Also great as a standalone read, comes the seductive sequel to Gail McGuire’s thought-provoking novel What If I Told You.

Gail McGuire doubted she would ever write a book. She had been an intrepid tomboy, a free-spirited young adult, had outstanding children who produced superb grandchildren, and achieved a successful career in Information Management. A psychic, her friends, and children told her she would write a book. And so, she tried. Now she is the author of four books: a childhood memoir, two novels of supernatural suspense, and a historical fiction novel. Gail was born and raised in Southeast Idaho and has lived in Seattle, WA, Las Vegas, NV, and Santa Fe, NM. Gail currently resides in Las Vegas with her family. Visit gmfreedombooks.com
Remember What I Told You is an intriguing and gripping novel, that serves as a perfect continuation for What If I Told You, a book that I also had the privilege to be an early reader for. Paranormal and Suspense genres blend in a perfect mix, in a way that’s even better than in the previous installment, addressing the topic of PTSD from Helane’s past situation not only in great detail, but with a quite original execution too in this dual life we see Helane live (I won’t get into further detail to prevent spoilers!). The author succeeds at playing mind games with the reader, I was constantly trying to discern what was the truth and what was a product of Helane’s imagination. Putting the pieces of this puzzle together was such an enjoyable experience.
This is a story that has great potential to keep expanding, and I’d love to see it continue in a third installment. Remember What I Told You did not disappoint in making justice to the high expectations I had based on the first book, highly recommend everyone to give this book a chance!
Note: I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Gail McGuire has did it again. We join Helena as she strugles to confront her trauma and PTSD from Eddie and his family. Helena grapples with the reality of her connection to Laney and her growing feelings for Shane. Gail McGuire interconnects suspense, supernatural, and romance into this book. It was an intriguing read
After reading and enjoying, ‘What If I Told You,’ I was excited to read Gail McGuire’s book 2 in the series. This book continues the story – and had me on the edge of my seat as the drama gradually unfolded.
This is a supernatural suspense story that finds Helane home recovering from the murderous acts of her ex-husband which left her comatose. Helane is determined to regain her life though her mental state is being challenged. Why is she experiencing visions of her other self, Laney. And what do Laney’s cryptic messages of warning mean? Feeling lost and vulnerable, Helane agrees to therapy under the care of her psychiatrist Della.
A fast-paced twisty plot, well-written throughout. Thoroughly enjoyable, emotional and immersive to the last page.
Having read the first in the series (What If I Told You) and loved it, I was excited to read Gail McGuire’s second book, Remember What I Told You. I loved this book as well and I highly recommend it. You will love the characters, and the story is remarkable. There is intrigue, some interesting paranormal aspects, likeable characters, and a love story intermingled in the mix. This second book continues the journey of Helene Hagan as she recovers from almost being murdered by her ex-husband and surviving a horrible car crash instigated by him. The crash lands her in the hospital in a coma. She eventually recovers, and this is where this second book begins as she deals with the residual PTSD and some fascinating psychic visions that haunt her but also guide her on the road to recovery. The story is filled with tension and thrilling action as her life is turned upside down by a deceitful psychiatrist determined to drive Helene insane at the bidding of the ex-husband. The storyline is well-balanced with the love and care of family and friends as they battle to bring Helene safely home and into the loving arms of Shane, her loyal friend and love interest.
Having read the first book in this series, I was keen to read this one. I wasn't disappointed. It's an excellent read. With much loved characters from the first book, it took me on an emotional journey of intrigue. I so wanted a positive outcome for the heroine and her boyfriend Shane. Well done Gail, you have another winner. Highly recommended!
I can't remember the last time I finished a book in a day but this one kept me flipping page after page until I reached the end. The suspense is amazing and paced just right. The writing is very well done. Gail truly crafted a masterpiece with this story.
Enjoyable, gripping story! I read ‘What if I Told You’ by Gail McGuire last year and was looking forward to reading book 2. ‘Remember What I Told You’ didn’t disappoint. Filled with tension and suspense, this story takes you on a rollercoaster ride of twists and turns as Helane struggles with PTSD and tries to cope with her mental state and the panic attacks that plague her. A great psychological thriller that will keep you gripped throughout!
