Healing the Wounds of Rejection: Moving Forward with Strength, Confidence, and the Ability to Trust Again

Rate this book
An intimate, vulnerable and, compassionate conversation about the pain of rejection, filled with practical, biblical guidance to heal and move on with personal stories from beloved Bible teacher Joyce Meyer, Ginger Stache, and dozens of other women who have risen from the ashes of loss.

No matter who you are, chances are you have been stung by the pain of rejection. As a child, you may have experienced bullying or even a parent or sibling who failed to acknowledge our value and love us as we needed to be loved. As we grow older, the rejections we experience pile upon one another—a boss who offers constant criticism, a spouse who walks away and leaves us devastated, a friend who ditches us when life gets tough.

Rejection is a common denominator of the human experience, and many of us develop into people who view the world through the lens of rejection as our pain causes us to burrow further into isolation, disappointment, and sadness. Here, through Joyce’s personal story of abuse and abandonment, and Ginger’s journey of shock and betrayal in marriage, you will find community in the fact that you are not alone, as well as hope for the dawning of new possibilities..

In this book, Joyce Meyer and Ginger Stache are determined to banish the stigma of rejection through leading readers to the healing balm of God’s unconditional love. Through facing our pain head-on, learning to embrace the truth of our absolute acceptance in Christ, and understanding how others may react to us and to the world out of their own lens of rejection, we can grow in confidence, develop healthy relationships, and find lasting acceptance.

This book also contains study questions with each chapter, perfect for group study or individual reflection.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book was incredibly impactful for me. I found myself getting emotional while reading because rejection is something I’ve experienced in different seasons of my life, and seeing it addressed so openly and biblically really hit home. The way Joyce Meyer and Ginger Stache talk about giving our hurt and pain to God and allowing Him to guide us through the emotions that come with rejection was extremely powerful and comforting.

What stood out most was realizing I’m not alone in these feelings. There were examples throughout the book that I could relate to both personally and indirectly and it helped me see my own experiences through a more grace filled lens. As someone who has given my life to Christ, I often struggle with how I should handle rejection and end up being hard on myself if I don’t respond in a “Christian” way. This book reminded me that I’m human, and that God is loving, patient, and forgiving as I continue to grow.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone on their faith walk who needs something they can come back to for hope, encouragement, and healing when dealing with rejection.

In Healing the Wounds of Rejection, Joyce Meyer has teamed up with her long time TV host and ministry assistant (her official title is chief creative officer), Ginger Stache to discuss the topic of rejection. The world around us is feeling lonely, invisible, betrayed by others, and they don’t know how to move forward from this pain. She wrote this book because God put it on her heart that the world is needing healing and freedom from the wounds of rejection. Scriptures declare how He can heal our wounds and our broken heart. God has created each of us in His own image and He greatly loves us. We are created for companionship. Even Jesus was rejected by many and He wasn’t always welcomed and at times I’m sure he felt lonely. He told his disciples to shake off the dust from their feet and move on to the next place when they faced being rejected in the town. They were called to preach the Gospel and not everyone would appreciate that. In the book, they touched on scriptures that proclaim the good things the Bible says about us. These enclosed, “accepted by God, God loves me unconditionally, God is with us, God gives me favor, and much more.

In the book, Joyce shared her story about how she was rejected. She covered at least five different areas in which she felt rejected. She dealt with her classmates not accepting her when she couldn’t afford a Halloween costume. She had to wear a cheap wolf mask and was referred to as the ugly wolf. The other girls were dressed up fancy and looked like princesses. Another rejection was by her own father. The rejection was caused the sexual abuse he did to her. He showed her pornography in elementary school and worked on grooming her. She constantly lived in fear on when he would cause her harm again. She was rejected as a child. She also was rejected by the church. She was told she wasn’t a good teacher and she didn’t have the proper education. She was also a woman. She chose to not to allow the rejections to stop her from going after her purpose.

Ginger discussed her rejection. She discovered that her husband of many years was secretly struggling with pornography. She noticed that he was angrier and she felt like something was bothering him. She discovered pornography being deliver in their mail box. They argued and later he broke down and confessed. He struggled with it since he was a young boy but he kept it from her for years. She explained how she was able to heal and to deal with the rejection and pain.

I would recommend this life changing book to anyone who is battling rejection and they are tired of being burden down by the pain. I really liked how they switch different authors throughout the chapters to keep it fresh and to get two different perspectives on the topic and experiences with rejections and how they healed. The teaching and lessons in this book will assist you in overcoming the roots of rejection. There is a special lean in closer section filled with questions to help readers to go even deeper into the material.

