The Wisdom of God: Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, & Job
The books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Job have much to teach about the fear of the LORD and the path of wisdom but are often glossed over in storybook bibles. Proverbs provides a blueprint to find true life, Ecclesiastes teaches us how to find lasting meaning in this broken world, and Job helps us to trust God's goodness in the midst of hard situations. The Wisdom of God is written and illustrated in the same engaging style as The Kingdom of God Bible Storybook, with summaries and questions at the end of each chapter. It also features introductions and conclusions that vividly connect each wisdom book to the story of redemption. * Written for kids ages 6-12 * Fully illustrated * Study guide at the end of each chapter * Genuine cloth cover with gold foil print and a ribbon page marker

📖 Ages 6–12 | Biblical Wisdom | Family Read-Aloud
What does it mean to walk in wisdom, and how do we teach that to our children?
As parents of four boys, my husband and I have made it a daily rhythm to read the Proverb of the day every morning over breakfast. "The Wisdom of God" beautifully complements that practice. It doesn’t just present Scripture; it unpacks it in a way that children can truly understand and apply. Rooted in the books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Job, this storybook explains the difference between wisdom and folly using real-life examples, vibrant illustrations, and thoughtful discussion prompts.
“Wisdom is more than knowledge. Wisdom is the ability to put knowledge into action.”
— The Wisdom of God
We especially appreciate how this book helps kids wrestle with questions like:
– Why is it sometimes easier to choose foolishness?
– Why do we suffer?
– What does it mean to fear the Lord?
“It is folly to trust in ourselves instead of God... to tremble before people rather than God.”
— The Wisdom of God
This is a book I plan to return to often as we raise sons who fear the Lord and seek His ways.
📊 My Ratings:
– Wholesomeness: ★★★★★
– Engagement: ★★★★★
– Read-Aloud Appeal: ★★★★★
– Illustration Quality: ★★★★☆
– Overall: ★★★★☆ (4.5/5)

The Wisdom of God is a phenomenal way to teach children about the books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Job. It’s incredibly accessible for kids, but it also brought conviction to my own heart. Each chapter includes a summary, reflection questions, and a prayer, making it easy to engage with and discuss as a family.
One of my favorite aspects is how the book ties the message of wisdom to the larger story of redemption. It begins with Adam and Eve and traces the theme of wisdom versus folly throughout Scripture, even pointing to our ultimate hope and restoration in Christ.
The illustrations are stunning, and the content is deep without being overwhelming. My child didn’t want me to stop reading, and I’ve already used wisdom from the Proverbs sections in my parenting.
This is written for kids ages 6–12, but it makes a fantastic read-aloud for the whole family. I’m so grateful for resources like this that point our children to big biblical truths in a meaningful way.

"Wisdom is more than knowledge. Wisdom is the ability to put knowledge into action. It is the skill to apply God's truth to the many decisions we make in our daily lives."
No one told me how wonderful it would be to sit down with my eldest (6 years old) and study the Scriptures. For her, the storybook Bible is a spring to send us to God's word. Nothing beats hearing your child read aloud the Bible. Because of intentional read alouds such as "Little Pilgrim's Big Journey" and "The Chronicles of Mansou" our conversations are RICH. We speak often of Lady Wisdom and Lady Folly.
5 out of 5 stars! HIGHLY recommend!
my girls enjoy this from ages 1 to 6+! These will be heirloom books!!!

I walked my own kids through this bit by bit for a couple of months.
Really great book to walk children through a few of the wisdom books of the Old Testament. Only critique might be that I wish it would go a little deeper but it does go plenty deep still and I understand you're meant to read through it with kids so it's intended for you to insert more as needed and it's only going to cover so much.
It's long, so take your time with it with the kids and read one chapter at a time with them and I guarantee you it'll give you and them a lot to chew on with these 3 wisdom books.

"The Wisdom of God" by Tyler Van Halteren is a beautifully illustrated and theologically sound book that captivates young readers with its engaging narrative about the wisdom books: Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Job. My kids, ages 12, 10, 7, and 5, were thoroughly engaged and enjoyed uncovering how Christ is revealed throughout the Old Testament. I've never met a Lithos Kids book I didn't like, and this one is no exception—I'm so thankful for their faithful work for families!

Used this book as a devotional time with my young kids (9, 6 & 4) and the illustrations are beautiful and helped to keep their attention as I read the text. I really love all of the Lithos Kids books and how they summarize each story/chapter and provide good discussion questions to help connect everything to the gospel. We have already read and loved The Kingdom of God OT/NT and will start The Parables of Jesus next. Highly recommend.

Major props to the author for tackling Ecclesiastes for kids! While that section was a tad difficult to disciple my 4 and 6 year old through, we had a number of very good conversations. Proverbs and Job were excellent, and the illustrations keep even my not-quite-2-old engaged!

These are my favorite children's Bibles. The illustrations are beautiful and captivating, and I love the discussion questions at the end. I wish the verbiage was a little simpler for young children instead of using the full vocabulary it does at times.

For my young children, this is a neat way to bring books like Proverbs & Ecclesiastes to them in a story format!

I really loved reading this with my children. The ties to Christ were wonderful, and the call to flee sin and walk the path of righteousness encouraging.

I buy anything that lithos kids puts out. But this has been one of my favorites. The conversations we had with our eight and seven-year-old daughters were so meaningful with this book!
