SK does it again! This was so good. Spicy, sexy, smutty and the story really grips you can does not let you go. King and Isobel are a couple to not be trifled with. Buckle up for this rollercoaster! The drama!!!! The spice!!! It really has everything you want and so much more! I am so glad this is a series! I can’t wait to continue it!

Iv read a couple of SK’s books and they are just getting better and better !! I loved reading about Isabel and king and their story !!! Isabel is the only one to call him king and he will make sure of that !! Loved the dynamic between the two of them and watching their relationship change and grow throughout the book.
If you want a book with love, lust, scandal, and full of action this is your book!! I couldn’t put the book down it had me hook sence the beginning!! The way she builds the character onto get to know them and can see them !! I hight recommend this book !!

⭐️ 🌟 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Wonderful! Perfect! It is a love story wrapped in a dark romance. Thrilling from beginning to end. The FMC has scrapped her way to the top. Outwardly she projects a strong, fierce woman in the corporate world of men who fear her. But this is false provado. The relationship she has, well, it is he!! on earth. He is a cruel, heartless snake who does not deserve her. Can I hate, want to incapacitate, hurt in the worst way imaginable this disgusting piece of trash?
🖤 Did I say dark romance? This is the best of the best! Does the FMC get her revenge? Read the book and find out! It is everything he deserves and so much more! Yup I was smiling like a Cheshire Cat!

Loved the build-up in this story. His obsession with her sucked me in from the beginning, and I adored the way he wanted to take care of her. The spice in this was top-tier, and the character's growth in their relationship was realistic. I love an FMC with fight in her, and how he would punish her sass.

The Heir is a great read it has some triggers so check make sure to check them out before reading but I loved it this was a well thought out story of a girl who is strong smart and willing to settle for safe until she witnesses a unforgivable act and she decides to end it with “safe” she has some life altering events that lead her to love and family which she really hasn’t had the male main character is a businessman who comes from wealth and some strange family traits he makes her his in a way you just don’t see coming this was a great read and I highly recommend it

This was my first S.K. Presley book and man did she deliver a great story!!! King and Isobel’s story was so much fun to read. This is an abduction romance, however it’s also so much more!!!! This was such a great read and I highly recommend checking this book out if you love dark romance.

This is one of those books that nailed the first half, but the ending/final conflict dropped my rating. It was going so well.
It went like this. The King dynasty has this tradition where, when they fell in love with someone, it is basically a requirement for them to kidnap that person and Stockholm syndrome them to fall in love with them back. Fucking nutcase of a plot right? But it damn work! I love the over-the-topness! A little suffocating maybe, to be on the receiving end of that attention, especially considering what happened in our girl's past, BUT, she damn well gave it back as hard as she can!
It was fun, to see the balls rolling back and forth between this couple.
Then, that final conflict happened. And my enjoyment just fizzled out. I don't like how the story wrapped up. I was hoping for a more internal conflict (you know, touching on his insane obsessiveness and her rigid sense of independence). I was more curious to see their character development in a sense, and how to make their relationship work out. But nope. It didn't go that way. It was more of an external conflict, a conflict that came out of nowhere (well, maybe not out of nowhere, it was hinted at, but I did not find it interesting at all, since I was more into the crazy abduction tradition). So, yeah. The ending could be better there.
Anyway, it was still an interesting plot. Pretty sure going to pick up the next book in the series. Now, I'm interested to see how that couple is going to go around the kidnapping route.

What a roller coaster of a story! To say King is unhinged would be an understatement and I love that knowing this did not stop Isobel from being fiesty as hell.
Their dynamic was perfection and their interactions had me laughing out loud on multiple occasions. Try as hard as she might, even Isobel can't deny how well they compliment each other.
The book was well written with plenty of action to keep you engaged and while it ended with a HEA, it did pave the way for the next book, which I cannot wait to read.

I wanna scream with joy! Holy moly. This was my first book from this author and I was blown away. This my new favorite book. Holy shiitake! I have never experienced a book hangover before, but omgoodness I think one is loading I laughed. I cried. I wailed. I groaned. Hell, I smacked my lips AND the mess outta my husband’s arm. I’m in love! New favorite author unlocked.
I read this in one day. I COULD NOT STOP. I want this in audio, hardcover, paperback, ALLOFEM! Take my money so I can read this over and over and over again.

