Resisting temptation will test me to my limits

I've been in love with Skye since we were kids. But she's off-limits, not just because I’m her boss, but she's my best friend's ex. And, together we made a pact as teenagers. And unbreakable bro code. Never Touch each other’s ex. Ever.

But I’m forced to spend hour after hour, day after day, with her beauty. In meetings, conference calls, emails, business trips. Every. Single. Week. It’s hideously torturous, and I shouldn’t want her the way I do. But then I think she might feel the same way…

Jacob is my boss. He’s broad, toned, dripping in ink and it turns out the man I’m falling for has been under my nose this entire time and yet I can’t have him. It’s too complicated and he won’t betray his best friend and my ex.

So we resist. Although it’s amazing how much naughtiness you can get up to without touching. But then it becomes clear this is more than just lust. This might be real. How can we ever make this work? I wanted a fairy tale, but right now I'd settle for a chance to at least kiss my prince.

Love Jacob? Meet his gorgeous friend OWEN in the next book in The Billionaire Boys!

One Liner: A fast and steamy read

Jacob had been in love with Skye since they were teens. However, she chose his best friend, and he supported them as much as possible. But when Skye finally breaks free from her toxic relationship, Jacob helps her find her footing. Yet, he cannot break the bro-code and date his best friend’s ex.
As their feelings for each other intensify, they realize that what they have is something more than surface level. Can Skye and Jacob do what’s best for them, or will they stick to the rules?

The story comes in Skye and Jacob’s first-person POVs.

My Thoughts:

Though this is the second in the series, it works as a standalone. Lincoln from book one has a side role here, and so does Owen from book three. I haven’t read the first and haven’t decided about the third. Still, I had no issues following this book.

This is a rerelease by a publisher (I think the first edition was self-published) with a brand-new cover, which I really like. I prefer covers where the guy has some clothes on and exudes confidence. No idea if the contents inside have been updated or changed.

The POVs switched are clearly marked, which is useful since both are in the first person. The voices were distinct enough, so it was easy to follow. Moreover, the POV switch is not for alternative chapters, but changes based on the plot development and setting. That’s a good way to go.

The narration is pretty fast. TBH, the plot is rather thin, so it’s nice that the story moves along without stretching beyond its limit. Since bro code from childhood sounds a bit silly, the author addressed it by making the characters too say the same. It has been used for character development as well.

However, there’s a subplot that didn’t exactly sit with the rest. I can see how it became a trigger for a vital development. There’s some talk of trauma and stuff. However, it pays on the safer side despite the fear, so the whole thing ends up more as a plot device.

There is a lot of steam, like from the second page (be warned that this scene can be uncomfortable given the relationship dynamics, though I think it was handled as well as it could have been). The short author’s note at the beginning makes this clear. I’d say it goes 4.5 (on the scale of 5, so yeah, steamy hot). Some dirty talk too.

A bit of drama and a happy-ever-after followed by an epilogue or two. I like extended epilogues, so I enjoyed them.

What sustains the book is the MMC’s love for the FMC. It’s so intense, deep, and overwhelming that it manages to strengthen the weak areas to an extent and makes the book a worthy read. It’s a thin line between love and obsession, but the author writes it well.

To summarize, Jacob is a quick read with some drama and loads of spice if you want brain candy. Don’t think too much about it. Enjoy it for what it is.

Thank you, Rachel's Random Resources and Boldwood Books, for the eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

Self note:

There's a scene where the mmc has sex with the ow, and the fmc sees them and gets turned on.

Not my cup of tea. 🤷‍♀️

Where on earth do I start with this book? I said that Lincoln was Vicki’s best book but I reserve the right to retract that (even though Lincoln is outstanding!) Jacob is next level, completely different to her other books Vicki has flexed her creative muscles and it has paid off in spades. The angst, the chemistry, and all the emotions had me clinging onto every word. Desperate to savour this book as one of my most anticipated reads I failed miserably and read it in less than 24hrs I couldn’t put it down. Jacob has cemented himself as a new book boyfriend for me, fiercely loyal, tattooed bad boy with a heart of gold who cares for his woman without a second thought, and a hopeless romantic.

