Hot Damn it's definitely a thin line between love and hate with Natasha and Killian in this book!!
With Natasha growing in the Bratva as the daughter of a Pakhan that meant she was seen as Mafia Princess and had no value except with who she married. That meant that she was underestimated by everyone except her family who saw her worth in her protection of them. More so when she's tasked with getting rid of Killian. A man whose has made it his mission to antagonise Natasha's father. Only it's the smoking hot dynamic that Natasha has with Killian that blazed through this book. The banter, flirtation and Steamy scenarios that were outstanding!! Just bloody brilliant.
What is there to not love about this book?…. NOTHING! I absolutely loved the character building and these two had such intense chemistry that you couldn’t help but cheer them on along the way. There is just enough tension, loyalty and love in this book to make you swoon for this couple. I was lucky enough to get an arc of this book and am so excited to see what could come next with this series.

No one has ever disrespected Boris like that before so blatantly. Killian has been antagonizing Boris since the charity event and had been doing a few random small acts of violence on his businesses in hopes of getting his attention. He even forced his way into a meeting that he was having with Don Lucian at Club Nebo which pissed off the pakhan to no end. It was at this time that Boris knew that it was time to put a stop Killian madness and sent his secret weapon Natasha to take care of him. Killian doing all of this because he wanted territory in Manhattan which Boris control. Natasha went to Killian beachfront property to take him out and after sparring for a while with a few missed attempts and her knives he was able to disarm and unmask his attacker and got the shock of his life when he saw it was Natasha Sokolov. Never in a million years would he have thought that the shy, demure little princess could be so lethal. Hel she almost bested him and he was twice her size in muscle alone. But where he might be strong and powerful, he had never seen anyone as quick and flexible as Natasha. "This stunning beauty had me completely fooled. She plays such a poised young woman in public soft, gentle and petite. He had never dreamt that the elegant almost fragile-looking brunette could be so fiery and fierce. He told her that considering she did sneak in with the intention of killing him, that it was only fair that he should take her life. Although Natasha was looking at him with murderous fury she was very attracted to the Irishman. Their sexual tension is palpable. Killian had always been attracted to her. As he continued to pin her into the wall with his elbow under her throat and his eyes shifted to her lips he offered her deal. He tells her that he will let her live if she'll spend the night with him. Although she was mad she different understand why her core tighten at the mention of sleeping with him. He made another offer telling her that he will not only spare her life but he'll let her go and that she could keep coming back to kill him as often as she like. He'll not tighten his defenses, or tell his guards. He will give her as many opportunities as she want to try and best him. But there was a caveat to the deal he adds. Each time she fails to kill him she would have to spend the night doing whatever dirty things he desires. He tells her that if she doesn't take his deal he'll either kill her or expose her identity to the world and if he do that her father will lose his strongest chess piece in their little game for power and she would become a target and a liability. The two started a cat and mouse game with many nights of scorching hot passion as opposed to taking out the enemy and the more nights they spend together the lines got blurred and they started falling for each other and all the while Killian continues his antics of antagonizing Boris because he wants a marriage proposal with Natasha. Not Rating… I’m having very conflicting feelings. I liked all the characters. The FMCs family was pleasant surprise as they were all loving and supportive of each other. The MC wasn’t an absolute ass to the FMC even though our first introduction to him was questionable.
I simply could not get into this book, and I’m not rating it because there wasn’t anything completely bad, it just wasn’t for me. It was very repetitive. Sneak into his room, fail to kill him, have sex, and sneak back out. Over and over and over again. I wish we at least had a couple more changes of scenery, how many times can an assassin fail to assassinate in the same place one day after the other. Add some kind of challenge to it. If you’re just looking for smut this could be for you, I started to skip through after so many catch and releases.
Now my next problem is I hated the emphasis on Killian’s right hand man being his FOSTER brother, it was said at least 13 times and I’m pretty sure only added so when his sister gets a book their relationship is taboo (not my thing). He could’ve just been a friend Killians had his whole life and made it off limits that way we didn’t need a FOSTER brother emphasis. Also maybe I skipped it but I really don’t think there’s even an explanation of why he’s in their family but I could be wrong.
