The book gave some good insight into how to avoid overthinking and analyzing, but I feel that the majority of the book was more about how to avoid misunderstandings through better communication.

Anchored, Not Anxious

As a Marine veteran and longtime high school teacher, I’ve seen how overthinking can derail both relationships and learning. I picked up this book hoping for personal insight—but ended up with strategies I could also share with my students who are battling inner storms caused by trauma.

What resonated most were the mindfulness practices that helped me stay grounded instead of spiraling, and the breakdown of attachment styles that finally explained why I kept falling into the same emotional patterns. The communication tips weren’t just helpful for romantic connections—they’ve helped me speak with clarity and calm in all areas of my life.

This book doesn’t just teach you how to stop overthinking—it gives you permission to pause, reflect, and grow. If you’ve ever felt trapped in your own mind or watched a student do the same, this is the lifeline worth grabbing.

Definitely some useful tools to help negative thought stopping in the moment. Good suggestions on how to sit and talk with your loved one, what that should look like. I could use more detail about a few of these topics though. A good generalization to get started.
