Accidentally In Sports #4

Accidentally Sliding Into A Second Chance

Rate this book
This is a dual POV, kisses only, sports romance and the fourth standalone in the interconnected Accidentally In Sports Series.

A star shortstop. A benched heart. A second chance sparked by fate—and a sassy pup.

David
I saw my brother and best friend fake-date their way to true love, but that’s not for me. As a single dad and the Smokies shortstop, my heart’s been out of the game since my wife passed. Love was a once-in-a-lifetime gift, or so I thought—until a familiar face stirs a spark I can’t ignore.

Cat
Betrayed by family, I’m done with love, thanks to a dad who taught me it’s a lie. My heart’s been locked tight since leaving the boy I loved. As the Smokies’ new Director of Fan Experience, I’m focused on work, not Aunt Dottie’s marriage schemes. But when a certain single dad’s hazel eyes collide with mine, my past comes barking back.

Will a matchmaking daughter and tail-wagging chaos help David and Cat hit a homerun, or will old heartaches throw them a curveball?

This is a sweet, kisses only, marriage of convenience, single dad, slow burn, second chance, he falls first, with lots of sizzle no spice romance and a happily ever after. I hope you fall in love with David, Cat, Scarlett and Emmy and are left wanting more of the Accidentally In Sports Series!

Into the world of baseball we go and meet Cat and David. They lived next door to each other as teens until Cat had to move on the day of their first and only kiss.

fate throws them together again after David adopts the most adorable and wild spirited greyhound from the shelter where Cat volunteers. To add to the fates alignment, Cat is also starting her new job and her main client is David, to help with his social media image for his team, the Smokies.

As well as the greyhound, David is also bringing up his daughter alone after the passing of his wife which adds to his guilt over the feelings that Cat reignites in him.

I loved the moments between Cat and David, David’s vulnerability and mixed emotions were so well written, I really felt his struggle as he came to terms with moving on after his wife’s passing. The interludes with his daughter and the dog helped balance these so it never got too depressing. Cat was also struggling with feeling like she entrapped David somehow just to gain an inheritance (marriage was stipulated in the will and David volunteered), that she was getting to fond of his daughter, the dog and David himself.

All in all, this was a beautiful story, one I would read again. I can’t believe this is the last in the series. What about Finn? What about Logan?

Another cute read in this great series involving friends and family. The H is the brother of the H of the previous book and the h is his first crush from his childhood. She left town when her mother moved. Suddenly they meet. The H thinks that she is familiar but can’t place her immediately and then he realizes that she is his first crush. The next day they literally walk into each other twice and at the second encounter the H knows why she is there. She is there for him to help him with his social media account that he can’t handle. Thus starts their second chance at a relationship. After some ups and downs they are ready to confess their feelings and find their HEA. The H’s daughter adds so cute interactions with the H and h. You can’t help but love her. Recommend this book to anyone who has been reading this series but also to others who just enjoy reading a cute story where you love and enjoy the characters. I received this book free as a member of the author’s ARC team. Hope you enjoy reading this book as much I did. Enjoy!