After the events of the last book, Laney has now recovered from her coma. The same cannot be said for Helane though. In the alternative world, Helane’s mental state comes into question when she continues to experience major anxiety attacks and the fact that she can still see Laney makes her psychiatrist think that she is delusional. But is it really delusions, or is she really psychic, or is someone playing sinister mind games with her. As her mental state continues to fracture it’s up to boyfriend Shane and her friends and family, and even Laney, to work out what’s going and come to her rescue. But when she gets cryptic messages that just say “Don’t believe it” who or what can Helene trust. This is a well crafted, imaginative, thought provoking and multi layered story with a hint of psychological thriller about it. The book is a real page turner and the suspense kept we intrigued throughout. The book had a satisfying conclusion but I do wonder if we will saw more of Helene or Laney in the future. I would definitely be up to reading that.
This is book 2 in Gail Mcguire's series. It is an intriguing book that follows Halene as she is trying to recover from the PDSD and the trauma she has suffered from Eddie and his family from book one. Because of this past trauma, she experiences visions that she can't seem to distinguish from reality. It's as though she can't trust what is happening around her. The one thing that remains tried and true is her love for Shane. He always seems to be there and acts as her true north when everything else around her is in shambles. Follow Halene/Laney as she embarks on a journey of healing that will either prove helpful or hinder her progress and lead her into the realm of madness. This book examines the power of the mind and lengths a person will go to to prove that not everything is what it seems. It's definitely worth a read!
Although this could be read as a standalone, you get far more out of this story if you read ‘What if I Told You’ first. Set mainly in Helane’s ‘reality’ in this book, we still get some glimpses of Laney’s world. Very heavy on the psychological thriller in this book, though still with a good amount of supernatural suspense. Helane is really put through the mixer in this one. Was that a glimpse of a potential book 3 near the end? Loved it.
I was interested to read the second book in Gail McGuire’s series, and it wasn’t a disappointment. It’s a well thought out sequel. It contains all the ingredients for a tense, psychological thriller—evil, dichotomies, tension, a sense of dread. A very gripping tale and recommended read.
Paranormal versus reality, a deep dive into one's consciousness The story kept me intrigued throughout. Gail's hooks from chapter to chapter make it difficult to put down. Especially from chapter 7 on. I was able to relate to the action very early in the novel as it is so easy to picture and it reminds me of how I deal with a PTSD episode. I like how you don’t make the main character seem odd for going through this, and you show her strength. Some of the emotion driven scenes gave me chills. The "feels" in this novel are frequent and heartfelt. I laughed and cried, so be prepared to feel what the characters feel. There were a few passages that as a Veteran I was able to relate to, especially between the characters who served in Vietnam together. The suicidal thoughts and tendencies are heart wrenching, so be prepared. Shane is my favorite character in this sequel; No matter what his loyalty doesn’t falter, his love for Helane is steadfast, his patience is extraordinarily long, and his sense of self and character is obvious to all. Gail hit this one out of the park again!
I messed up with this one and read the second book before the first. I’d advise reading them in order, but that didn’t detract from the story at all, and I will certainly be going back to read book one in the series.
This is an emotional story that dares to ask: What if healing doesn’t come from forgetting? Set in Idaho during the late 1970s, Helane’s path to recovery after an accident isn’t linear, it spirals through ethereal glimpses of unrelenting conflict. Helane is teetering on the edge of perception, where trauma, spiritual insight, and emotional tension blur in tormenting ways.
The book straddles realism and the mystical without losing its emotional grounding. Helane’s visions are intimate, but are they a key to her survival or her undoing? The reader’s questioning keeps the suspense burning. The novel pulses through the chaos with a thread of resilience, love, and eventual clarity. This book is a rich psychological drama with supernatural shadings that hits the spot nicely. Another cracking read from this author.
I love the unexpected direction this story went, with Helane continuing to have visions but questioning her sanity. Helane’s mental breakdown is frighteningly convincing. Though the reader knows she’s not insane, Helane does not suspect that someone she trusts is responsible for her neurosis, and this dichotomy between the MCs and reader’s knowledge gives the story an edgy tension. The characters are all extremely well-drawn, especially the new villain, Cade, who’s out for Shane’s blood. With the evil Brayson family still lurking in the background, this novel is a rollercoaster of motives and emotions, and the author builds the suspense wonderfully all the way up to the gripping showdown. Highly recommended.
