Life has a sick sense of humor. One minute, I’m arguing with my mobster ex while dripping wet in nothing but a towel. The next, he’s dead on the floor, and I’m naked, vulnerable, and at the sole mercy of the most dangerous man in New York City. I’ve heard the rumors that all the mafia families bow to Creed Ferraro, but I never expected him to drag me into their world. Creed blames me for his brother’s death, and now I’m also a witness to his violent crime. I know the rules. In the mafia, witnesses and enemies don’t get to live. Creed is unpredictable, though. I should be terrified of him, but he killed my ex to save my life. And I can’t ignore the twisted sense of safety that comes with being near the ruthless mobster.
Someone in my city wants me dead. The fools missed and killed my little brother instead. Now, vengeance burns in my veins, and nothing will stop me from hunting down the cowards responsible for his death. Killing my ally’s son in a fit of rage? Not part of the plan, even if he deserved to die. I couldn’t stand to watch him lay another hand on her. Zara. Not only is she responsible for setting me and my brother up, she’s also seen too much. One wrong word from her lips, and we’re both dead or serving a life sentence. I can’t let her go, but keeping her close is dangerous — for both of us, especially since she’s hiding secrets from me that may start a mafia war in New York City. The more time I spend with Zara, though, the harder it is to remember why she’s a threat. That’s why I make her a deal to keep her by my side. The only way she gets to live is if she agrees to become my wife.
Filthy Little Games is a steamy dark mafia romance featuring a possessive hero who will unalive anyone who touches his wife. Readers should check the TW at the beginning of the book. There is a HEA and no OW drama. The criminal repercussions will continue throughout the New York City Mafia series with different main characters in each novel.
Lane Hart is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author. She lives in North Carolina with her husband, D.B. West, and their two children. She loves all things beach related, especially sea turtles, and is a huge fan of the Carolina Panthers.
You're coming out of the shower and see a man murdering your fiancé. He makes you help clean up the crime and dispose of the body, and he says this stays a secret. But how can he make sure you won't tell anyone? He gives you two options: de💀th or marry him. So, of course, you have your daughter to think about and decide to marry and live with him, and for incentive, he'll give you a million dollars a month.
I loved Creed's possessive and protective nature toward Zara. He is hot and rich and wants to help her get her daughter back. He loves her body and is obsessed with eating her p😻ssy. I mean SWOON. Anyone turning all that down is a fool.
My heart hurt for Zara. She's been through hell and still manages to have a smile. I don't know how she did it, but as a mother, she was one strong lady.
What a great start to this series. I loved Creed and Zara's story and can't wait to read Cruel Little Games.
Wow what a great bok. This is first in the series. Creed is a bad boy mafia boss. Zara is a woman he meets when she's sent to deliver a message to him. There is spot of chemistry between these two. He's out to kill her. But will he? Plus the sex appeal is out of this world.
As a fan of this author, I was thrilled to begin a new series of Mafia stories. If you are new to this author, this is a good place to start.
Creed has a lot of pressures, as the head of NYC's five families. It is impossible to trust anyone, as betrayals and lies flow like rivers in his world. When he and his crew step into a trap, he suffers a huge loss, and is bent on revenge and retribution. All signs point to Zara, as the woman who caused his pain, and the hunt for her begins. Unfortunately, Creed is not the only person who wants Zara's silence... for several reasons. Who do you trust, when everyone wants you gone?
The twists and turns in this story certainly kept me on the edge of my seat, and this has everything we need and want in a good Mafia read - >>Betrayals, intrigue and lies >>Retribution, violence and bloody conflicts >>Steamy chemistry and surprising attraction/protection >>Unexpected loyalties and a great HEA.
I highly recommend this author, and read. Once you are finished with this story, I suggest reading more from her catalog of addictive works. I can't wait for the next one! One click this - today!

