Met this author at the Phoenix Fan Fusion convention and thought the story sounded interesting.

I enjoyed it!

It's like a sci-fi/fantasy/anime/action story - think of firefly with gods of the universe and a young boy set out on a grand adventure to save the universe. My favorite character is obviously Magnet, the old grumpy uncle. It's filled with humor, and is action packed. The beginning starts off fast, slows just a bit in the middle to build the story, and finishes with even bigger action.

Without giving too much away, there's a fight to save the universe. Good vs evil. We get glimpses of the universes "guardians." The Big Bad is taking over planets and the young protagonist finds a sword and is thrust into the conflict. There are good guys and bad guys, each with their own past, troubles, and motivations revealed throughout the book. I enjoyed the characters. With the good vs evil theme, there are some poignant/unique observations/lines sprinkled in, kind of like a nice bow to wrap up the meaning.

This is the first in the series, but Paul the author, said more will be coming. There were a couple typo's, not many, but it didn't detract from the story. There were some flashbacks, or changes in scenes/events that confused me until I went back and reread a paragraph or two to figure out there was a change, but this also didn't detract from the story.

I will continue to read this series. It's a good story with humor. I am eager to follow the authors career and see his writing style develop and flourish. I hope he keeps it up and comes out with the next book soon!