Jacob has harboured feelings for Skye from the moment he laid eyes on her as a teenager but he didn’t think she saw him and fell for his best friend Owen instead and for 14 years he watched his best friend and the woman he loves have a toxic relationship and he was always there on the sidelines picking up the pieces when Owen forgets major life events or just to make sure Skye is ok, but he has made a pact never to touch a friends ex and when Owen and Skye finally split he has to use his self control to keep up his pact with Owen.

Skye feels like she is finally able to see who she really is after being in Owen’s shadow and feeling like she was never enough for him because of his family. One Saturday night staying late at work she see her Boss Jacob in a situation she really should walk away from but she can’t help but stare at the beautiful, tattooed Adonis. That night changes things and she now definitely sees Jacob.

From the off Skye and Jacob are hot as hell, even without touching they had sparks, who knew you could have so much fun without touching 🫣 But the emotions and twists had me turning the pages constantly I didn’t want the book to end I gasped, cried but I was definitely smiling from ear to ear by the end, I mean who wouldn’t be smiling if their boyfriend bought them a castle to live in?

Jacob loved Skye since they were teens. She has been dating his bff for 14 years—- Skye finally wises up— it took her long enough— and breaks it off with her boyfriend. Soon after Skye sees Jacob who is also her boss railing a girl that looks like her over his desk. Suddenly she sees Jacob in A whole new light and is attracted to him. He’s so in love with her it really gives you the feels but he won’t act on it—because when he and his friends were kids they made a pact not to date exes. I liked the unrequited love aspect of this book and the romance between The Mcs … but the whole stalker story that was thrown in was just bizarre and didn’t seem to fit. Should have been 100 pages shorter and stuck with how Jacob finally got his girl.

Viki has Done Another Outstanding Job!💥

🌟 5/5

🛑 Look at the author's trigger warning!!!

‼️ While this is book 2 in The Boys of Castleview Cove series, I recommend you read The Triple Trouble series to get a better understanding of the side characters you meet in Jacob!

POV: first person, dual perspective

Summary:
JACOB has loved his best friend's girlfriend since he was a young teenager. Awkward and slightly nerdy, Jacob knew that he never stood a chance when compared to his goofy and popular friend. Growing up next to the person Jacob loves, only gets harder when SHE finds out! It's not like he can avoid her, because he's her boss!
SKYE has dated the same guy since she was a teenager. When Skye realizes how unfairly she is being treated in the relationship, she breaks it off. One fateful night in the office, reveals to Skye just how Jacob thinks about her. Will they let the past dictate their future?

My Thoughts:
OMG, Vicki has done it again with another superb novel! I will always be a proud supporter of all books, wrote by her! You never know what you are going to get with each new one.
You meet the main characters in Lincoln's book, and you get a small glimpse of Jacob's love for Skye. The beginning of the book starts off with a BANG... Quite literally!🤣🌶🥵
Skye gives me girl-next-door vibes, with the quirky space buns, tutorial channel for calligraphy, and knee-high socks. You never really know if you're going to get her sweet/innocent side, or her spicy/naughty side... You also never really know how Jacob is going to be either.😏
I will warn you, if you have issues with certain topics, go check out the trigger warnings. This book is much more on the darker side than Vicki's other books.

Thank you so much for the ARC copy, Vicki. Bring on Owen's book, because this girl is READY!

Jacob has loved Skye since first glance in high school but his best friend Owen took his chance first and he was relegated to friend-only status with Skye for over a decade. Now that she has broken up with her less than stellar ex, Jacob still can’t make his move thanks to an oath the friends swore as teens. When Skye becomes aware of Jacob’s feelings for her, all bets are off. She knows who she really belongs with and wants her happily ever after with the man of her dreams.

I really liked this one but struggle to find words to describe or define it. It jumps into the spice quickly with a brief scene, then switches to a slow burn. There’s pining and longing, loads of sexual tension, a touch of forbidden romance, all with a dose of danger/suspense.

