Faizon Grey’s priorities were God, family, and boxing, in that order. He and the people he loved most had endured enough pain to last a lifetime, so Faize sought to secure each of them a better future. When an unexpected opportunity meets his unmatched talent, Faize earns fame and fortune that he never thought was possible. Life was finally looking up, and he couldn’t imagine it getting any better…until he saw her. Love was the furthest thing from his mind, but when he and Desirae collided, it was all he saw when he looked into her eyes.
All Desirae Douglas knew was misfortune, but a poor decision from her past resulted in the one good thing in her life—her beautiful daughter. Years of being let down taught Desirae to rely only on herself. Determined to escape the daily struggle in which she found herself, she hustled harder than most. Being a great mother and student consumed her life, but when she bumps into Faize, the attraction is instant. She can’t help but consider making space in her heart for him.
Family, exes, and lies threaten their undeniable connection, but once Faize gets a taste of life with Desi, he isn’t willing to give it up. Is their bond strong enough to weather the storms that come their way? Or will forces outside of their control cause their relationship to crumble before it really begins?
What do you do when you have a four-year-old depending on you, a trash baby daddy who likes to control you, an unsupportive mother, and you just met the newly crowned heavyweight champion of the world who wants to love you, but you know the relationship can never go anywhere because your child's father would never allow it? This is the dilemma for Desirae Douglas, who just wants to be able to provide herself and her daughter a better life, but it seems like for every step she takes, the people in her life knock her back twenty.
Faize has just been thrust into a world of money and opportunity, and sometimes he doesn't know how to take it. He doesn't trust it, and he certainly doesn't let anyone who wasn't his day one in his circle until he lays eyes on Desirae. This is my second read by Jaimsss P, and I had an absolutely good time reading this. Faize was the most emotionally intelligent MMC I've read in a while. He came into Desirae's life, uplifting her from the second they came into contact, and I loved it. There were no games played, no back and forth, just adoration and devotion. Now Desirae did have to get out of her own way a time or two, but I could understand her hesitancy to trust when no one in her circle has ever truly been there for her. This was such a good story from beginning to end.
When the cover reveal was posted, I knew I would be running to kindle to read this book. It was worth the build up. Listen, if Jaimssss P does one thing right, it is writing a MMC that is down bad for his woman.
Faizon “Faize” Grey was this reader girls dream come true. I loved him real bad. He was a manly man, a provider, protector, leader, and fixer. Faize’s journey to becoming the heavyweight champion of the world and a millionaire wasn’t easy but it was right on time for him. What I loved the most about him was how humble he remained throughout the newfound fame. Desirae Douglas was a mother, college student, and a great example of what determination can be. Granted, Desirae leaned on her baby’s father a lot; I understood the why behind it. However, COMMA, Rodney was trash, and I wanted him out the picture in the worst way. lol.
When Faize and Desirae met it was an instant attraction, and the sparks were flying. Again, Rodney did a number on Desirae because my girl could not see that Faize was one of one! But, Faize was not worried about Rodney or anyone else, he only had his eyes set on making Desirae his. He said “F- any woman who ain’t you.” I was screaming because this is the energy I love in my books! Throughout the book I felt all the butterflies and heart flutters for Faize because the pressure he applied to get what he wanted was admirable. And then when he met Amira and turned into father of the year, I was like can this man get any more perfect?!
I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I appreciated the details regarding the city, underground boxing, the different communities, and awareness about gang culture and violence. There was drama throughout and the couple had their moments of tests. But, love was always at the forefront. Now, I will say, I wanted to shake Desirae on more than one occasion, because she allowed Rodney to run rampant while she had this good man in Faize who would have moved heaven and earth for her. I think what frustrated me the most was Desirae was used to figuring things out on her own - but Faize was right there and she still chose to put herself in vulnerable situations. I was glad that Faize was always two steps ahead of Desirae, smh! All in all, another great book and another book bae to add to my collection. ♥️
This was my first read from this author, and I loved every bit of it. I’m also a sucker for a man like Faize. He’s intentional and sure of what he wants from the very beginning. He steps up for Desi and Miri without hesitation, and while it’s insta-love on his end and typically I don’t like that trope, it works within this story’s flow.