I can’t remember when I read this arc only that it was in 2024 (I think). OR why it’s taken me so long to review this.
REGARDLESS
Onwards to the goodness. DO NOT HESITATE. Read this. Isobel is a feisty FMC who deserves the world, and King will give it to her. Whether she’s ready for it or not. But he’ll make sure her demons are well taken care of. Does it matter she’s “taken” ? no. She’ll be taken just like your heart will be taken by the end of this book. I can’t stop singing the praises of this couple. I’d happily join their family tradition if they’d let me.
This is an exciting, jaw droppingly funny, spicy dark romance book. It’s not super dark like some of this authors other works - but still dark. A good entry point into dark romance. It’s such a wild ride I had so much fun reading this I haven’t stopped comparing other books to this one. I identify emotionally so much with isobel it’s hilarious. I aspire to be as feisty as she is.

This was my first SK book and let me tell you I will be reading more! You have Isobel who is a strong, well rounded business woman who grew up very poor and had to do unspeakable things to survive. With the drama in her life she played it safe with her boyfriend Christoper until she finds out something’s she can’t forgive.
King who has an empire just happens to be wants his queen Isobel and will stop and nothing to have her including abducting her!
I loved Isobels strong redheaded temper and her character! And Kings touch her and die vibes. This was such a great book! It had a perfect amount of spice to plot some other a twists that turns. I need book 2 ASAP!

I thrive to be as strong and sassy as this mfc! She is loyal to a fault and comes with lots of baggage. Then there king to say he fell first was absolutely an understatement, more like beyond obsessed ! He has the money and power to make whatever he wants happen. When he wants there is telling him no! But will he change her entire life in the best ways or the worst ways possible ? You must read to find out , but I can you that she strongly deserves a lot in several aspects of life from the past and maybe the present but what will her future consist of?

It's the freaking last few chapters for me!! Don't get me wrong, the ENTIRE book is great but I didn't see what happened, happening!!! This book has a great balance of plot and smut for you smutty wh*res out there lmfao. Definitely recommended!!!

I enjoyed every second of this book. The story had my attention captured from the prologue all the way into the epilogue. Isobel is a talented fiery and fierce woman with attitude is a perfect match for Hendrix, a wonderfully arrogant and charming man. I love their chemistry and their relationship. I absolutely love that Hendrix took the time to learn things about her it shows how much he cares and loves her. I really enjoyed watching them develop into a power couple. They were really made for each other. I also love meeting their family ( the side characters ) it makes me want to know more about them. One of my favorite books of the year so far. 10 out of 10 definitely recommend you read this. Happy reading 📖

When I say SK knows her stuff, it’s an understatement! I ate up The Heir in just one day! King was oh sooo yummy. What made his character even better was how he evolved through the book and we got to not only see the spice, but how genuinely he loves our FMC! This is a must read!