I thought the author did a great job of making us believe in the longtime friendship between Jacob and Skye, and the dilemma Jacob felt at loving his best friend’s (ex)girlfriend. Once Skye’s eyes were opened to Jacob’s feelings it seemed like there was no stopping her. She knew who she should be with and never stopped trying to convince him they could be together. There was a lot of love and trust between the main characters and that really added to their relationship as it progressed. This does take a dark and twisty turn that was unexpected but entertaining.

Thank you to VH Nicholson and NetGalley and Boldwood for an advance copy of this book for review.

I love Lincoln and I was NOT prepared to love this one even more! Jacob exceeded all expectations! It was HOT and the characters were well-developed for the genre. I don’t think I can possibly enjoy the next one as much, but I can’t wait to give it a try!

Another favorite book by Vicki!!😍 from the previous book I was dying to read Jacob and Skye’s story and it was absolutely perfect, the story got me hooked from the beginning and I devoured it in less than a day. Jacob and Skye were the perfect characters, I loved their scenes together and how after all those years Jacob finally had the chance of admitting his feelings for Skye.

Skye had been Jacob’s best friend’s girlfriend since high school and he always loved her but he never admitted his feelings because he didn’t want to damage his relationship with his best friend. Now 14 years later Skye was finally single, she realized her boyfriend never treated her like she deserved so she ended things and decided to focus on herself. She worked with Jacob and he was a great friend but after an office encounter everything changed between them.

Jacob was the first friend Skye had when she transferred to their school and they had a lot of things in common but thanks to his shyness at the time they never had the chance of being together. In the present he still cared about her and I loved reading everything he did for her, even if he made her believe that all the gifts were from his best friend. Now that she was single he still knew they couldn’t be together because of his friend but Skye started seeing him as more than a friend and she finally realized how Jacob felt about her.

I loved reading their interactions, how Skye tried to convince Jacob to finally give in to their feelings and the attraction between them. Jacob tried to pull away from Skye in the beginning but his love never went away and she knew how much he cared about her so she really wanted to know how it was to be loved by him. They waited a lot to be together but I loved how everything happened between them and how after some time they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Also their steamy scenes were really hot, they had a lot of pent up tension so it was nice reading how they finally gave in to their chemistry.

The story is filled with drama, angst and excitement, Jacob and Skye went through something stressful but I loved how Jacob tried everything to protect Skye and how at the end he gave her a love like she deserved all those years and how they found a way to be happy.

Now I can’t wait to read Owen’s story and see how he redeem himself.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Having read this author's work many times before i always look so forward to picking up another one of her books! After Lincoln i couldn't wait for more from this series. I picked up this second installment and got right back into The Boys of Castleview Cove! I so enjoyed this story!

Skye and Jacob's journey captured my attention right from the very get go! These two have known each other since they were teenagers. Skye is the ex of Jacob's best friend. One moment can change things, but will Skye and Jacob give into their feelings? I couldn't wait to find out!

The chemistry between Skye and Jacob was undeniable. I wasn't sure how these two would tackle things, especially when it came to their hearts. I really liked how i didn't know what all to expect and the way this story kept me on my toes. Both Skye and Jacob had me feeling so many things and of course they made me blush!

With Jacob, Ms.Nicolson has created such a good read that kept me turning the pages! I am so looking forward to diving back into this world with Owen's book!

Be sure to read the author's content warning.

I feel cheated! Lol. I read the sneak peak of Jacob at the end of Lincoln and thought I had a clear idea of how Skye and Jacob's story would unfold. Oh how wrong I was!

Now that's not to say that their road to HEA is boring or predictable, in fact, it's far from it!

Once again VH Nicolson serves up a compelling love story where the road is rocky AND sometimes treacherous.

Beyond all the stolen moments and self imposed torture that Skye and Jacob suffer, they are side by side. Supporting and looking after each other, just as you'd hope for a couple working their way towards a never ending love.

The twist in this story, as we know there always is one, seemed out of place almost. I don't believe it necessarily added anything to Skye and Jacob's story but certainly added a very strong and pertinent warning.

