I listened to the audiobook version and this book would definitely be something I will look to buy in print. There is a great amount information that I could see myself wanting to re-read over and over again. I appreciated all the medical research and statistics that were included, many details that I hadn't known before reading this. The connections that were made to biblical verses was interesting and really makes you think about your own choices and how they do or don't align with the kind of lifestyle and mindset that is best for you. The only concerns I had was that some of the suggested food options and supplements could be costly for someone on a tight budget, however overall it doesn't seem like a strict diet fad, it seems like you can take all the valuable information given and choose to make some healthy changes at your own pace and within your budget needs.
**I received an advanced copy from the publisher via NetGalley with the understanding that I would provide an honest review.
Wow, I cannot suggest this book enough! I was given the privilege of reading it prior to its release date under the stipulation that I would give it my honest review, so here goes.
I have read many health and nutrition books as these topics are a great passion of mine, so when I was given the opportunity to read this one prior to release, I jumped at it. And it did not disappoint.
The authors clearly stated the reasoning for their suggestions, pairing their own life experiences of illness and healing, making it so relatable. The fact that the whole purpose of this book was also to do these things God’s way was just the icing on the cake. There were so many references to the people and lifestyles of the Bible and each one included biblical references and verses to back it up. It almost felt like I was also doing a deeper dive into the Bible all the while getting practical applications for my everyday life. How cool is that!?
The book wraps up by giving you a practical 7-day eating plan and includes recipes and a shopping list for an easy fool-proof way to get you started. Who doesn’t want a step-by-step set of instructions for how to actually apply the guidelines set forth in the book?
And finally, there are tons of scientific evidence sources cited in the back so you can refer to all of the research referenced throughout the book.
I will be purchasing my own copy, probably highlighting half of the book as I reread, and will definitely be referring others to this book when they ask for my advice!
Thank you to Worthy Publishing for allowing me to read an advanced copy, and to NetGalley for providing the platform.
This was a great book. I read it as a preview from the publishing company which I was so excited to participate in. This book was so interesting. I learned so much from reading this book....so much so that I am going to purchase my own copy to reference to and re-read. It contained lots of Scripture relevance to our foods....in particular foods of the earth....like that isn't chemically enhanced or processed. Like potatoes get a bad wrap all the time and I never understood that because they are from the ground....but this book reinforces how the potato isn't bad....it's what we add to the potatoes to make them bad. There's also a section about fasting which was interesting. I learned a great deal about that too and am trying to do the 12/12 fast. I have done this for 3 days now. It's a start...right...gotta start some place. The book also contained a grocery list for the Biblio diet and recipes to try that follow along with the Biblio diet. The cancer fighting components in this book are mind blowing too. Just a great great book.
Love!! Couldn’t recommend enough. Wish I read it a long time ago. Realized everything I’ve been eating is poison 🤢🪦. No but in a more serious note so cool how God designed our bodies to heal themselves if we just allow it to happen!!! WOW
*Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the free copy*
Initially, as I was reading, I was veering towards marking this book at 3 stars. Much of the advice are things that you can find in many health and fitness books: Eat fresh and organic foods, avoid pre-made foods that are overloaded with salt/sugar/oil, have more veggies, etc. However, some of the advice ranges from benign but untruthful to dangerously misleading.
For instance, recommending Celtic salt isn’t the end of the world. While boasting its trace minerals, however insignificant nutritionally compared to other sea salts, it’s not harmful in the slightest to ingest. Recommending raw milk, on the other hand, offers far more risks. Just because people did so thousands of years ago does not make it safe.
I’m also bothered by the recommendation of making a health tonic out of tree leaves as a form of cancer treatment. I understand that the book has made multiple disclaimers to refer to a doctor, but when the authors go so far as to mention that they’re even skeptical of taking antibiotics for an extreme infection, I can’t help but feel as though the disclaimers read more like ‘Well, of course you should refer to a doctor… *wink wink*’
I personally believe that taking care of one’s own body in a healthy, mindful way can be an important part of someone’s spiritual path. I’m also someone who sooner makes a cup of tea over taking a cold pill when sick. That said, I find it disturbing when people make claims of miraculous recovery because of their juice/supplement/*product*. I’m reminded of countless other people who made the same anecdotal claims, only to get sicker or even die because of the strong rejection of medical support.
