Maybe asking my burly golden retriever contractor to be my fake fiance was a bad idea. But as the saying goes, desperate times and all that.
Listen, getting married again sounds about as fun as a shopping spree in a dumpster, so dating is definitely off the table. I’ve resisted Oakley’s tempting presence, knowing it can only lead to trouble, and I don’t need any more of that. Despite the obvious attraction, we’ve managed to keep a platonic and professional distance.
That is until my Parisian past collides with my new, simpler world. My engaged ex is back and willing to do anything to humiliate me all over again. Until now, my life mirrored a bitter cocktail, sharp and biting, but Oakley makes me want to embrace a softer, sweeter taste, just like a French Martini. Could I finally have the life I always wanted with him? Am I brave enough to try?
If this goes south, I’m in big trouble. At the very least, my heart is.

I’ve resisted Oakley’s tempting presence, knowing it can only lead to trouble, and I don’t need any more of that. Despite the obvious attraction, we’ve managed to keep a platonic and professional distance. That is until my Parisian past collides with my new, simpler world.
Things have been slowly simmering for Lowen and Oakley, and this is our chance to see just how good they can be together. They're both hot and completely adorable!
Oakley is a total sweetheart, proving what we've known about him all along, he's completely head over heels in love with Lowen... but...there's always a but...he is also nothing less than a complete gentleman. That is until things start to heat up. Lowen's past is heart breaking for him...the way his ex had treated him and the public fallout that had resulted from it. It's all explained in book #1 of the "Last Call" series. This had all led to him escaping and then to open a bar with some very loyal and good friends in a small town.
A surprise event has Lowen needing Oakley's help, who of course is only too happy to step up and give Lowen his support. What begins as a fake engagement quickly leads to something with benefits as Oakley slowly opens Lowen's closed-up walls with his charm, sexy ways and a commitment to Lowen being absolutely, 100% perfect just exactly the way he is. Lowen's self-esteem badly needed to be build back up after his ex-lover had tried to break him down. Oakley was the perfect guy for that; it's knowing that he could find that within himself that was truly special, and just for him. I loved the moment of unintentional revenge that comes at the end! Wait for it. It's worth the entire story!
This is another fantastic read in the "Last Call" series. I understand that there are two more yet to come and I cannot wait!! This group of men are such a perfect blend of "found family" who love and support one another through the good times and the bad. We should all be so lucky you have friends like these.

Characters: Lowen and Oakley
This is a really lighthearted, sweet, fun series. Each book is mostly character and romance centered and full of completely loveable characters with plenty of laughs along the way. It's easy to fall in love with the heroes of every single book and the entire friend group and found family.
This one is no different. But I actually got a bit choked up around the 75% mark. Seeing Lowen realize how much he mattered and was not forgotten or swept under the rug after his messy divorce was fantastic. Seeing him rebuild his confidence along the way and how he shined at that moment was so satisfying. And Oakley was everything. He was patient, attentive, supportive, loyal, dedicated...honestly, he was completely perfect. And the story has a few nods towards beauty and the beast. They are very subtle and maybe I was seeing what I wanted to, but I swear I saw some parallels.
I am just thoroughly enjoying this series! Perfect easy quick reads with lots of heart, delicious steam, and loveable characters. Light angst and drama, and safe and all inclusive. If you're looking for something to make you feel good this series is perfect.

This is a nice addition to the Last Call series. I loved both Lowen and Oakley, and it was nice seeing the guys from the first two books, along with those whose books have yet to be published.
As with the first two, the sex starts pretty quick with Lowen and Oakley, though they have known each other for a year at the time of their story.
So maybe not so quick. :)
My favorite part of the book by far was watching Lowen's ex get his.

Lowen and Oakley are so adorable! Their fake engagement romance is steamy, low angst and sweet. Lowen is reluctant to try for something more as he’s been burned before, but the more they pretend the more real they become. I especially loved how devoted Oakley was to Lowen and how much he doted on him. He is the epitome of a book boyfriend, showing incredible patience and compassion. I have really enjoyed this series and these characters. They’ll be a comfort reread for sure!