Having said that, it didn't affect my enjoyment of Jacob and Skye and their journey to HEA, the Castleview Cove characters or my need for more from this amazing author.

I can't wait for Owen's story which will undoubtedly complete the trifecta of Castleview Cove cuties!

Y'all this book was the perfect combination of super steamy and tons of heart, I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! Can you imagine how much built up tension is between Jacob and Skye after he has had feelings for her for over a decade? Let's just say that it is through the roof! There are some crazy twists and turns, but the author delivered them in just the right way.

All in all, you should read this book ASAP because I THOROUGHLY enjoyed it and give it 4.5 outta 5 stars. This author might be newish to me, but I will definitely be checking out past books and look forward to seeing what is next!

PS: Thank you to VH Nicolson and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!

Well what can I say?! As soon as I read chapter 1 at the end of Lincoln, I have been dying to read this book and it didn't disappoint!!

You are straight in the with the spice 🔥 but this book isn't all about that. I really enjoyed the boys relationship and dynamic together. They are still hilarious, loved seeing Lincol show up.

Skye is just a force of sunshine too, I loved how she just went for what she wants, her fire in herself is stunning.

I really enjoyed the Triple Trouble series but I think I'm just loving The Boys Of Castleview Cove slightly more 😍

He’s her boss, ex’s best friend and only now after 15 years has Skye noticed more than just a friendship with Jacob who has been in love with Skye since he laid eyes on her in school.

I really enjoyed the chemistry between Jacob and Skye and how much he clearly loves and will do anything for her. There were twists and turns that I was not expecting and I struggled to put this book down.

Jacob is the second book in The Boys of CastleView Cove. After reading the sneak peak at the end of the book I am looking forward to seeing what Owen will do in the next one.

Oh how I wish I’d read this earlier!! I absolutely love life at Castleview Cove and Jacob and Skye’s story has it all!
Straight off in the first chapter there was spice and I felt all the emotions reading this book.
Jacob had been in love with his best friends ex since he was 16 and now in their 30’s they are working together and he was her boss! There is a a good story line and one I did not see coming (which I love) they went through so much to get to their happy ever after 💖
All the feels and definitely a 5 ⭐️ rating from me. Now I can’t wait for book 3 in the ‘Boys of Castleview cove’ series!! I adored the hardback cover so much I had to get it along with Lincoln’s book 💜💙 thank you VH Nicolson for another cracking book!! 😍

It's always amazing following newish authors on their journey. My heart is so full from reading this fantastic story. VH Nicolson has outdone herself! It is (IMHO!) her best book yet. It is so wonderfully crafted with great characters and storylines that draw you in and keep you wanting to read. I reluctantly put it down last night at 30% and picked it up again today and read straight through.

Now I want to visit Scotland again too!

ARC review-releasing 17th November!
The next story in the The boys of Castleview Cove series - Jacob and Skye 🦋♥️🔥
Ok so I am sorry Knox but Jacob become my new favourit male character by Vicki 😁.
Jacob is in love for 14 years with Skye but because of the pact B-boy Deal with his friends (never date sisters, ex-girlfriends) he tries to keep his distance. That creats an enormous and hot sexual tension between them. The first chapter OMG 🎇🎆🧨 what a start of the book.
This book is little different, many unexpected situations, but in my opinion I think this is the best book from Vicki so far. You won't be able to put it down, so don't start to read it in the evening 😁.
Will Skye be able to change Jacob's mind? Is the bothside atraction enough? Or is there something more? Maybe Owen is not the onlyone who will not aprove their relationship? Well to find out you defenetly must read this story.
I am looking forward to read Owen book next, because till now he is an idiot 😁 (but I expect Vicki will soon explain his personality).

Thank you @NetGalley and @BoldwoodBooks for the ARC. I loved Jacob and Skye story. Jacob should have been Skye first love, but Jacob waits to long to ask her out in high school and his best friend swoops in and starts a decade on-off relationship. Skye wants something true and Jacob wants her. This is full of love and romance with a some spice. Such a good read.

