I liked this book because it was more focused more on the locations than the ghosts. The author chose lesser known locations across North America and provides a history of the location before describing its ghostly legends. There's no first hand accounts though so if you're looking for that you won't find it in here. Instead the author just tells you about the ghost story and things that people have supposedly experienced the most.

Yes, I totally checked this out to look at the 7 Ohio locations featured. I liked that the author spotlights lesser known locations.

Restricting itself to doing pretty much what you'd expect, this seems to do it well. You'd need an expert to state whether or not the seventy-odd locales here are actually among the lesser-known spooky sites across North America, but either way we get a description of where they are, what the buildings served for and what remnants etc might be there today (or should I say, tonight). We get some tips regarding bonus nearby hauntings, but nothing to spill the entries over the strict one- or two-page limit. Illustrations where included are atmospheric – fallen leaves or snow peppering the sites; abandoned houses with their doors ajar and windows black, bar perhaps an unexpected silhouette in grey. A small data box for each place tells us if they're open to the public visit or stay, among other things, so this could well inspire a few trips to the darkness. It certainly has been done pretty competently, leaving the lack of photos – and of perhaps the spookier oomph of the more justifiably famous sites – the only potential issues.

I think I just wanted more.

While I enjoyed the illustrations and appreciated the author choosing to highlight lesser known hauntings instead of the same few popular ones that are in every haunted book I thought there could have been more writing as far as the sightings and spooky things that happened instead of getting just a few paragraphs that dealt more with the history of the buildings instead of the hauntings.

I found this book to be very interesting. It was really nice getting to read about haunted places in the U.S. that aren't as commonly heard about. I even got to learn about some in my state that I never heard about before. It gives you enough information about each place to give you the story but it's also written in a way that you want to look up more information into the haunted location. If you are into paranormal stories then you should definitely check this book out!

Short snippets on different locations that are considered haunted around the world. Very interesting, and engaging enough to keep one reading.

I enjoyed the little tidbits. There is enough there to jump start some research for those that are interested in the locations.

Confused on why their aren't any photographs of the places, just random drawings. The paper also makes the book hard to read. I'll stick with the Instagram account.
