All of the Ella Dark books have seemed to be written using a set formula. It’s as if the first one went over well, so the same story was used each time with different characters, locations and villains’ motives.
The most recent handful of books have been riddled with repetitive/reused words and phrases, an abundance of alliteration, and an unreasonable number of metaphors and similes. Additionally, though the majority of the books cover only a few days worth of Ella and Ripley’s adventures, this book makes reference to Ella’s years and years of experience and sees her talking about her “old age”. It’s as if a stranger, or possibly a computer, made an attempt at writing the next episode using the aforementioned formula.
This one just wasn’t on par with previous books, and although I will probably have to finish the series, I won’t be recommending it, and I won’t be sad if it comes to an end.

If you read this series, this one pretty much follows what happens in others. Mia and Ella called in on a crazy case, they start working it, go down a couple wrong paths before getting the bad guy. This time around one of the bad paths got ugly. It made sense why they looked at that person and why it got ugly after, both sides were right and both sides were wrong on what happened. The bad guy did get caught, so that was good. But it was worth reading the whole book for the last chapter, for the nugget of info that popped into Ella's head. It will be interesting as to what she does with this knowledge and if anything bad comes from it.

Ella Dark may be new to the FBI's Behavioral Psychology Unit, but her enthusiasm and determination more than make up for the lack of experience, as she and others on the same team investigate kidnappings and murders linked by a strange method of murder.

The excitement of the storyline immediately draws you into the hunt for the killer, while Ella's personal and career aspects make you feel you're beside her every step of the way.

Ella and Ripley are summoned to chase a serial killer who leaves their victims inside body bags. It's a strange and difficult case as there are no left leads to follows and the leads the two agents find prove to be worthless. After several twists and turns they'll catch the killer but not before falling prey of the killer in an enormous fight. Ella will make an startling discovery at the end of the story which finishes in a cliffhanger. Looking forward to learn what will happen next!

Ben leaves and begs Ella to go with him, but she can't. Then she and Mia are called to help find a serial killer who is using a drug to paralyze his victims and putting them in body bags. They work hard to find this killer. A really great read with a surprise ending! Can't wait for the next book!
