Melina was stuck in a rut. Her love life, and sex life, were like a broken record—repeating the same lonely, unfulfilled song. Until she found herself in possession of an invitation to a fae pleasure house where all her desires awaited exploration. The pleasure house was filled with monster lovers from beautiful naga women to telepathic tentacle creature, all looking for a casual hook ups for the night.
It was the perfect place for Melina to finally express the bisexuality she'd buried her whole life. Yet, as she visited each themed room, two monster in particular drew her attention—a stoic fem dryad who is determined not to let emotions in and a non-binary unicorn shifter who wants to see Melina after the night is over.
Hours of pleasure from knots, tails, and scales later, the night was coming to an end. But how could Melina go back to an empty home when the ache in her heart only seemed to feel better when she was with both of them.
Amelia Lascaux is a bisexual plus-size author writing paranormal and monster romance that delves into the darker side of the human condition. Amelia has a MFA in Fiction and a writing style that blends the readability of romance, descriptive spice, and themes of trauma healing. Expect to find bisexual/queer MCs, monster love Interests, inclusive body types, and pleasure as a way of life.
Their Sunflower Girl is exactly what I hoped it would be, steamy, monster-filled chaos. But it also managed to surprise me with how heartfelt and affirming it was. What starts as a spicy trip through a fae pleasure house turns into a beautiful journey of queer self-discovery, with Melina (Melody) slowly unraveling everything she thought she knew about desire, identity, and what she truly wants.
The structure flows so naturally, room by room, encounter by encounter, and each new monster brings their own flavor of heat, care, and connection. There’s such a fun variety here, tentacles, scales, horns, knots, and more, and it all stays grounded in mutual respect and some of the best consent-forward writing I’ve read lately. Seriously, the consent culture in this book? Chef’s kiss. And don’t even get me started on the grumpy dryad and the affectionate unicorn shifter! I’d read 500 more pages of that blossoming triad.
Playful, queer, and wildly imaginative, this novella delivers exactly what it promises and then gives you a little more. If you're looking for monster smut with a sweet, messy, and affirming heart, this one belongs on your list.
Thank you Amelia Lascaux for sending me this advance review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was such an interesting read, and incredibly hot too!
The thing I love most, is the journey Melina (Melody) takes on starting to heal her low self esteem. As a fat woman myself, I totally felt her shame and anxiety all the way to my soul. It was a little healing for me too, to know it's possible to be wanted no matter what my body shape is.
I really enjoyed the wide variety of spicy partners that were in this book. There was a little bit of everything across the whole gender spectrum. I also loved the interesting body types and biologies too.
My favorite character was Opal (nonbinary), and I loved that they used binders on their top half. It's so rare to see that in books, especially spicy ones. It was also cool that they were able to have a spicy session in both of their forms. We got to see full unicorn, and their more human shifter form. The inclusion, consent, and even aftercare was so perfect. It was deeply loving and supportive.
This book was fantastic in every way, and a must read if you want some beautifully written queer spice with a lovely Sapphic HEA.
This was a veritable monster f*ck fest in the best way possible. There are beings of all species, shapes, and sizes and they are all banging each other in this fae pleasure house. There are different rooms that have different ~themes~ based on the sexual experience one can have in that room. My favorite was the tentacle room because who doesn't want to be manhandled by a bunch of sentient tentacles? I also loved that every being had not only colorful, but delicious tasting fluids (iykwim-I don't wanna say too many words that will get me flagged okay). This is erotica but there is also a thread of romance between the FMC and two other characters. I wish there was a bit more time spent with these other characters because I feel like she knew them for like an hour and then was like ok . Overall, I really liked this book and had a fun time reading this short and super spicy book. If you like monsters and high spice I think you will enjoy this one. Also, I would like to thank the author for using anatomically correct words for female genitalia and saving me from the curse of the wet folds.
This book feels like you are at a wine tasting tour but for monster fucking as you follow the FMC through the different rooms in the pleasure house.
Throughout this book you get to see Melody learn what she likes and explore wants she was told to suppress by her religious upbringing. We get to see her anxieties and desires hand in hand.
As a queer human I felt very seen while Melody explores and experiences things for the first time.
