She works for the man I despise. I want her on my team. And I’ll do anything to get my way.

SUNNY

KC Hawking is a Grade A a**. He’s got more confidence and skill on a racetrack than any man ever should and to top it off all that’s packaged into one of the hottest bodies mankind possesses. And for whatever reason he’s set his eye on me.

The girl he wants simply because he can’t have me. Because I work for his enemy.

And no driver in his right mind wants to date me, playboy or not. After all, I’m just the dumb blonde refugee girl with the funny accent, right? My industry sucks sometimes. But I love working my PR job at the track more than anything even if the driver who employs me hits all the wrong notes.

Besides, I can’t afford to let Hawk distract me. Not only is he my boss’ arch nemesis on the racetrack, he’s also an arrogant as hell driver and the sort of man I should never be involved with.

Ever.

HAWK
Sunny Cooper has everyone fooled with her easy smile and bright eyes, even when her boss—the man I hate most—drags her perfect behind out of bed at some indecent hour for a trackside PR shoot.

I should know. I stalked her a little.

More than anything she belongs on my team.
And in my bed.

But the more time I spend with her, the less my need is about my ongoing feud with her boss…
And more about the girl who etched her name on my soul.

I can’t wait to make her mine.

Speed Trap by Sofia Aves

POV: first person, dual
Age gap: Hawk, 24. Sunny, not sure if it specifically says, but about the same age
OW(M)/Cheating: No
3rd act breakup: Yes, and it’s a bit ridiculous. Sunny’s mood changed so quickly without any explanation for the complete turn around and I found that frustrating.
Instalove: No, but there was insta attraction on both sides. I liked that it wasn’t instalove. However it turned to more (especially for Hawk) really quickly without them spending any significant amount of time together.
Series: Yes, first one. I *might* read the second depending on the blurb.
Spice: A few scenes, no kinks, not bad - what I would consider everyday stuff.
Writing: The author is Australian, thus her writing uses non-American terms/phrases. I’m not saying that’s bad, it just may take more (time/thought process) for me to determine what is meant. This is set in the US so I would expect everyone except the heroine (a refugee) to speak with American terms/phrases. I wouldn’t be as bothered by this if the setting was in Europe as it seems a lot of formula 1 books are set. There were some inconsistencies (Sunny lived in a townhouse then apartment then townhouse) but nothing too crazy. It is sometimes hard to follow transitions - physical and emotional - because they were written in a jarring way.
Editing: Could be better. For the most part the editing is okay but there are some places that it isn’t clear what’s being said.
Read this author before: No. I would consider trying another book of hers if I the blurb is interesting - even if just to see if the writing was different in this one versus other books.
Should you read it: It was slow to start and took until about 35% before I became somewhat invested. It started to drag a bit again after that. I think my not liking this is more of a me issue and that other people will probably like it more than I do.

This is an ARC review.

I really liked the concept of a PR manager falling for her boss' enemy. I'm a car lover, so this definitely appealed to me in the beginning! Like Sofia, I'm also from Australia. Seeing some Australian slang/phrases throughout it added a personal touch from the author, as generally, everything typically gets 'Americanised' when it comes to books, movies, music, etc.

Something that really bugged me, however, was the sheer amount of spelling and grammar mistakes. It's unsurprising, and totally normal, for a mistake to slip through the editing phase and be published. But throughout the entire book, the amount of errors that I'd noticed was pretty surprising, considering how many books Sofia has published. I very nearly didn't finish the book just for that factor alone.

Sunny was warned that if she were to get involved with another driver, she would be banned from the track for life. I liked the concept of the perceived threat to the career she worked so hard for, as it really sold the 'forbidden fruit' ideation of the book. But Hawk's ignorance to the career sacrifices she made for him kind of peeved me a bit. Like, she didn't want to be banned from her dream job forever, but he held no respect or understanding for her not wanting to put her career on the line. He was willing to risk her getting fired to get laid, and that felt a bit off to me during the book.

There were many notes that I made throughout the book of moments that I really liked, and moments that didn't make sense. But overall, I loved the concept, and the storyline was really great. If you're someone who's into an attractive, cocky MMC, or a driven, hard-working FMC - or even just racing - you'll certainly like this book.