Again this wasn’t bad, I enjoy when books make the MC not an asshole and have him pinning for the girl. I just wish there was more variety of interactions, instead of the same circumstances multiple times.
If there’s one thing this book drives home, it’s that the mafia is a merciless, high-stakes world where trust is a rare luxury. Whether you’re Russian, Irish, or Italian, alliances are as fragile as a glass house in a hailstorm. Killian King is a man who doesn’t just dip his toes into treacherous waters, he cannonballs in, making waves as he boldly sets his sights on an alliance with the Russians. His snarky, devil-may-care attitude is a breath of fresh air compared to the usual brooding, scowling mob boss. Don’t be fooled, though, beneath that cocky exterior lies a dangerous man who proves he’s more than capable of holding his own against his ruthless rivals. However, even the audacious Killian may have bitten off more than he can chew when he ruffles the feathers of the Bratva’s enigmatic leader one too many times and he sends in his secret weapon to take care of the thorn in his side. But what happens when the assassin is caught and revealed to be the Pakhan’s youngest daughter? True to his unpredictable nature, Killian doesn’t kill Natasha on the spot. Instead, he strikes an unconventional deal that blurs the lines between foe and... something far more complicated. What follows is a game of cat and mouse crackling with tension, passion, and an undeniable chemistry that threatens to combust. Natasha, tasked with killing Killian, finds herself in an increasingly bizarre cycle as her failed assassination attempts turn into steamy encounters that leave her questioning herself but utterly satisfied. Is she still trying to eliminate him, or is she seeking something she can’t quite admit to herself? I adored Killian’s mix of respect and admiration for Natasha’s lethal skills, paired with his recognition of how fortunate he was that she hadn’t succeeded. Natasha, in turn, is a powerhouse of a character, balancing strength and vulnerability with finesse. She’s no damsel in distress, and it’s refreshing to see her hold her ground in a world dominated by dangerous men. The author masterfully balances the harsh, unforgiving realities of mafia life with the fragile, budding romance between Killian and Natasha, without reducing Natasha to a victim or compromising her autonomy. Their relationship, fraught with danger and seemingly doomed from the start, takes an unexpected turn after a tragedy that alters the trajectory of their lives forever. The ending leaves just enough loose ends to make you eager for the next chapter of this saga and one thing is certain: this series promises to be an exhilarating ride, and I’m more than ready to dive back into this fascinating cutthroat world. Lisa Cullen’s Brazen King is a sinful, adrenaline-fueled romance that grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go. If you’re a fan of high-stakes tension, forbidden love, and morally grey characters with undeniable chemistry, this book delivers all that and more.
The premise is utterly tantalizing—a deadly Russian assassin and her charismatic Irish target tangled in a deadly game of cat and mouse. Killian King is the ultimate antihero: ruthless, cunning, and possessive, with an edge of vulnerability that makes you crave his every word. His deal—her life in exchange for nights in his bed—is as seductive as it is dangerous, setting the stage for a fiery clash of wills.
The protagonist, the Shadow Assassin, is everything you want in a heroine: fierce, intelligent, and torn between duty and desire. Her internal struggle—balancing her loyalty to her family with her growing attraction to Killian—adds a compelling layer of emotional depth to the story. Every encounter between them is a battle of dominance and seduction, and their chemistry practically sizzles off the page.
Cullen’s writing is fast-paced and razor-sharp, weaving a narrative filled with danger, betrayal, and unexpected twists. The duality of the heroine’s life—perfect Russian princess by day, Killian’s willing captive by night—keeps the tension high and the stakes even higher. And just when you think you’ve figured out the game, Cullen throws in a jaw-dropping twist that will leave you reeling.
The climactic charity ball scene is a masterclass in suspense and drama. Blood spills, secrets unravel, and empires crumble as the story hurtles toward an explosive conclusion. The emotional payoff is as intense as the action, leaving you desperate for the next book in the series.
Brazen King is a dark, deliciously addictive romance that will captivate fans of forbidden love, powerful antiheroes, and heroines who can hold their own. If you’re ready for a thrilling ride through a world of power, passion, and peril, this is a must-read.