This story and the characters drew me in from the beginning to the end. David and Cat are relatable to people I know and so is the storyline. Our story begins with David adopting a greyhound “mix” for his eight-year-old daughter, Scarlet. Now, Scarlet is beyond the moon with excitement over her new pet and is trying to give Emmy treats. David is worried about his decision and expresses it to the coordinator at Mile High Mutts Rescue. She informs him about the training sessions they offer and gets him to sign up. Now to add to the chaos, his brother, Duncan, will have time to help as well as his best friend Ava. He has no idea how much time she can give since she will be busy auditioning.
David’s wife and Scarlet’s mom passed away and she always wanted Scarlet to have a dog. David misses her so much. David knows he could do this with Fiona, but without her, he is not so sure. Scarlet takes Emmy out to run around the grounds outside Mile High Mutts Rescue. Emmy loves it and is making no move to slow down. A woman steps out of her car, notices Emmy and calls out “Emmmmm-mmee” David mumbles to himself that he has already tried that. She is able to take a piece of rope from her car, fashion it into a noose, slip it over Emmy’s head and has her calmed down. Cat tells him about the training sessions the rescue offers and tells him that is where she learned all her tricks. As they are talking, he notices Cat’s dimple and “a memory tugs somewhere deep inside.” He realizes Cat is “Catherine ‘Cat’ Bailey” and his first crush and heartbreak. When he introduces himself, she knows he’s the Smokies shortstop and a PR problem for the team. Cat is “the team’s new Director of Fan Experience.” She also realizes she will be collaborating with him. He is off-limits. Try telling that to her heart. She had such a crush on him when they were neighbors.
David has even more to worry about, the marketing department selected some of the players to have their own social media accounts to engage with the fans on a regular basis. He hates social media and needs help. Well, well, well, guess who is available to help him? Cat, who has been hired by their marketing department. Everyone is warm and welcoming to Cat and wants to make sure she feels supported.
Cat introduces “two main events: Bark In The Park and a Thyroid Disease Awareness night. Everyone loved her presentation and they’re looking forward to both events.
There is an attraction between Cat and David that both try to hide from each other. They are going to be working closely, since Cat will be helping David with his social media posts. Scarlet also enjoys Cat due to her love of animals and how she treats other people.
Will the two of them develop feelings for each other? If so, how will Scarlet feel about her dad and Cat being a couple? This story is packed with more characters (family members who also are in the limelight), events, deep conversations, friendships, making new memories, and changes. Told in dual PoV as only Abby Greyson can write ,with lots of love ,sass ,might and delight ….that’s just little Emmy! Who is adorable by the way and then of course there’s the humans haha. Well well you can open up with a greyhound running rings around you as well as capturing your heart in the cutest and most endearing of ways with a young giggly girl by the name of Scarlett then you might easily be swayed too…With his young daughter picking up their new dog to take home when they eventually get her under control by a Cat ,not the purring sense oh no ,short for Catherine Bailey don’t you know and she knows how to corral this mutt ,her secret weapon and she’s soon got her eating out of her hand and now being led by a makeshift lead , how cool was that ? Young Scarlett is certainly smitten of this person called Cat who certainly is not a kitten. She’s a person who David James the daddy ,keeping up ? Knew when he was but a pup ,well no now I’m starting with him ! I mean when he was but a lad in short trousers but now he’s all grown up and he’s gotten big…Wowzers! Single dad ,widower David is left to bring up his daughter alone ,but he’s got to make room for a puppy ,his wife insisted before she was laid to her rest . So with his best foot forward he finally sees the day and does seize the day in a spectacular fashion, well he got played and not in his sportsman capacity ,his passion as the star short stop for his team , Smokies . No this was by Emmy and Cat with a giggling Scarlett looking on . Talk about the place being full of females! But no time for epic fails ,he needs to get on ,not rest his laurels on his ex hon. Well she was gone for a while but now she’s back ,flashing that same smile, that makes his heart skip a beat. She’s got news for him too as well as helping out with those sweet ,cute pups at the pound ? She is the Smokies new Director of Fan Experience so she’ll be working close with him …isn’t that sound? Well sure it is! When he’s got over his bit of a tizzy and is no longer dizzy and all . They’re getting to know each other as he plays baseball. Abby ,you blew this out of the ballpark you really did ,they’ve had this spark lit from when he was a kid and now he’s a dad with a kid of his own, he has a story and doesn’t want to go through it on his own . Second chance dance and a new tune to synchronise their new romance, when two hazel eyes look back at yours the short stop is winning ,he’s all yours Cat ,he sure is grinning and heads are spinning as they see this go all the way to a fabulous action replay . So is it a Yay! Curveball? No way! Home run all the way! Well you’ll just have to see how it plays out for real! How it has all the feel and the cuties and not cooties . You know though that you can always trust Abby G you see ,to give us a good show , its a must! it’s no mystery that I’ve read every single book that Abby Greyson has put together for our pleasures because each and every single one has me undone they’re all treasures . I’m always in awe and screaming encore ,can’t wait for more because I adore this author’s writing so.