🅼🆈 🆃🅷🅾🆄🅶🅷🆃🆂:
This book was a freaking rollercoaster of secrets, twists and emotional turns right from that first page. I couldn't guess at all what was going to smack me in the face in the next chapter because it sure did - smack me with every curveball that's thrown our way.
This one was so deliciously unpredictable and I'm saying this especially because we have layer upon layer upon layer of secrets as the story unfolds and the curveballs you don't see coming.
Creed is the Capo dei Capi meaning King of the Kings. He controls all the other mob bosses and you can say everyone is under his reign. That seat has been in his family and he's been the ruling king for over a decade now.
Zara works two jobs to make ends meet but she has dark secrets and emotional wounds so deep that she doesn't have anyone to share them with nor anyone who can give her freedom from her prison.
One wrong warning and Creed's life changes as things take a turn for the worse right from that moment onwards, when Creed and Zara's fates get tangled together such that danger becomes their constant companion.
Zara doesn't even know what she's done unknowingly and now even though she's not at fault, has to bear the consequences at the hands of the Don himself.
This one was as such much seductive and full of dangers as it was a wild ride full of dark turns and secrets that both broke my heart on one hand and had me cheering for how these two unusual souls come together.
Zara and Creed become accomplices when Creed takes a step and decision that was taken to quench his thirst for revenge but that same action might result in an all out war if not hidden and here is where Zara becomes his Ace Card.
I can't tell you how Zara has left me speechless and shocked after knowing her story. I didn't expect that girl to have gone through so much and even till date has been suffering. Yet what I admire about her is her kindness and understanding of other people and seeing their needs and hurt in spite of their dark masks.
Creed is the King of all the other mob bosses for a reason. And this makes for one delicious ride because we get to see what and how the Mafia King gets entangled in a vicious circle of betrayal, revenge and unknowingly falling for someone he'd never seen coming his way.
Also, Dre and Stella.... Oooohhh.... She can't even stand him and he's been secretly obsessed with her and doesn't want to, but wants her so bad AND they are gonna be married soon... Whatttt!!! Count me freaking in, as I can't wait to see what happens there.
This story will definitely break your heart but also will put a wide and beautiful smile back on your face. It will also have your heart racing from the many wicked and dangerous turns it will throw your way and especially Creed and Zara's Chemistry.
These two took their sweet time coming together but were so naughty and dirty once they did. Creed is such a dirty talker and so good at teasing his girl, among other things that bring her pleasure. 😉
I was all about Creed worshipping Zara on his knees every chance he got even though he was resisting her the best that he could. What I respected him for, was his giving her pleasure, not with any expectations of her returning it. Ahhh... These two were definitely freaking fire together. 🥵🔥
Oh my... These two are so stubborn. Taking life changing decisions based on each other's support, yearning for the other one so bad yet resisting their feelings as if they were paid to do so.
Especially Creed, that man had me gritting my teeth in annoyance for his stubbornness in not acknowledging what he feels for Zara. The tug of emotions and the turmoil had me equally glued to the pages as much as all the freaking action that was happening on the page.
One thing for sure... There was not a single dull moment in this wild rollercoaster ride. Loved this one. ♥️♥️
Lane Hart brought the games to the East Coast, starting with the Ferraro Family, its leader and Capo del Capi, Creed Ferraro, and the woman he didn't see coming, by chance, circumstance or death.
In the blink of an eye, everything went literally FUBAR. Creed lost his head, unreproachably, his younger brother and a part of himself...but he knew he would make the responsibles pay, in blood and demise. Zara finds herself under coercion to do something seemingly simple, but the consequences go beyond the unexpectable and now she's fu@k€d.
Let me start by saying that Creed and Zara are the most unprobable couple ever imagined, specially because the way they met and the events afterward where she understands the weight of her actions, even unmotivated and unknown, were wrong and critical, but there was nothing she could have done to stop what went down.
Somewhat, Lane made it work with these two and it was an absolute page-turner!