Desi definitely got on my nerves at times, but her character growth throughout the book was well done. Faize showed her what true love really looks like, even if I wasn’t a fan of how she handled the whole Rodney situation.
One thing I especially enjoyed was how the author built her own world and brands. It added originality to the story. Overall, a great read that left me excited to pick up more of her work.
I'm a sucker for a man who's a great step dad so really this book was an easy winner for me. It also just happens to be an awesome story.
Faize is a boxer on the rise taking the people closest to him along with him. Desi is a single mom, going to school and like with her awful mom in hopes of making a better life for her daughter.
Faize and Desi meet and they immediately belong to each other. Desi struggles with issues with her trash ass baby daddy and terrible mom but through it all Faize is there to support her and her daughter.
This was my first book by this author and I loved it.
Ate this insta-love story up! From the very beginning, Faize was all about ‘we’, ‘us’ and ‘our’ and I loved it! Step daddy of the year! Sometimes, I wanted to shake Desi, but it helped with her character development. I LOVE how original and creative the author was with creating a whole new city, state and even name brands. I also felt like the author did her research and had details that are often overlooked.
He saw her wanted and he was that GUY!! Fmc got on my last nerve most of the story but she was truly damaged and that mom if hers... H no! However communication and the want if good love wins. This was my first by this author and will not be my last.
⭐️Rating: 5/5 I loved this sweet story! Faize fell for Desi at first sight. He showed her the true meaning of being loved my a man, even though he never experienced a relationship with a woman. Faize is the true definition of lover, provider, and protector. He took care of “his girls” from day one!
I loved his relationship with Desi’s daughter Miri and how he loved her as his own daughter. The writing style was easy to follow and the storyline was written well. Character development was good, and I didn’t notice any grammatical errors, and the story was interesting! Especially for someone like me that doesn’t necessarily follow sports.
This read was decent. It wasn’t anything exciting or original, but I was grateful for no killing, drug dealing, or kingpins. The characters were ok they were likeable enough. I don’t like when we don’t get the thoughts of the “enemy” in books, when it’s just one or 2 points of views the book seems to go in circles. I also wish the author would have allowed the MFC to coming into herself before meeting Faize. The girl was only 21 and when she irritated me with stupid dumb decisions I had to remember that to keep reading. There were times because of the MFC I wasn’t going to continue reading. Things like if u had $200 in the bank then why didn’t u just go get the cash out the bank and lay the daycare yourself? Why put yourself in a predicament to be hurt? That part frustrated me so bad. I feel like if we got to see her glow up and boss up on her own at least another year or so, it would have made for a better read. She wasn’t ready for a man like Faize and all it had to offer, she needed to grow up more. And all the damn crying was like omg girl 🤦🏿♀️🤦🏿♀️🤦🏿♀️. Other than that tbh the read got boring a lot. I had to skip so much to finish, because I wanted to see how it ended. Even though it was predictable and I pretty much knew how it was gone end. Awe and the whole Keisha situation could have been left out the storyline completely. It didn’t add anything to the story and it was pretty bland. Overall I would give this author another try. It was horrible but it wasn’t exciting either. 2.5 stars.
