Sisters will clash, and only one will prevail.

Akuhara has unleashed the Drakka upon the imperial city, determined to crush the empire and carve out a kingdom of her own from the ashes.

Armed with elemental powers, the Heart of Flame, and a dragon skin cloak capable of crossing realms, Kai must rally her allies and stand against the onslaught.

As the final battle looms, will Kai’s strength be enough to save the empire, or has its end already been written in fire and blood?

3.5 STARS, rounded up to 4 STARS. There was more magic, more fighting, and a sister-vs-sister final battle that — though a smidge predictable — was very captivating. I really liked the addition of a dual POV, alternating every so often between Kai and Akuhara. I also appreciated that there was more to the story than just “battle done, end of book” but I would have loved to see the after effects of Kai’s efforts to rebuild what was lost during the war.

Definitely would recommend as an audiobook, the narrator did a good job differentiating between characters. Initially, I had planned for this series to be solely for my commute to/from work, but I ended up listening to it whenever I had time because I wanted to know what was going to happen next! Overall, a great short series.

Very good

I am only disappointed in that the end was kind of unfinished for me. The story is amazing, but just left me feeling like there should have been an epilogue showing the temple restored and riders training.

A very solid 4* series, enjoyed every novella equally. I kind of hoped for a redemption arc, but the ending of the series still works well enough