The narrative is emotinally convoluted with Creed raging to avenge his brother and wanting to protect the catalyst for his passing, because if there is one thing he comprehends is someone acting amiss intenting on care and protection. On the other hand, their attraction is explosive and having done something not kindly taken, he feels underserving of happiness and goodness. Zara realizes the man she feared was a savior at heart and soul, her own savior and fierce protector, against all odds, opinions and the devil himself, one she could love fully, with complete openness, sincerity and aceptance, being half way there already....if only......
I loved that our protagonists stoped butting heads and mincing words and, specially, that great slew of secondary characters finally giving their stamp of approval, discerning betwen culprits and pawns and convincing Creed of Carmine's thoughts and life posture.
Fast-paced, intriguing with suspense galore, the games might've started askew in NYC, unexpected liasons, secret agendas, the five families to contend with and the peace still unsteady, are the three musqueteers ready for the future? Well, one accomplished, two in the making, a prison sentence hanging......and a lot of turbulence or so I hope!
Filthy Little GamesLane Hart ________________________________________ Filthy Little Games The first book in this series delivered everything I want in a dark mafia romance—violence, power, forced proximity, and morally gray characters who live in the shadows. Creed, our MMC, is the head of the Five Families and driven by revenge for his brother’s death—one he believes the FMC had a hand in. Zara, however, is far more complicated than she initially appears. She’s being blackmailed by a rival family who have stolen her daughter, forcing her into impossible choices just to survive. The trauma Zara has endured throughout her adult life is absolutely horrific. Honestly, I was surprised she wasn’t more jaded—her resilience is both heartbreaking and impressive. When she witnesses Creed “unalive” someone (while she herself is being brutally attacked), she’s given two options: be silenced permanently… or marry him. Forced marriage it is. As the story unfolds, Creed slowly begins to see Zara for who she truly is and everything she’s suffered—but trust does not come easily. He can’t forget his belief that she was involved in his brother’s murder, and that tension hangs heavy over every interaction between them. This book is dark, brutal, and emotionally charged, with a slow-burning connection built on trauma, survival, and power. A strong start to the trilogy that leaves you wanting answers—and more chaos.
🔥 Tropes • Dark Mafia Romance • Head of the Five Families • Forced Marriage • Blackmail • Revenge Plot • Morally Gray / Ruthless MMC • Traumatized FMC • Touch-Her-and-You-Die Energy • Power Imbalance • Secrets & Betrayal • Slow-Burn Tension
⚠️ Trigger Warnings • Kidnapping of a child (off-page but central to the plot) • Past and ongoing trauma • Physical assault • Violence and murder • Coercion / forced marriage • Emotional manipulation • Threats to life • Organized crime themes
Creed and Zara have a very twisted story that starts with deceit and tragedy and slowly moves to love and trust. It was a story that was hard to put down once I started reading it!
Creed, leader of the mafia families of NYC is lured to one of his clubs where he is ambushed, charged with a weapons charge that could land him in prison for 3 1/2 years to 15 years and has his brother die before his eyes. In the aftermath of that tragedy he goes in search of the person who set things in motion only to find Zara and have their story begin in what can only be described as love at first sight despite the circumstances of their meeting and Creed's failure to recognize what was before him.
Zara, down on her luck and a pawn for another mafia family is tasked to deliver a message to a club that set in motion the events that plague Creed. She has been blackmailed into the task with the carrot of being able to see her daughter - the daughter that was taken from her by this mafia family and kept from her unless she performed certain tasks in a quid pro quo arrangement for them. She has an unexpected meeting with Creed that leads to the death of one of her blackmailers and a marriage of convivence to Creed and the ball rolling on other events that take place throughout this book.
This book was a good read. The characters had chemistry that was off the charts and many twists and turns to their story that kept me guessing as to who was responsible to the events that were taking place. I enjoyed the set up for future books for this series with the supporting characters since the plot of this book and future books look like they could overlap. I am curious to see what is in store for this series with the next book as this book had me hooked. Overall, this was a good read and a good start to a new series that I would recommend to others.
