Sometimes, the best way to find yourself is by moving in with a stranger… even if she’s family
When thirty-five-year-old Sophia Harper loses her job and her apartment in the same week, she’s left with no choice but to move in with her eccentric aunt Betty on Maplewood Lane. Expecting a quiet and boring life, Sophia is instead greeted by a whirlwind of zany neighborhood antics, impromptu dance parties, and a house filled with more knick-knacks than she thought possible.
As Sophia navigates her new life with Aunt Betty—who insists on morning yoga and afternoon tea with the neighbors—she starts to uncover pieces of herself she didn’t know were missing. Between the quirky townspeople, a potential new career as a cupcake baker, and the unexpected attention of a charming local handyman, Sophia’s life takes a turn she never saw coming.
But when a long-buried family secret emerges, Sophia must decide whether to retreat back to her old life or embrace the chaos of Maplewood Lane. Can she learn to trust herself, and her heart, enough to stay?

Sophia left her home in a small town after high school and really never returned. She came back for her mothers funeral but she has a job at a bank and puts all her time into that. She shares an apartment with her best friend and everything is working out well.... Then the floor drops out of her life. Her boss at the bank tells her that he thinks she is not happy with her job and that a younger person with more enthusiasm is taking over and her best friend and her fiance have decided to buy a house and move in together. Her boss thinks that she needs some time to decide what to do with her life and so he gives her two months off with pay so she can explore other options that might be more to her liking. He does say he will hire her back in two months but if you read between the lines that is not going to be happening. And the third strike out is her landlord informs her that although she thought she could renew her lease on her own, they are going to make changes to the apartment and that it will not be available for rent. Plus, there are no other places available in the building to put her until her place is available and then because they are upgrading everything the price will be increasing and Sophia knows she would not be able to cover the rent. SO what is someone to do. Pack up what you need and put the rest of your things in storage, call your aunt who was given you mothers house and head home. But wait everything seems strange, her aunt is different and as she can see really does not want her there. But, she has no where else to go so they will have to make the best of things. As time goes on so many comments are made that don't add up, the town is the same but different, friends of her aunts start to drop little hints and oh my, there is a gorgeous hunk that lives in the town and makes her stomach butterflies swoop and swarm every time she is around him. To end this section of the story, her aunt drops a bombshell on her. What does this all mean? Who is she? Who was her mother? Who was her father? Time will tell and so we move on to book 2. Sage Parker is marvelous at always leaving you wanting more.

So exciting to start a new series by this wonderful author, Sage Parker
Sophia finds herself working in the same bank she started in 10 years previously when graduating from college She is bored and very unhappy with her work life and life in general and finds herself being “punished” at work and at home. Her roommate, Claire tries to convince her that she is being given new opportunities rather than being punished. Sophia takes this under advisement and decides to go home to see her Aunt Betty for an extended visit to try to get her life on a more even keel. Even is far from what happens as she soon recalls that St Simons is a town where everyone knows everyone else’s business. This creates new issues for her as she soon finds out there are hidden things about her own past. She is shocked with the first revealed secret Can’t wait to get the next installment.

Sophia's story really hits home, My heart was breaking for her when she arrived at her job and then for all the turn of events that followed. Sophia finally makes a decision that takes her back to her hometown and the way Miss Parker writes this story, I felt like I was going home too. This story has all the small town feels of my childhood, I loved her Aunt Betty, she is so relatable, though there is some mystery that seems to revolve around Sophia's parents and her Aunt Betty. I thoroughly enjoyed book one of Maplewood lane and look forward to reading more about Sophia and the mysteries and people of St Simons Island!

Sophia is at a crossroad. She lost her job, her roommate and best friend moved in with her boyfriend and her landlord told her she had 30 days to get out because the place needed repairs. With no work prospects, she decides to go visit her aunt who lives in her childhood home. But Aunt Betty is acting strangely. She doesn't want her to speak about her mom or listen to people's memories of her. What is going on in this small town? I received an advanced reader copy of this book, and this is my honest review.
Sophia is not happy with her life but she is not keen on taking action to change it until she has too. Moving to her childhood home where her aunt now leaves seems to be a good break from all things that are hanging above her head. Little she knows that she'll find a different aunt, a different city and many, many secrets... The House on Maplewood Lane is a short and easy read, it has a slow start but puts a lot of information out for the reader once the end of the book comes near.

I love Sage Parkers books but I wish she would put the story in one book. In this story, Sophia is at turning point in her life and everything is lining up for her to return to her childhood home on Maplewood Lane. She has been let go at work ,and her lease is up and her landlord won't renew it. So Sophia heads home but all isn't what it appears. Several people make some odd comments about her mom, and her Aunt Betty is obviously hiding something. What could it be? Will confronting her get information?

Everything in her life just went sideways. Who gets fired for their own good? Landlord refusing to renew the lease even if she could afford it? Out of options she decides to visit her aunt back in her childhood home. Yet her aunt isn't acting right? What is going on? Why all the secrecy and restrictions? When and where will she find solid ground and the full truth?.

It was an interesting story line. Characters where definitely quirky as it says in the description of the book. I didn't like this story as well as some of the first books in the series, but it was different kind of story. Others may like it better than I did. So I recommend reading it for your self.
