Echoes of the Hunted: A Wild Ride You Won’t Forget!
Jessica Lynn Sorensen has done it again! I’m still reeling from the ‘WTF’ experience that was because of this novella. This book is packed with twists that will leave your head spinning—in the best way possible. I can’t say too much without spoiling the surprises, but trust me, you’re in for a ride. Having devoured Sorensen’s entire collection, I can confidently say she never disappoints. If you’re looking for a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat and completely blow your mind, look no further. ‘Echoes of the Hunted’ is a must-read! I highly recommend!
I'm a big fan of Jessica Lynn Sorensen’s writing. There’s something about her style that resonates with me, and I love the way she writes such captivating characters.
Echoes of the Hunted is about a serial killer who haunts a town, targeting vow-breakers, until a woman escapes his deadly grasp. Although she continues to fear he will come for her, she begins to rebuild her life. Then, as new threats arise and her abusive ex returns, her life becomes haunted by nightmares and flashbacks. She begins to question her own sanity as the lines between reality and delusion blur.
I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator was fantastic.
At one point in the story, I got a little confused as it seemed to jump from one location to another and there was a lot going on, but then it all came together and the ending was a surprise. A great read. Go and check out Jessica’s books; you won’t be disappointed!
I didn’t love this, but the narration was really well done (I listened) and the story is supremely disturbing. Parts of the plot were sort of confusing and far-fetched, but I didn’t dislike it. It did give me the ick, though.
"I'm really getting exhausted from people forcing me to kill them." That’s the twisted logic of a serial killer terrorizing Joplin, Missouri. Known only as the Game Changer, he targets those who cheat. No exceptions. After one woman escapes and helps put him behind bars, she thinks it’s over. But new threats emerge, and her abusive ex might not be as dead as she thought. Nightmares blur with reality as Angela is forced to face her past, her trauma, and her fear. When trust breaks and vows mean nothing, "The Game Changer" is more than happy to remind people what till death do you part really looks like.
Spillin’ the Book Tea: I listened to Echoes of the Hunted during a road trip, and not gonna lie, I checked my door locks more than once. Jessica Lynn Sorensen packed a full-blown psychological tailspin into a tight, fast-paced thriller that doesn't waste a second. The serial killer premise is scary enough, but what really hit was Angela’s descent into doubt. That balance of paranoia, sarcasm, and raw fear had me glued. Also? Anyone even thinking about cheating should read this book and think twice. The Game Changer might be fictional, but that twist ending is very real and very savage. Thank you to Jessica Lynn Sorensen for the ALC and the opportunity to provide this candid review!
The Vibes It Brings: 🧠 Psychological chaos 🔪 Justice with a kill switch 🫥 Questionable sanity 🚗 Road-trip thriller energy 📖 Short, binge-worthy format 👀 Trauma flashbacks and trust issues
Narration: Abby Filsinger crushed it. Her tone matched the unsettling vibe of the story perfectly: dark, a little biting, and just the right amount of unsteady. She kept the pacing tight and emotional beats sharp. A great fit for this twisted thriller.
TL;DR: Echoes of the Hunted is a quick but vicious psychological thriller where betrayal gets punished and trust gets tested. If you like your stories sharp, tense, and a little unhinged, this one will hit the mark. Bonus points for that absolutely brutal final twist. This one's a one-sitting listen you won’t forget.
“I’m really getting exhausted from people forcing me to kill them.” — that opening line sets the tone perfectly for this wild, sarcastic, and disturbingly satisfying thriller.
Set in the shadowy corners of Joplin, Missouri, this novella delivers a fast-paced ride full of dark humor, unreliable memories, and chilling motives. Told in sharp first-person POV with short, punchy chapters, it keeps the tension taut and the pages turning. Angela’s voice is raw, wounded, and wickedly witty as she navigates trauma, a possibly vengeful ex, and the lingering presence of a killer who doesn’t tolerate broken vows.
There’s a psychological undercurrent throughout that adds depth, exploring how trauma and mental illness distort perception—and reality. While some twists leaned into the dramatic, the author balances it with just the right dose of sarcasm and suspense. No fluff, no filler, and definitely no mercy for cheaters.
I docked a star only because I craved just a bit more clarity in the final unraveling—but for fans of gritty novellas with a side of twisted humor and emotional chaos, this is a gripping pick.
Perfect for fans of quick psychological thrillers with bite.
Unabridged Audiobook. The ending of the book is at the end of my review. Spoilers. You have been warned.
I wasn't really sure what to think of this when I first started it. I was pretty confused at the different points of view and who was talking and what was happening. By the end of the book, I realized that was intentional and the fever dream quality of the writing was also intentional.
I thought that this felt more like a first novel. It was short and "simple", but I felt that there were too many different characters that didn't need to be part of the novel.
The ending: Spoilers...