This author has been one of my favorites for a few years now and I can't get enough. Book after book just made me even more addicted to her writing and I always want more, no matter the genre she writes. To top it all, she writes my favorites, MC and Mafia books. The best right? Lane Hart is spectacular and her books will take you to your knees... Trust me is her latest release and explores the lives of Creed and Zara. Love these names. Creed has been the Capo dei Capi for a decade, since his father's death. He's a ruthless man, that makes no mistakes nor forgives. When his brother is killed, his only concern is to kill the culprits but what a naked woman gets out of the shower... Zara hasn't been having a good life. These last years had been a nightmare and her only ray of sunshine is... When she's threatened by a dark man... I knew this book was going to be intense, but dayum, it was so much more. It started in a dark way and it became even more dark, in some of the chapters. When I thought that I knew all the secrets, another thing happened to put that theory down. Secrets, betrayal, crime, and torture are so present that I thought I would pass out. Jesus, how can you betray your own like that? What matters would you take just to hide your secrets? Not only darkness surrounds this book, but the hot stuff is just right three to damp your panties and so much more. Love the way the story progressed and I kept reading and reading until the book was finished...at 4 am. Do I regret it? I do not. This author can always do this to me and I'm always eager for more. Another masterpiece Lane. You nailed it once again. Can't wait to have more news from these two and we'll and Dre...
This is a very dark, intense and angst driven story, with multiple levels. The world the reader is introduced to is one of exploitation and darkness. I found its take on the mafia romance genre to be slightly different, there was no innocent person everyone is complex and broken by circumstances which made it more engrossing. It's also hard to review without giving away to many spoilers. So I'll be brief in saying Creed is a enjoyable hero, with his own version of honor. Although he has close family his reputation has isolated him from others and relationships. Following a set up, manipulated by his enemies, Creed seeks revenge before he s sent to jail. That revenge leads to Zara, a truly strong and endearing character who refutes acting the victim even those she s manipulated and abused. Instant attraction leads to them teaming up for revenge. I really liked the way Creed came to see fate as intervening and bring them together through his brother. I think the story got off to a great start, it did slow down again a bit in the middle, but then picked up for ending. The ending also left lose ends to be explore in the next book in the story which looks very interesting. I think the characters, their lack of melodrama in their reactions to events and even humour very drew me into a book that does tackle some very dark topics. These topics include references to suicide, grooming, torture etc although it does not go out of its way to be incredibly graphic in its protrayal. Normally these subjects are discussed albeit at times in a crude ways. There is a trigger warning at the front of the book that discusses this.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Make sure you read trigger warnings, for example book contains torture, kidnapping, murder, manipulation, heavy profanity, graphic sex scenes. Our 2 main characters; Creed Ferraro : The Capo Dei Capi (Mob boss of all mob bosses)/ most dangerous man in NYC/ all the mafia families bow to him/ also know as Accabadore (Angel of Death) Beautiful but deadly, a very powerful man! Zara Riley : feisty beauty who crosses paths with the Don one fateful night and she gets pulled into his dangerous world.
Plot; Zara has no choice but to follow any command by the head of the Rovina family and his son as they cruely took her new born child away from her. She has to deliver a chilling message in order to trap Creed and his brother, a set up intended to end their lives, however Creed escapes unharmed, his brother is killed. He sets out to revenge his brother's killing. He blames her for his brother's death. First up, he hunts her down, but allows her to live, but under his terms. She must marry him so he can keep her under control as she becomes a witness to a violent crime, a secret that must not get out. More secrets unfold, and revenge killings follow...
Fast-paced, action-packed, Godfellas vibes! Lane has the talent to always write fantastically sexy, dangerous men who are straight out of my fantasies/dreams and have me weak at the knees. I devour her books!
Quote: 'Only you know the truth, that the King of Kings is at the sole mercy of his beautiful queen'.