Wow!
I’m not quite sure where to start here except to say this book was absolutely brilliant! Vicki’s books definitely get better and better, and I would highly recommend this series.
This is book 2 of the Castleview Cove boys and we got a little glimpse in book 1 (Lincoln) at Jacob and Skye’s relationship. He is her boss and as well as being close friends since school, Skye is also dating Lincoln and Jacob’s best friend Owen.
Jacob has been in love with Skye since he first met her, but Owen asked her out first, so he has buried his feelings ever since.

Chapter 1 starts quite literally with a bang and you’ll be gripped immediately. I absolutely loved Jacob and Skye both individually and together.

Vicki has included content and trigger warnings at the start of the book and on her website, and this is definitely her darkest book to date in terms of some of the storyline and themes so I would suggest checking them out, and although they may give you a little bit of a spoiler as to what might happen, you will still be in for some shocks and twists!

Absolutely fantastic, I couldn’t put it down! Huge thanks for the arc!

This is a pretty amazing love story. I agree with another reviewer that this is my favorite book by this author. It was extremely well written and suspenseful and I had a hard time putting it down. I absolutely LOVED Skye and Jacob and how their relationship came together. You could truly feel how much Jacob had always loved her and you could understand how Skye fell in love with him so quickly. The chemistry between them was perfectly done. These two were like soulmates who finally found their way to each other.

POSSIBLY SOME SPOILERS HERE..

There were a couple things that I didn’t like tough. I did not like how descriptive it was when Skye walked in on Jacob having sex with Verity. I don’t like descriptive sex scenes with OW. I didn’t like that Skye got turned on by it. I would have rather she realized she was attracted to him by being upset and hurt seeing him with another woman.

Another thing was that I couldn’t believe that Jacob was going to walk away from the love of his life over Owen when Owen was such a horrible friend in the first place. He stole Skye right from under Jacob when they were teenagers and yet when the time came when he and Skye could be together, he rejected her over and over again because of his loyalty to Owen. Owen didn’t deserve it IMO.

Other than those two things… this was an epic love story and I miss reading about them together.

I’ve got so much to say about this one but simply put… I loved it.

Jacob was a sweet, caring, sincere hero who takes romance to the next level but then you get this commanding and dominating side to him too and it brings more life to his character. Honestly, I enjoyed learning about him and couldn’t get enough. He’s just become my second favourite V.H. Nicolson hero. Skye was a wonderful heroine too, she was kind, creative, quiet but head strong. I thought her character development was good and I liked seeing her come out of her shell as the book progressed.

Jacob has loved Skye for years but missed his chance to tell her so has been on the side-lines watching her, doing all these kind gestures whilst fantasising, and hoping for a time where she would officially be his. Skye has finally noticed Jacob in the way he's been hoping and realised for how long he's liked her but when he refuses to answer questions and is adamant about sticking to the bro code he made as a teen Skye starts a flirtatious and dangerous game and during this, she finally realises that she’s liked Jacob since they were kids too.

I loved their relationship progression and all its aspects from the childhood friends to lovers, the unrequited love element, the realisation that ‘the one’ has been next you this entire time, the push and pull, and the pure admiration they had for one another. I couldn’t get enough, and I want more. The story doesn’t start easy and frustration at their situation and the result of years of longing causes them both to lash out and they do hurt each other a little. Though you also get these moments of quiet confessions and yearning that are so emotional and impacting on both the reader and them. We saw little flashbacks into their history and if their first meeting wasn’t sweet enough it also showed how these two were destined to be together and made some things in their present day lives so much clearer. There was also the chemistry which was pure magic and that was before the steamy scenes even started. These two have the kind of chemistry that could set your kindle on fire. When I say I devoured this book, I’m not joking.

I thought the book was emotional enough when the focus was their relationship. Then the other storylines really developed and whilst a little predictable, and dark in their nature (check the trigger warnings) they added to the book in a good way. Not only do they show case Nicolson’s writing and her ability to create these books which will grab your attention and seamlessly blend the challenging with the romantic, but it also showcased how in love Jacob and Skye were. Challenges and drama kept getting thrown at them, but they came out so much stronger and got a happy ending which was deserving of them both.

