THE NEW KIDS! Amu and her Guardian Characters have found a home at an elite school. But now two new Guardians have been chosen, and each has a secret. One is more complex than Amu thought, and the other may be out to betray the Guardians to the evil Easter Corporation! This volume of Shugo Chara! includes special extras after the story!
Peach-Pit (ピーチ・ピット Pīchi Pitto) is a female manga artist duo in Japan, made up of Banri Sendo (千道 万里 Sendō Banri) and Shibuko Ebara (えばら 渋子 Ebara Shibuko). Their group name derives from the diner hangout Peach-Pit from the TV show Beverly Hills, 90210. Although both have similar styles, with some artwork it is possible to identify which artist drew it. Both are known for their bishōjo styled works. As noted in their books, they are both Geminis and have "Almost flushed our phones down the toilet...twice."
The two of them grew up together and went to the same elementary school and have been best friends ever since. Both started as doujinshi manga artists, but not as Peach-Pit. Then they were scouted by Dengeki Comic Gao!. In 2008, one of their manga, Shugo Chara!, was awarded the Kodansha Manga Award for best children's manga. Shugo Chara was also turned later into an Anime television series.
Re-read 2022: This was so much fun! Loved that Amu is honest. Hilarious that just wearing a big hat and black clothes and sunglasses makes you a new person. There is some romance (and the harem around Amu is growing with Kairi as new addition, found it sweet he bought her a present). I loved reading more about Rima and Yaya (I hope Yaya's parents give her some more attention as she needs it). We get some other facts and little bits. Not really happy that Amu leaves her little sister while she goes off having a fun day. And that last chapter, WOW WOW WOW!!!!!
---------------------------------------
Re-read 2017: Yay, some background on Yaya and her character egg. The first chapter was also really sweet, Yaya is a great sister, though I can imagine it may be tough at times when the parents don’t have time for her. Though that all regressed with the next chapter. Oh Yaya, no girl, no.
Yay, Amu has told everyone! I was so happy that she did it. It took quite a while, but it is finally all out in the open.
Rima also gets a lot of attention, and while I am starting to warm up to her, I am still never going to truly like her unless she starts be more true to herself. Now she is often too high and mighty and I don’t like that about her. She is much nicer and friendlier in her comedy mode.
Haha, I loved that date time with the Prince and Amu, but I loved it even more when Ikuto popped up. Hehe, Ikuto is a bit evil at times, but oh so cute!
The Ami-chapter was sweet, though I did think it was a bit irresponsible of Amu to leave her tiny sister alone in the house and go on a date.
And it all ends with another cliffhanger! Oh my! Though I would have thought the group would be a bit smarter considering everything about that CD screams Easter (the big cross, and plus you should recognise Utau’s voice by now … Come on guys, she is still working for Easter, can’t you guys see this might be a trap? Also it seems we have an extra special egg, I can’t wait for that one to get more attention!
I remember this part! I love the new guardians! At first I thought they wouldn't be a major part of the story but boy, was I wrong! I was really suspicious of the green hair boy because he was acting weird and secretive. The new blonde girl was downright snobby! She had boys drooling at her feet but as the series went one, she made me laugh so much! I did learn something from this book though; each guardian didn't become one just because they got good grades, no they had to have a past story they don't want to share. That is why they have characters; they want to be someone else.

This was an aptly named volume, as it gave us a bit more character depth into the two new members of The Guardians.
Amu sure is popular with the boys, but it's working for me in this series. Normally the "everyone likes this character" kind of irks me, (let's be honest it just isn't realistic) but I think it actually goes well with the theme of human beings having such multifaceted personalities. The boys that like Amu all do for a different part of her personality, a personality that is still growing and unsure of what it wants to develop into for the future.
Have I mentioned I love this series? Because I do. SO MUCH.
Shugo Chara was the first anime I ever watched, so my feelings of nostalgia are at an all-time high while reading the manga!
Manga • shojo • fantasy elements • light romance • large cast of characters • funny • cute
My thoughts: Volume 5 is definitely my least favorite so far because it focuses on individual characters more than the overall plot. This volume felt like separate character episodes rather than a cohesive story. Character development is important, but I needed more plot development than what this volume gave me. However, I know future volumes are going to be jam-packed with action and adventure, so I’m not too disappointed!
If you’re looking for a cute manga with deep themes that isn’t too long (12 volumes), then I’d definitely recommend this one! I’ve cried on more than one occasion because the kids in this manga are striving to become who they want to be and it makes me question what my dreams are and if I should be trying to accomplish them. I love this series! Ikuto 5ever btw.
I found this volume of Shugo Chara and decided to pick it up. I watched this anime years ago and I really liked it so I thought to read a volume of the manga. It was really nice and gave me a nice feeling :) Would love to continue it!
I just... I'm so confused. This one started off pretty good. But.. But I mean... It's rated T and it got insanely perverted. Like what even. I will never look at ice cream the same way again.
I love Shugo Chara and I loved this volume. With diamond and utau teaming up and amu and el teaming up. It's just awesome. I love utau's diamond outfit, I hope amu's looks even better! I love shugo chara and I'd suggest it to anyone. And Rima's shorter than everyone else, just like me, I like lean even more about her past.
At first what I thought would be a Card Captor Sakura clone aimed at a younger demographic, I'm glad to see that both the story and the humor of the series has been pretty strong ongoing. I busted a gut when reading about Rima's closet hobby and the way it was revealed. The series continues on strong.
I just realized how boring the anime was, I got until season 2, episode 30...7? I think. But they stretched out the whole Shugo Chara books. There are only 12 Volumes and 3 seasons?!? It was hilarious and I loved it, i think I would have been better off reading the Manga first and then watching the Anime.
Amu was a great character, she was a little whiny at times but overall she was able to fight and stand up for what she believed in. I liked her relationship with everyone else.
The guardians added some comedic humor to the series and you can't go wrong with a little battle magic.
Aaaah!! this is an amazing and inspiring manga about a girl who seems cool and collected on the OUTSIDE, but shes really a nervous wreck. take my advice and read it. It also has an anime that's complete, and had me basically bawling my eyes out. (I hated how it HAD to end!) :) Hurry up and go get the manga! Go!!!!! (I'm totally doing you a favor. No need to thank me.) :) Happy reading!