If you like this book, be sure to check out the other books in the Little Games series (this is book # 5).
I can't believe I've never read a book by Lane before. I was hooked from the first page and couldn't put it down! It had everything a great mafia romance should have, the angst, the action, the blodshed. I loved the storyline which was quite unique.
As Creed is the head of the five mafia famailies of New York, he keeps order and put's the other families in line. Meeting Zara and taking her as his wife to keep her safe and because he can't get her out of his mind, he finds out secrets from her that puts her in danger. As her husband and protector he helps her find her daughter, keeping her safe from the father. I loved the sass and banter between Creed and Zara, the way she holds her own with him, not being scared of the mafia don, instead standing up to him, lovimg him and helping him when things get tough.
Grieving for his brother Creed needs answers to who has betrayed him, Zara stands by his side as a strong mafia wife, until it becomes too dangerous and he sends her away.
Their love for one another holds fast and they reunite. Although ending on a happy note, their are some unanswered questions, how long Creed's sentance will be, and if he does go to prison. I'm sure these will be answered in the next book, of which I cannot wait!
A free bonus epilogue was super nice with a surprise ending. Would totally recommend and will read the next book in the series as well as checking out Lane's other books.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
He is a mafia don, leader of one of the 5 families. Ruthless and protective. He shoots a rival on a whim when he sees her being attacked, and then forces her to marry him to prevent her from testifying against him. She has secrets of her own to unravel, and they soon find themselves in a dance of mafia family drama and finding the love of your life. There are many layers to this story. The character development was good. You really get a chance to see a big strong mafia man, find the woman who brings him to his knees and what he will do for her. You also get to see a woman who was taken advantage of and brutalized find the ability to trust and fall in love. They are at the core a sweet story. There is a lot going on around them, a little too much for my taste. I prefer to the story to not overshadow the romance and I felt this was teetering for me. Their relationship was great, their chemistry is steamy and spicy pulling them towards each other despite circumstances. There is a complicated mafia story arc that runs through the book. While this is a stand alone, you are introduced to characters who will feature in the next book and learn some of their story. There are clear trigger warnings in this story including prior SA of FMC, mutilation, violence, trafficking etc. This did take me a bit by surprise so be aware before reading. The author created some engaging and interesting characters and gives you a happily ever after.

Lane does it again! And it keeps getting better!! This book is on fire with the amount of angst and drama from the beginning. Definitely a page-turner, keeping me on the edge of my seat as Zara’s actions inadvertently set in motion a deep betrayal.
Creed will have to use everything and everyone loyal to him to discover the traitor while attempting to keep Zara and her secrets safe. Creed, the Mafia Capo de Capi (King of Kings) faces the challenge of a lifetime and the other Four Families of NYC. Along the way, he has a uncanny knack for collecting women, nannies, a kid, and a would-be robber.
💋 Creed: “For a moment, I thought you might warn POS that I was in the bathroom when you let him in the apartment.” 💋 Zara: “For a moment, I thought you might let POS k$ll me to save yourself the trouble.”
First, let me say this is a good book. Second, let me say I hated it, so much so I read it twice. Finally, do I recommend it — maybe.
This book just couldn’t hold my interest, the first read through I found myself skipping chapters (yes whole chapters). Even with it not holding MY interest I could see it was well written, so I waited to re-read it.
During the re-read I finally figured out why this book couldn’t hold my attention. It’s billed as a “dark mafia” romance. There are elements of both, but most of the book focuses on the supposed “leader” of the five families and his crazy thoughts. The dark elements are most alluded to, though after Emilio comes into play there’s violence and violent behavior. Creed too demonstrates some violence, but I swear he spends more time whining and being grumpy than acting like a leader. He spends the whole book chasing his tail and it’s ridiculous to me. He makes stupid choices after stupid choices in my opinion. That’s why I don’t like the book…I didn’t find the MMC to be engaging, entertaining, or exciting…boring and foolish is how I feel about him.