So she has schizophrenia and all of her weird dreams ended up being things that she actually did. She killed a bunch of people that were cheating on their spouses and he ended up stalking her. She liked that. In the end, they kept each other in check. She liked how he was obsessed with her and he liked her excessively. Almost like Edward Cullen.
Echoes Of The Hunted by Jessica Lynn Sorensen kept me guessing until the end! It's fast paced and has twists that I didn't see coming. The clues were there! It also made me laugh out loud for like a whole minute. Plus, there's a tiny surprise for those that have read her other books. Angela is a victim or almost a victim of a serial k!ller called The Game Changer, but she manages to escape. The FBI puts her in witness protection and relocates her, until the serial killer is caught. There are lies and secrets and she doesn't know who to trust. I enjoyed listening to the story unfold and the narrator did an amazing job!
Echoes of the Hunted by Jessica Lynn Sorensen Narrated by Abby Filsinger 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 What an intense psychological thriller!! This book is full of twists, turns, emotions and suspense! It is a fast and very exciting listen/read, full of secrets and lies!
Who really is Angela? She’s plagued with nightmares and flashbacks and wonders what is real. Who really is Josh? He’s Angela’s best friend from high school and they are able to reconnect after several years.
How far will one go for love? Obsession? Complete jaw drop ending!! Never saw it coming!
I listened to the audio version and the narrator did an excellent job!
First off kudos to Abby Filsinger for bringing the book to life with her narration.
From the beginning of the story I was invested. The way Jessica writes grabs you and holds you until the very end never letting up. There was a moment of confusion within the story but made sense once everything came together. The characters were interesting. The pacing was steady and easy to follow. The ending...Wow...I did not see that coming. That ending left me speechless.
Thank you Jessica Sorensen for the eAudiobook. This review is that of my own.
This was such a good read. There are so many things you don't see coming and when they do.... Mind blown. Plus, who doesn't love a good twisty romance thrown in. Jessica, as usual, has delivered. I recommend this highly if you're into psychological twisty thrillers.
Wow!! I couldn't help but read this in one sitting. This book was fantastic, and those twists!! I never would have expected them and was absolutely thrilled at how great it was pulled off. Such a great book. I highly reccomend!!!
This was a very good, fast-paced, quick read. It had a big twist that i definitely did not see coming! Highly recommend this one and all of Jessica's other thrillers. Love them all!
I never know what to expect when reading Jessica's books. Sometimes I feel like I may be slightly unhinged and I think I'm okay with that. One thing is for sure these books always keep me guessing.
Echoes of the Hunted is a gripping tale of murder, infatuation and loyalty - what?? Main character Angela survives being kidnapped and tortured by The Game Changer, a killer who believes they are enacting justice to the unjust, while witnessing fates not as blessed as hers for other captives. Once believed to be broken and damned by karma, she finds true love and lives happily ever after……….or does she???
I can tell you that I never once imagined the twists and turns this books threw at me - had to put my seatbelt on to finish the ride (which I did in one sitting because I couldn’t put the book down). If you are looking for a quick read with a good storyline, strong characters and an ending you never imagined the Echoes of the Hunted is a must read.
Echoes of the Hunted: Till Death Do You Part along with other books by Jessica Lynn Sorensen are currently available on KU!!!
Echoes Of The Heart is a twisted mystery thriller with a complex narrative that could have benefited from being a series instead of being condensed into 128 pages. Starting with Chapter 1, the author did an excellent job of keeping me engaged. While I didn't enjoy Chapter 18, I loved every moment of the book. I was excited to learn after reading Chapter 20 that I had guessed some of the plot. Angela and Josh were meant to be. My only suggestion for the author is to please consider turning this into a series. The author has a great voice and brings the reader along with each scene, painting the perfect pictures with excellent descriptions. I'm not a fan of spoilers, read, read, read, and the only disappointment is the author leaves you wanting more.
I liked this. It gave me insight as to what schizophrenia is like. (My mom was diagnosed with it and BP) This book kept me interested forsure finished it in one setting. My only con from this book, which now knowing the fmc diagnosis I understand the way it was written, was the parts seeming to be left out. *spoiler* it said she wanted to tell Ian goodbye but then it just cuts to her being home. It confused me a first but now I get it. Also wanted to say that my home town is Joplin, Mo so that was a cool thing for me to see it in a book.

I love a good mystery/thriller and this one didn’t disappoint. I don’t want to give away the story but Angela is a kidnapping victim of the Game Changer, who is a vigilante of sorts. Can she escape the serial killer or will she be his next murder victim?!? Josh’s obsession with Angela just adds to the appeal of the book. I truly enjoyed reading this and would definitely read another by this author.
To avoid a serial killer, a recently single woman relocates only to discover how unhappy she is. This is one twisted story. It's almost as if the author is writing her own life story, that is, if she is having trouble interpreting reality, especially when she reads it in a book. The question is..,is it? You must read the story to find out...
Enjoyed the narrative by the main character in this story that captured my attention throughout. Did not love the ending but could see the author's point as we delve inside the mind of a killer!