This is the kind of book that deserves to be highlighted, consumed and cherished for generations to come.
I appreciate the insights provided regarding dietary choices and their biblical foundations, delivered in a respectful manner that avoids shame or guilt. The book frequently offered surprising and enlightening information. The authors address sensitive topics directly, providing well-explained perspectives and biblical references, which I found refreshing as an avid reader of health and wellness.
*The biblical perspective on fasting—reminding us to lean on God rather than food to nourish our souls and strength. As Josh passionately states, “I’m reminded that I am weak and I need God,” echoing a truth that stirs the very core of my faith and my health.
*Deep dives into subjects seldom explored—raw milk, electrolytes, essential oils, salt, leaves of trees and the difference between grass-fed and pasture-raised meats…. In addition to many more.
Oh, how I wish I could visit Josh and Jordan’s Tennessee farm! To wander through Jordan’s lush greenhouse! I want to taste all the leaves—every one! The passion, the authenticity, it’s contagious.
The Biblio Diet is thoughtfully written and easy to understand. Having read all of Dr. Josh Axe’s publications, I look forward to now reading Jordan’s The Makers Diet.
Thank you to Worthy Publishing for providing the incredible gift of an advanced copy. I am so grateful!
This is a game changer. Making my entire family read this and going to clean out the fridge. This book is everything I’ve wanted to know about so many health things, and it’s all condensed into one book thankfully.
I was just reading Deuteronomy and had to come back and add to my review! Deuteronomy 20:19 also supports the authors’ conclusion (primarily based on Ezekiel 47:12 and Rev. 22:2) that the leaves of fruit trees heal and sustain life aka heal cancer etc. God tells the Israelites that when they go into Canaan and war against the heathenistic people there, that all was to be destroyed EXCEPT the fruit trees because they could eat from the fruit trees (aka the trees which bear meat). A specific command was given to not cut down the fruit trees…this is not a coincidence! God is NOT random. Rather, God is in the details!
“For the tree of the field is man’s life” Dt. 20:19 *specifically referring to the fruit tree!

Jesus tells us that he’s the Bread of Life. I just never stopped to realize before that His bread isn’t anything like the overly processed loaf of disease-causing refined white sugar and flour we devour every day!
In all my years dabbling in diets I can honestly say I’ve never once considered taking a Biblical approach to health & weight-loss. Seemed to me like Jenny Craig and Dr. Atkins were the experts on getting skinny, not God!
I’ve been on one kind of diet or another for 3/4 of my life! From the time I was 10 years old, I willingly jumped on any bandwagon that promised thin was within my grasp…but it rarely ever was. Low carb, low calorie, no fat, no sugar & no fun - been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
The Biblio Diet presented an extremely unique approach to this topic. Packed with scientific research and personal testimony, it’s a whole new take on your typical “diet book.” No get-thin-quick schemes here, just simple, straightforward ideas rooted in God’s design for humankind.
Like Dave Ramsey’s Christian financial advice is simple but NOT easy, so are the concepts presented in The Biblio Diet.
A good read for anyone who has done every diet under the sun but hasn’t given up yet!
This book is SO GOOD. I got the audiobook version first (loved the narration) and about 1/4 of the way in, I ordered the hardcover. It’s truly packed with good, useful information. It obviously does have religious references so if you can look past those (if you aren’t religious) then definitely get this book. The information is REALLY GOOD. I cannot stress this enough. I’m a God-loving girly so it was really neat seeing them connect the food to verses in the Bible and furthermore, explain scientifically why these foods are good for our bodies. The authors (Jordan and Josh) share their personal testimonies too on how food healed them and honestly, it was very inspiring.
