from the series, it isn't over explained - you get the necessities to build the story and keep it moving along smoothly. There is just enough world building and backstory info that not reading the first 2 books in the series won't be a detriment to getting the full picture of this couples story.

The complex family dynamics and the loathsome characters of Trysta and Calfair add a nice rounding out of the overall story. Be sure to read the trigger warnings before diving in, though.

I will definitely be searching for the authors' other books to consume this summer!

Thank you to the author for the ARC opportunity!

I completely adored All the Pain of Promises!!! This is Solarius and Narissa’s story, which is an arranged marriage and a second chance romance. Add in the mystery of them both have different stories of why they ended the first time and the mystery of the mother, and you get this amazing book.

I loved being back in this world, the bridgerton vibes in this magical fae world was as amazing as ever! Plus the overall plot of a war coming and what the Starstorm’s mother is up to was still intriguing.

The romance between Solarius and Narissa was incredible, filled with longing, banter, and spicy times. I loved how even when they were trying to hate each other it was obvious they loved each other. Narissa saw herself as a wallflower but she was definitely snarky and fierce. I adored how Solarius loved seeing her feisty side while being super protective of her. He’s a man obsessed with a sweet side so of course I loved him!

All the siblings in this series have my heart and I loved seeing them again! And if the epilogue is telling us whose book is next I’m beyond excited!!

I’m not sure what it is but there is just something so magical and special about this series and I am obsessed with it. I have loved each book so far and that extends to All the Pain of Promises as well! I absolutely loved the pining we got as Narissa & Solarius have a go at their second chance romance. They’re a lovers to enemies back to lovers story and the arranged marriage fit perfectly into the enemies timeline - add in a touch of miscommunication to their story that actually isn’t dragged out (I think this is the first time I’ve seen miscommunication done right) and its just perfection. I love the larger storyline of upcoming war interlaced into the books and my jaw literally dropped at some of the truths unearthed in this book. I loved how we got to know more of the Starstorm siblings this book on a more personal level and look forward to their stories even more. The spice, as always, was flawless - Hillary Raymer always includes the characters magic into the spicy moments in such unique way that leaves you eager for more! This is a must read for sure.

Thank you to Hillary Raymer for the e-ARC of this book!

Y’all know I’ve been obsessed with this series since book one, and this installment only deepened that obsession.

Narissa and Sol deliver everything: enemies-to-lovers tension, an arranged marriage, unforgettable “my wife” moments, and some truly incredible spice. 🔥

I haven’t really been enjoying smut much this year, but this book completely turned that around for me.

The romance? Immaculate.
The character development? Everything.
And the overarching political plot? It builds to a climax I genuinely did not see coming.

This was hands-down one of my favorite reads of the year.

The plot twists were solid—maybe a touch predictable—but given the romcom-meets-Fae-world, Bridgerton vibe, it struck the perfect balance without being too heavy.

If you haven’t started this series yet, this is your sign to dive in. And if you’re already hooked like I am—good news! Not long now until All the Pain of Promises hits the shelves!

How is this series managing to get even better with each book? All The Pain Of Promises (the third book in the Starstorm series) managed to immediately get me in the feels! There's pain and pining, but just the right amount! It manages to hit the sweet spot - there's just enough miscommunication and secrets between our MCs Solarius and Narissa to ramp up the tension, but it's never too much. That side of their story isn't dragged out and it never becomes annoying. Argh, it was just so good. Speaking of good, this book had some excellent spicy scenes. You like a carriage scene - how about one in the air? You like music - you'll never see a harp the same way again!

Another thing I love about this series is how well each book nudges the overall plot along, and drops little clues to future pairings. And without fail I get to the epilogue of each book and go "YES!" when I see whose book it is next. And seeing who book 4 is about, well, let's just say that I am ready for the angst!

Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy from the author, but this is my voluntary and honest review.

This world that Hillary Raymer has created I'm pretty confident is my favorite I have ever occupied for the duration of a book. The Starstorm is a series of interconnected standalones about the Starstorm siblings of House Celestine, a family of fae that have celestial magic tied to the stars or the moon. There's also fae attached to the air and to the sea/ocean. There's winged horses and dragons and balls where attendees dance on clouds. Stardust spills over waterfalls, highlights cheekbones, swirls in fountains, swirls in the air and streaks through hair. There's pink sand beaches, nearby seas, and fae flame as a light source. Just the whole aesthetic of this world speaks to my soul. It's stardust and galaxies and sea spray and foam and...just the visuals I had the whole time reading this book were just phenomenal. It's whimsical and it's magical and it's grandly beautiful. This is the fantasy world I want to inhabit. Like, at one point there's a scene where the Celestine brothers hang out and basically do target practice with bows and arrows crafted from stardust and the targets formed as constellations of stars. I need someone to make a movie of this book immediately.