You get to meet so many different monsters, so many different spicy scenes with all sorts of different fun anatomy, favored cum and genders.
This book feels like a warm sexy hug of queerness.
This is an ARC review and the book was kindly given to me in exchange for my honest opinion.
Wow, Amelia has created a unique and vibrant world full of colorful characters and queerness. The spice level is high throughout with many different monsters getting their time to shine. I always love when the importance of consent is stressed throughout the story, and this book excels at that. I really enjoyed my time with Their Sunflower Girl and hope you consider stopping by the pleasure house as well.
I loved reading about a bisexual FMC who gets the chance to explore her sexuality at a fae pleasure house. The different chapters talked about the different room, which was my favorite part about the whole book. Getting to see different creatures and not being judgmental whether someone is experienced or not. Also, getting to try something new and having the choice to know if you love it or not.
One of the things that is talked about in the beginning of entering the pleasure house is about consent and protection. I appreciate and love the way it was written and was talked about in the book.
Look, this book is exactly what it says it is. It is an extremely spicy tale where Melody gets to explore her bisexuality when visiting a pleasure house full of all kinds of fantasy beings for the first time. But also, it's so much more than that! It's deconstructing religious trauma, and realizing you're loveable in the exact body you're in, and living the life you were always meant to. Smut may be what pushes the plot along, but it delivers so much more than that (plus the smut is amazing so it didnt even need to be more).
You know that moment when you pick up a book for the smut, but then the plot completely takes you by surprise? I can't even express how much I adore this one—it’s definitely steamy, but the world-building is so rich and unique. It feels like stepping into your own fantasy and fully embracing it. Go into this book with an open mind, and you’ll be met with such tenderness and care.
Thank you to the author for the ARC. I’m voluntarily leaving this honest review.
4.5 rounding up!! i think i need to find a portal to a magical realm where i can sleep with a ton of non-human creatures ASAP. this was a fun read!!! very much the smut is the plot and i enjoyed it since it was well done!! i loved all the different creatures i feel aren't typically seen in "normal" monster romance and the couple who are seen more often!! such a range of kinks exploded and it was so nice!! i definitely want to read more from this author!! *this is an ARC review!*
Welp, homegirl was horny from the get go and gets down and dirty in every room of the pleasure house. Definitely magical!
Loved the LGBTQIA+ representation and fat girl representation ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜
This book was almost entirely smut but there was a small plot. she came into her own. found her own kinks and they made her more powerful. Way to slut it out!!!!
Absolutely incredible! This book was about a lot of super enthusiastic monster smut, but it also hit heavy on consent and the main character's self exploration of her queerness. I was personally fascinated by all the various monster appendages. Fantastic for a quick lighthearted smutty read!
Oh man this was one pleasure filled, while also being romantic and sweet, ride. Each of the rooms made me wish it were real and each of the being encountered brimmed with life and individuality. Absolutely breathtaking
Their Sunflower Girl is a Spicy Monster romance that breaks all the norms, allows the FMC to be who she is meant to be and explore her desires. I think it is both inspirational and wildly entertaining.
A tale of bisexual exploration, having a safe place to be fully oneself, and of adoration, Their Sunflower Girl is a fast-paced and pleasure-filled fantasy erotica with an impressive amount of representation. Author Amelia Lascaux wrote a beautiful novella so full of acceptance that I can't wait to read more by her!
Oh, I just absolutely adored every single page of this beautifully sweet & jam packed spicy novella!! Amelia is such a talented writer. Her books truly take you into the world she created. I would seriously live inside of the Wayward Déine Chronicles forever if I could! Their Sunflower Girl is full of incredibly hot monsters. Like, any monster you could dream of will be spotted at this pleasure house!! I’m hoping we get to visit the pleasure house again in a future book of Amelia’s. Our main characters are absolutely gorgeous and show how we are all deserving of love. No matter what size you are, what you look like, who you love; you deserve to love and be loved. Mel, Opal and Acacia are my absolute dream throuple!! They’re all so different from eachother but continuously encourage, care for and spoil eachother. I loved seeing Mel be more comfortable with herself and know she is an absolute queen!