This was just the push I was needing to get back on track. As a Christian I believe that the Bible is not only the living word of God but also a cheat sheet for living a healthier and happier life. This audiobook helps navigate its listener through a healthy lifestyle that is backed by science as well as scripture. I found this audiobook to be encouraging, straightforward and very easy to follow. Highly recommend to anyone looking to optimize their health and wellness.
If you’re looking for your first step into clean eating or you’re ready to “level up” the clean eating you’ve been doing for years, this is for you. Loved the deep dive into the various areas of nutrition, facts, scriptural references and personal stories shared. This is one I want a hard copy of to highlight, book-ear and revisit time and time again. The Ancient diet, exercise and mindfulness wisdom has much depth but feels simple to begin applying one step at a time.
I have read books by both Rubin and Axe and have enjoyed them. They are both natural health advocates and this book is "a dietary guide to the way God intended us to eat and live--flourishing". The majority of this book consists of chapters on what types of foods to eat and not eat. They also have a chapter with a seven day eating plan and some recipes. Other chapters are about the related lifestyle aspects including essential oils, herbs, mindset and exercise. As a certified holistic nutritionist, I agree with the vast majority of their recommendations. They recommend a whole-foods diet, eliminating highly processed foods and incorporating fasting. As the title implies, this book is based not only on modern science but also on principles they have found in the Bible. As a Christian myself, this was in concert with my own faith, but might be off-putting for non-Christians. They recommend following the Old Testament laws given to the ancient Jews of abstaining from pork and shellfish. They give health reasons for this, but I am not convinced. I still enjoy locally caught shrimp and oysters as well as some pork on occasion. In my opinion as a nutritionist, avoiding these foods is not necessary for a healthy diet. This book is great as a succinct overview of what constitutes a healthy diet and lifestyle. I received an advanced copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
This book was full of information! I’ve read many, many Christian weight loss books before and none of them have been like this. This one is different in that it gives you a list of spices, for example, that have healing and healthy properties, but it doesn’t stop there. These guys dig deeper and tell you why. They give you the reference in the Bible as well as the scientific explanation. I thought it was fascinating about the healing leaves, never in my life would I have thought to drink fruit tree leaves. Or the shapes of the fruits/vegetables being for certain things, such as carrots resemble eyes when sliced or grapes look like the little things in our lungs. This book has opened my eyes to a whole new way of looking at what I put into my body. I like that there are recipes in the back with an eating plan, and they give you a website to visit. I’m hoping the website will be live once the book is published.
Really the only criticism I have is that I can’t always afford organic or raw honey, or whatever the item is, I know it’s best. My flesh is willing but my wallet cannot, haha! It was a little disheartening because it felt that was the only way they wanted you to consume foods, which I understand why, but it does encourage me to choose better foods to ingest. I would love to have this book physically so that I can highlight, make notes, and mark it for quick reference.
The Biblio Diet is a staple for Christians looking to live a healthier life through God's provisions. I gave this book my highest of ratings, a 5 out of 5 stars due to the narration and writing. This book was excellently narrated with an amazing pace and tone to keep the readers focused. The information in the book was very well explained and you can really see the effort these authors went through to maintain an understanding across all forms of listeners and readers.
During your time with this book, you will learn about fasting, how diseases start and how to prevent them, anything and everything about plants and how they are the ultimate medicine, exercise, the power of prayer, and so much more. Sit down with a notebook and pen, you will want to take notes! There are many testaments of God's miracles throughout in accordance to the method of healing they are explaining that is simply awe inspiring.
I highly enjoyed this and cannot wait to read more by both of these authors! Thank you so much to Hachette Audio and Worthy books for the opportunity to listen and review this advanced audiobook. All opinions are my own.
✨Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book to give my honest review. ✨
Very rich with information. I have learned so much about foods, herbs, plants, oils etc. and feel quite confident in what I would like to eat now, and how I can use natural sources as medicine. I’m quite picky with my 5 Star reviews, so this is why it isn’t a full 5 stars. There were a couple of things I did not love (e.g. using certain scripture like “by your wounds we are healed” where people in the word-of-faith movement use as LITERAL healing, which is not what this verse is meant for).