I received an ARC copy from the author and though not required to post a review, I wanted to offer my honest, voluntary impression after reading this book.

Abby has added a fourth and final book to this series and I think she saved the best for last! It’s about a man we’ve met before who has been struggling to raise his daughter by himself after his wife passed. Fulfilling a wish his wife left with their daughter they go to adopt a dog and afterwords when he can’t control the animal a voice calls out that stops the dog and turns him docile. David is amazed but then his amazement turns to shock in realizing just who this person is!

This is a story on having a second chance at love but as it turns out it is with the first love they both had when they were twelve! It’s a sweet story of love but underlying it for both of them especially David is that the feelings he feels for Cat is a betrayal of the love he has for his dead wife.

It’s a story of how the love his daughter and the dog they adopted and his reawakening feelings for Cat plus the feelings she never got over with him work towards a happily ever after!

Through it all you’re rooting for them even as you know of a medical condition she has and a stipulation her aunt leaves in her will to Cat that can relieve her of a weight pressing down on her!

The story is so realistic it probably has happened to others somewhere though not in the way it’s portrayed here. Still readers will instantly gravitate to it and latch on to it and not let it go! It’s a story both wanted when they were young but were denied by circumstances beyond their control and now it seems fate has given them a second chance if they have the courage to accept it and take the leap of faith required to make it come true!

I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend this book and by extension the other three books in this series! I have read them all and loved them but this one of having a second chance with the one who got away was special to me. The feelings both Cat and David have said and unsaid resonate with everyone and anyone who truly is in love and is seriously considering a future together with another.

I know you’ll love this story just as much as I have!

David lost his wife Fiona to an incurable illness, when their daughter was very young. Years later, he’s finally feeling like he can get back to his normal playing style as a shortstop for the Smokies baseball team. Thanks to his late wife’s twin sister, Ava, and his brother, Duncan (who is married to Ava), he’s at a dog rescue to get his little girl a pet.

He feels guilty sometimes, as if he had any control over losing his wife, and that guilt multiplies when he runs into his team’s new director of fan experience, Cat Bailey, at the shelter. Because he remembers those eyes, as Cat was his first crush, and his first kiss.

Finding out that she’s been tasked to work with him on upping his social media presence doesn’t annoy him as much as he expected. And when Cat’s late aunt’s lawyer contacts her about stipulations of what her aunt left to her, Cat discovers she has to get married within the next six months, or lose the inheritance. At first it feels like a betrayal for her, but as her relationship with David and his daughter advances, she determines that this little family could be her saving grace, by getting David to marry her temporarily. (Of course it’s going to turn into permanent.)

This story is cute and heartbreaking at the same time. It’s never easy to lose one’s spouse, especially so early in their lives together. David’s precocious daughter is a delight and a terror (typical of children, really), but is also instrumental in getting David and Cat together. As in, REALLY together, not fake spouses.

I think the characters are well-formed, especially as this is part of a series, but even if you haven’t read the other books, you’ll still understand what’s going on. The chemistry between Cat and David is palpable, believable, and deliciously satisfying.

The sweetest part of this fake marriage is that it was never really fake between them. Perhaps some folks from the great beyond were making sure those they left behind were being well cared for and living their best lives, by putting certain people in their paths. Intuition and love did the rest.

Go forward with intuition and love, and you’ll always find your way. David and Cat surely did.

I love Abby and her amazingly sweet stories. I get beyond giggly any time I read one of her books. I love sports though Baseball is my least favorite sport HOWEVER I knew if Abby wrote it I would absolutely love it plus we get to see David's story! Abby I am so sorry about Emmy and Ryder, sending you all the love!

