The prophecy was fulfilled. My heart saved the world. It was over.
But I guess even after you turn the last page and close the book, the story never really ends. The heroes go home and live their lives.
“Finally,” Zee exclaimed, tossing the cookies onto the boxes and strutting toward the door. “Let’s go and Scooby-Doo the fuck out of this furry whodunnit.”
“Maybe he doesn’t like strangers.” It probably wasn’t every day a dashingly handsome Scout-leader vampire, a seven-foot-tall demon in glossy heels, and an average human wandered into his yard.

After a few thoughtful beats, Zander asked, “Is it French?”
“Uhm, maybe?” I wasn’t sure why the language was important, and Zee shrugged when I looked to him for an answer.
“Don’t you speak French?” I asked Zee.
“Moi? What the fuck gave you that idea?”
“You just said moi? That’s French, Zee”
His face got all gnarly with denial. “No it’s not.”
“Yeah, it is.” Wasn’t it?
“No, it’s not. It’s Zee. I speak Zee.”
Was it Zee or French? Now I wasn’t sure. 😂♥️
In the two weeks since I’d eaten Gideon Cain in full view of the world’s press, the SOS Hotel had been at full occupancy. It turned out live villain-eating made for great publicity.
Zee draped an arm over Victor’s shoulders. “This little dumb act allows me to walk the fuck all over you and get away with everything and anything I like. Or had you not figured me out yet?”
“Hm.” Victor had definitely figured that.
Sudden movement snagged my senses. A cool hand slammed over my mouth, and Victor purred in my ear. “It’s me, my dear. Do not fear.”