3.5 This is extremely well written and edited. I really enjoyed Faizon’s character and everyone should be lucky enough to have a man who loves them out loud as he did Děsí. My issues with this book is that he was TOO perfect, and really, had he been anyone else, Děsí would not be considered smart or a good mom. Taking your child out on a date with some dude you met a week ago is not it. Really, her mom was toxic but she was not wrong. Děsí did the same thing she did with Rodney. It’s just that she lucked out with Faize. Not only that, I like that Faizon felt connected to her early on, but taking an undergrad accounting student into million dollar contract negotiations because you trust her (again, you just met a little bit ago) was fantastical and had me rolling my eyes. And do newly minted boxers make that kind of money? I’m not about struggle love, but everything was just too perfect. With a little bit of realism injected into this, I would have easily given it five stars. I loved them as a family unit and I loved how Faize loved and defended Desi and Miri. Lastly, the sex was too clinical and that took away from the sexiness of it. I kind of skimmed after the first couple scenes.
Still, this author is very talented and I would read more by her.
I really enjoyed the book. What I didn’t like was how Desi dealt with the Rodney situations. Like for instance, when the daycare wouldn’t let Miri go to school due to nonpayment, instead of her going to the ATM to get cash to pay for the fee, she decided to go to her crazy deadbeat baby daddy for help? That wasn’t very smart of her. And then how she was all of a sudden so scared of him after he talked bad to her when she went to pick up the money but she mentioned the man hit her before and practically r*ped her but that didn’t scare her enough to stay away from him. And lastly, Desi said Rodney hadn’t been to any of the meet ups to see his daughter but she didn’t report it because she still wanted her daughter to see her grandmothers as if she couldn’t set up meetings with the grandmothers on her own. Smh. I just feel that a lot of stuff that happened with Rodney could have been avoided had Desirae moved smarter.
This story was absolutely perfect, Ghost knew at first interaction that Desi was going to be his everything. Yall know I’m a sucker for a step daddy romance and the way he stepped about Miri was simply everything.
I loved the lack of drama within their lover story, although Desi was younger she was very mature and the communication in this story was top tier.
Editing was also on point, it was truly refreshing to read a book without the presence of constant errors. Another refreshing point I loved about this story was the presence of condoms. I know this sounds trivial but whenever I read a story and a person just trust someone with their body on first encounter and a condom is not mentioned I cringe. It’s a serious ick for me and I’m happy the author added that bit of detail to the story.
This was my first read by this author and I just downloaded more of her work, I’m a fan…
Let me tell y’all Faize had me hooked, locked in, and absolutely in my feelings! If you love a protective, no-nonsense, alpha man, a woman handling business while juggling life, love, and drama, and a whole lot of grit, passion, and intensity, this one’s for you! From the jump, this story had me screaming! Finding love at an underground fight club, with your baby daddy right there watching? Oh, the AUDACITY! Desirae was that girl, balancing school, motherhood, and all the chaos life kept throwing her way. But when she crossed paths with Faize, whew, baby, things got real spicy, real fast. Faize was everything! A strong, dominant, yet loving man who knew exactly what he wanted and what he wanted was Desirae. He pursued her, claimed her, protected her, and didn’t hesitate to step up for her child like she was his own. And let’s not forget how he handled the haters, exes, and family drama that tried to shake their world. Let’s just say, if you came for his woman, you got checked immediately! The romance? 10/10. The drama? Juicy with a capital J! The boxing element? Gritty, intense, and had my heart racing! Jaimsss P. really gave us a story with soul, struggle, and steamy chemistry that felt so real and had me flipping pages like my life depended on it. If you love a story where a man steps up, a woman stands strong, and the love is raw and powerful, then go ahead and one-click this ASAP because Faize is IT!
Initially, I thought I was really going to enjoy this book because it appeared to be about a strong and driven single mom lead character who meets and eventually falls in love with a street dude turned boxer. Before I was midway through it though, I was frustrated by Desi's multiple immature actions over and over. Faize was honestly too good for her in my opinion. Then nonsensical things like basically her deadbeat baby daddy for $200 when she was living in a million dollar penthouse and dating a man worth 80 million dollars plus endorsements... Made absolutely NO sense!!! Overall, there were some things that I liked about this book and these characters, mainly Faze and Miri, but there were several things that made this less of a fan favorite for me. It was JUST OK.
