Chance Daniels has always been the serious one. Maybe it's time he takes a chance on a Little Joy.

Boudoir photographer Joy Joplin loves her life until one fateful picture changes everything. On the run and out of options, she sneaks onto Wild River Ranch and finds a grumpy cowboy with a wicked talent for roping. Too bad he has no desire for a Little with trouble on her heels.

Chance Daniels is there for anyone who needs him—anyone he knows, that is. He runs Wild River Ranch like clockwork until trouble arrives in the shape of a Little blonde bombshell armed with a camera, chaos, and a promise of happiness the Daddy in him never thought he'd find.

He'll spend forever with her… if only he can stop whoever wants her silenced before it's too late.

My heart is so full right now! I’m a lover of this series and this story blew me away! I was entranced from the very first paragraph! Chance runs the ranch and has yet to find his Little girl. So when a party is held at the Ranch he sees a beautiful blond girl and he feels something right away but she keeps evading him. When he finally catches up to her, the smile she gives him melts his heart. But who is she? When he discovers her name is Joy, it is the perfect name. She is such a breath of fresh air, and she made me laugh so many times. Chance is so protective and loving that my heart swooned! And the chemistry between them is smoking hot. I truly enjoyed this story and so will you!

Roping in Joy

Cami Carlisle's "Chance" (Wild River Ranch Book 3)
Cami Carlisle returns to Wild River Ranch with "Chance," the third installment in the series, delivering exactly what readers have come to expect: a deeply loving story intertwined with a compelling thread of suspense. The focus of this book is the captivating relationship between Chance and Joy, a couple whose journey is as heartwarming as it is thrilling.
From the outset, Carlisle paints a vivid picture of Chance, a character who immediately draws you in with his protective nature and undeniable charm. When he meets Joy, his heart recognizes something special, and the ensuing pursuit is both sweet and determined. Joy, however, presents a delightful challenge. Her initial evasiveness hints at a past she's trying to outrun, adding an intriguing layer of mystery to their burgeoning connection.
Cami masterfully balances the tender development of Chance and Joy's relationship with the building suspense. The story is filled with adorable and often humorous moments, showcasing the lighter side of their interactions and making them instantly relatable. However, beneath the surface of their growing affection lies a current of danger and uncertainty, keeping the reader on the edge of their seat, eager to uncover the secrets Joy is guarding.
What makes "Chance" so enjoyable is the genuine connection between the main characters. Their journey from initial meeting to falling in love feels authentic and earned. Chance's unwavering support and Joy's resilient spirit make them a couple you root for wholeheartedly. The "daddy dom," "hurt/comfort," and "found family" themes are woven seamlessly into the narrative, adding depth and richness to their story.
If you're a fan of romantic suspense with well-developed characters and a storyline that keeps you engaged from beginning to end, "Chance" is a must-read. Cami Carlisle has once again delivered a compelling and satisfying addition to the Wild River Ranch series, proving her skill in crafting stories that are both emotionally resonant and exciting. This book is a perfect blend of heart and pulse-pounding moments, leaving you eagerly anticipating the next visit to Wild River Ranch.

Joy is on the run and in hiding after she saw her boyfriend kill another man. She’s made it all the way north from Texas, but she’s out of money and looking for a place to stay after leaving her life and photography business behind. When she sneaks her way into the Wild River Friendsgiving, she thinks she may have found a place to take a few pictures, make a few dollars and stay the night before moving on. But, nothing works out the way she has planned in her mind.

With one look, Chance Daniels is intrigued by the woman he knows was not invited to their Friendsgiving celebration, but she seems to be one step ahead of him all day. When he finally catches up with her, instead of doing what he wants, which is keeping her safe on the ranch, he does what he thinks is right in protecting the ranch and his family and sends her on her way. But he just can’t stop thinking about her. And, when the local sheriff lets him in on who she is and why she is in the area, he knows he's made the biggest mistake of his life

What follows is a fast paced romantic suspense as Chance has to find, rescue and then keep the woman he knows is his little girl safe from the danger that has followed her all the way from Texas. He will also need to work at getting her to understand his rules, and know they come from a place of love, so he can keep her safe always while letting her live the life she deserves.

I loved how well Chance and Joy seemed to fit together as a couple. She has a bit of a wild streak and may not be the best at minding his rules, but Chance’s ropes will help to keep her in line. (I loved the shibari rope play in this story). Joy is just like her name, and finds the good in everyone and everything. I was delighted at a few of the special friends she made along the way at Wild River Ranch. I also loved just how alpha Daddy Chance could be!

4.5 stars for this action packed romantic suspense. Joy and Chance are both hotter than hot as a couple as well as sweet and sassy and all alpha in their Daddy/little girl relationship.

