Weather Report

Rate this book
Weather Report returns to the ancient tradition of oracular stories, but remains in todays language a langue of & evoking the imagination not this intellectual language of doggerel we often find in todays letters. I also find, for the most part, that these poems grow and intermingle with one another. After Ive read one poem & involved myself with it sufficiently, I turn to the next poem, & by its end, Im enlightened into the previous poem, & must return to it. This back and forth reflects how Carney simultaneously moves forward and reflects, as the great mythmakers do.
His book arrives at a necessary place and time for anyone who is about to drag their last foot into the world of adulthood, or who is already there, or who will be there. For Weather Report provides a forecast of where you might be & conditions you could expect should you get lost in the grown-up world a world filled with the generic, xenophobia, & habits. But there are no judgments in Weather Report, rather, it is a report a report of how to move in the adulthood of stasis & withering imagination. In these poems, you will find a language enough of us can speak a language of regenerative myths & rituals that are rooted in the continual & imaginative why? Weather Report is for all ages & professions, is filled with poems that celebrate living, & has poems that move forwards & backwards in time, up & down in imagination, out & into a young soul, & over & under your skin.
And one final word about the cover art, Catching Colors for Butterflies This collection of poems will reawaken your imagination & reconnect you to the childhood creativities & energies you have forgotten or misplaced. After you have found your way through these poems, you will see the painting anew & as Catching Colors for Adults. Read this collection so you can catch more colors for yourself.

Okay, I am a little biased when it comes to this book of psalms as I have taken English Literature courses from this professor. When I was going through some really rough things and I found this book that Professor Carney had signed for me, I opened it and began to read. Normally, poetry books are just skimmed for what is interesting at the time. I read it cover to cover in a single sitting. Talk about personally connecting with an author. This is a great read for any time, however, not just hard times.

My absolute favorite book of poetry! I love the story-telling, rhythm and congruent themes of each section.