This is not to say some other reader won’t find her book boyfriend with Creed, but to me he was irritating, irrational, and irresponsible.
Action ⭐️⭐️ Believable storyline & overall plot ⭐️⭐️ Entertainment 🌟🌟🌟 Spicy 🌶️ Triggers 🚩 Writing style & written format ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Overall a solid 3/5
Note the lower the 🚩 the better, meaning not many triggers & defines it as a romantic read not dark romance.🥰
Hold on to your seat and get ready for a wild ride!
Filthy Little Games is the first book that I have read by author Lane Hart. It is a dark mafia romance. This book is a great start to a new series. I couldn’t put the book down and was on the edge of my seat throughout the book.
Zara is an independent and feisty woman. She is doing her best to survive in life. She is being blackmailed. Zara has a hard life, but is doing her best to survive. Creed is boss of his mafia family. He took over after his father died. He is out for revenge and to make the person/people who set him up pay for what happened. The chemistry between Creed and Zara is white-hot. I loved Creed and Zara together.
Filthy Little Games is well written with unique characters and storyline. This story has suspense. spicy chemistry, romance, love, drama, arranged marriage, mafia men, enemies to lovers, kidnapping, banter, tense moments, feisty and independent woman, blackmail, reuniting with family twists and turns, intrigue, revenge, great side characters, and so much more. I look forward to book 2.

This is the 1st book in the NYC Mafia series featuring the deliciously dark and twisted HOT page-turning, arranged marriage, enemies to lovers, mafia romance between Creed and Zara. Zara gets manipulated by her ex Isaac into doing something that leads to the death of Creed Ferraro's younger brother. She had no idea that anyone was going to get hurt Isaac just told her to get them to the club and he used her daughter as leverage to make her do it. Now Creed blames Zara for his brother's death and he wants answers which is why he lets himself into her apartment. When Zara comes out of the shower in nothing but a towel she finds Creed the ruthless mafia boss waiting to confront her. Creed knows that Zara would have no reason to want him and his brother dead so she had to be working with someone and he thinks he knows who. Creed questions Zara about what her connection to Isaac and his family is when all of a sudden Isaac shows up at her apartment. Zara confronts him about lying to her about the night Creed's brother died and things turn nasty. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this deliciously dark and twisted HOT page-turning, arranged marriage, enemies to lovers, mafia romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book and I'm looking forward to the next book in this exciting series!.

A dark in-depth mafia romance novel that I found to be uncanny, suspenseful, dangerous situations and yet I felt captivated to keep on reading. A young Zara is promised modelling contracts by a family friend, Emilio Rovina who happens to be the mob boss of Brooklyn. She’s thrown into the mafia world & is living a life of hell. There’s no escape as Emilio has kept her child since birth & she has to do everything he and/or his son order her to do if she wants to see her daughter.
Her newest order is to personally give a message to warn Creed, mafia king of New York City, that he has a target on his head. Once she meets him at his club, all hell breaks out with Creed’s brother & the manager dying. The challenge begins on who is responsible with this raid. This story is intense with a few twists & surprising results.
This is book 1 with an introduction to a few characters who will be having their own story to tell in this series. Lane Hart does not disappoint with any mafia-themed story-lines, especially when there’s mystery & suspense surrounding this particular mafia family where no one can be trusted. If triggers don’t bother you, I would recommend this series.
I received an ARC of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
When I finished the Sin City Mafia series I was so sad because I didn't want it to end. So imagine my excitement when I got an email about Filthy Little Games, the start of the New York City Mafia series! I hope there are endless large cities for Lane to create mafia stories about.
Creed Ferraro is head of one of NYC's five mafia families and someone wants him dead. Enough so that they've taken out his little brother by accident. The first clue to finding out the truth behind it? Zara. Whose ties to another mafia family have left her trapped in a bad situation. Maybe they can solve each others problems.