Big Bear and his Spicy Kitten
I am so in love with this one! Lowen and Oakley are just the absolute best and I love them soooooooo much! I absolutely loved that Oak called him a spicy kitten! It was perfection! Oh and to get a glimpse of the vampire boys in New Oynx…LOVE IT!

This story was exactly what I wanted for these characters 🙌😂 they spend so much time on page having conversations (versus the internal thoughts of books one & two), and yet I still wanted more scenes of them during the week in New Onyx.

I just adore when Mia goes back to contemporary and mixes her New Onyx world seamlessly in. Lowen comes to Willow Bay to escape his life in Paris anreunite with his friends to run Moby's. Oakley is the contractor hired to make Mobys shine. These two have had chemistry since the beginning, yet both are gun shy to try something real. What starts with a favor turns to something real when Oakley shows Lowen what it's like to be truly appreciated. Adored how Oakley slots into all the lives of the men living in the estate yet is completely devoted to Lowen.

Notes I took while reading:
I feel like the story dropped us in a few chapters too far. It was weird pacing-wise for Lowen to start the whole "omg I ruined our friendship because I crossed the platonic line" when we hadn't even seen the friendship between Oakley and Lowen to begin with. Breaking from the status quo feels a lot less impactful wheN we don't even know what was normal in the first place.
I hated Lowen just constantly explicitly saying that he's emotionally closed off. Having him think stuff like "My heart is firmly protected by steel walls and I won't tear them down" or "And that's exactly why I can't trust anyone again" was sooooooo boring. It's such a lazy way of characterizing someone. If Lowen truly was closed off, then we should've seen that through his interactions with people, not just mentioned repeatedly through internal monologues.
"We made out all night but he didn't bring it up, so obviously we're just platonic" was dumb imo. If the story wasn't going to have either of them bring it up, then it really should've just happened later when it would've made an impact. The only thing having Oakley and Lowen make out that early do was make the pacing confusing because it didn't affect the story at all. It would've been one thing if they acted weird towards each other afterwards, but since they both basically ignored it, it just felt like a waste of a first kiss. I guess it showed us that Oakley and Lowen knew they were both physically attracted to one another, but why couldn't that just come out in the more standard way as they spent more time with one another?
Why did the story make a big deal out of Lowen saying "I want to be on my knees for you"? Uh, Oakley literally said a much more intense version of "I want to give you a BJ" just a page ago, so why was Lowen saying a more tame version worth pointing out?
I gave up when it was clear that Oakley and Lowen were already basically in love. They moved too quickly, basically getting into a relationship and expressing sentimental feelings on page 40. Where was the set up? The tension? Starting the story off with them making out without any build up to it did not help.
TL;DR: Instalove with a lack of tension. Lazy characterization (Lowen especially). 1.5 stars rounded up.

Oakley and Lowen have had some serious chemistry since the moment they met and it was finally their time to shine! Oakley is the epitome of the perfect book boyfriend and I adored him so much. He has carried a torch for Lowen since the beginning but he knew Lowen was not ready for anything and he respected that and lived his life in the meantime. Then the day comes when Lowen comes to him asking for a big favour and Oakley was ready to say this is the time to shoot my shot and he was gonna give it his all! He knew this was the perfect time to make it 100% fully clear to Lowen what he wanted and show all his cards because he would never have a better opportunity.
‘French Martini’ was everything I was hoping it would be. While Lowen didn’t NEED a saviour, he DESERVED someone to step in and be the strong person he has always had to be which allowed him to finally be vulnerable. I have seriously enjoyed all the books in this series so far but this was probably my favourite. Reading about the prickly high walls person, slowly lower them when they realise their partner is a safe space who won’t use their insecurities against them is always a beautiful thing to read.

