Mass panic, hysteria, ominous gifts, and a string of robberies. Serenity Springs will never be the same…
PI Bridget Hartley has had her life turned upside down. While investigating a string of robberies. She finds herself tied to a case that has her feeling as though she’s being hunted down.
While trying to catch the robbers, strange packages begin to arrive on Birdie’s doorstep. With every “gift” more ominous than the last, It seems that there’s someone targeting her and the women closest to her.
With the small community doing its best to come together for the holidays, And danger and chaos brewing in the midst, It seems the price of these secret packages comes with bloodlust intent.
Manipulations, great deception, thievery, and every twisted thing in between. Penance has come, and Birdie will do everything to bring the wicked to judgement.
Elle Gray lives in a small town with her 2 cats, and her handsome husky. As a girl, she was obsessed with crime novels and thrillers.
Today, she loves writing and creating thrilling novels with courageous, strong heroes/heroines and dangerous psychopaths. She invites you to join her exciting world of detectives and FBI agents that take down killers and kick butt.
As much as I enjoy reading these books, I need an ending to at least one major plot point. All these books do are lead to other questions: Who is she going to end up with romantically? Where in the heck is her sister? What’s going on with Black Lantern? Give us readers something concrete, please.
This story was full of intrigue. The characters are intertwined in a way that makes sense and its written so the reader feels like we know them. The story is written is plain everyday language that makes the story that much more realistic. The main character, Birdie is in.such a unique position for a job. She is a brave insightful investigator and a bulldog when she gets a lead between her teeth. I can't wait to read what comes next.
I personally had a hard time getting into this one. Found it confusing at the start. Eventually started coming around. One thing I know for sure is, not gonna live anywhere near Serenity Springs this place is creepy. This Black Lantern crew what ever they are is something like a cult. Birdie and crew are really at a loss of crazy town people.. The murders are being done by some deranged people....

Somehow even though it's the fifth book in the series, it has a fresh feeling. The characters are old friends now and we're introduced to new ones. You can start at the first book in the series, my recommendation or read this as a stand alone book. Either way, enjoy.
K.S. Gray and Elle Gray, have a way of writing, that puts you on the edge of your seat, like you are in the book living it in real time. Their books are just too hard to put down. I’m blaming them for lack of sleep. Definitely waiting for the next book or series to begin.
This book will hook you from the beginning and never let go until the end. So many twists and turns it will keep you in suspense and holding your breath wondering what comes next. The authors do not disappoint in keeping your attention.
Interesting story that covers a number of things that everyone is trying to solve. Breaking street lights, invading businesses, taking women and killing an individual. The findings are surprising as it is people who seem to be helping are guilty.
Well, I am still hounded by the underlying mystery of the Black Lantern and the missing women. Where are they and just how deep does this organization run? Looks like I have a lot of reading yet to finish. Will we ever know the entire truth?
This a great story about Birdie and trying to solve what is going on in her town and solving it with lots of suspense and action. Thank you for this awesome story.