I really enjoyed the whole plot of this story from start to finish, though the resolution did seem a little too easy. Zara and Creed are well written with interesting backgrounds and their own secrets and faults. I did not love their moments of miscommunication. It's one of my least favorite tropes and it felt like they intentionally misheard each other to drive the story forward. The secondary characters are numerous, but not too terrible to keep straight. My favorite part was probably the build-up throughout this book to the next. I can't wait to get my hands on it!.

this was so good!! such a different/interesting take on forced marriage that i haven’t seen before. my heart hurt for Zara and everything she’s been through.
This story follows Creed, who is the capo dei capi of the Italian mafia in New York, and Zara who unfortunately gets mixed up with one of the other Dons and his son.
They ask Zara for a favor which ends up with Creed’s brother dead and when Creed figures out who she is and the part she played, he’s out for revenge. But when he confronts her, yes he’s angry, but he feels like he needs to protect her. And after she witnesses him commit a murder, there’s only one way she gets to live…
“She is by far the oddest woman I’ve ever met, and this is the strangest fucking encounter of my entire life. Those two things are increasingly becoming reasons why I think I want to keep her rather than kill her.”
This didn’t end on a cliffhanger for the couple but she did have some “news” that wasn’t shared so i’m interested to see if that’s shared in the next book and how the whole prison thing turns out for the Ferraro family..
-dark mafia -forced marriage/marriage of convenience -kidnapping -touch her and die -strong FMC

A huge shoutout to @author for creating this masterpiece! I’m counting down the days until the next book! 📚✨ What are your thoughts on dark romance? Let’s chat in the comments!
This is the first book in a new series by one of my very favorite authors and this has just gotten me so excited for the upcoming books. Zara has a secret and because of that secret, she is "forced" to deliver a message to Creed Ferraro, the Capo dei capi or the "boss of all (the) bosses" of the Mafia and the most gorgeous man she has every laid her eyes on. Creeds meeting with Zara does not end the way either of them had hoped for. Creed's brother is gunned down and Zara realizes that she was set up and now if fearful for her life. Nothing could surprise her more than when she finds Creed in her apartment, expecting that he is there to end her life when he actually saves it. Those pivoting events lay the foundation for a roller coaster of a ride throughout this story that had me clinging to my seat. The one thing I was most disappointed in was that this book did not give me enough of Creed and Zara. Just when things got really interesting, the book ended so I hope their story is continued in the future book(s).

Dark romance Mafia Possessive MMC Touch her and unalive marriage of convenience/forced Close proximity Steamy
Featured characters Creed Ferraro -Head of the 5 families in NY. Powerful, ruthless but takes care of his people.
Zara- betrayed by those that should have protected her. Used and abused but is a resilient woman. She still is caring and helps out others . She does whatever she has to do to survive
Inadvertently, Zara causes the death of Creed’s brother. He should hate her, but he will lie and kill to protect her.
The characters are a bit complex. They both were hardened by life but with big hearts for those they care about. The soft side of Creed shown through with the way he behaved toward Zara’s daughter. Even though Zara was struggling she went out of her way to help the “robber”.
Lies, betrayals, secrets, violence and danger give us a story full of twists and turns. The pace is fast.
A good first story of the series. The next one up should be just as good!
I loved this mafia world and the love stories within it.
Creed is the King of Kings, the Don of Manhattan and the one who governs the head of the other Mafias in New York. His brother is taken out in an ambush and the one person he should be blaming, he just married.
I loved this, it was paced just right, the world building was great and painted a clear picture of what was going on. The Mafia drama and inner workings were so well done and incorporated into this love story.
Zara is the love of Creeds life, even if he knows he should discard her, he can't. This is a raw look at their love story.
Zara is strong, fierce and has been through so much and she is still fighting, with Creed she can just be, she feels safe and protected even though she knows she shouldn't.
This has it all, secrets, lies, comradee, underhanded deals, tension and drama.
It is graphic and so good I couldn't put it down. I recommend this book and cannot wait to read the next in the series.

