The House on Maplewood Lane

Rate this book
Sometimes, the best way to find yourself is by moving in with a stranger… even if she’s family

When thirty-five-year-old Sophia Harper loses her job and her apartment in the same week, she’s left with no choice but to move in with her eccentric aunt Betty on Maplewood Lane. Expecting a quiet and boring life, Sophia is instead greeted by a whirlwind of zany neighborhood antics, impromptu dance parties, and a house filled with more knick-knacks than she thought possible.

As Sophia navigates her new life with Aunt Betty—who insists on morning yoga and afternoon tea with the neighbors—she starts to uncover pieces of herself she didn’t know were missing. Between the quirky townspeople, a potential new career as a cupcake baker, and the unexpected attention of a charming local handyman, Sophia’s life takes a turn she never saw coming.

But when a long-buried family secret emerges, Sophia must decide whether to retreat back to her old life or embrace the chaos of Maplewood Lane. Can she learn to trust herself, and her heart, enough to stay?

This is a light-hearted and funny tale about finding yourself where you least expect it, and the importance of family, no matter how unconventional they may be. This is Book 5 of 6. Scroll up and grab your copy today!

Sophia is back at her aunts house and again, nothing is as it seems. She has found out who her father is through a DNA test but her aunt now is more crazy than ever wanting her to remain in the house at all times so she will be safe.
She finds out that Phil has another secret and has not told her yet but when his mother arrives to play cards everyone takes a code of silence about him.
Sophia is back baking at Gail's shop and loves what she does when making a cake or cupcakes or just being the creative being she is.
In doing some research she finds a unique story about a little girl who went missing when she was young. Does this have anything to do with Phil and her family? Another road to go down and try to find out some facts.
Phil decides that something must be done about the person sending the notes to Sophia so without telling her aunt they set up a camera at the front door where the attacks have taken place.
Another note arrives and Sophia is happy that they will have the evidence but when she lets her aunt know that they have proof now Betty goes ballistic saying Sophia had no right to do that to her home and especially not telling her. Now Sophia is really confused because she thought it would be the best solution to finding out exactly who was causing them problems. She hears her aunt out on the front porch and when she goes out she finds her on a ladder, smashing the camera to bits and pieces. Seems a little over extreme right? Now we will wait for the final chapter on what exactly is going on.
I know at this point I know the answer but Sage is so good at writing these stories that I have been on the wrong track before. Can't wait to read the final installment.

Sophia gets the results of the DNA test that Brett is her actual father. She then tries to call her Aunt Betty and doesn't get a hold of her so she decides to drive to see her. Her aunt is surprised to see her and tells her that she had a problem with her phone and a friends son is fixing it. Sophia comes up with a plan that she and her aunt will leave town for a bit until things settle down. Phil comes by and without her aunt's permission he installs a video camera on the side of the house to see if they can capture the person leaving the note and destroying property. When Betty finds out about the camera she is furious that she was not asked about it, and she gets up on a ladder with a baseball bat and destroys the camera! There is one more book, I can't wait to see how this ends!

I highly recommend this series!.

Things are getting strange

Sophia is going back and forth from Raleigh to St. Simon's. Things keep happening drawing her back. Now she's not sure what to do. Sophia decides to do some research about her father but strangely she can't find much. But she does find some information about her mother. Her mother worked at a motel where a baby was killed or disappeared and that a little girl went missing from the same general area a couple years later. . She decides to discuss it with Phil but he reacts really unusual about the little girl who went missing. Then when she gets back to Betty's house she finds that another message with the front outside lights damaged was left. While talking to Betty about leaving, Sophia remembers the camera and tells Betty about it. Betty reacts strangely and while Sophia answers her phone , Betty takes out the camera. Sophia is totally shocked and wonders why Betty doesn't want to know who is leaving the threatening messages

Sophia finally finds out what the DNA test shows about who her birth father is. Now maybe she can find out who is trying to run her out of town and why. Is it because he is a candidate for Governor and is afraid she will bring this up and cause him to lose the election . Her best friend, Claire, being the voice of reason, suggests that it may not be him, as he may not have even known of her existence.
When Sophia can’t reach her Aunt Betty by phone from Claire’s home in Raleigh, she heads back to St Simons to check on her as all the threats she had received were at her Aunt’s home. She arrives to find her safe for the moment, but the mystery continues.

This instalment certainly revealed so much without really revealing much. My suspicions about Betty appear to have been spot on but I will wait until the final book to see if this is correct. She is definitely hiding quite a bit from Sophia and I feel that what we are learning now is just the tip of the iceberg not only with Betty but also Phil. There are lots of secrets and no one seems to be willing to clue Sophia to the truth and I feel that the Pandora’s box is only just being open slightly and the final book with blow the lid off completely. So anxious for the next book.