And the love story is so sweet. There is some miscommunication in the first third, but the conflict ends up being so big that the miscommunication makes sense and does not bother me the way that trope normally does. And there's definitely a fated mates trope, but in the best way where there's actually good relationship building and the mate bond is not the sole thing that justifies the relationship. The pairing of Solarius and Narissa could really feasibly have ended up together and happy without the mate bond, it's more a helpful plot device as a connection to locate each other and communicate. If fated mates was always done this way, I think I'd actually like it as a trope a lot more. The chemistry and attraction, the tension, is so very much there, but so is true love. Solarius's happiest moment is when he finally makes her laugh...I mean, come on!

Solarius is such a good MMC--he's protective and honorable and righteous and chivalrous. Even though he's contracted into an arranged marriage with the woman who broke his heart, he refuses to take advantage of the arrangement, only interested in an intimate relationship if Narissa is also interested. We love a consensual king. And Narissa is so fun--she's smart and witty, feisty, but ultimately kind. Both characters have hurt each other really badly in the past, but via a situation that was neither of their faults. Their breakup is actually pretty tragic and the recovery from it for both of them is pretty beautiful.

Watching these two idiots navigate their second chance romance (okay they're not really idiots--they both actually have some pretty significant trauma related to their breakup to heal from and work through together--but their misunderstandings about their own feelings and the feelings of each other does sometimes make them a little bit idiots) is pretty fun and it progresses pretty organically. Rather than spending the whole book in misunderstanding, there are increments of relationship growth that are really satisfying.

I cannot gush about this book enough and I can't wait for more books in the series.

Thanks to the publisher for the ARC copy of this book to review.

Another lovely addition to the Starstorm Series.
This books focuses in on the Starstorm brother Solarius.
We dive right into the arranged marriage between Solarius and his previous ex girlfriend.
Spoiler alert - the do not get on.
There is angst, pining and gutwrenching reveals for this couple and their journey to find happiness.
Outwith the romance and regency style balls we discover even more about the overarching plot that may take down the monarchy.
There are also hints to which couple will be the centre of the next book ( personally I am dying for more Prince Aspen).

This fae-meets-bridgerton-meets-world changing doom really hits the spot.
Highly recommend if you like-

A Great Read! 📚

While I knew it was going to be hard to top Drake and Creslyns story (Book 2) this was still great in its own way!

Narissa and Solarius were such a troubled couple, coming to terms with an arranged marriage and hardly being able to even look at each other.

All The Pain Of Promises is book 3 in The Starstorm series, where each book follows a different set of characters. This one was a second chance romance and was a bit of a mystery!

I enjoyed the banter and back and forth and felt the duel POV from both the FMC and the MMC really helped the flow and dialogue work together extremely well.

This book felt a little more on the 'regency' style compared to book 1 and 2 and wasn't heavily focused on their magic side of things.

I adore Hillarys writing and this was no exception. Im VERY much so looking forward to book 4 if it's about who I think it is 👀👀👀

“Moonrise to moonfall, so long as the tides continue to kiss the shore, I will forever in this life, and every life thereafter, love only you.”

I have been waiting for book 3 of the Startstorm series since I devoured book 2 and it did not disappoint. I loved Narissa and Solarius’ dynamic. We knew from the other books that it was going to be a second chance romance and a lovers to enemies to lovers but learning what happened during their first courtship blew my mind. I loved these two together, they may be my new favorite couple in the series. The pool scene was probably my favorite. Spicy and funny, just perfection.

I did not see the ending coming, I can’t wait to see where this series goes with the impending war hanging over the siblings heads. What will they do now that Trysta’s true nature has finally been exposed? I need book 4, I’m thinking we are going to get Caelian and Kield’s book!

ARC Review:

This book had me from the start! Highly entertaining and gripping from cover to cover. This was the first I had read of the series, but I didn’t feel lost or confused at all. The author does a great job of not spoiling too much if this was the first read, but also making sure you aren’t missing anything.