I absolutely adored Joy and Chance. From the moment he found her in that pen with Bullwinkle - ahem I mean Ironside - I knew it was going to be an exciting journey.

I loved the humor mixed in to the book. As with most books there are serious themes and I always feel that having a sense of humor helps lighten the mood (especially after or during a punishment!) I think like most Cami Carlisle books, there is a perfect balance of emotions.

One of my favorite scenes was the shelter scene with Celie and Reggie. It showed how beautiful Joy’s heart was, and that she was the living embodiment of her name.

At some points I swore Joy was going to put Chance into an early grave with her free spirit and love of animals. I loved when Chance finally “met” the dog (Dodger) that Joy had “adopted” at her cabin and his entire inner monologue during that experience. I won’t go into detail for fear of spoilers, but I also loved how he wrangled Bullwinkle back. I was smiling and so big and laughing to myself.

I absolutely loved this book, there is no shortage of romance, spice, action, and of course a happy ending for Joy and Chance.

Loved, loved, loved this story of Joy and Chance. Chance is an OTT protector who will always put his ranch family and friends at the top of his list, so when he sees a stranger at "Friendsgiving" he's going to figure out who this person is and what they're doing. When he discovers Joy, he's immediately attracted and immediately send her on her way. She's a complication he doesn't need, but of course he worries about her. When he later discovers her sick he takes it as a sign and brings her back to the ranch. He's claimed her as his. I absolutely loved Joy's feistiness. She's always had to take care of herself and finds asking for help or even receiving help hard to take. Once Chance claims her, he's all in and he was so sweet taking care of her when she was sick. And when he discovers what else Joy is involved in he is going to make sure to protect her in all ways, no matter who he has to cross to get the job done. I love a man who's willing to go all out like that. Great HEA.

Chance is a suspenseful, humorous, and heartfelt addition to the Wild River Ranch series. I absolutely loved Joy. Her carefree spirit and deep concern for the safety of those she loves made her instantly likable. The way she and Chance first met had me laughing out loud! Their story is filled with adorable and funny moments, balanced beautifully with suspense and emotional depth. Chance himself is the perfect mix of broody, sweet, and fiercely protective. This book brings the heat, the heart, and plenty of humor. Definitely a must read for fans of small town romance with a twist of danger.

With this story of Chance and Joy, Cami Carlisle serves up a wonderful story of drama, humour, balanced out with spice, action and of course romantic love.
Chance; a ranch owner with his brothers, sees Joy; a free spirited photographer, at their Friendsgiving party, where she shouldn't be. He is immediately attracted.
Chance fights this and yet he is protective of her.
Add in Ironside and Dodger (no spoilers), and you'll laugh, smile and scowl throughout.
A wonderful warm, loving story, that is 'hot' 🥵 between Chance and Joy.
Adored it.

Everyone loves a cowboy with rope!!

This was a great read about Joy and Chance. Joy is such a sweetie to Chance’s gruffness but together they balanced each other out. This book is the third in the series and honestly I can’t pick a favorite they are all great. I highly recommend this book it is a great read, you will find your self laughing at Joy antics, but also looking to find yourself a cowboy who knows how to use rope.

The third book in the series did not disappoint. Joy “Gypsy” is hands down my favorite of the Wild River Ranch littles so far—she completely stole the show. The relationship between Chance and Joy is nothing short of perfection, with a dynamic that feels natural, caring, and deeply connected. Bringing ropes into the mix added an extra layer of intrigue and intensity that really elevated the story. Overall, a solid addition to the series and one I thoroughly enjoyed.

Love this series from Cami! At the very beginning of the story Joy had Chances attention and kept him on his toes from beginning to end. He is a perfect dominant Daddy and the way he protects her from illness and the bad guys chasing her is one for the books. The Wilder family is there for her and she is soon part of that family. Can’t wait to see who gets to find their Little in the next one!

I really enjoyed this story so much. In fact, the series has been great. Chance is good about helping people but when he sees Joy, his heart knows this is the one for him. She keeps evading him and he needs to figure out what is going on in her life. It's sweet, it's hot and steamy, and it will keep you turning the page so you can find out just how they get their HEA!

I adored this so much. Joy was a breath of fresh air, naughty and so innocent where it came to her safety everyone who met her loved her. She caught the eye of Chance and oh boy he was hooked from the start she really gave him a run around and his patience was amazing, he was the perfect dominant daddy, so caring to Joy who never had that, she never hid any part of herself and was so unselfish and gave Chance everything he ever dreamed about.
There's danger alot of laughter, loved the animal situations and all the heat you could dream about. It was perfect I love the ranch so much.