This is a new to me author, I discovered on IG. The cover caught my attention and I’m so happy I gave it a shot.
Faize was full of the good stuff (drama, leveling up, etc). From page one the author had my attention and never let go. Although I’m not a fan of insta-love, this one worked for me. Just the introduction to Desi alone, had me rooting for her. So their vibe at the beginning made sense. I did think, Faize summarizing all the specific details about her relationship with Rodney so quickly was a stretch. From observing one “run in” he saw years of pain and fear. Possible, I guess.
Miri stole the show, what an adorable 4 y/o! Glad everyone got what they deserved. One kf my favorite romances to read is a woman glowing up on a hating a** ex. Especially if he was abusive. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
I was afraid I was never gonna get out of a reading slump😭 but thankfully this book pulled me out of one. I believe this is my first read by this author and it was amazing. Although Desi made a few stupid decisions in the beginning, it made sense because of who surrounded her—Rodney and her mother. Rodney giving himself the nickname Titan had me hollering, buddy real thought he was him fr lol. Anywho, I ain’t like how they treated my girl Miri, she deserves the world. Im so glad she was able to get the best father figure and love she deserved. I also loved how our characters met and how they were able to grow with one another—supporting each other in ways they least expected. Faize was a blessing in disguise and by far my favorite character in this book.
Will definitely be reading another book by this author
Insta love is really crazy but I ate this up lol. Faize a man of few words with the biggest BDE. I loved everything about him. Desi irked me with some of her antics but I definitely understood her reservations. Trusting a man you’ve known for 3 business days is wild but after some months (and a lot of putting his money where his mouth is) sis get with the program lol
This was my first read by this author and I’ll certainly be looking for more. It was well written, the storyline effortlessly flowed and the spice was tasteful in a way I didn’t know I’d appreciate. Omg and I cannot forgot the attention to detail in creating an entirely new city/state. At first I kept rereading like where tf is this lol then it just was so clever to me
Let me tell you Faizon Grey definitely has BDE! Faize was the new Heavyweight Champion but didn't carry himself like a Millionaire. He knew what he wanted and how he wanted. Desirae Douglas is a single parent and college student. Between her daughter's father and her mother I don't know who is worse. She is struggling and her only help is her Sister. Faizon wanted Desirae and he was going to do everything in his power to get her and his princess. I love how Faize supports Desirae and takes care of those that were there for him. I loved everything about this Story. I would definitely recommend reading this book. Jaimsss your pen is Amazing 👏🏾.
This is my first time reading this author! I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline. Faize and Desi were meant to be together! Two vulnerable people looking for love and didn't even know it! I love how Faize took care of the ones he loved! Mani and Nic were just as cute together! I love how Mo, Faize, and Nic became family, and blood couldn't make them any stronger together! Now, Mari and Mani mama need to get so.e help, too mean. I love how Faize just adopted Desi daughter Miri before they even became serious, he understood accepting Desi, meant accepting her daughter. Loved the epilogue
Faize knew that Desi was going to be his from the moment that he laid eyes on her and Miri was an added bonus. Rodney was just a trifling bülly and I really wanted him go down way before he did to prove to everyone that he was all talk without any real smoke. Desi got on my nerves for not trusting her man and I was glad that Faize was always there even when she tried to handle things on her own. I thought Blue and Gina was going to have something going on because they needed some luvin too. I love the fact that they got to have another baby and they named him to honor Faize’s late father and brother.
This was okay. I love a good instalove story, but this felt weird reading it at the very beginning. Love faize - he was standing by his words that it was love at first sight for him with Desirae and keep proving it actions and words. Desirae was okay in my opinion - like you feel good enough to trust this man to be around your daughter and move you into a new home, but don’t trust him to fight for your daughter when your deadbeat come knowing about custody? I get that she had an awful childhood and the baby daddy didn’t help, but that was a weird plot line to make in the book to me. But loved Miri, her and faize relationship was so cute.