David
David is Duncan's (previous book) brother who lost his wife and is raising his daughter on his own. He's a professional baseball player and the biggest softy for his daughter but never fully allows himself to be happy due to his wife losing her life and not being there with him. He gives his all for everyone and runs on empty most days especially after getting his daughter a dog like she's always wanted. He is an absolute softy and my heart shattered for him.

Cat
Cat is an insanely hard working caring women who won the heart of Scarlet (David's daughter) when she was able to stop her run away dog like an absolute goddess. Cat has been hurt by those she trusted and now hardly lets anyone in, but when she realizes the dad she just helped is her childhood love that she lost when she moved everything begins to change. Especially once that letter from her aunt reaches her.

I loved how the grief was real. He didn't just move on quick without any thought. His guilt and then support from Ava was absolutely amazing. I hate that we lost Fi but her character was so perfect in planning for her family when she was gone. The letters were such a nice touch. Abby is so talented with writing her stories that I felt every pain, heartache and then joy with these characters. Plus her adorable Emmy was the star of the show and I'm so glad she found a way to preserve her memory forever.

Cat and David making sure everyone else was OK before themselves and talking out their fears seriously was so amazing but also heartbreaking. They didn't think of themselves first ever. They worried about those around them but luckily those around them saw it way before the two of them did.

I love tea time and Finn are always great and I can't wait for Logan's book 👀

Before I begin, I would like to thank Abby Greyson for allowing me to read a copy of her new release, Accidentally Sliding Into a Second Chance which is the fourth book of her Accidentally In Sports series and will be available on Amazon starting July 9th, 2025.

Professional shortstop David James watched his best friend and brother fake date and fall in love but he’s positive that it’s not possible for him. As a widower and single dad, his priorities are baseball and his young daughter. He was in love with his late wife and thought having another loving romantic relationship again was impossible until he saw someone familiar. Cat is done with love after dealing with her terrible father and leaving the boy she loved long ago. She’s the Smokies’ new Director of Fan Experience who doesn’t have time for her aunt’s marriage stipulations. Now Cat is working with David, and between him, his daughter, and their new chaotic dog, she’s falling fast.

This book was lovely. You have Cat, a dedicated, hardworking, kind, creative, and beautiful young woman that was burned by family so many times in her past and wants to provide for her loved ones. You have David, a strong, charming, considerate, sweet, and handsome professional baseball player who loves playing the game and spending time with his family. I loved seeing Scarlett, Ava, and Duncan from one of the author’s previous books, and Emmy was a hoot. David and Cat’s grief and worries were relatable, and I loved how everyone seemed to ship them after they ran into each other after so many years. The interactions between the main characters were sweet, honest, and vulnerable. I cheered for David and Cat to find confidence in themselves and in each other as I read the story. Overall, if you like baseball, cute dogs, shipping side characters, sassy kids, and sweet marriage of convenience/ childhood friends-to-lovers sports romance with low spice, then I would highly recommend this book.

A star shortstop. A benched heart. A second chance sparked by fate—and a sassy pup.

David

Will a matchmaking daughter and tail-wagging chaos help David and Cat hit a homerun, or will old heartaches throw them a curveball?

This contemporary sweet, clean and wholesome rom-com baseball sports romance is page-turning with exceptional world-building and characters that are resilient, captivating, a single dad, captivating, humorous, and realistic. Their journey is enthralling with accidentally sliding into a second chance romance, kisses only, a marriage of convenience, slow burn, he falls first, lots of sizzle, no spice romance with a happily ever after, David, Cat, Scarlett, and Emmy's story, betrayal, drama, heartfelt emotions, action, adventure, and more. I recommend reading this book by an extraordinary author who knows how to captivate her readers' hearts and attention with accidentally sliding into a second chance and an insta-family sweet sports romantic comedy that is sure to have readers transported into a world that is humorous, entertaining, and unforgettable.

