In the twisted halls of Wicked Academy's second year, nothing is as it seems.
Surviving Year One was just the beginning. Now in the Faerie realm, where time bends and memories fade like morning mist, I discover the true meaning of wickedness. With each passing hour, the line between ally and enemy blurs beyond recognition.
The bonds I forged with my three paranormal princes crack beneath the weight of unspoken truths. Betrayal leaves scars deeper than any wound, and when one of them undergoes a transformation that defies everything I thought I knew, I'm left questioning whether I ever knew them at all.
An ancient figure emerges from the shadows of my past, bringing with him promises written in blood and secrets that could shatter the academy's very foundations. Meanwhile, a mysterious cat-like being offers guidance through hidden passages that shouldn't exist, speaking of sacrifices and thrones with a knowledge that spans nine lifetimes.
As we hunt for the chalice that might save my sister, disturbing questions arise: Why do some students seem trapped in endless cycles? What lies behind the Academy's obsession with trials and advancement? And why do my own memories feel increasingly like borrowed fragments from someone else's life?
Within Wicked Academy's walls, a throne stands empty, waiting for its rightful heir. As ancient runes begin to match the markings on my skin, I fear the answer may be hiding in plain sight — beneath the glamour I've worn like armor since the day I arrived.
Year Two beckons with whispered promises of revelation, but in this realm of masks and mirrors, the truth might be the deadliest betrayal of all.

Fall in love with her revamped creations once again.
I came in hopeful. Book One had its flaws, but the bones were strong; good ideas, intriguing tension, a promise of something dark and thrilling. I was ready for Year Two to take that foundation and build something unforgettable.
Instead, what I found is... noise.
The structure is fraying. Pages loop in on themselves with endless rewordings, as if unsure which version of the sentence to trust, so all of them stayed. Events unfold, then unravel. Characters shift from one scene to the next with no anchor, no continuity, no memory.
It’s not that the story lacks potential. Quite the opposite, that's the cruel part. The world has teeth, the ideas are cool, but they are buried under neglect or laziness. There is no sign of editing, no trimming, no tightening. It read like a draft that was never truly read—just assembled.
And the characters? Lost. Not just inconsistent with Book One, but with themselves. What once drew me in now felt hollow, disjointed, even careless.
There were whispers of originality here, but they were drowned out by poor execution.
The first book had promise but this one hurt to read.
First there were duplicate paragraphs and things written in different ways but was the same thing. Characters were basically one dimensional, connections were magic, there was little in the way of plot progression or world development that made any sense.
A lot felt incredibly random. The gender switching was just confusing. There were scenes that felt tossed in with no context to appease the potential audience need for smut but no build up to it and in the middle of a time sensitive mission? (Time sensitive in they had an hour to do it and were running out of time 🙃).
Like this author was just throwing whatever ideas she had at the wall to see what would stick but this book clearly needed more planning and development. Honestly I will probably forget this series before the next is out and 100% ok with that.
This was so bad. The first in the series had potential but then this went completely off the rails. Repeated paragraphs, bad editing where sometimes conversations are bolded. The plot makes no sense and has so many holes. Characters are very one dimensional.
Very undecided on this series so far but I’m honestly leaning to not continue. The flip flop between genders is confusing, all of the explanations are jumbled and hard to keep track.
Writing is ok but I think the author wanted to be different and add some spins but to me, the effort fell flat. Too much going on in a short span makes it hard to keep track at least for me.
I’m struggling to like this series, the guys all seem very 2 dimensional and Gwen is repeatedly mentioned as unbelievably powerful but she’s always out of magic? I always love a girl plays as boy trope but at this point it’s getting confusing, it’s just not written well. The writing is also very wordy, and honestly even though there’s drama happening, I’m finding myself bored - there’s simply not enough dialogue for the sheer amount of characters and there’s just far to many descriptions of everything.
In this book I guess it’s supposed to be a semi redemption arc for nikk/Nikki but honestly it was an info dump at the end and I still don’t like them, girl or boy their personality sucks.
It’s fine the concept of the book is interesting but the book itself is confusing. It feels entirely to rushed and I’m very confused about time and some of the settings it just didn’t make sense. The part with Atticus felt rushed and she is adding men to her harem even before coming to terms with her previous ones. I understand the reasoning but the book just seems so rushed. Other things that confuse me are why Nikki is Nikki I don’t get it 🤷🏼♀️ also I’m sure it’ll be explained later but the whole gender fluid thing is a neat idea but I don’t think it’s portrayed well throughout these books. I probably won’t finish this series due to it not being out yet and I will forget everything by then. I also don’t think I’ll be able to read these books again since they weren’t the greatest.
I liked the characters and multiple points of view. Pacing got better at the end with lots of action. Interesting twists in story I’m curious to read about in third book. Redemption for boyfriends at end was good. I enjoyed this series so far except the bullying. Only one sex scene that was partially pointless but I understand actions speak louder than words. Can’t wait for next book to be released soon!
This book is quite riveting. I’ve been in an almost constant state of anxious anticipation in the best way possible while reading. While others may say it feels rushed, I feel that it does a great job of reflecting the characters race against time in Faerie. AND THE ENDING.
My only note of reading concerns is the authors tendency to use words repetitively. i.e. merely, suggesting, rather than, etc. As well as using twice as many words to convey something? For example:”…powerful arms pulling me against his chest with an urgent intensity that suggests fear rather than mere possessiveness.” “The air responds instantly, currents swirling around my feet with an eager intensity that suggests sentient cooperation rather than merely manipulated natural force.” Phrasing like that works nicely every now and then, but at least once a paragraph or more gets rather tedious after a while. It just felt off. I’ve read lots of her other books and it’s not something I noticed before.
I really like the story but this one had a lot of "they did [x] - conveying [y], rather than [z]"
I really love this author and her unique storytelling, but this sentence structure happened so often it started taking me out of the story.
that being said, I still love mini Grimm, some of the banter, the new characters that were introduced, and the general concept. But the repetitive backtracking/over-explanations of things that were already clear from the initial description ruined the rhythm a bit. I'll probably still finish the series though
There are so many twists that the story contradicts itself and the confusion is compounded by errors and inconsistencies in the continuity and characters (e.g. exchanging character backstories, ignoring character backstories, misspelling Gwenivere/ Gweneivere). And I found the final “twist” disingenuous and a little insulting.
This isn’t helped by overly verbose (and somewhat repetitive) language and a lack of consistency about the passage of time in the story. For example, one “hour long” class assignment lasts for more than 25% of the book. I checked. This included a 15 minute time bubble with a five minute sex scene (including foreplay?!). It was disjointed and stressful to keep thinking “wait, why hasn’t the countdown killed them yet??”. I won’t be making it to year 3.
The story has potential but it feels so disjointed. Everyone is more powerful than the last. The main characters are wishy washy and all over the place. I can't tell what the story is actually about. The lines are repeated so youre reading the same thing for about 3 pages between character shifts. I honestly just want to skip to the end of the series.
Academy of the Wicked: Year Two, book two of the Paranormal Elites of Wicked Academy series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). This writer has improved so much. Beautiful descriptive writing, every detail sets the scene. I'm loving the series, the writing, and the characters.
Oh I really liked this one. I was so captivated by this book. I didn't take a single break from when I started it. Finished in one sitting and simply can't I have to wait again till the next installment.
Just wow, this was amazing. That ending though... I had my suspicions. This was really enjoyable, I couldn't put the book down and I cannot wait until book 3 is released.
