I have to stop reading this kind of book expecting academic rigour and just accept them for what they are. Some of the rituals and ideas are cool but I find it hard to get past some of the confident sweeping statements the author makes about ancient Celtic societies about which little to no written record survives. I’m not saying she’s wrong, I’m just saying that I would find it a lot more compelling if it any of the statements were sourced.

A good and short read that introduced me to the Celts. I enjoyed learning about the deities and folklores a lot. I wish there were more that was written as I really wanted to educate myself about Celtic Paganism, but I guess this isn’t *that* kind of book as the other reviewer has mentioned. Nonetheless, I still got to learn about stuff, and as someone who had zero knowledge about anything Celtic I think that’s quite nice.

Another light coffee table book. Lovely illustrations. Very surface level introduction to Celtic beliefs. Some interesting tattoo ideas in the form of the celtic symbols shown in the book. I bought this book, but on reflection, I could have just got it on loan from the library. Very quick read.