I am loving this series and French Martini is right there with the previous books in the series. Oakley has been attracted to Low since the first time he set eyes on him. Lowen doesn't want to be with anyone after his last disaster of a relationship, but when his ex is going to be showing up in his life again he needs help from a friend. Low(en) thinks this will be simple, but Oakley is playing for keeps.
I had such a good time with this story. The cast of characters are fantastic and have varied viewpoints between them all. I love the friendship, compassion, humor, steadfast loyalty, and determination that the characters have. Low's friends give him the strength to ask for what he needs. Oakley gives him the reminder that he is an amazing person that no one gets to belittle, and he give's himself the ability to acknowledge his feelings and desires.
I think that this is a fantastic book with humor, strength, love, compassion, and determination. I truly believe that you will love this story and the amazing characters within.

We finally get to see behind Lowen's aloof and mysterious attitude. He had built a strong wall around his heart to hide and avoid any further pain. But good thing Oakley is in the construction business and had the right tools to get through that wall. Oakley was so patient and understanding of Lowen's struggle. He was never pushy or demanding with Lowen, but provided guidance and support as Lowen reached each phase of healing, vulnerability, and acceptance. Loved that Oakley was not his "savior" but the strong supporter and cheerleader Lawson needed to find himself again. They were so sweet (and hot) together. And great partners when dealing with a scum bag of an ex. Their group of friends were always available to give relief from the emotional moments with their humorous banter and teasing.
This book is part of the Last Call series but the other books don't need to be read to understand and love this book. However, do recommend reading them since it's about about a group of loyal friends who are very involved in each other's lives.

This is book 3 in the Last Call series by Mia Monroe. I'm so happy that Lowen and Oakley finally get their story.
I wasn't crazy about the crossover part with New Onyx and the guys from the Immortal Assassin series. I'm one of those readers that prefers to keep their contemporary characters separate from their PNR characters. It was a very small part of the book so it wasn't a showstopper for me and hopefully won't be for you.
I love how these two got together using the fake boyfriend/fiance trope. Something delicious always happens between characters involved in this make believe plot. I was rooting for Oakley from the beginning. I knew with a name like Oak he would be able to crack that tough outer shell of Lowen's.

This is book 3 in the Last Call series by Mia Monroe. I'm so happy that Lowen and Oakley finally get their story.
I wasn't crazy about the crossover part with New Onyx and the guys from the Immortal Assassin series. I'm one of those readers that prefers to keep their contemporary characters separate from their PNR characters. It was a very small part of the book so it wasn't a showstopper for me and hopefully won't be for you.

Lowen has been licking his wounds left by his horrible no-good terrible ex. And running Moby’s has been the best distraction. Including a distraction from the tempting Oakley. The contractor who is definitely interested in him.
It’s a fun story - I love a fake relationship with a side of revenge that ends in perfect love. And it was great to see Lowen restore his sense of self and worth.
PS. they really do suck at being fake! Which made it so much better. Because no matter how much Lowen tried to avoid feelings, there was no possibility of that happening.

This is book 3 in The Last Call series and was absolutely amazing! I couldn’t put it down! Lowen and Oakley are absolutely adorable together! They had some strong chemistry right from the start but Lowen is very gun shy after a very bad divorce in Paris and has sealed his heart off. Oakley is so patient and caring! Absolutely a sweetheart! Things take a turn and Lowen asks him to be his fake fiancé and Lowen really gets the chance to show Lowen how he should be treated and that he’s the best man for the job! These two clicked on so many levels and Oakley fit in perfect with all the guys! I absolutely love how Mia brings this series into the New Onyx world with Yves and the guys! A fantastic book and so very enjoyable! Absolutely loved it and so looking forward to the next one! This is my honest opinion of this complimentary copy of this book

The book centers around that love and how Oakley has the patience of a saint when it comes to Lowen. He’s determined to be with Lowen. While Lowen is determined to push Oakley away. If you are a Mia Monroe fan, there’s a sweet little nugget in this book just for you. If you’re not, then I think this nugget will have you wanting to research things out more. So, once again Mia has pulled out another amazing book. 5 stars for French Martini (Last Call Book3). 💜