This is a good start to a new series from Sofia Aves, a series that takes a peep into the highly competitive car racing fraternity.
Beautiful Serbian, Sunny Cooper, was a PR on the racing circuit and along with photographer, Randy, she followed her driver looking for chances for publicity.
Arrogant, ruthless driver, Benson Crantz, was Sunny's employer and he had her tied up in a despicable airtight contract, a contract that if broken could ruin her career.
KC Hawkings (Hawk), was the only person named in the contract, he was a good looking, talented driver who had risen quickly through the ranks and was Benson't greatest rival, this wasn't just rivalry, it was something much deeper, something more like hatred. Sunny's contract stated that she must have nothing to do with Hawk but as in all romantic stories, nature took over and, although Sunny tried to fight it, the attraction was too hot for either of them to ignore.
What would happen when Benson found out ? what damage could he do to Sunny and Hawk's careers ? The green eyed monster raised it's ugly head, Benson had tried to date Sunny but she had turned him down, now she was with his greatest rival, a man that he despised a man with whom he had history, Sunny must pay.
I enjoyed this book, it was quite a quick read but I found the main characters likeable and I look forward to reading Ryan's story.

I live in a rural area where people are car racing fans. I am more interested in road rally where drivers have to follow directions and decide what speed to go so they do not make points against them. I found this story about a PR professional who worked mainly for Benson Crantz, a car racer. Her contract said that she could not be in a relationship with any other driver or she will be banned from the track for life. KC Hawking, better known as Hawk, is Benson's chief rival. He likes Sunny and keeps trying to get her to see him and she keeps saying "no." Until, her car is vandalized and Hawk is there to console her and his crew chief Randy agrees to repair her car. This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.
I like the way each character is introduced. The background is described when needed to set the scene for what is to occur. It has romance, rivalry, volunteerism, and some violence. I did expect a confrontation at some point since the two drivers are rivals and I was not disappointed. I would tell others that they would find the book easy to read and that it would be interesting to read.

Speed Trap
Fast Track to Love Book 1
By Sofia Aves

🏎 Enemies to Lovers Romance
🚦 Race Car Driver MMC
🏎 PR Manager FMC
🚦 Instalust

This was a fast paced enemies to lovers by Sofia Aves, it follows along the story of Sunny the FMC and Hawk the MMC.

Sunny is an overworked PR manager for this absolute a**h0le Benson a race car driver, who makes her do literally everything at all hours for little thanks and pay thanks to a contract he made her sign stating if she does wrong or even sleeps with someone of his opposition she won't be allowed back on the track for the remainder of her life.
And then there is Hawk, Benson's number 1 enemy. Who is literally in the contract by name for Sunny to avoid at all costs.

So you can just see what will happen 😉

While predictable, I still enjoyed this fast paced book.

Ohh Hawk, you beautiful man. He’s a perfect, protective and doting book boyfriend and his passion for his “princess” is just *chef’s kiss*

This was a suuuuper fast paced story. It felt like everything happened and changed so suddenly, and had me going “woah where did that come from” a few times. Lil’ bit o’ whiplash… (see what I did there? 😉)

I wouldn’t call it enemies to lovers… not even rivals to lovers because the enemy/rival is her boss really. Maybe more of a forbidden romance with some insta-love?

There were some great moments of action, but the racing story was very much in the background. I would have loved to get more of that on-track setting!!

Was a super fun, sexy, quick read! 🏁

- Rivals to lovers
- He falls first
- Sports romance
- Workplace romance
- Banter

My heart was racing with this book! I am such a fan of banter, and the exchanges between Hawk and Sunny were on point!

My advice to Sunny? Get a better contract lawyer because that was BS what her boss Benson had as exclusion clauses. He was completely unhinged, and not in a good way.

Benson's rival on and off the race track is Hawk. He is extremely attracted to Sunny and constantly tries to get her to come work for him. He doesn't know about all of the clauses in her contract.

Hawk was a goner for Sunny in so many ways. This was a super quick read, but so satisfying.

★ “This is the girl I’ll never stop chasing.” ★

Top driver Hawk is instantly obsessed when he meets Sunny during an incident involving his top racetrack adversary, Benson Cranz, her controlling boss. Sunny sticks her neck out to help Hawk’s crew chief, beyond her capacity of PR for a rival team. But Benson is not happy, ever, and his noose tightens to keep Sunny’s focus solely on him. Between loosing his head over his latest infatuation, and the other challenges happening off the race track, Hawk has his hands full competing on the track and trying to win the girl of his dreams. Enjoyed the steam, drama, and bit of suspense in this story. Looking forward to the next installment of this series!

Sunny is a young marketing executive trying to build her business at the race track but what she didn't know about her boss Benson she learned quickly that she signed with the wrong team to build her future. The opposition she finds very attractive only she couldn't afford to lose her job only Hawk was everything she wanted but coulld not have. Hawk new that there was something strange about why these two guys hated each other so much. She they are both alike but she is so wrong. A entertaining story and the characters are entertaining. Laugh out loud. Romantic suspense. Book 1 of 3. I read a copy without obligation. I volunteered an honest review.