Full of tension and two MCs who deeply long for one another but equally hate each other due to a failed courtship…Both Narissa and Solarius were easy to empathize with and relate to. Fierce, forthright, and intelligent, Narissa brought so much strength and perception to the story. Solarius was kind, protective, and possessed a strength and determination of his own. I enjoyed reading both of their povs.

Each side character was also well represented and their appearances always advanced the plot or added to the scene in crucial ways. I loved Solarius’s sisters!
The characters had depth, intrigue, and development that brought the story full circle.

The world was rich and the descriptions were enchanting. I loved the magic system. It was refreshing to see something different! I also liked the way the courts and each person’s powers were so unique, yet related to the overarching element of their court, and were all beautifully entwined with the story.

The plot was well executed and balanced with the romance, although I’d say the plot was still very character-driven, but that’s completely okay with me!

I will DEFINITELY be reading more from this author and any further sequels! Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this arc.

I always think, when finishing a Hillary Raymer book, that a better one is not possible. And every time, she proves me wrong. This book is Bridgerton meets 10 Things I Hate About You meets Fae Fantasy! I absolutely adores Solarius as a MMC and loved Narissa as a FMC. Their chemistry was evident from the beginning and their banter was *chefs kiss*. HR mentioned that even though these are stand-alones, they should still be read in order bc there is another storyline that weaves throughout the romance matches.

This book had tension, spice, heartache, and some intrigue.

3.5⭐️ tons of angst + a whole lot of pining is normally the perfect formula for a book i'd be obsessed with. however, this fell flat due to the extreme predictability of the plot and HEAPS of miscommunication from both FMC & MMC. honestly, there was a huge ~lack~ of communication all around tbh. still an enjoyable story, but book 1 is by far the best in my opinion. I am still going to continue with the series though, especially since the overarching plot is starting to really pick up and the next couple announced is one i've been waiting for!

Too much Bridgerton, not enough magic

I absolutely loved the first 2 books in the Starstorm series but this one fell flat. The romance and the FMC/MMC were mediocre. It's hard to top Drake's story and this one couldn't compete. There wasn't enough fantasy/magic to entertain that side of a romantasy. I'm intrigued to see what happens with the Kjeld and the Prince so I'll keep reading the series but much like season 3 of Bridgerton, this was just ok.

I loved it. Loved that it was dual POV and so it gave you a full picture of what happened in the past.

I really enjoy seeing the all the siblings and getting more of the couples we read about earlier as well as more little easter eggs on the future sibling books.

Sol and Narissa's magic was perfect.

Hillary always has the best descriptions on everything.

Hillary does it again- honestly I love this entire series.
The Bridgerton but make it Fae vibes are *chef’s kiss*.
The banter was def on point and was for sure giving “10 things I hate about you” which my millennial self LOVED.
Sol and Narissa are the cutest and their relationship evolution was so fun to read. You’re gonna love their “hate” to love progression.

One of my favorite parts of this series is getting glimpses into where each sibling’s story will go while also enjoying each book as a standalone. Each book is a fun journey within the same world with the same characters, but there is no stress with cliff hangers!

I loved this second chance, arranged marriage romance between Solarius and Narissa. Their banter and slow burn chemistry was perfect. I love the way Hillary describes this world, it sounds absolutely beautiful and I wish I could experience it for myself. This instalment of the series definitely gives off Bridgerton vibes which I loved! Right down to a certain spicy carriage scene and a family full of siblings to be married off.
I'm interested to see what will happen next between certain characters.

Hillary did it again. I loved the twists and turns this third installment threw at me. Narissa and Solarius will continue to grow together and make sure each other sees their worth. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Aeramere.

I absolutely loved and devoured this! As usual, Hillary created a beautiful story in a beautiful world. This is the 3rd installment in the Starstorm Series.

In this one, we follow Solarius & Narissa. After a failed courtship, they are forced to get married. And although they don't hide how much they dislike each other, the reason for it is even worse.

I love the banter Sol & Narissa have. Each time Hillary writes a book & I think I already have a favorite couple, she has to show me I was wrong.

Narissa is so strong, smart & fierce. She has had to overcome so much. And Sol isn't as broody as i thought he'd be. He's strong, protective, supportive, sweet & just so yummy! I love how he helps Narissa overcome things. Especially when it involves some spice.

I didn't expect the twists. And the spice...was sooooo good!! Hillary did not disappoint! I can't wait for the next one!

Tropes:
Fated mates
Arranged marriage
Found family
Second chance
Forced proximity
Betrayal