Where do I start!!!! S.K. really does just know how to write an absolutely satisfying and complete piece of fiction that hits all the marks in the genre she writes in. I can not think of one thing about this book that didn't fully slap hard. Although this is the first book in what is going to be a very full series of character stories for the King Dynasty, you can feel how heavy the setup is already building just in book one!!
Izzy is such a strong and dominant FMC with the softest and sweetest undertones. I don't think I've ever read a lead female character that embraces her sides so well. She desperately wants to be soft and vulnerable, but the traumas of her life weigh heavily on her, and this poor angel just needs some peace. Her sassy and sharp side is put heavily in the forefront of her personality as a wall of protection that she leans on often in her life choices as a woman in her line of work trying to build a name for herself and secure a lifestyle that in no way reflects the stresses of her past for not only herself, but her mom and sister. Her character is such a strong example of a woman in control of so much of her own destiny, yet still begging for someone to take the reins for her so she can submit and get the rest she deserves without it being used against her.
Enters King.... lol. This man!!! What a perfect MMC! King has this vibe of your favorite dominant mafia type daddy, and he isn't even a Made Man! He's totally against that life style actually, as he's continuing to build his families empire as a big time architect and is not one to allow dirty dealings to flounder all that has been built in the King name for generations. His obsession with Izzy is so aggressively tender until it isn't. He works so hard to set up so much to take care of her how he knows she deserves, all while she's in a relationship with another man. A huge POS type of man, by the way. Chris makes my skin crawl. But Izzy is desperate to build a safe and secure life, and boring Chris caters to that narrative until... he makes some choices that ultimately set our story in its destined direction.
Kings' family practice of kidnapping their chosen life mates is such a creative choice in traditional family values, to say the least. But he's heavily committed and has been preparing for his snatch and grab of Izzy for a long time now, and when he has the moment to strike, he doesn't waste any of it. This book kicks off into wild territory once King gets his new queen to his compound. Izzy is such a wild cat, and I love it!!! So many of these women in dark romance style tropes just immediately fall into doing whatever their told and get googly heart eyes for the men that truly are doing unjust things to them. Even in the name of love and passion. They are unjust. And Izzy does not hesitate to remind King constantly and fights him tooth and nail the whole way. This is a relationship that takes time to build. Although Hendrix is sold in his devotion to Isobel, she takes time in convincing that her new life is a good thing for her. And rightly so. The absolute pure entertainment of this dynamic of these two trying to learn to coexist had me in all kinds of emotions. Including laughing hysterical at times. These two put each other through it, and I happily sat with my popcorn, watching them fight it out until the very end!!
S.K. is such an amazing writer of character dynamics. The back and forth is so addicting. The setup for every moment is pure perfection. Her dialog and inner monologs are some of my all-time favorites. She writes lines that absolutely slap the taste out of my mouth. Some of the things that this man says to Izzy had my jaw on the floor. King is a wild MMC in his tones. He is such a dominating force but in the most balanced ways. He knows what he wants and doesn't play in those areas, but he's also extremely patient in allowing Izzy so much room to navigate her own emotions and behaviors as she processes through them. Most of the time he allows her so much room, but when that man brings control to a situation or means business... holy smokes does his energy take the cake in panty dropping. This girl goes through an absolute rollercoaster of emotions trying to understand what is happening and the feelings she carries deep in her heart that she fights the entire time, and King's patience with her is so endearing. There is so much to unpack and heal in her soul before he can ever win her devotion, and he fights hard for it at every turn.. and kick lol.
Let's talk about the spice.... MY GOD THE SPICE!! I think S.K. is my all-time favorite spice writer. These scenes are so wildly intense and cathartic that it's insane!!!! Some women need domination through intimacy, and Izzy is one of them. Some women who so very much like to be dominant in proving their power over their own choices and being taken serious, need heavily to be taken to church in the bedroom before they will allow the power to be taken from them to give them the ultimate power back through submission and the care that provides fully by the one they hand it to. King picks up on that pretty fast and realizes that the way to this girls mind and heart is through her body, and the sessions they get into are so... omg you just have to read them. King is the man. Full stop, lol.
This plotline is amazing and entertaining as we enjoy the absolute wild ride of these two, but I was not prepared for the absolute drop out of a plot twist around 80%. Like most S.K. books, you get slapped out of nowhere with a change of direction you never see coming, and I was gutted! I couldn't believe it. I had to go back and make sure I hadn't missed something. I was so taken out of my absolute comfort zone of my story and thrust into absolute shock... I LOVED IT!!!!! This story went from an absolutely mouth-watering dark romance, kidnapper trope to full-on action and stress and anxiety full force with a dramatic twist of dark pasts coming to claim souls!!
Overall, this story was heavily addicting. These characters are amazing. The family dynasty situation that is just starting in this first book has me in a total chokehold and Mason King.. I need more Mason King energy, that's for sure.

This book has everything you want in a dark romance and more! King and Isobel will take you on a wild ride that grips you and just won’t let you go! If you love a MMC that’s the “I will burn the world for you” morally grey type then King is definitely your man along with a strong willed FMC, Isobel, who has a good bit of brat in her. This is my first S.K. Presley book and I’m absolutely hooked and will be reading the rest of her books asap! Her voice as an author, her pacing, and her story telling is perfection! I highly recommend The Heir, happy reading!

Phenomenal!! Every detail in this book is placed perfectly. The vibe and atmosphere of the book are portrayed perfectly and with great detail. It was so easy to picture the characters and their mannerisms. I love that this book went outside the norms of “stereotypical characters” and went diverse and realistic. I loved how fierce Isobel is, how strong she is even with the traumatic past she had, and the ordeals she had to go through to get her HEA. King is Headstrong right out of the gate, but his love for Isobel really has no holds!! He loves her with a fierceness that can come across as morally black/psychotic but it works perfectly for his and Isobel’s dynamic and story. The banter between the two characters was perfect for such a fiery couple and when Isobel loses her cool and becomes a “demon” I couldn’t stop from laughing ever time because it’s so perfect. This book had me laughing, crying and grinding my teeth all throughout the book but I was so glad they were able to come out on top at the end.