V.H. Nicolson has been a standout author for me this year and I cannot wait to see what happens in Owen’s book and others by her.

4 Whatever. However. Forever Stars

This was a tone shift in Nicolson's usual plot from her other romance novels. Although we've already seen some in Fraser and Ella's book, the suspense and thrill in this instalment is further gripping. One I did not expect after reading Lincoln's book.

Jacob Baxter has been in love with Skye McNair since meeting her during their teens. Considering himself as the odd one out of the trifecta, he has been sidelined repetitively, especially by Owen. Even though he never had the chance to convey his sentiments towards Skye since then, he was always by her side throughout her rocky relationship with Owen... for 14 years. Enduring the torture of jealousy and never-ending heartbreak of seeing Skye with his best friend, it becomes worse when the hope of being with her crashes because of a bro-code made by the trio.
Skye realized her relationship with Owen was going nowhere and decided to end it definitively against Owen's wishes. Moving on, she discovers some revelations concerning Jacob including his true feelings about her. But with the bro-code looming over, Jacob is adamant at first not to pursue the newly single Skye. The line of forbidden gradually disappears the more they spend time together at work. Not to forget Skye's relentless flirts. Jacob eventually gives in and decides to get his long-awaited chance with Skye but is required to tell Owen first. Unfortunately, their plan to finally become official has detoured to a dark and deplorable turn. Honestly, that got me brooding at first if that unanticipated twist in the story was necessary just to add intensity to the drama. Nevertheless, it made me read further sans pause. The nail-biting suspense got me hooked and at the same time impatient for Jacob and Skye to finally get their HEA. But nope! They've been hit again with another traumatic happening. These two cannot take a break from pain and suffering, seriously! But in the end, they've surpassed the dreadful line and finally seized their HEA.
It was one heck of a rocky ride being with Jacob and Skye. Their chemistry was explosive despite not touching at first and Jacob's love and patience for Skye has been truly admirable. His loyalty to his friends is respectable and how he handled Owen was satisfactorily written.
I enjoyed everything in this book and cannot wait for Owen's story in the final instalment of the series. Let's see how this broken man redeems himself. After being introduced as Skye's unworthy ex-boyfriend, I'm not sure this man has won me over.

Jacob is the 2nd book in The Boys of Castleview Cove series. He’s head over heels in love with Skye since they were kids, but she has no idea. Skye has recently ended a long term relationship with Owen but Jacob still knows she’s off-limits, not just because he’s her boss but she’s his best friends ex and since they were teenagers they made a pact to Never Touch an ex, Ever. Although its torture for him, at least he gets to be in her presence everyday, until one late night in the office Skye sees much more than she bargained for, but when she plays along rather than shying away he starts to think that she might feel the same way.
Skye can’t believe that her boss and friend has been under her nose the entire time but after that night she can’t stop thinking about him. The only trouble is his stupid Bro Code means he won’t betray his best friend and her ex. Can she ever get her Happily Ever After just like the Fairytales she grown up loving.

Jacob is god tier boyfriend material, he has and continues to do anything to make Skye happen, especially given that for years it was without her knowing, all so she could have some semblance of happiness.
You could feel how difficult it was to stay loyal to Owen, he has only ever dreamed of being with Skye and the possibility of a future together seemed almost impossible. He’s not willing to loose her so knows he needs to speak to Owen, to reason with him and hope he can understand. The chemistry building between them is off the charts, what they can get up to without touching is impressive 🌶️
I don’t want to spoil it for anyone but the part that I could describe as “thriller” had me reaching for the tissues and I don’t think I put them down until the end!, their was so much that was risking their future together before they even had a chance to start, hence I devoured this book in less than a day.
Owen doesn’t come across well at all in this book but it’s clear their is so much more to his story so it will be interesting how his book plays out in the 3rd and final of the series.
Now Lincoln for me was a 5 star read, I would go as far to say I loved Jacob more. Vicki is a fantastic writer, her stories really pack a punch, with fantastic depth yet delivering a delicious amount of spice that gets you hot around the collar 🌶️🌶️
Thank you NetGalley, VH Nicolson and Boldwood Books for the ARC, all opinions expressed are my own.