All in all, it was very educational and I find it super useful for being mindful on how I shop for food from now on.
I have always been fascinated by the idea of eating naturally, locally, and organically, having grown up in a country setting and on a farm, so this book sounded right up my alley. I hadn’t read anything by these authors before, as I usually stay away from American books on diet and nutrition—not because they’re necessarily bad, but because they often rely on fear-inducing language, making people feel they must do something or else they’ll get this illness or that illness. I really don’t like that kind of writing, and unfortunately, this book falls into that category at times.
It’s also important to note that some of the foods the author recommends (such as certain fruit leaves, etc.) are not easily available in the Western world, let alone in more remote places. Mango leaves, for example—I haven’t even looked into how safe they are to use, so I can’t comment on that—as well as certain types of mushrooms, are not accessible to everyone. If you live in North America, you’re far more likely to be able to purchase some of the foods he suggests, such as bison meat or A2 milk.
Some of the claims made about certain foods and even essential oils also feel a bit stretched. I would strongly suggest that if you want to try his recommendations—especially those involving tree leaves or ingesting essential oils (only some of which are food-grade)—you do your own research first. I grew up drinking tea made from certain tree leaves, so I know he’s onto something there. However, when it comes to the way he presents the healing of serious conditions, I think it’s still too early to make such definitive claims.
Would I recommend this book? Yes—but with caveats. If you’re someone who does your own research and doesn’t take everything at face value simply because it’s written by a holistic practitioner, then yes, this book can be worthwhile. The last part of the book, however, leaves something to be desired. The emphasis on visualising your own healing and using Bible verses to declare healing is problematic for me, especially since some of the verses are taken out of context. If you’re someone who doesn’t care much about biblical context and is comfortable declaring healing and commanding sickness to go away based on verses like Isaiah 53:5, you’ll probably be fine with it. I wasn’t.
Now for the good stuff—because there is a lot of good stuff in this book. I appreciated the strong focus on natural medicine, eating locally and organically (even though not everything he recommends is truly local, and not everyone can live on a farm growing their own trees like one of the authors does), and the rejection of low-fat nonsense, which I also don’t believe in. I liked that the author acknowledges eating the way Jews traditionally do—avoiding shellfish, pork, etc.—something surprisingly few Christians pay attention to. He also touches on exercise and its benefits (albeit briefly) and discusses the importance of mindset when it comes to health, which adds a sense of balance.
Overall, I’m giving this book 4 stars. It’s more good than bad, but some of the advice could be risky if followed without additional research and discernment. If you read it thoughtfully, take what’s helpful, and question what feels exaggerated, it can be a valuable read.

In My Own Words: A motivational guidebook on how to eat with mindfulness and intent
About the Audiobook: This non-fiction work was narrated by Jordan Rubin. I liked hearing his voice during the presentation of material; it made the listening experience more personal. This was especially impactful when listening to the vignettes from both his and Joshua Axe's lives.
My Favorites (coded):
- The Importance of Fasting - The History of the Food Industry - The When of Eating - The Sinister 6 - Good versus Garbage - 10 Days - The History of Not So Good Oils - Radical Forgiveness - Food Integrity - Addressing Inflammation
My Final Say: The Biblio Diet is an incredible tool that provides helpful information, inspirational messaging, and a rich well of practical content. It is the type of book that readers can hit the ground running with and move towards improved health and wellness wealth.
Even though I was familiar with many of the presented concepts, the material at large was still beneficial. Not only did this book invite me to dig into research about the history of foods, consumer marketing patterns, and food industry behaviors , but it also steered me toward looking more deeply at the internal and external agents that contribute to non-healthy habits.
I loved the examples and suggested tips that were incorporated. Each chapter was golden, in my opinion.
The listening experience was a good one, but I definitely plan to secure a hard copy of this new work. I can easily see myself referring to it often.
Other: I believe The Biblio Diet will help many people who are open to hearing what it is saying.
Rating: 5/5 Recommend: Yes Audience: G Keeper: Yes Favorites Shelf: Yes Status/Level: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Note: This would be a wonderful gift for any occasion.
