What better way to celebrate the holidays than to learn a new craft? This year, at As the Yarn Turns, Sadie Sexton is hosting a class on needle felting. But when a very valuable ring goes missing while the group is learning to make their felted reindeer and snowmen, suddenly it’s mayhem in Sadie’s beloved yarn store with Peaches the Pomeranian and Elvis the opossum right in the middle of it. And when fingerprints from the prize-winning fruitcake leads back to Sadie’s sister Charmayne and her opossum Elvis, now Sadie needs to find out who really stole the ring before Santa leaves them coal for Christmas and their reputation is tarnished forever.
“Sadie and her crew are hysterical, adventurous, and get into some crazy shenanigans... Fans of Jana DeLeon and Angie Fox will find this series as addictive as theirs. The southern references are comical, and the age range for the cast of characters make this likable for all generations. Can't wait for the next adventure!!!!” ~ Goodreads Reviewer
Felting, Fingerprints & Fruitcakes is a craft and hobby cozy mystery full of humor, friendship, beloved pets, and found family. Join Sadie Sexton as she takes over her grandmother’s yarn shop and reluctantly becomes an amateur sleuth, determined to defend her loved ones and neighbors against false murder charges in her small Southern hometown of Hoochville, Tennessee.
Paw-liday Craft Caper #6 The Paw-liday Craft Caper Series is a collection of cozy mysteries by multiple authors brimming with holiday cheer, beloved cats & dogs, and charming crafts & hobbies.
A cosy crime caper to instil some Christmas cheer!
Sadie has organised a class at the shop and from the off everything is getting derailed. People she didn't expect turn up, gossiping takes over and the well-heeled class attendees are getting more than some felting lessons it seems!
Newly engaged Laura Lee has some drama of her own when her engagement ring goes missing. Sadie calms her down by promising to find her ring before the class is over. But who would take an engagement ring?
Small town mystery with added strong female and cross generational friendships - the relationship between Sadie, Clem and Dot is lovely and the quartet of besties have each others backs. There is plenty of humour but also a strong theme of helping those around you, even when they perhaps don't actually know they need help. A wonderful vignette into Hoochville during the holidays and I'm looking forward to the next episode!
TW: There is mention of emotional/psychological distress through domestic abuse
I haven’t read any of the Sadie Sexton Hoochville mysteries yet, so I was glad to get a little intro to her and the basic characters I’ll get to know when I do start the series. Those women were absolutely a hoot! I felt so sorry for the needle felting instructor since anything that could happen to interrupt a craft class, happened.
They were searching for a lost ring, a hilarious pet possum was running around, and mayhem was breaking loose in the back room. The instructor probably felt like she was trying to herd three-year-olds as far as their attention span seemed to go. It was a circus for sure and when it was all said and done, Sadie was just glad she had three of the best friends anyone could have. These Christmas mysteries are a fun way to introduce new readers to the authors’ series. I’ve got the first book in this series so hopefully will get a chance to read it soon.
Sadie and her sister Charmayne are hosting a workshop at their shop with a guest instructor to learn needlefelting. The usual host of characters - Sadie, Misty Dawn, Lauralee, Clem and Dot, The possum Elvis, Peaches the dog, and the rival knitting club from the posh side of town are all present.
The usual chaos, hijinks and hilarity occur, and in the midst of everything Lauralee's engagement ring is stolen. Sadie and this motley group of characters has to solve the mystery before everyone tries to leave the shop after the end of the workshop.
This was a really fun cozy holiday mystery, which hints at future plot lines in the next books in the series. I really enjoy these books, so please keep them coming, Ramey James!
I love it when I know exactly what to expect from a book because of the author(s), and this is one such read. Sadie is hosting a felting party, and chaos ensues while learning to make a felt reindeer. Needless to say, no one’s reindeer is done at the end. Sadie, Clem, and Dot are just so funny, and I love how all the characters have each other’s backs…and maybe even Char’s. This is a fun, light-hearted, and touching short story addition to the series sure to please fans. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Felting, Fingerprints & Fruitcakes is a short, missing engagement ring mystery. Sadie has her hands full with a class full of people not paying attention, a missing ring, and a guest instructor about to walk out! So plenty is happening in this short, quick read that is a perfect length for when you need a break from your own chaos! I am always happy to be in Hoochville catching up with my friends!
