This had been previously released under the title 'The Dark Side of Necessity'.
Solid editing, spelling, text layout, etc. The story itself has almost no basis in reality , but the description accurately lays out this is a story about a man scientist, so what do you expect? There will be no superpowers , and no magical mystical element. There will, however, be in probably faster product development , metrical handwaving for complex task, and things that are probably not physically possible. But : the author shows a great sense of humor, fun characters, a quickly moving plot, and a few outcomes that are not by the formula, so you can’t predict everything ahead of time. I mean some stuff , yeah. But it’s not boring , in fact, it was quite a lot of fun. It’s not some deep philosophical story, it is to genre of spies and mad scientist, what Jason Bourne is the world of real intelligence operation. You should read this book , you’ll probably enjoy it.
I read a lot, probably 2-300 books a year. This one is easily in the top 3. Boyd Craven, you need to have fun and explore these characters more - a lot more! I hope you sell a gazillion of this one, and I bet you do. What a fun book! It reminds me of Lois McMaster Bujold’s tour-de-force with Miles Vorkosigan and company. And as for the potential new readers? Just buy it and relax - you’re in good hands.
A newish genre from this author. Definitely a guy's dream book...or a nightmare marrying two women. 5 stars for originality and 5 stars for providing me with entertainment. !Looking forward to the next book in this series.
Nothing to complain about. Good story. Fast-paced. Likable characters. A plot that wasn’t totally transparent and predictable. Just like the Jason Bourne series or Stetham in the Transporter series of movies, or even James Bond, the tech and capabilities of the protagonists were unrealistic, but were in service of the plot, so no complaints.
I’m not really sure how to categorize this book. Men’s adventure, thriller, spy novel, intrigue, a little bit of romance…heck I just don’t know. It really was a fast, great read. A modern Doc Savage, or an American James Bond (with a cute little Q too). Thoroughly enjoyable, highly recommend!
This book had a great characters and storyline. It was hard to put down once I started reading it. Boyd is a great author and this is up there as one of my favorite books of his.
Different way of looking at people who need to get things done. Agent fights bad guys...with bullets and brains. Swearing was a little over the top for me,but once again a great story. Heart of gold, fighting for right.
This book was excellent from beginning to end. Quirky, funny, crazy people all living a fast paced action packed life. Boyd Craven has hit another one out of the park.
Really enjoyed the first book and hope you make it into a series. The characters were well developed and I loved the riff on the evil mad genius and his minions!
What is not to like? Great characters ,an easy to follow plot, action, romance and some twists that kept me reading...I really hope this is only the first book of many
What a great read. This is a keeper and a slower reread. “Shits and giggles “, I’ll never say it again without laughing. Buy this book folks, you won’t regret it.
Really though what a great book. I can't wait to read the next everything this author writes. If that family needs a blacksmith, veteran ,nanny sign me up. Pax