Ever since Ava and Duncan’s story in the previous book, I couldn’t wait to get a closer look at Duncan’s older brother, and finally step into David’s world. Like his brother – and the rest of the “Accidentally In Sports” MMCs –, David is a professional athlete. He’s also a widower and a devoted single dad to his daughter, Scarlett, whom I already adored back in “Accidentally Checked By My Brother’s Best Friend”. She’s not only Duncan’s niece but also Ava’s – since David’s late wife, Fiona, was Ava’s twin sister. So while each book in the series can be read as a standalone, the last two are closely connected.

David isn’t looking for love – his late wife was the love of his life. But fate clearly has other plans. When his daughter convinces him to adopt an adorable yet mischievous dog, a series of coincidences leads him to cross paths with his first love – and this time, it might not end as just a fleeting reunion.

Cat has just started her new job, where she’s assigned to work closely with the quiet, guarded athlete she once knew as a child, before she and her mother moved away. Abby Greyson delivers one of her most charmingly twisty stories yet – the universe keeps throwing David and Cat together in unexpected ways – but I’ll stop there to avoid spoilers. If you want to know how it all unfolds, you’ll have to read it yourself. ;D

The real stars of this book are without a doubt Scarlett and her new puppy, Emmy, though David and Cat are close behind, and it was lovely to see Ava and Duncan again, too. “Accidentally Sliding Into A Second Chance” blends the author’s signature heartwarming humour with tender emotional depth. It’s a story about grief, love, healing, and the courage it takes to start over. It reminds us that second chances aren’t just possible – they can be absolutely beautiful.

⭐️⭐️⭐️️⭐️/ ️🌶️

If Abby Greyson writes it, I am going to read it. Plain and simple. I know that Abby is one of my favorite comfort authors and that her books will never disappoint. Accidentally Sliding into a Second Chance, is the fourth book in her interconnected series Accidentally in Sports. Every one of her stories brings us MCs that are easy to connect with and want to see them happy. She always delivers on her “all the sizzle and heat, with none of the spice” tagline. I never feel I am missing out on any romance.

Cat and David were a fun couple to read about. Once childhood neighbors, Cat moved away suddenly. They are reunited years later thanks to a rescue puppy. David adopts his new pet from the shelter that Cat volunteers at. Fate intervenes once again when Cat’s new job with the local baseball teams, is the team David plays for.

Abby perfectly weaves their growing romance, renewing friendship, and family blending story into a wonderful read. Even though their marriage is one of convenience, a stipulation to Cat receiving her inheritance, their mutual pining for each other continues to deepen. Abby provides just enough drama to pull you in, but the romance is what keeps this your intrigue and needing to know what is going to happen next. The entire series delivers this throughout all four books and I highly recommend you read them all.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

Accidentally Sliding Into A Second Chance kept me sucked in from the beginning. If there is one thing author Abby Greyson knows how to do is make her characters relatable, and weave an emotional story.

David is a single dad and professional baseball player who thrives on routine. However, he promised his wife before her passing that he would get their daughter Scarlet a dog. Which is where our story begins. David has adopted Emmy, an adorable but rambunctious greyhound mix, and is realizing he is in way over his head.
Cat volunteers at the rescue, David’s childhood crush, and is the new Director of Fan Experience for the Smokies Baseball club. Forced to work closely together will they be able to keep their feelings platonic or will it become something more?

Emmy is such a delight, who knew a dog could become a supporting character? Her and Scarlett are so alike in their sassy ways adding so much humor to the story.

Abby successfully tells a story about love, loss, grief, and moving on. The characters are well formed and the chemistry is palpable. This story will instantly captivate you with its heartfelt emotions and rom-com humor.

Abby Greyson steps up to the plate with Accidentally Sliding Into A Second Chance, a heartwarming, slow-burn sports romance that proves sometimes fate—and a matchmaking pup—has a game plan of its own.

Told in dual POV, this kisses-only gem brings us the story of David, a widowed star shortstop for the Smokies, and Cat, the team’s new Director of Fan Experience with a no-nonsense heart and a past tied to the man she thought she left behind. David’s days revolve around his daughter, his team, and keeping his heart firmly benched. Cat, burned by betrayal and family wounds, isn’t looking for love—but when their worlds collide, sparks fly like a summer night under stadium lights.