I love a good boxing romance. This wasn’t as gritty as I thought it’d be, and was pretty predictable, which is fine because it still was a nice ride. I was a bit frustrated with the FMC at times because from Day 1, Faize said “you’re mine, I got your back, you & your daughter deserve the world and I’m going to give it to you” AND he backed it up👏🏾Yet Desi (FMC) still fought him on it for longer than I liked. But I get it. If you’re used to having to being independent & not used to a man with pure intentions showing up for you & your child, you’ll fight it (& potentially self sabotage). Plus she was young lol. Her mom and baby dad needed more done to them IMO!
I absolutely loved this book! It was beautifully written, with just the right touch of drama—not too much, not too little. I especially appreciated how the story didn’t rely on excessive back-and-forth conflict, which can sometimes bog a plot down. Instead, it had a smooth and engaging flow that kept me invested from start to finish. This is the kind of book that leaves you with a warm, feel-good vibe. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for an uplifting and enjoyable read!
I messed with this book super heavy. Desi was used to toxic, and it was hard for her to lower her defenses, especially when it came to Miri. Her love forever, her daughter, had her enduring things that broke my heart. I am happy she had her sister and determination because BABY....
Insert Faize and all the wishes come true. She fights him at every turn, but he stands on business. There was nothing he wouldn't do for his girls. I was here for everything.
LOVED THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IN THIS BOOK. IT WAS SWEET, WITH A LITTLE SPICE 🌶️🌶️🌶️ on the spice level. Loved Faizon, he loved his girl but was level headed, driven. Desi was also driven, and never gave up on her dreams. Which I liked. Too many books the girl throws her dreams and character out the window as soon as she gets dickmatized. Would have loved sommore smut scenes, but I'm a sucker for smut. Or SCF (Stone Cold F***in) 😆😆 But I loved the writing style, worth the read.
First time reading from this author and I can’t wait to read more from this author. This was such an amazing read. It captured me from the very beginning. I loved Faize and how he did everything to show Miri that he is and will always be the perfect man for her and their daughter. I loved Miri. She’s such a strong women to be able to put with her disgusting baby daddy. Their daughter was such a joy to read about and her growth and how she warmed Faizes heart. Highly recommend and I will definitely be checking out her other books.
Oh my goodness I was not prepared! This book was sooooo good. Jaimsss P. is a NTMA I saw recommended and gave her a shot and now I'm ready to dive back into her catalog! I loved absolutely everything about this book. Faize is definitely bae and Desi is now another sister wife I've added to my loooong list🤭🤷🏾♀️
If you've read any of my past reviews you'll know I love books with adorable kids and Miri was the spotlight of this book for me. Now don't get me wrong the connection between Faize and Desi was something special and the way he was coming behind her was sexy; yet intentional. However, the way they fought for their family and kept Miri in the forefront were the best parts. Faize laid eyes on Desi and was automatically on go. Desi had some hiccups and apprehension but with her past that was understandable but when she got her head right she was ready to fight for her man and what they were building.
I'm writing this review right after finishing the book because the way I fell in love with these characters couldn't be contained! This author had me so entranced that there were moments I forgot I was reading; I was so immersed in the book. I definitely need a book for Nico and Mani to see how they got to where they are. This book had so many facets I was glad to see the snakes get what they deserved however there is one who didn't get enough in my eyes so I need that handled expeditiously. As I've stated before this was a great book and this author has gained a new reader!
Desirae was in a bad situation, a baby by a deadbeat controlling lowlife, a mother who knew nothing about support and just overwhelmed with life. One glance from Fazion Gray was all it took. He locked in and never let go. He took on the task of being her and Amiria's protector, provider and peace. They truly fell in love and the rest was history!
I would have expected there to be a lot of security so that Rodney and stupid Keisha couldn't torment them or almost kill Desi, but other than that an excellent read!
