A mysterious mansion. A society on the brink. A fight for their lives.

When the government implements a new tagging program, Matt's family and three others decide it's time to get out. Leave it all behind and flee North. Their destination? A mysterious mansion in the mountains left to Matt's family by their grandfather, Elias.

Why he left it to them, no one knows. But the mansion, like their grandfather, holds many secrets. As Matt, Luca, Bennet, and Nolan explore its halls, they quickly realize there is more than just the curious libraries and striking stained-glass windows. What Elias left them isn't a mansion at all, it's a training ground for warriors.

What they discover will not only terrify them to their core, but also force them to confront their untimely destinies. The secrets they've unearthed can no longer remain hidden, for there is a darker scheme unfolding that will alter their paths forever. For Matt and the others, a decision must be made.

It's time to hide, or hunt. There's no other choice.

This coming-of-age story will captivate fans of Ready Player One and Stranger Things, and is ideal for clean fiction readers aged 12-to-16.

I am not exaggerating when I say I couldn't put this down. I was reading it before bed, when I got up in the morning, in line at the bank, while I was filling my gas tank...
Troy Hooker has crafted an intriguing story that harkens back to the "kids save the world" movies like The Lost Boys, Stranger Things, or Super 8. In the face of a national disaster, Matt and his friends and family retreat to his grandfather's mansion in the backwoods of Idaho. But when the kids become separated from their parents, they find that something even darker than what they left behind is waiting for them in the woods surrounding the mansion. They will have to work together and use their collective skills to survive.
Each character is written engagingly, and their relationships are entertaining and believable. The story moves along at a good clip, with several twists and turns that kept me guessing, with an ending that you will NEVER see coming.
Pick up Demon Tide! It's great for a night in...by candlelight...during a storm.

This is a great sci-fi adventure with a group of 7 teens navigating the end of the world as they know it, working together to survive, and trying to figure out the mystery and secrets of their surroundings.
There's an eerie tone throughout keeping you on edge, with strange noises and shadows, hidden rooms, and growing threats.
I liked that each character brings something helpful to the group, and you follow a group of teens reacting to dangerous situations and powering through it together.
There is a good amount of intrigue from shadowy governments, secretive labs, being on the run and hiding out in a creepy mansion, and stumbling on demonic monsters.
I enjoyed that this had the kids save the world vibes, fighting monsters, and using their survival instincts.
This is the first book in the series, and i'm excited for more to come.

Much needed book for a niche with a void!

Demon Tide is a "boy book" all the way! It has a large cast, intermittent humor, cryptids/monsters, and close calls. It's also clean but authentic. This first book in the series is a little slow to start, but stick with it because Demon Tide more than makes up for it over the course of the book. This is the perfect book if you're YA reader, especially if you're a dude, who loves daring escapes, epic adventures and us-against-the-world stakes.

I enjoyTroy’s writing style. It’s also something that my 12 year old son can read as well. So why not try a new adventure with a story that is fun for all ages.

Stranger Things meets The Last Kids on Earth in this genre-blending thrill ride of dystopian suspense, supernatural mystery, and just the right touch of light horror. Demon Tide was easily one of the best books I’ve read this year (and I’ve been binging Seth Ring and BrandoSando).

Troy nails the balance between eerie, edge-of-your-seat tension and clean, age-appropriate storytelling. Perfect for MG and YA readers, but smart and gripping enough to keep adults hooked. I found myself yelling at the group not to follow through on their hair-brained plans—and loving every minute of it.

The backdrop of conspiracy theories and a world teetering on collapse adds depth to the already chilling supernatural mystery, all set within the walls of a haunting, secret-filled mansion.

If you enjoy thrillers or supernatural tales with a hint of horror and threads of faith and science fiction woven in, this one’s for you.

Well done, Troy—what a wild and fun ride! Book two can’t come soon enough.

Throughout the book, you anticipate something is going to go wrong. There were some thrilling chapters that have you on the edge of your seat, as well as scenes that will make you laugh and tug at your heartstrings. This book gives off Goonies vibes with a wide cast of characters from different backgrounds, whose personalities often clash but who are also extremely loyal to one another. The kids have to learn to rely on each other for survival. And the cover is amazing! If you're looking for a book for your teen (specifically boys but girls can enjoy this as well), I would highly recommend this read by Troy Hooker.