Sincere appreciation is extended to the author, to the publisher (Hachette Audio | Worthy Books), and to NetGalley. Thank you so very much for granting access to an ALC of this title in exchange for an honest critique. I absolutely enjoyed the experience. I cannot wait to add a copy of this work to my wellness lifestyle shelf.
In The Bibio Diet, Jordan Rubin and Dr. Josh Axe have created a new Biblio theme diet to help readers obtain their best health. This book is written by a team of two top nutrition experts. In the book, Jordan shared how he battled Crohn’s disease starting in his late teens. He also got the worst news 15 years later that he had an incurable cancer. He was 32 years old and he just had launched a new book and a television show. He had pain coming from a hernia near his groin. He was healthy and in shape. The doctors suggested that he try a conventional treatment or he could die within 3 months. He decided to rely on God and he gave God 40 days to heal him. He took a radical diet and detoxification route. He forgave people and asked for forgiveness. They did three different blood tests and everything came back zero and the CT scan showed he was cancer free. He looked at what Biblical people ate and he helped discover the Biblio diet. He would eat only what God created and eat only food in the form that is healthy for our bodies. He enclosed a whole list of food that we can consume to be healthier. In the book, Josh shared how his mother had stage 4 breast cancer and it had spread to her lymph nodes. She was health and a swim instructor and gym teacher. He was in the 8th grade. After she was declared cancer free. This led him to want to study nutrition. The cancer did return 10 years later and he came across one of Jordan’s books. They tried some of Josh’s suggestions on cleansing her system and eventually her tumor shrunk and she became cancer free.
In the book, he also discussed how he almost died in 2022. He tried a stem cell injection treatment to fix a back injury He suffered from an issue that caused him to become bedridden. It was discovered that he had a spinal infection that was eating away at his bones. They thought he would be disabled or could even die from this. He opened up about his approach to activate a healing mindset and the action plan he lived out.
I would recommend this life changing book to anyone who is ready to change their diet and wants to improve their overall health. The book contained recipes to try and a 7-day starter program. They discussed healing leaves and essential oils. They explored working out and different exercises to try. The book was very insightful and powerful in exploring the ways we can use this diet to improve our lifestyles. It definably led me to want to try the program and to see what changes my body felt and experienced.
Biblical nutrition backed by science; Jordan and Dr. Josh bring the heart of the Father into this insightful book. The Biblio Diet is not a "diet", it's a lifestyle.
It's difficult navigating nutrition in the western world. We have access to all the nutrition information and science we could imagine. Yet, when we walk into the grocery store, we are met with aisles upon aisles loaded with ultra processed "food" marketed as "healthy". While I mostly make meals at home from scratch, focusing on a good balance of protein, veggies and carbs, I still found myself buying things to eat between meals like CheeseItz and sugary cereal, thinking, "surely a little isn't so bad".
Now that I'm 25 and a mom to my first, I started thinking about how I eat more seriously. I don't have any major health concerns as of now. However, since being an adult, I've struggled with frequent fatigue and even developed a dlfew unique food intolerances (like chicken!). But holding my baby girl, I want better for her than what I ate growing up; and I want that for myself too!
This book taught me just how bad these ultra processed foods are, why it's so important to take care of our bodies, and how to do that effectively. They don't use fear mongering to convince you of their perspective, but present the facts as they are alongside testimonials from them and others. They meet people at every stage in their journey, suggesting options for those who maybe can't get the best choice, whether due to regionality or financial restraint.
After reading this, I'm more determined than ever to make a change in how my family eats for God's glory. It will take some work, but with God all things are possible!