“The House on Maplewood Lane” (Book 5)

-This installment deepens the mystery as Sophia confirms Brett is her father and faces new threats. Tensions rise when she visits Aunt Betty, who reacts strongly to Phil’s secret surveillance camera. While this book adds intrigue, it mainly sets the stage for the final installment. A solid read for fans of the series, but the real answers seem to be coming in the next book!.

discoveries and emotions are intense as details of past lival dramas come to light.

creative outputs are tested as the boundaries of friendships, fears and families are also tried.

it's interesting to see what things stir fears in others, and how fear can drive folks apart - in more ways than one.

tensions seem to be running jigh as Phil and Aunt Betty both seem a bit eccentric.

I am enjoying the drama + and I'm ready for the suspense to hopefully reach an end in the final book of this series.

The House on Maplewood Lane, Book Five, finds Sophia back in Raleigh with her BFF, Claire, for legal advice. The secret of her biological father is revealed, but she heads back to St. Simons Island when she is unable to reach her Aunt Betty. She uncovers past disturbing news of the area while searching the internet. The suspense and mystery continue in this book but more questions seem to arise. The book ends in a cliffhanger.

Saint Simons Island Book 5

This book picks up and answers a few more questions in the series but also leaves a few more unanswered. If you are new to the series, I would suggest reading the first few books first. In book 5, Sophia heads back to her aunts, gets paternity results, and as previous books in the series there are crazy characters, humor and tons of excitement throughout. Quick read but definitely entertaining.

Sophia is determined to find out what is going on in her hometown and especially within her family. Betty, Betty, Betty, Betty what are you hiding?. What are you doing?? Sophia is desperate to keep herself and her Aunt safe. This book has some more questions that need answering. There is a scene involving technology that MUST be answered in the last book.

This Booksprout ARC is an interesting read with a cliffhanger that I didn’t see coming.

This series has me on my toes. All the secrecy, craziness, and mysterious happenings are keeping this story intriguing and intense. Betty has lost her mind or is she hiding something that she does not want Sophia to find out? Sophia is in for some eye openings when she gets down to finding out the truth behind everything that is happening to include Betty's involvement in all of it! I cannot not wait to read what is about to unfold!.

Book 5 in the series doesn't add much to the story, I'd really rate it as 3,5 stars. Sophie went back to Raleigh, received news about the DNA test and returned to her aunt's house. Threats continue being made but she does not intend to leave the island. More mysteries and untold stories are raised. Looking forward to reading the last installment in the series to discover the truth!

This is book #5 in the St. Simons Island series by Sage Parker.

Sophia gets the paternity test results. Does it affect her future? She learns more disturbing info. I’ve had a suspicion from early on about Aunt Betty and I think this book proved that right. I have a couple more ideas. Can’t wait for the next book to see if I am right.

‘The House on Maplewood Lane’ was suspenseful.
The intriguing plot involved revealing a person’s paternity results, visiting an aunt, reviewing previously received threats, setting a camera trap, getting to know the local handyman better, and the aunt’s reaction to discovering the camera. At that point, the long short story ended as a cliffhanger. Overall, I liked the storyline and would like to read further.

The DNA comes through and Brett is Sophia's father.
She immediately calls her Aunt Betty and gets no answer after 3-4 tries. She tries to call Phil for him to check on Betty and can't reach him either.
So, she jumps in the car and heads back to Maplewood Lane.
This is crazy!!!

Continued turmoil!

Another great book in a fantastic series as the story of Sophie continues. The turmoil and issues continue for Sophie as she learns the identity of her father. Additionally, her Aunt Betty's behaviour is suspicious. Sophie leans heavily on her friends for support as she searches for more answers. I recommend this book, series and author.

This is a light-hearted and funny tale about finding yourself where you least expect it, and the importance of family, no matter how unconventional they may be. This is a short story that ends abruptly. I don't like that.

Another amazing read/installment of this St. Simons mystery. Now we have a past kidnapping in the mix of questions that need answers. Sage Parker's amazing writing keeps you guessing with enough twists and turns it makes each book worth reading. You never know what's going to happen next. With each book, this series just gets better and better. I can't wait for the final book!.

Sophia returns to St. Simons Island after receiving the DNA results, Aunt Betty is still annoying me I really don't understand why she seems to be keeping secrets to the point of acting out irrationally. This was a great continuation and I m really interested to see what happens next.

Nice story

I enjoyed the series. The story was filled with mystery and fear. I'm glad it ended well. I didn't like that the first four books were
at one price and to finish the series they almost doubled in price.
I like your writing, but I will not read any more of your series books.