Brazen King is a thrilling, high-stakes mafia romance that will leave you breathless. The chemistry between Natasha and Killian is off-the-charts, making this enemies-to-lovers story utterly irresistible. Natasha, a deadly Russian assassin and daughter of a powerful Pakhan, is tasked with eliminating Killian, a bold Irishman who’s been antagonizing her family. But what begins as a mission quickly turns into a scorching game of cat and mouse as their chemistry ignites.
Killian King is the ultimate antihero—ruthless, cunning, yet surprisingly vulnerable. His snarky, devil-may-care attitude contrasts perfectly with Natasha’s strength and intelligence. Their encounters are electric, filled with tension, seduction, and moments of unexpected vulnerability. Natasha may be a fierce warrior, but her internal battle between duty and desire adds depth to her character, making her even more compelling.
Cullen’s writing is fast-paced and suspenseful, with plenty of twists to keep you on the edge of your seat. The tension between the characters is expertly built, and just when you think you have the plot figured out, a jaw-dropping twist throws everything into chaos. The climactic charity ball scene is a standout moment, full of suspense and high drama, leading to an explosive conclusion.
This book has everything you want in a mafia romance—danger, passion, betrayal, and a romance that develops in the most unpredictable ways. The ending leaves just enough loose ends to make you desperate for the next book in the series. If you love morally grey characters, forbidden love, and intense chemistry, Brazen King is a must-read.
Highly recommended for fans of suspenseful, dark romance with a strong heroine and a possessive, captivating hero. I can’t wait to see what Lisa Cullen has in store next!
Tatiana and Natasha might only be women as seen in the Bratva world but have been brought up by a forward-thinking Pakhan, their father Boris Sokolov, who has raised them to take over from him. Tatiana the oldest is the strategist, head always in a book, and is as sharp as her father. Natasha the youngest is his secret weapon, nobody knows the skill set she has.
When Boris gets embarrassed at a Gala fundraiser his wife is holding by the head of the Brooklyn Irish mafia, he puts Natasha to work. But all doesn't go according to plan and Natasha has to decide on her next course of action.
The story follows the interactions between Killian King, her target, and Natasha. Killian is taken with Natasha and the skill set she has. She is not this demure Bratva princess that the world sees but this energetic, lithe, sexy, dangerous woman. Natasha knows that she needs to kill Killian to save face for her father, but does this cocky, handsome Irish man have to get under her skin.
Can Killian prove to her father that alliance with him would be beneficial to both parties or has he burnt his bridge when he made a spectacle at the gala?.

I mean, the purpose was kinda good. Like, a Bratva princess who hides her identity about 💀 a lot of her fathers enemies and an Irish man who’s her family enemy. She’s supposed to 💀 but can’t because he’s very strong and then they made a deal.
Yet, there was nothing deep, just sex. I can’t even realize when they start to have feelings for each other because there’s no talk between them, literally is just sex.
Even her parents death at the end wasn’t enough, it was like her friend who 💀. Even if it was just a friend she would grieve more than she did. I know that we have a lot of ways to deal with the grief but this wasn’t one of them and if you read it you’ll understand.
Anyways is just sex and sex. Nothing deep.
I’m gonna try to describe the book to y’all.
— I Hate you — I’m going to 💀 — Deal — If she can’t kills him she has to sleep with him — Attempting 💀 and sex — Sex and likes each other — Try do deny it plus more sex — Parents 💀 and then he protects her, almost die and when he wakes up guess what? more sex — Then they live happy ever after.
My English is not very good but I hope you’ll understand what I’m talking here!
Brazen King is quite suspenseful and most definitely a page turning mafia romance. Brazen King follows the story of Killian and Natasha. I found these two characters to be quite interesting and intriguing at the same time. The chemistry between Killian and Natasha is undeniably irresistible to the point neither one of them could no longer ignore the feelings between one another. The characters are well developed and beautifully executed throughout the story. I absolutely love that Killian and Natasha have a happily ever after with them getting married. Brazen King is the first book that I have read by Lisa Cullen and this book completely blown me away in a good way. This book is beautifully written, well balanced and perfectly executed by Lisa Cullen. I’m definitely going to be looking into more of Lisa Cullen’s work in the near future. I would HIGHLY recommend Brazen King for anyone who is looking for a suspenseful mafia romance book to read.