This is the third in the Last Call series, and I've been waiting for Lowen's story since we met him in the first book. I wasn't disappointed at all with this story. Lowen has been through a lot before we meet him, and is more than a little wary about getting involved with anyone. Oakley is perfect for Lowen, patient, understanding, and I really enjoyed their story.
I really liked Oakley too, his persistence in pursuing something with Lowen never felt overbearing or too much, he was so perfectly patient and understanding all while waiting for Lowen to see what was right in front of him all the time. I liked the dynamic between the two very much too, there is a ton of heat in this story. Ultimately it's all about Lowen being able to move on from a terrible ex, and that part when it happens is glorious.
I really enjoyed Lowen's story and and keen to see the others get their HEA too.

French Martini was a sweet novel with found family and lots of steam. Oakley is a patient and kind man, and Lowen definitely pushed those boundaries. Lowen had a tall wall around his heart, but Oakley was there to burst through and make him see that love is possible after having your heart broken.
I especially loved the appearance of Yves and his 'brothers' and their...mates. The two worlds colliding makes for a great read. I wish we could have read about Oakley and Lowen's conversations and drinks with Yves; maybe we'll get it as a bonus story. I also hope we get novels or short stories for Sam and Gerard - they deserve their happy endings.
Overall, this was a swoony read.

This is book 3 in the series and can be read as a standalone, it why not enjoy them all. At the end of book 2, where Oakley and Lowen kiss, I was hoping their story was next. Lowen went through a nasty divorce when in Paris and came home when Indy called. Working with Oak in getting the bar set up perfectly, formed a friendship but Lowen was still bitter. When he receives an invitation to New Onyx for an award, he asks Oakley to be his fake fiancé. I loved how patient Oakley was and showing Lowen what love was supposed to be. Great world building , high heat and chemistry between them. Cannot wait for the next book.

I will read anything Mia writes. Her paranormal stories are so exciting but nothing hits for me quite like her contemporary books. And I am so happy for the Last Call series. Lowen and Oakley have been in the periphery of the other books and we finally get their HEA. The chemistry between these two was palpable and so intense! I loved it! The fake relationship aspect of it was pretty entertaining because they sucked at faking it which made the story even more fun to read. Watching Lowen and Oakley try to hide their feelings, maybe not saying the words but boy did their actions show their true emotions.

I felt very blah about this book. I never really believed Lowen’s fears of dating again. It just seemed very forced as a way to make this story a will they/won’t they. I loved Oakley and he seemed liked a real character. Lowen was very flat and two dimensional. The other thing I really don’t like is this book is heavily setting up this world to have a paranormal elements. I love paranormal stories but I do not like a series mixing the two. It might just be me, but I think authors should keep those two genres completely separate. As long as all these characters get a proper ending I’ll be happy. I do not want another series ending like the California Crush series. That ending was rushed and cut out an entire couple just so the author could write a paranormal series. And it left me so disappointed.

"French Martini" by Mia Monroe is the Book 3 in the authors Last Call series. Finally, we get Lowen and Oakley. The chemistry between these two has been there from the beginning of the series. I was so happy to finally have their story and I was not disappointed. I already knew how awesome the characters are and I love seeing the characters from the previous books. The story pulled me right in and kept me till I was finished. It is well written, and easily flows. There are so many heartwarming and laugh out loud moments. I love all things Mia Monroe and cannot wait for more.

I really liked this one! I had been waiting for Oakley and Lowen to get together and this did not disappoint. I was expecting this huge, dramatic reunion with Alain, but honestly it kind of fell flat, like the Alain Low had built up in his mind after years apart didn't live up to real-life Alain. It was nice that the author was able to get that across.
I loved seeing all the other guys in the house and at the pub, but also loved the cameos from our vamp friends! I would have loved to see that meeting between Yves and Lowen. Definitely more cross-overs please!