Throw in a sassy aunt with matchmaking on the brain, a daughter who knows exactly what (or who) her dad needs, and a pup with impeccable timing, and you’ve got a romance that’s full of charm, depth, and the sweetest second-chance glow.

This story hits all the right notes for fans of:
• Single dad tenderness
• Slow-burn swoon
• Marriage of convenience twists
• He-falls-first butterflies
• And a happily-ever-after you’ll cheer for

Accidentally Sliding Into A Second Chance is a feel-good love story that brings all the emotion and warmth without the spice.

Abby has written another fantastic story. Duncan and Ava make an appearance in this book also.
David and Cat were best friends growing up. But one day Cat told David she had to move. Her mother was moving them away from her father and the people he owed money to before they were hurt by said men.
Many years had passed and Cat moved back for a job with the Mavericks, not knowing David played for the team. (Baseball shortstop) David's brother (Duncan) played for the Hockey team. Cat's position is New director of fan experience. She helps with the team's social media and events.
Cat's aunt Dottie passed away and left Cat a big inheritance and stipulation. She doesn't know what to do.
Cat and David's first meeting on the field with a pup's for adoption. They choose Emmy a greyhound. Scarlett falls in love with her immediately.
David realizes Cat is his childhood crush and
Cat realizes David is her David. It takes them a bit to get together. Cat tells David about Aunt Dottie and her crazy stipulation in the will. So he comes up with marrying her and she agrees. They go through a bit trying to admit to each other that they still love each other. But love always wins.
I can't recommend this book highly enough. I encourage you to read Duncan and Ava's story first.

- Second chance romance
- Single father
- Feisty puppy
- Baseball romance
- Close proximity

This is the last book in the interconnected standalone series "Accidentally in Sports". For this book, we delve into the world of baseball.

Single father baseball player David has given up on love after losing his wife. But to honor her wishes, he and his daughter adopt a very feisty dog. While trying to wrangle said pup, he encounters a woman from his past - Cat.

Cat has a bleak outlook on love after a few bad experiences. She's starting a new chapter in her career by becoming a social media director for the baseball team that ironically David plays for. Cat always liked David while they were children and seeing him again awakens those feelings.

When Cat finds herself in a situation where she needs to be married to get an inheritance, she doesn't want to ask David to help her since he is still mourning his wife, but David volunteers...

Watching these two reconnect was sweet and I felt the relationship grew at a reasonable pace. I really enjoyed this story.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Cat, a volunteer for a pet rescue and the new Director of Fan Experience for the Smokies. David, shortstop for the Smokies and single dad, thought love was a once in lifetime thing after losing his wife, until a familiar face comes to his rescue. Between their past and Cat’s Aunt Dottie’s schemes will Cat and David hit a home run or curveball.

I really enjoyed this story. I loved David and Cat’s story. I enjoyed the Tea Time scoop! While this story did have some grief and deep moments it was a great blend with some laugh out loud moments. You can really feel the grief and conflict that David was going through. I loved that he had his brother and best friend to help him through his grief and feelings.
I loved the antics and chaos that Emmy provided.

If you are looking for a fun sports series this is for you with sweet kisses only, this is for you. Great for a summer reading binge session.

This is book in the Accidentally in Sports series, but can be read as a standalone. Some characters from previous books are mentioned.

I was excited to read this story when I found out it's about Duncan's brother/Ava's best friend, David who was introduced in the previous book. I loved the sweet relationship between David and his daughter, Scarlett then, and that is emphasized in this book as well. David became a favourite of mine, so I'm happy he got his second chance at love. I received an ARC of Accidentally Sliding into A Second Chance and would like to thank Abby Greyson for adding me to the review team.

