Clare and Raven are on the honeymoon of a lifetime; using their life savings, they celebrate their long-awaited marriage by journeying across the world. However, their dream soon becomes a nightmare as they climb Capertee Valley. Both become separated, and Clare must travel through the twisted landscape of mazes filled with horrific creatures to find her wife and save the five children she meets along the way.

Another fab book by Kerree. From the very first page I was hooked. Gory, dark and evil creatures lurking in a maze. Is it hell, another dimension or all a dream? Clare's plight to escape with the children she encountered was so sweet with a heartbreaking end. A fantastic short horror story.

For a quick read short story this book packed a lot in.
Full of tension, monsters, horror and a great mix of characters, its the sign of real talent to be able to cover so much in so few pages. And to do it brilliantly.
This book combines graphic gore / horror and really delves into the idea of reality impacting alternate realities.
This short story has plenty of twists including the ending, which I'm still processing now.
Not usually a horror fan, (because Im a big scaredy cat) but as I love this author and it was a short story I wanted to read this. Glad I did.
Recommend this to fans of horror, especially those looking for a quick read that still packs a hit.
Huge thank you to the author for my gifted book. All thoughts are my own
Having journeyed into Kendall’s fantasy works, I was excited to fill my eyeballs with some horror and see how that went.
It’s very hard to summarise this one more densely than the blurb already does for fear of just ruining the plot, but it follows a brief set up that lays the table for a much more horrific continuation. I read this in one sitting and it was easily pacey enough to keep you turning the pages. You can see the fantasy influence here as we get to the ‘fantastical’ elements, but it is indeed also very horrific. The balance between visually frightening and creeping dread was utilised perfectly and it made for a truly unsettling and tense read.
There’s echoes of similarity(not mimicry) to The Black Farm in here, and that was my favourite read of 2024…. So you know it means I gobbled this one up too! For a novella, it packed in a lot and I’d be happy to see more of the same from Kendall.
Riveting.Built on the interplay of rocky suspense, solid pacing, and atmospheric adventure that leans in well to create dread, anticipation as the horror unfolds.
It really lends cleverly, into our fears of when suddenly a normal day catapults a traveller into the unknown. Very entertaining. Gloriously red and gory but buffered with many shades of KK's dark humour.Always blazes.
Wouldn't normally be my go to genre but once I started reading I couldn't put it down. From the first page the story moves quickly which helps build the suspense with fantastic and gory descriptions.