What a ride! I was hooked from the beginning when King first showed how much he cared for Isobel. Who doesn’t want a man who takes care of you when you’re sick? He had the “touch her and die” energy that makes us swoon but a vulnerability when it came to her that endeared his character even more.
And what a strong FMC! Isobel is FIERCE and we love her for it. She’s real and authentic and determined, no damsel in distress here. She just needed King to remind her how worthy she was.
My favorite part of their dynamic was the way Isobel’s ethnicity was honored and spoken of freely. As a mom of biracial children it made my heart happy to see that King took time to learn about what her hair and skin needed, too often this is t highlighted and I loved that it was just seamless.
This book is not for the faint of heart, their love is raw and they go through a lot but it’s definitely worth it. (That ending…the devil deserved it)

i’m a sucker for the “he falls first” trope as well as “touch her and d!e” and this was both of those wrapped together.

I dont write many reviews. I read over 100 books a year and I love reading. Many books are good. There aren't many books that I don't enjoy that I read but every now and then there are books that I love.
This is a book that I love. It started out strong and just kept going.... chapter after chapter. I was hooked. I did not want to stop reading.
I even read on lunch break at work. I was hooked on this story.
This book grabbed my emotions and put me through it all. I am so invested in this world. I want a book two of the king family, this one with Mason and (unnamed to not ruin that surprise).
I am in love with this book and this world and the King family.
This book is a must read and the spicy is hot hot hot.

Where to start with this review without giving to much away..if you like fifty shades of grey this is even better with a dreamy billionare MMC that will have you drooling total golden retriever energy but like touch my women and you'll pay but also values hard work. The MFC is feisty, witty, and over all a firecracker and is a self made Business women with a tough past.This book has everything you could want and MORE. Between the incredible spice, witty banter, and twist and turns of this book you will DEVOUR it with ease. Do yourself a huge favor READ THIS BOOK RIGHT NOW YOU WONT REGRET IT.

This book was full of action without being over done. It was amazing. You follow Isobel and Hendrix. Isobel is the only one allowed to call him King and he makes sure it stays that way. He is protective, smart, rich and an alphahole. If you want a book with love, lust, scandal, and more this is your book. I'd like to see Mason get a book of his own because that book will be just as amazing as this one was.

I mean who doesn’t love an obsessive MMC! Not only that but Isobel the FMC is such a sassy queen! The way the dynamic of this couple progresses throughout is outstanding! I highly recommend this book!

Representation Matters
It is so cool to read a Dark Romance written by an author of color featuring main characters of color. I only know of two, I think. A reader would normally be forced to purchase Urban Romance or Romantic Street Lit to get these kind of dark love stories. Author did a great job! Cover is beautiful too! Be sure to check it out!

Dnf. I don't buy the premise. A mixed race woman works that hard to go from nothing to owning her own business and then she just rolls with being kidnapped and forced into marriage? No. She's getting out of there.

The Heir is a great story about one man who will do anything to make her his Queen.
Isobel: a fiercely independent woman who vows to have a better life than the one she was raised in. She is a self-made woman climbing the career ladder when she decides to settle for a “safe” life with a man she honestly has zero chemistry with.
Hendrix: heir to the King Dynasty, he has power, prestige, money, and influence. The only thing missing is his Queen. To have her he must follow the family tradition, and the family tradition requires force.
Presley did a fantastic job with The Heir; I was kept engaged and found it difficult to put this book down. I was not a huge fan of Hendrix in the beginning, but he won my heart eventually. Isobel was very well written; she isn’t your typical damsel or FMC with a chip on her shoulder that makes her unlikeable. She was truly a self-made woman who went from eating dried ramen to owning her own company and kicking ass at her job. I didn’t blame her for wanting a safe life. Even with a hot billionaire offering her the world, she chose to stay loyal. That says a lot about a person.
Overall, I give The Heir 4.9 stars. The last 20% of the book goes REALLY fast. I don’t feel like what happens was necessary to the storyline. (I could be wrong and see more in book 2) The book could have wrapped up perfectly without adding in that event. I am not saying I didn’t enjoy it, I just wish there could have been more time spent on that part of he story. Like, if it could have happened at 60% in, instead of trying to introduce a new event and wrap it up it under 100 pages.