I laughed and smiled so much throughout this fun story. The banter was good. The antics of the energetic dog, Emmy, were entertaining. She's sweet, funny, and had a special bond with Scarlett. I've known dogs like that and this was nicely represented here.

David and Cat were wonderful characters. I liked the gradual pace of their journey as they worked through their emotions for each other and about their situations. It felt appropriate and provided several sweet, funny and swoony interactions with this couple. Even though the marriage of convenience was unconventional, it worked well in this story. I loved how Abby Greyson carefully expressed the issues of grief and loss, the impact on the people who remain, and how difficult it can be to trust and love again.

I also really enjoyed the baseball coverage in this book. I believe this was my second baseball related romance and I loved everything about it.

This novel is a warm, emotional romance that blends second chances, sports, and canine chaos with heartfelt flair.

The characters are relatable and lovable, especially widower David and his spirited daughter, Scarlett. Their bond forms the emotional anchor of the novel.

The romance between David and Cat is slow-burning but very rewarding.

Greyson’s writing style is natural and engaging, with sparkling dialogue and thoughtful pacing.

Themes like grief, healing, and invisible illness add emotional weight without overpowering the charm.

The author could trim a touch of repetition in the introspective scenes and some exposition-heavy narration.

Still, these are minor bumps in an otherwise smooth ride.

Recommended for readers who love low-angst contemporary romance, single dads, and well-written stories where dogs cause delightful chaos and healing arrives wrapped in second chances.

Part of a series but can be read as a stand alone -- but better if read in order with the books In the series.

Tropes: Second chance love, sports romance , marriage of convenience

Note :Emmy the dog character is based on the author's own dog named Emmy. This part of the story is a loving, memorial tribute and adds a specialness to the story.

This dual POV is swoony, sweet and clean.David and Cat knew each other as kids, went their separate ways and find each other accidentally as adults. David is a widowed single father trying his best to raise a child on his own and keep his job as a professional baseball player. Cat is newly hired by David's team in the marketing department. Their friendship is renewed along with a romance that neither saw coming.

Heartfelt, easy read, delightful characters.

Thank you to the author for the chance to review. Opinions are my own.

Yay!!! 👏🏻‼️She’s back 😁 (Scarlett whom readers were introduced to and whom I fell in love with in Book 3 of the series, “Accidentally Checked By My Brother’s Best Friend”) but this time along with a perfect new sidekick of a rescue dog! I so wish I could meet Scarlett and Emmy in real life to just spend a day with them!!! (I’d even pay you to let me babysit them for a day!) They may not be the Main Characters in this terrific story but they are by far my absolute favorites!

I use the following scale to determine my rating for book reviews. And almost needless to say, Ms. Abby Greyson has knocked it out of the park yet again! Therefore from me it gets a solid 5 stars.
5 = This was great/good/perfect!
4 = This was good/acceptable.
3 = Needs improvement/bad
2 = This was awful.
1 = This person should never be allowed to write a book again.

*I was gifted the privilege to read an ARC copy of the novel in exchange for my honest and fair review!

I just love reading Abby Greyson's stories. This sports series is one of my favorites from this author. The stories are relatable and feel very real. I love Cat and her warming and kind personality. She is exactly what David, Scarlett, and Emmy needed. I loved the scene when David connected the why Cat felt familiar. The connection between all the characters is so refreshing. I also laughed at the beginning of the epilogue when Cat's doctor made innuendos at David and Cat about leaving his office and getting started on the "baby making." That scene made me giggle and I almost lost control of my bladder:).
This is the kind of story that leaves you with a heart warming smile even after you finish the book. The pregnancy reveal scene was simply adorable with the baby shoes. David and Scarlett figured out that Cat was pregnant just by looking at the baby shoes and you could feel the love through the pages! That was priceless.