This was a good book, I really enjoyed it. It was something different when it comes to Dark Mafia romance, it was not just the same boring copy paste plot which I liked.
I liked Killan and Natasha they were good characters. However, when it comes to Natasha, I felt like she relied too much on her sister to think for her, but it is kind of understandable that she was looking for an explanation , because she could not fathom why Killain was acting the way that he was and in her head the answer to that question could not be love. Also Tabitha was an OP, and a bit of an attention whore, not being able to fathom why someone would show interest in her sister and not her.
Also I feel like the plot escalated and resolved too quickly, like it went from zero to 100. I saw someone else say this in their review and I agree the middle of the book was too repetitive. This was one of those books that I just randomly chose to read because of the cover and surprisingly it did not disappoint. after reading this I think I will try reading some of Lisa Cullen's other books.
Wow what a wonderful story, I enjoyed this approach, it is not often that a mafia princess is not only a princess but also one of the deadliest assassins, but that is what Natasha is. When she is about to kill Killian, the arch enemy of her family, things go differently than she had expected, Killian turned the tables and held her captive in his bedroom and against the wall. From that moment on, their bond slowly grows and feelings come to the surface and it quickly becomes exciting and hot between them. Can their relationship have a chance of success, because they are still dealing with a war between rival families. How it continues and whether she takes him out or whether they take on the families together, I leave it up to you to find out. Good storyline with characters, sufficient tension and action, betrayal, enemies and enough steam.

Brazen King has it all—action, spice, enemies-to-lovers tension, and betrayal. The themes are rich and keep you hooked from start to finish.
The story revolves around Natasha and Killian, enemies from rival families. Natasha is sent by her father to "eliminate" Killian, but her mission fails. As punishment, she agrees to spend one night with him for every attempt she makes—and those nights start adding up fast. Over time, Killian finds himself drawn to Natasha's fiery passion and relentless spirit. Before they know it, the lines between enemy and lover start to blur in unexpected ways.
The book is fast-paced, gripping, and a true page-turner. While it’s a standalone, it sets the stage for an interconnected storyline that promises even more excitement. I’ve enjoyed this author’s work before, and I can’t wait to dive into book two!.

Boris Sokolov is a Pakhan mafia boss. He has two daughters, Tatiana, the firstborn, who will be his replacement should something happen to him. Natasha, the second born, doesn't have as much pressure on her, but she is her father's silent assassin. She is sent to end Killian King's reign. She fails in her first attempt when he overpowers her. He makes a deal with her to spend the night with him. She agrees but then is ashamed to tell her father that she failed, so she tells him a lie. What will happen if she falls for her intended target, and what will her father say about her repeated failures? Lisa keeps you turning the pages with the twists and turns and the steaminess between Killian and Natasha. I received an arc from Booksprout for my voluntary, honest review for NN Book Blog. You will enjoy this book if you love a mafia romance with two strong women who won't take no for an answer and a protective bodyguard.
She's the daughter of the Pakhan and her and her sister are not like most daughters in the Bratva or even the Mafia. They are treated by their father as the heir of the family business and the Bratva. Natasha is her a woman that puts on an air for most outside their immediate family, but she's really a strong, independent, and dangerous woman on her own.
Killian King is the head of the Irish Mafia and he is a man that becomes a thorn in the Pakhan's side and ends up finding himself in the crosshairs of the Pakhan's secret weapon. This leads to many nights of visits, but not the kind most would believe or think would be happening.
When danger and tragedy strike, eyes are opened and lives begin to change in many ways. This was my first book by Lisa Cullen, but I find that I like her writing and will more than likely read more in the future.

Natasha gives into him and its the beginning of things between them. Will they get a chance to be together? What will her father say about them being together?
This is a great story that will draw you in from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

Natasha Sokolov, Russian Princess, the Shadow Assassin. The one sent to destroy Killian King.
"I made a deal with the devil himself."
Killian King, Head of Brooklyn's Irish Syndicate, the one who evades death and takes exactly what he wants from the perfect Princess.
"Some betrayals cut deeper than any blade."
Brazen King is a great fast-paced, dramatic, age gap story that quickly pulls you in. It doesn't take long for this enemy to lovers story to heat up and these rival families to invade our space with their fantastic journey. The chemistry between these characters is explosive and the steam can be felt through the pages!
This is a wonderfully entertaining mafia romance. Killian King is the Irish Mafia Don and the Bratva Don has sent his second daughter Natasha to deal with the Irish Don. She is a secret no one expects. The characters are both wonderful with intense chemistry. This book is a page-turner and is filled with violence, betrayal, suspense and steam.