Actually very interesting and most of the concepts I can get behind. However I will also put faith into Western medicine as while traditional medicine can help it cannot cure all ailments. I do think there is a lot of validity in how our food we eat today is filled with chemicals that disrupt our natural bodies and eating clean food is best. As my family are dairy farmers I can say they have lots to say about pasteurized vs raw milk, definitely do your own research before switching and get from reliable sources. I love seafood but it does make sense that some of nature's bottom feeders are not the most nutritionally dense beings. The animals that have multiple stomachs are the ones we should be eating makes a lot of sense and finding the grass fed not feed lot animals will be the most beneficial. Very fortunate to live with a hunter so most of our meat is venison and fish we catch. While we love pork and bacon I can also see why they are not the cleanest animals to eat. I do think the FDA needs to do more education on what is contained in our foods and the impact these foods have on our bodies. The government should also provide more funding for regenerative organic farming as it will ease some of the burden on healthcare. Having some of the diseases talked about in the book I know doing a lot of my own deep dives that these concepts are correct. I fully believe in the power of eggs as we nerd out continuously as our yolks are dark and nutrient dense. Homesteading is the best way to ensure you know how your food was grown and cultivated.
This book was amazing. I love that there are so many little nuggets of health tips scattered throughout the Bible. From Isaiah applying a fig leaf mixture on King Hezekiah along with a repentant heart and he was healed instantly to king Solomon being the wisest man on the earth in 1 Kings 4: 22-23 he provided his household the finest flours to make homemade bread and eat different pasture raised animals. My favorite verse I discovered is in Psalm 104:14 “grass were given for the cattle and herbs were given for the service of man”. We ought to talk about this stuff more in church culture it is a shame how many people will live sick when they don’t have to and Jesus wants us to be healed! Matthew 8:17 says Jesus bore our diseases on the cross. Seek the one who can bring true healing!! Ezekiel 47:12 talks of a prophetic time when we will live in the Millennial kingdom or 1,000 year reign and it says the leaves of fruit trees will be given to heal the nations. How cool is that! Or how about the Hyssop plant that was used to paint the blood of a lamb on the Israelites door frame to let the angle of death Passover their house and when Jesus says on the cross “I’m thirsty” they lifted up a hyssop with a sponge and touched his lips. In Psalm 51:7 David says “cleanse me with thy Hyssop”. Hyssop is modern day oregano plant and was known to “purify” or “pull out impurities”. Common now! I could keep sharing verses I found amazing but I’ll leave it here.
The Biblio Diet: Live Long, Master Metabolism, Reduce Pain, Fight Depression, and Conquer Cancer with Healing Secrets from the Bible is written by Jordan Rubin and Josh Axe. This is an information filled book that is Bible based and provides the reader with valuable information on the different types of food and their benefits. The book contains a 7 day menu as well as a shopping list.
This is an interesting book that is filled with so much information. There is so much information in this book I found myself reading only short amounts at a time and then re-reading to get more information. I appreciate the intense research the authors have done and how they have given this information in an easy to read form. I appreciate how the authors suggest simple changes to begin with such as shorter fasting. I also appreciate the wealth of information regarding the different foods we eat and alternate choice that would be better.
While the information is so good, many of the food listed are not able to be grown where I live, nor are they available. Adding some of the changed the authors suggest would be easy, to follow the whole diet will be impossible.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.
If you already have a strong understanding of healthy eating and exercise, you won’t find much new information here. The technical advice is generally well-known within the health and fitness community, and some concepts are frequently debated. What makes this book valuable, however, is how the authors contextualize it.
The book excels at connecting health advice to biblical principles and personal examples. The authors provide numerous biblical scriptures and background information to support the need for lifestyle change, and their own experiences serve as compelling proof of the diet’s positive impact.
The main reason this book earns four stars instead of five is due to consistency challenges. In some chapters, the authors make strong recommendations for specific changes that may conflict with common health advice using biblical scriptures and related stories as justification. At the end of the chapter when they summarize their points, they sometimes will 'scale back' the recommendation for people with health issues to match the common health advice.
Thank you to Worthy Publishing for early access to this book in exchange for my honest review.
I am not one who typically would read books on diets, but when I was contacted by the publisher with the offer of an advance reader’s copy in exchange for my honest review, I was intrigued. I am currently already on a journey to a more natural, non-toxic lifestyle, and this book is the guide that I needed to transform my eating habits.
