Home to Collingsworth #3

Love Makes a House a Home

Rate this book
This Christian romance, Love Makes a House a Home, is book 3 in the Home to Collingsworth Series and continues the stories of the Collingsworth sisters and their struggles and triumphs as they deal with their faith, the bonds of family and love!

Lance Evanston has walked back into Jessa Collingsworth's life as abruptly as he'd left it over ten years earlier.

As the oldest sister, Jessa has had to step up into her grandmother's role as the matriarch of the Collingsworth family now that Gran has passed away. The weight of that responsibility is complicated by the return--at Gran's request--of the man who broke her vulnerable teenage heart.

Lance can't believe he's in the position of possibly having a second chance with the girl he had been forced to break up with, but whom he has never forgotten. He hopes that she'll give him a second chance, but Jessa seems unwilling to even consider giving him the time of day.

As secrets are unearthed and truths revealed, will Jessa be able to trust God to work things out for His glory? Or will she follow in her grandmother's footsteps and try to keep hidden those things that might bring harm to the family that she is now responsible for?

And will Lance be able to convince her to trust him with her heart for the second time around?

If you haven't read the first two books in this series, you definitely want to start with #1 and read them in order. Jordan just picks up the story line from the previous book and moves on with the next main character and her story. I really enjoy that. She does a good job in this book in dealing with how the wrong kind of secrets can affect so many people and their relationships. She also is good with showing how the characters grow, mature and change as they let Christ change their attitudes.

LOVE MAKES A HOUSE A HOME

I love this series, this one is Jessa's story. It's a good clean Christian romance, showcasing the struggles this family has had from their unusual upbringing.

This books is about family secrets and family ties. Ms. Jordan points out the family that's most important to belong to is the family of God. I really enjoyed Jessa's story. Now I'm ready to delve into Cami's.

Why?

Why are there so many typos? Is really detracts from the story. Please, do the work to make it the best it can be!

‘You were the prickliest of the bunch,………’ Will said to Jessa after a heart to heart in book 5 of this series. This statement sums up a part of Jessa’s character the author really brought out in this book.

It is not a nasty comment, just who Jessa is and the author has done a good job of maintaining and reflecting this of Jessa even in the other books. Her character is mostly without pretense.

I like her forthrightness, which she sometimes displayed in her relationship with Lance although I feel there, was a lack of richness in there romance. Having said that, it soothes their story.

I saw Lance as a very mature character in age and his walk with God though not sure about the tattoo and Jessa, very responsible in her position as the matriarch of the family with so much on her shoulders.

The story of Jessa and Lance

Jessa is the oldest of all the siblings and has carried the weight of all for so long it's hard for her to let go and have her own life. But Lance finally breaks the barriers and helps her realize that she is not responsible for all her sisters problems. When she starts stepping back, she finds that she has a much closer relationship with them than she ever had before. Their gran had really scarred them all. But anyway Lance shows her that she is lovable and they were meant for each other. They both have a strong belief in God and Jesus as their Savior. The whole series is great and I intend to read them all.

Secrets from the grave

Secrets from the grave

I gave the book a four star because it just seemed like it was a slower read then the other two books

Their Gran seem to have a lot of secrets. Even from the grave she was still controlling them. Do the girls even get a chance to live a normal life now that the grandmother is gone? Will they pulled together and all be happy together as sisters.

To find out what the secrets are that grandma left behind read the story....

Happy reading!

Disappointed

From the title I assumed this was a love story, but it was more about the renovation of a house. I was not interested in details about that and the author spent too much time drawing it out. I felt like she was just trying to make the book longer. I almost stopped reading it when finally something interesting happened. Then looked and the book was almost finished. This book was disappointing.

I struggled with this book. While I liked the characters of Jessa and Lance, their interactions throughout the story were few making their reconciliation seemed too easy after so many years apart. Also the request that Jessa made to Lance was never answered. I enjoyed seeing the sisters come together for the renovation project and finding out more of the secrets that their Gran kept from them. The question of what happened to the mom was answered in this one.

This is a very good series. The author has done a good job of approaching each of the ladies from the viewpoints of their sisters and then delving into each one's personal journey and the root causes of what others perceive to be personality flaws, faults and failings. External actions and reactions, what we exhibit to others, are often simply a means of cover-up and coping mechanisms.

I don't know if I'd give it a 5 and it's certainly not a "Christmas" story but it held hope. It was clean and some more mystery cleared up. Reconciliation, forgivness and live. A deep, deep read.