Patience is a virtue

Yet another fantastic story from this great writer. Although you could read this as a standalone title, I strongly suggest that you start with the first book in this series, Lincoln. In fact, start at the beginning with Hunting Eden and work your way through book by book, because they are all amazing and will completely immerse you in the wonderful world that is Castleview Cove.

Jacob is probably one of the most beautifully patient and thoughtful men on the planet. He has loved his best friends girlfriend for fourteen years; watching them break up and make up over and over and yet he has never told anyone how he feels.

Not only has he stood by and watched, he’s constantly been by Skye’s side supporting and encouraging her whilst her boyfriend, Owen forgets important details and basically treats her like she isn’t the most desirable thing in his life… because that’s how Jacob sees her.

Only when Skye breaks it off for good do all the truths and lies of the last fourteen years begin to unravel, making Skye realise that the man on her arm wasn’t the man she thought he was. It was her boss and best friend, Jacob that kept her relationship alive. So, when they are finally free to date… why can’t they be together?

Because of some stupid bro code that has existed since they were 13! No touching each others girls or their ex’s. Stupid, huh. But Jacob is a man of his word and he feels like he can’t betray his best friend. No matter how desperately he wants Skye, he can’t break the pact.

But temptation and flirtation chips away at his resolve and slowly but surely the inevitable happens. And it’s definitely a long awaited conclusion but a happy one.

Unfortunately, nothing in the world of romance ever runs smooth and Skye and Jacob’s love is put to the ultimate test. It’s harrowing and unsettling, but it makes everyone see just what lengths Jacob will go to for his girl.

Fantastic story. Great characters and some very naughty-but-oh-so-nice scenes that are just ‘wow’. And it’s so sweet seeing how much Jacob has loved her for so long. That tattoo… just aaawwwww inspiring.

I’m interested to see where things go with Owen’s story because in this book, he’s been extremely difficult to like. Here’s hoping he redeems himself.

Oh, where to start with Jacob. The book is intense and steamy, romantic and filled with regret, and a wonderful friends-to-lovers romance. Off-limits due to a pact made in his teens, Jacob never went after Skye. Her off-again-on-again relationship with one of his besties, Owen, made a relationship between Jacob and Skye impossible. Jay just loves her from afar, and has for years, even though it makes him miserable.

Skye knew Owen wasn't for her and finally put an end to their lukewarm relationship. His inconsiderate nature finally did her in. After an incident at the office with Jacob, her friend and boss, Skye is seeing Jacob in a new light,. A light she now wants to be part of and one she can't believe she never saw shining right in her face. There's a ridiculous bro code from when there were all teenagers standing in her way. One, that if Skye has her way, will cease to exist.

I loved Jacob and Skye's story. It's one filled with regrets but one each character is mature enough now to see. Jacob knows he needs to stay away from Skye due to the agreement between himself and his best friends, Owen and Lincoln. Working along next to Skye and seeing her five days a week at work will have to satisfy him. The author delivers a compelling romance that is filled with ups and downs. The conflict in the story is heart-wrenching and every person's nightmare, especially for women. The author was delicate and considerate in writing everything in this book.

I was drawn into this story 100%. The characters are dynamic and three dimensional. They have feelings, emotions, imperfections, and realistic qualities. I felt for Jay as he watched the love of his life live her life with him in the friendzone. I felt for Skye after her feelings for Jay became apparent and he became standoffish. Full disclosure - I did not like Owen's character. He definitely doesn't know how to take no for an answer and is all about himself. He plays his part well and I can't wait to read his story because you know it's going to be good.

This is my first book by VH Nicolson. I could kick myself for not finding VH sooner and grabbing up Lincoln's book. He is also in this book and now I need to know his story. A mistake that I just remedied by purchasing a copy of Lincoln.

I loved Jacob and Skye's story and can't wait to read more by VH Nicolson.