The Biblio Diet is not a fad diet or trend but rather a lifestyle of good health based on taking full advantage of the natural, unaltered resources that God gave us at Creation. I believe that anyone and everyone could benefit from reading this book, but a person who does not believe in God or the Bible may not be able to appreciate its wisdom. The authors provide many scriptural references to support their advice, along with inspirational anecdotes on how following this diet has transformed their own health and others’.
I learned a lot from this book and will be returning to it often for reference, especially the sections on essential oils and herbs. It definitely motivated me to keep striving to make the changes necessary to live a more natural lifestyle.
Thank you to Worthy publishing and Netgalley for the digital copy of the book!
The Biblio Diet merges what is said in the Bible with science. That is something I can appreciate.
Some of the suggestions in the book made total sense. While we do have some convenience foods in our home, I've stuck to a more whole foods approach. Rubina and Axe take it further, mentioning foods that are best and those that should be minimized or avoided.
The one section that had me cringe was on essential oils. I love essential oils and use them often. But, I'm not going to put a few drops into water and down it. That spells recipe for disaster, according to several people with extensive training in the area. I'll stick to diffusing or diluting with oil for topical application.
However, I am good at taking some things and leaving others.
It did get me considering how much my family has started relying on more quick meals and that we could lean more heavily into some things we have in the house.
While I read cover to cover, this is a title that will most likely get referenced more than once to tweak my diet.
Thank you to NetGalley and Worthy Publishing | Worthy Books for the advance reader digital copy to review. All opinions are my own.
I would highly recommend this book for the dietary and general lifestyle recommendations. There are several interesting ties to Biblical references and some definitely felt a little more stretched than others. Over all I really appreciate the care and perspective taken with this book in regard to viewing health as a responsibility of believers to offer our bodies as living sacrifices to God (Romans 12:1-2).
My primary caution would be with Rubin’s prayer and the way that it is posed that health and well-being is Gods desire for all people. While I would agree that death and disease are unnatural (God didn’t create these but they are the result of the fall), we cannot fully escape the sin cursed world this side of eternity. God ultimately chooses to heal some and allow others to suffer until death because in each circumstance that will bring the best good for that individual and the most glory to God.
Overall I really do appreciate the principles to steward both our bodies and the earth for God and only hesitate on the side of phrasing things in such a way that may falsely guarantee a healing.
Another excellent book on health and nutrition! As described by its name, The Biblio Diet: Live Long, Master Metabolism, Reduce Pain, Fight Depression and Conquer Cancer With Healing Secrets From the Bible delivers holistic health information connected by biblical wisdom and modern science. This book is all about the integration of faith and healing with a large focus put on whole, natural foods as the major way to have a faith-centered approach to wellness. Combining biblical principles and scripture with health advice, The Biblio Diet provides a faith-based blueprint for healthy living through diet and exercise. I appreciated the practical guidance presented in The Biblio Diet including the clear direction on how to understand the ethics of "clean eating." Additionally, the personal testimonies shared in this book were hopeful, helpful, inspiring and motivating to change certain eating habits knowing that we have the power to overcome a variety of different illnesses and health challenges. All in all, I would recommend The Biblio Diet to anyone seeking a Bible-based way to improve overall well-being.
First, the organization was meh, and the title names were kitschy.
Second, they really used the term, "Multimineral bonanza."
Third, by the time I got to "green tea" I realized this book wasn't about what the Bible says about what to eat, but using the Bible to sell a book telling people what to eat. I mean, apparently "protein powder" is part of a Biblio diet.
I was hoping for a book I could give to devout Christian friends and family who still have, in the year 2026, canola oil in their pantry (and I may still), or a book that really delved into Scripture. While the passage on healing leaves was intriguing and I was impressed to learn that Jesus walked 20 miles a day over a 3 year period, I should probably take a break from the health and wellness books and read something on religion. Or parenting... There was not much here I haven't heard before. It would probably be better for someone unfamiliar with the Weston A. Price Foundation or the work of Dr. Cate Shanahan. I feel like I've read every work they referenced and heard every example they used already on a podcast.