While I enjoyed parts of this book, it wasn't my favourite from this author. The world building was strong, as always, but I found myself getting annoyed with the characters. I also felt it tried too hard to convince us of certain points, e.g., Creed's a really great guy under all the mafia criminal badness. The whole business with the nannies could have benefited from a little more explanation, otherwise it comes across as Zara's like, 'Oh, I want to keep them!' without asking them what they want to do (yes, they were probably safer staying with Creed and Zara rather than facing their old boss's wrath, but at the same time it's like Creed kidnapped them and wasn't letting them go because Zara wanted to keep them for the time being. Like they weren't humans with their own families and lives). Oh, and it took forever for someone to explicitly state that Zara was a victim in all of this too. Despite my issues with this book, I remain optimistic for the next book in the series.

What a way to start a series. Zara and Creed's relationship started off with a bang. Their story is full of distrust, lies, anger and hate, which lands these two in a predicament Creed didn’t see coming. Zara did something not knowing the ramifications of her actions until Creed shows up at her apartment ready to end her life, but the tables tilt in her favor and she is spared, well sort of if you mean marrying a mob boss to stay alive is better than death. There is one thing that Zara is keeping from Creed only because she needs to know that she can trust him with her secret as precious as it is. They are steamy, sexy and the chemistry is off the charts! There is so much action, drama and suspense that you will be on the edge of your seat flipping the pages to see how it all ends. I’m excited for the next book in the series. I found this book on BookSprout.
Creed and Zara was very good. I enjoyed every minute of it. The dark moments definitely make you cringe, but they help provide insights into their current lives and gives understanding of who they are as characters. I can relate to both of them in different ways. Creed literally has the weight of world and the different families on his shoulders, which can get overwhelming. We've all been there several times. Zara's been abuse, manipulated, and gotten the short end of the stick so many times. What I love about them is the love they have for their families and the selflessness to do whatever it takes to keep them safe. The drama is this story was right up my alley, and the plot kept me guessing who was behind it until the end. Although Creed and Zara get their happily ever after, the craziness is far from over. This was a great start to a new series. I can't wait to see how things unfold next.
Lane Hart introduces a new world with Filthy Little Games, the first New York City Mafia series book. This intense romance follows Zara and Creed, whose love story begins under the darkest of circumstances—Zara is inadvertently responsible for Creed’s brother’s death. Creed sets out for revenge as a ruthless mafia capo, only to discover the situation isn’t as black and white as he thought. Torn between duty and unexpected feelings, he forces Zara into marriage after she becomes a witness to another murder.
The novel delivers all the hallmarks of a great mafia romance—enemies to lovers, a forced marriage, action, and high-stakes drama. Both Zara and Creed carry deep emotional wounds, especially Zara, and their undeniable chemistry keeps the pages turning. Filthy Little Games is an engaging read, and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

The author Mrs. Hart has a new series New York City Mafia and this is the first book from it. We are taken into the life of Zara and Creed their story keeps you glued to your book from the beginning. They have an arranged marriage and oh man he thought that he could get revenge that way and that she was weak and oh that was a mistake because she is anything but weak. They are each other's opposites and have to deal with enough darkness and enemies, revenge, enemies and she fits him perfectly and Zara is what he needs. The storyline and the characters are so well described that you do not think for a moment about putting your book down. I can not wait for the second part of this wonderful dark novel.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. This is the first book in the New York City Mafia series. Each book can be read as a standalone. Creed is the boss of all the bosses, and someone just made a hit on his brother. He will stop at nothing to get revenge on whomever is responsible. Starting with the girl who caused the distracted. Zara didn't know what she was doing when she was blackmailed to deliver a message. Not that she could have backed out on anything the Rovina family asked her to do. They have controlled her life for the last seven years, and she doesn't see anyone coming to her rescue. This was definitely a great start to a new series. This powerhouse couple that I couldn't get enough of. Don't forget to download the bonus epilogue.