Hawk and Sunny. Shes PR for Benson the rival driver of Hawk. She thinks Hawk is arragant, concieted and one of the hottest men alive. She knows no one would want her. But Hawk does and the more she turns him down the more he try's. Now shes caught between two drivers one her boss and not so good charecter and the other her boss's rival and the one she wants. Great world building. Great charecters. Loved their journey of feelings. Sofia Aves writes with such emotion that pulls you into the story.

Sunny... Works PR for a up and coming hot headed driver.

Hawk.... A up and coming driver... also Sunny's employers arch nemesis.

While labeled a "enemies to lovers romance" I feel as though its more of a "enemy of boss to lovers romance" as Hawk isn't necessarily Sunny's enemy, but rather her employer, Benson, enemy.

The chemistry between Hawk and Sunny is apparent from their first meeting and only intensifies as the story unfolds. Aves mixes a fluid story line with the perfect amount of spice. I can definitely appreciate a author who writes spice, but also makes sure there is a solid story line and actual human feelings involved!

I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in Sofia's new series! I wasn't sure what to expect about a story that included racing but the characters were interesting & KC turned out to be a good guy even though at the beginning you weren't sure what to think of him. Sunny is a complex character who seems to be trying to figure out how to get her life on track. This book is very enjoyable with just enough twists to keep you wanting more. I can't wait to see what comes next in this series.

She is smarter then people think and they think that based just on her hair color. He sees the real her and she also sees his real self. They know that if they cross that line it can cause so many problems. When things start going wrong for him at his garage and then her beloved car they are drawn together even more. They have a lot to work thru and some of it is scary. I would love to see what happens next. Can't wait for Ryan's story and maybe one about Honey as well.

This is my first time reading anything from Sofia Aves, and I don't usually stretch into romance reads but wanted to give it a shot as I was given an ARC.

This is a quick and easy to read play on the forbidden love trope, where Sunny risks losing it all if she dares fall in love with a member of the opposing F1 team.

I do think the editing could go with another round of in-depth spelling and grammar checking, though it's easy enough to ignore if you're invested in the plot.

I'll definitely try another one of her books in the future.

An interesting introduction to the car racing world. This was a fast paced ( sometimes I couldn’t keep up as time just seems to fly) rivals to lovers forbidden romance. Hawk the MMC was instantly smitten with our FMC Sunny, it took her longer as she was threatened with job loss and even career loss if she fraternised with her boss’s rival but the attraction was instant. Pretty likeable characters except her boss tbh, good storyline and intimate scenes. I think I would enjoy reading about Sunnys sister. Good start to the series.

Sunny and Hawk are enemies... but sparks fly when they're together! They eventually give in to their feelings.

I wasn't a huge fan of this one. I didn't feel the chemistry between the leads, hence the 3 stars.

SAFETY:
Virgin/manwhore/celibate: no virgins

This is the first book I have read by Sofia Aves. I loved that it was a race car driver but less focus on the track and more focus on the characters Sunny and Hawk. It's a little jumpy in certain places but overall a good book and storyline. Takes a little bit to get to the spicy but when it does it heats up during those moments. Hawk is the supposed bad boy on and off the track but what we get is the man underneath the hype and so does Sunny. Hawk is book boyfriend material

Speed Trap is book 1 of the Fast Track to Love series. Sunny is a PR for a jerky race car driver named Benson. However, when another race car driver shows up, things get interesting. Hawk is sweet and obsessive and he has Sunny in his sight. I think Hawk is a perfect book boyfriend and apparently he has a touch of gold! But you'll have to read the book to learn more. A cute, quick, and easy read. I enjoyed it!

Sofia, these two characters, all I can say is wow! 🤭 They fell in love with each other but the first one was him aka Hawk! Sunny, on the other hand, was scared cause of her own feelings! 😢🥹 These are my own opinions! ☺️ This is a well written book, and I can't wait for the next one to come out! 💜💕🥹🫶📚

Hawk and Sunny

Short read and things progress fast paced. Sunny and Hawk rattle each other but the tension is obvious. However, there is the problem in the form of losing her job getting involved with him. But there is a reason behind that but not going spoil that for other readers.

I enjoyed reading about Sunny. Her good work ethics and always had a smile on her face. Showing she held her own in a men’s dominated career. When she met Hawk, I think the feelings were mutual. It was very interesting how this story played out. I am looking forward to reading about Ryan.

It was good. Sort of enemies (more like enemy of boss) to lovers. There was a good amount of spice and that was wrote really well. Personally I like books with more of a twist thrown in there and I could tell what was going to happen from the beginning.