For a MMC who starts off the book seeming luke the character you want to hate Killian takes a quick turn right into book boyfriend lane. The chemistry between these 2 is off the charts and the spice 🥵. The storyline is well written and I always love a bada$$ FMC. The book ends with a HEA but you know there is more coming with the unfinished business in the background and I can't wait to see how it all plays out!!!.

Brazen King by Lisa Cullen is the shocking, totally absorbing story of Killian and Natasha. He’s the leader of the Irish mafia. She’s the daughter of the man in charge of the Bratva pakhan. They are bitter enemies and she is given a huge task. When she is thwarted by Killian, their worlds change forever.
Loved Killian!! He was smooth, powerful, and takes nothing from anyone. Natasha is strong, capable, and filled with venom. When the world around them starts to spiral out of control, things get even worse!!! LOVED this story!!!!
She had one job to do and yet it was the one that she just couldn't do. Its nice to see her dad not being like so many others where giving his daughter as a prize just isn't an option. He thinks one night will be all that is needed and that he will move past her. The things he does just to get under her fathers skin should be enough but her father is not backing down. One night everything changes. I would love to see what the future brings them. A story about her sister would be a good read as well.

In Brazen King by Lisa Cullen we meet Natasha Sokolov daughter of the head of the Sokolov bratva and Killian King, don, of the Irish mafia. The Sokolov bratva and the King mafia do not get along. When things get really bad Boris Sokolov brings out his secret weapon, Natasha to kill Killian. Things seldom go as planned and this is no exception. I really enjoy reading Lisa Cullen books and this is one of her best ones. I love the characters of Natasha and Killian.

This may have been the best Bratva romance I have ever read. I loved everything about this. Killian was absolutely perfect. His jokester attitude, but get down to business, please, keep trying to kill me, hot as sin…just everything. And Natasha, now that’s a girl who surprised everyone. They were truly a Romeo and Juliet style story with a happy ending. For them at least. I just adored these characters, but Killian definitely stole the show!.

A dark romance with bratva boss's daughter Natasha and the older Irishman Killian. She may have a double life as a bratva princess in the day and at night the Shadow Assassin, but she is not immune to the charms of the Irishman she is supposed to kill. A steamy read with enemies to lovers, hidden identity, and a sassy female who is much stronger than she first looks. I can't wait to read the next book in this little series.

This was sexy and fun. I love a kick ass FMC! Natasha is a Russian Mafia Princess but she’s also the family’s secret assassin. She was tasked to assassinate Killian King, the Irish Mafia boss. In her first attempt, Killian thwarted her, he could’ve killed her but instead gave her an ultimatum, he would keep her identity secret and she can continue to try and kill him as often as she’d like. But if she fails he gets to sleep her and keep her until dawn. Thus the games began.
During all this, a Mafia war is brewing between the Russians, Italians and Irish over territory and power.
Killian & Natasha: Book 1 of the Dangerous Gambit collection: Age gap/ forced proximity/ secret identity/ enemies to lovers/ dark mafia romance: Standalone. The Russian mafia princess is also the infamous Shadow Assassin, and she tries to take out the head of the Irish syndicate. Lisa Cullen did an amazing job with the intense storyline. The dramatic twists and passionate characters kept me hooked on their story.

This was my first time reading this Author, and it certainly won’t be my last!! Her writing is simply amazing! Her story of Killian the Irish Mafia Leader and Natasha the Bravata princess is hot, sexy, funny, and dangerous. The interactions between the main couple is honest and intense. They fall quickly for each other, even as Natasha is committed to killing Killian for her family. This was a well written, well plotted book. It’s the first in the series. The next book is Lance’s story. Great book! Well done!
This is a gritty story that captured my attention from the first chapter. It is full of dangerous situations for the main female character. She has been tasked with killing her rival but instead he makes a deal for every time she does not succeed in killing him, she spends the night with him. The characters are complex, and you do get a happy ending.