📈 Summary:

Healing the Wounds of Rejection is a heartfelt and faith-centered guide to overcoming the deep pain of rejection. Joyce Meyer and Ginger Stache share their own vulnerable stories, ranging from childhood wounds to betrayal in relationships, and pair them with biblical truths that remind readers of God’s unconditional love. The book helps readers understand how rejection shapes us, how it isolates us, and most importantly, how we can heal by embracing our true identity in Christ. With study questions included, it’s also a powerful tool for reflection or even a group study.

✍🏽 My Review:

The topics in this book are extremely deep and vulnerable, and honestly, it was a breath of fresh air to hear real people’s experiences of trauma and how they found their way forward. So much of rejection begins when we’re young, whether through bullying, family struggles, or just feeling unseen, and it shapes the way we carry ourselves into adulthood. What I loved about this book is the way Joyce and Ginger spoke so openly about those struggles, but always pointed back to Scripture and the truth of who God says we are.

I’ve followed Joyce Meyer before and have always appreciated her honesty, but Ginger Stache was new to me. Listening to their stories together created such a strong balance of wisdom and empathy. This book doesn’t shy away from pain, but it offers hope, strength, and healing in such a powerful way. It’s a reminder that even in rejection, we are never truly alone, and through faith we can rebuild our confidence and sense of worth. 🤍

This was a short book about healing from rejection of all kinds. While much of what was stated I had heard before, it was nice to hear other stories of women who have been through similar and far worse situations. There is a sort of kinship in pain and realizing you are not alone. While there were many scripture references given as well as many self-reflective questions, the practical aspect of healing did not seem as prevalent as in other books. But since healing is not linear, there is no tutorial for step-by-step healing.
Overall, I’m glad I read the book, or rather I’m glad the authors read the book to me.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC

This book is an empowering guide for anyone who’s felt rejected, abandoned, or emotionally wounded. Joyce Meyer and Ginger Stache share personal stories and biblical wisdom to help readers confront pain, embrace healing, and rediscover their worth in God’s love.
I found hope in their message—healing is possible, and we’re never alone in our struggles. "Even though people in our lives may reject us, God accepts us and loves us unconditionally." The personal testimonies throughout the book offer a sense of community and encouragement, while the biblical insights provide a clear path forward. A powerful read for those seeking faith-based encouragement and emotional restoration.

This was a great book about healing the wounds of rejection by Joyce Meyer and Ginger Shache!

The book starts off with Joyce and Ginger sharing their stories of rejection and how they overcame it in their lives. Joyce’s start in life was rooted in rejection whereas Ginger felt rejected by her husband.

Both their stories touched me and somehow I could relate a little bit with Ginger and her situation.

Both women give biblical guidance throughout the book on uncovering lies, how people come in our lives for a season, whether that is a season, temporary or a lifetime. The book also emphasizes the power of forgiveness and how it is a choice, not a feeling.

I really loved this book and I would gladly listen to it again on audiobook. I highly recommend reading this book for anyone who has felt betrayed, rejected and lost, or even someone seeking more spiritual guidance.

I was hoping to get more from this book than I did. I know I struggle with rejection wounds, but the book didn’t give any new insight. I love Joyce, but the last few books I’ve read have felt repetitive and surface level.

Teachings for anyone whose felt the sting of rejection whether in the form of severe abuse or simply being ghosted by a friend.

Using personal experiences to connect with readers, I could really relate to some of their emotions in difficult circumstances and reflect on how to find healthier ways to cope with difficulties and keeping a relationship with God at the forefront with his everlasting love and care.

I have always appreciated and gleaned incredible wisdom from Joyce Meyer books. But since this one is co-authored by Ginger Stache, I found it additionally insightful. Specifically, the last chapter Ginger shared was worth the entire read. It was a practical application and way to help anyone who has been trapped in the aftermath of rejection.
Also, huge kudos to Stache’s husband for having the courage to allow his wife of over 40 years to transparently write about his long-ago struggle with pornography. Spoiler alert this could have destroyed their marriage, but Ginger courageously fought through the betrayal, rejection, and hurt as her husband dealt and sought help with the addiction.
The reason I found this so riveting was because the statistics regarding Internet pornography addiction are startling. Recently, I read these alarming statistics and also about the vast scope of this problem in Max Lucado’s book, “Tame your Thoughts….”
Back to this book, I consistently find Joyce Meyer titles to be worthy of five stars and this one is no exception. My hope is that this dynamic duo of Stache and Meyer will team up again and write on other topics to assist readers with healing and spiritual growth!
One disclaimer: Ginger Stache was my supervisor for over five years when I was a Christian TV producer and reporter. I observed firsthand her dedication to faith and her integrity as a servant of Christ.