Is a sweet marriage of convenience, single dad, second chance, he falls first romance with no cliffhanger.
Some of the lines I really like --- “The only way you know how. One step at a time and lots of practice.” --- “Need some help with your dog wrangling skills, do you?” -- “Are you here to use your dog wrangling skills on baseball players?” ---
--- “You make me sound like I’m a matchmaking fiend.” --- “Looks like that runaway pup is actually a matchmaker who thinks our newlyweds need to kiss!” ----
Scarlett is David's adorable little girl and they adopt a greyhound puppy named Emmy. Scarlet and Emmy are adorable together and Emmy gets into all sorts of mischief.
What Logan up to? What's Hope up to? What's Tea Time up to? What's Finn up to? These and other questions will all be answered.
I loved Cat and David's story and I'm sure you will too. I've loved everyone of her books that I've read and I can't wait to read her next book.

Cat is the new Fan Experience Director. A.K.A. Dog wrangler as evidenced by an encounter at the local shelter when David and Scarlett are picking up the very rambunctious Emmy. Imagine her surprise when she realizes that the David James she has been hired to handle his social media is the very same David she had a crush when she was young….before she was forced to move away.
David is a single dad still grieving the loss of his wife when the encounter with Scarlett, Emmy and Cat sparks memories and feeling he thought were long forgotten. Brought together by a stipulation in her Aunts will they navigate their feelings as the “fake” relationship develops into something more. I absolutely love this series and am so happy to see David finally give love a second chance. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book provided by booksprout.

This is the fourth book in the Accidentally in Sports series. I have read all of them and I love how each book is interconnected. Duncan and Ava from one of the other books were a constant in this one given that Ava is David’s best friend, Duncan is his brother, and Ava is David’s last wife’s twin sister. Sounds complicated but it really isn’t.

Emmy is a joy to read about in this book. I cannot imagine having a pet that rambunctious!

Abby Greyson is an automatic read for me for a reason! I love her storylines and while I know part of the reason I got this story as an ARC is to make sure things make sense and suss out any grammatical errors, I love that her books are 99% error free which allows me to just enjoy reading her books without getting pulled from the story because of errors/mistakes.

This story is dual POV, clean, kisses only, contemporary rom-com... I definitely recommend it!

David and Cat were next-door neighbors and best friends as children. Cat moved away when she was 12 and it broke David's heart.

By a wonderful coincidence Cat is hired to work for the Smokies, the baseball team that David plays short-stop for.

However, they first meet at Mile High Mutt's Rescue where David is adopting a dog for his daughter Scarlet. The dog they adopt is named Emmy but Chaos would be a better name for her. When you read Accidentally Sliding Into a Second Chance I'm sure you will agree with me.

There's a lot more to this story... like how David and Cat get together... First as a marriage of convenience then for real. Like I said, I definitely recommend it.

I was given an ARC of this story but all thoughts and comments are mine, given voluntarily.

Second Chance At Love

David has been a single dad to Scarlett since losing his wife yrs ago. His sole focus has been his daughter, his baseball career with the Smokies & his brother & sister-in-law. He knew he’d already met his soulmate in Fiona & he was ok with that, until he wasn’t.
Cat is back in her home town after many yrs away. The loss of her aunt & a new job as the Smokies Director of Fan Experience has brought her back. There seems to be a few hitches in her plan though. The boy she left behind is now the hot single dad she has to work with & her scheming aunts last wishes in order to get her inheritance must have been crazy! Or was she??
This story was such a fun read! Scarlett is a complete riot, just like she was in Duncan & Ava book! She honestly steals the story any time she’s in text! Can two people really fall in love so easily? Read & find out!

Accidentally Sliding Into a Second Chance is the fourth installment in the Accidentally in Sports series. It’s a cute, engaging and heartwarming second chance at love story. It's emotional and enjoyable. I was captivated from page one and read it in one sitting, I couldn't put it down once I started reading. David and Cat are well developed and loveable characters but Scarlett and Emmy totally stole the show! They're the best!!! I laughed so hard and cried so much. An emotional rollercoaster ride with an amazing HEA. Honestly the best of the series and I'm here for it. I don't know what Abby Greyson has in store for the next book but I know it's going to be an amazing addition.
