Wow, book 2 leaves me with more questions than answers. Sophia learns new information about her father, leading her to need more answers but it proves challenging for her to get them. Sophia's Aunt or her aunt's friends offer little help when is come to understanding this new revelation. As she navigates the mystery surrounding her father she takes a job at a local café and fosters a budding friendship with a handsome young man named Phil. Much to Sophia's dismay her aunt disapproves of this friendship. As the book comes to a conclusion Sophia encounter's more earth shattering news. Book 2 is a definite page turner. These books fit into my busy schedule and deliver satisfaction every time. I love the mysteries surrounding Sophia, her aunt and Phil on St. Simon's Island and I 'm eager to read the next book.

Sophia has found out her dad isn't dead. But what does it mean and why was she told he was dead? Now she wonders about who her dad is and should she try to find him? As she ponders this and starts searching for a new job in Raleigh, she meets Gail, who needs a baker. With her Aunt Betty so busy, Sophia decides to work for Gail temporarily, and since she loves to bake, a good choice. But when she tells her Aunt Betty, Betty tries to talk her out of the job. Sophia is so confused about everything now. Betty doesn't want her hanging around Phil and she doesn't want her working at the Cafe. Betty is obviously hiding something but what? No one is willing to talk, not Betty's friends, not Phil, and Gail is still considered an outsider. Sophia is undecided on what to do and then she gets a mysterious letter.
Sophia is trying to figure out her life and as she is settling into, she has learned new things about her father. The secrets she has learned are making it hard for her to feel she will ever know the truth. Her Aunt Betty is the key to helping her figure out the truth and Aunt Betty is not willing to fill her in on what she knows. The twist at the end has only thrown more mystery into Sophia’s quest for the truth. I am excited for the next book in this series. St. Simons Island is full of answers for her and yet no one is willing to give her the answers.

Her Aunt Betty has been a mainstay for years in her hometown.
So why is she suddenly trying to keep her thirty something year old niece away from folks and not talking to them .
Are there hidden truths, or undetected health hazards lueking?
Trying to reclaim a spot in her hometown might be much harder than Sophia imagined, especially when folks hide behind alleged "kindness" and personal debts to her aunt.
This series is such a page Turner. There is so much weirdness going on and Aunt Betty is at the center of it all. So many secrets to uncover and new friendships to explore. This is book #2 in the St. Simons Island series by Sage Parker.
Something strange is going on in St. Simons Island. Sophia can’t seem to get a straight answer to any of her questions. She just gets weird looks when she mentions certain things or people, but no real answers. I can’t wait to see what happens next after the ending of this book!

What is going on??? Is Aunt Betty bi-polar? One minute she reveals to Sophia that her father is not dead. (A secret Sophia's mother kept from her.) The next she is criticizing everything about Sophia. She doesn't want her seeing Phil, she doesn't want her working at the bakery. What is she hiding?.