Felting, Fingerprints & Fruitcakes by Ramey James 5 stars pub 12/7/25
Fans of the series, are you expecting another murder? For sure when the WHOLE team gets together something is bound to happen. Not going to tell, but it is big.
A felting class (party) is scheduled. Sadie's sister is back to her old self if your new you'll figure it out. I won't tell what happens, however, very little felting goes on.
Surprises, crimes, and group shenanigans but a fun time for the reader.
What a fun, short holiday inspired who dunnit read! Being that i love fruitcake, I couldn't help but enjoy the references to the treat. A mystery is afoot at the Felting class, and of course Dot, Clem, Lauralee, Deanna Marie, and Misty Dawn all jump in to help in their own unique way. The animals, Peaches and Elvis, get their time in the spotlight, as does the usual shenanigans that occur with this crew. Grab this one for some laughs and holiday spirit.
‘nothing can compare to the holidays in Hoochville’
I’d never visited Hoochville, TN before but a return visit to see where this series began is definitely on my to do list after this novella. It was a whirlwind packed into an out of control felting class, that might just be the norm for Sadie and her sister? A missing ring, an unauthorized Botox party int he backroom and so DIY plumbing wrapped up in a big red holiday bow. So fun!
I absolutely loved this book! It is a quick read, so it's perfect if you want something for a snowy night in, but it still has a lot packed into it. The Sadie Sexton books always leave me with a warm and fuzzy feeling and this one was no exception. That doesn't mean there wasn't drama, there definitely was! But the endings are always so great and heartwarming. I can't wait for book six of this series!!
Very cute holiday story taking place during a felting class at the yarn shop. I empathized with the teacher, who seemed to really be exasperated at the lack of focus in her students due to various shenanigans going on - a sneaky botox party, hunting for a lost engagement ring, etc. Several entertaining moments and a quick read.
Great novella with Sadie and the crew. I love the Christmas feel of this one and even though it's only a novella, it doesn't disappoint. This town is quickly becoming filled with some of my favorite characters. I can't wait for our next town adventure with Sadie and the gang!
What a cute, quirky novella cozy mystery. These authors never let me down, their writing is always on point and entertaining. This really was a fun Christmas read in what is becoming a fast favourite fictional town for me with just wonderful characters.
Great holiday story! Short but sweet Christmas story featuring my favorite gal pals up to their usual zaniness. The entire book is set in the yarn shop with the rival knitting/crocheting groups together and at odds as usual. One thing different about this story is all of the guys were missing. Very quick engaging read!
I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.
The latest book in the Sadie and friends series was just a very fun read. It’s the perfect novella for the holidays. It will keep you laughing, and guessing till the end, a highly recommended it.
Who’d have thought that there could be so much chaos, intrigue and drama in a simple craft class. As usual a fun read with great characters and throw some yarn in there and I’m a happy bunny.
This is a delightful holiday themed story. There is hi jinx and shenanigans a plenty with the beloved characters of this series. These are some of my favorite characters.
I found this was a quick read that was very entertaining and left me filling good. Well developed plot and characters with depth to them even though it’s a quick read.
Absolutely loved it! The authors did an excellent job keeping me reading. I finished it in one sitting. But I wouldn't expect anything less from these amazing authors.
The storyline was hilarious, and I enjoyed the novella immensely. I have always wanted to try felting but just never had the supplies on hand. Maybe someday. Of course, the characters held up to their hilarious banter and antics. Clem and Dot are hilarious once again and had me laughing out loud.
Such a fun cute read - in love with reading about Daisy and Elvis is starting to grow on me. The interaction with peaches and Elvis is great to read. Another fun read, with a mystery to solve!
