The rules were simple… following them just got complicated.

Colter

Doctor Richard Keeton is the closest thing to a father figure I have ever known. He single-handedly guided my medical career with plans to appoint me as Chief of Surgery upon his retirement. So when he asks for a favor, who am I to say no—even if that favor means sabotaging his own daughter’s surgical career.

It should have been easy. Mentor his young, entitled daughter through her residency. Put up with her spoiled demands and work her so hard she quits the field.

But I wasn’t prepared for Annaliese Keeton.

She’s not spoiled or entitled. She’s beautiful, snarky, and has a strength inside of her that brought new meaning to my life. She’s everything I thought I’d never find in a woman… and everything I know I can’t have.

Falling for her means betraying the only person I consider family. How can I choose between the man who gave me everything, who holds my professional future in the palm of his hand, and his daughter who now holds my heart?

The Bind is a steamy, contemporary romance novel between a grumpy, older surgical attending and a second year resident, who just happens to be the boss’s daughter.

ARC REVIEW
Releases 5/28

Thank you, Laura Beth, for this ARC for my honest review! This was my first book I've read of hers, and it definitely won't be my last. I absolutely loved our FMC, Annaliese. She was sweet and sassy. Colter, our MMC, is a huge grump in the beginning, but in the end, he's a huge softy. I loved the Diabetes and Mental Health rep. It was less than 300 pages, so I was able to get it read in a day! If you're a fan of Grey's Anatomy and you're looking for a book that gives those vibes, I definitely recommend you give this a read. If you're a fan of age gaps and/or grumpy x sunshine, you will love this as well!

• Medical Romance
• Caretaking MMC
• Diabetes rep
• Age gap
• Resident/Attending
• Boss' daughter
• Forced proximity

The way I have been feral to start this book! And Laura Beth did not disappoint! I had the pleasure of getting a sneak peek at some chapters a little early, and I thought I loved what I read then! But getting to see it all come together was absolute perfection. Laura did such an incredible job not only with the Type 1 diabetes rep, but also with portraying life after years of self-harm and doubt. It was beautifully handled. And between these two topics, she really gave us two wonderful characters that so many people will be able to relate to.

Let's talk characters:

Colt! My man. Although he started off as an absolute GRUMP (which is always my favorite), the way his character quickly shifted from standoffish to caregiver was my favorite part of this book! The shift is fast and so well done. Gosh. Between making sure she kept her sugar levels up on her busy workdays to FEEDING her, I was swooning so hard for this man!

Annaliese! Hands down, one of my favorite character names right now—it suited her so perfectly. There was something so effortlessly graceful and quietly strong about her, and I fell in love with the way her character unfolded. She had such a soft resilience that pulled me in from the start. Watching her bloom under Colt’s care and gentle attention was everything. He never tried to dim her light; he only helped her shine brighter. Their connection felt so genuine. I couldn’t get enough of her journey and how she slowly let herself be seen, loved, and cherished the way she truly deserved.

If you’re looking for a heartfelt medical romance that blends tenderness with real-life struggles, and leaves you feeling like you just healed a little too. This book is for you.

I typically won’t rate books I don’t finish because I think it’s unfair to the author and people reading reviews but now and then I come across a book that warrants a rating despite it being a DNF. The issue that enraged me was within the first chapter the MMC refers to the woman he picked up at the bar as a bimbo and slut then proceeds to make nasty comments on her appearance. Maybe the character goes on to have an epiphany and realizes slut shaming women for being sexually active and criticizing their bodies is a dick move but I’ll have no idea because I couldn’t move past this. I have no issue with characters sleeping around but it’s 2025 and romance authors should know better and do better than writing a slut shaming main character.

✨ARC REVIEW✨

Well, I mean of course I loved it. It's Laura freaking Beth!

I would love to end my review right there because it's quite accurate but I'm incapable of telling a quick story.

I don't know how Laura does it but she always manages to capture my attention and have me drooling over the MMC. Colter is an age gap romance lovers dream. Between his initial attitude, witty sass, salt and pepper hairline, and a body built for SZA's Big Boy music video, I truly fell in love with this man. IT ALSO just so happens that I loved the FMC, Annaliese, as well. A beautifully written character who I really wanted to see get what she wanted in the end.

I love that not only did we get a sweet and spicy romance, but we got a really emotional read as well. Laura really made this book something special. I loved how emotional these characters got. They both have broken, or traumatic, pasts that they want to escape from and it added such depth to not just the storylines, but the characters themself.

I loved that in a world of feeling lonely, they had each other.

Plot alone, this was great. I loved the boss' daughter meets forbidden romance. I loved the grumpy doctor being a jerk to his boss' daughter to convince her she's not cut out for this field. I loved HOW DAMN SOFT THIS MAN GOT FOR HER. This man and his words...oof, I wasn't ready. And if words weren't enough, HIS ACTIONS - LORD HELP US.

I loved their conversations and I loved the diabetic representation. As someone who lives with two people who live day to day with this disease, I really felt Laura did it justice. Of course, everyone reacts to theirs differently but I've seen firsthand what someone who has really low sugar days goes through as well as really high sugar days. I really felt like this added such value to Annaliese's storyline...and the book as well.

There are a few scenes in this book that stuck with me. I don't want to spoil one of them buttttt it has to do with sweets. And then there is THE scene. YOU KNOW THE SCENE, LAURA. THE ONE I CONVINCED YOU TO WRITE. YES, YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST FOLKS!!! COLTER AND HIS TIE. YOU ARE ALL WELCOME MY FRIENDS. LET'S FREAKING GO. Laura...thank you or whatever.

Oh, also, I loved how this ended. I love the choices that were made. I loved the epilogues.

I mean, I could keep going but I think we get it - I loved it.

THANK YOU BESTIE, LAURA BETH, FOR THE ARC COPY <3 THIS IS NO WAY A BIASED REVIEW. I swear...

I was completely blown away with how much I enjoyed The Bind by Laura Beth. Just my 2nd of her novels, I’ll definitely keep an eye on upcoming releases in the Grace General series, as well as any new books by her. A stand alone possibly in the series since this takes place at Grace General Hospital as well. Told in dual narration, cold and arrogant Colter is a prominent surgeon whose retiring mentor asks him a favor in the way of making life at Grace General so miserable for his daughter, Dr. Annaliese Kenton that she’ll quit her surgery residency and do a more female specialty. Such chauvinistic bs but the thought of being the next Chief is enough to convince Colt to agree. Of course the sparks flew wildly every time they were near each other, and as they spend more time together they both realize who they thought the other person was, isn’t who they truly are. I loved Anna and her need to give service to those in need. She is the kind of doctor our society needs more of that isn’t power and money centric. Steamy scenes, and very funny banter kept the pacing of the story flowing. No OW drama or any serious triggers, but there is autoimmune representation and what it is to deal with in a long day at the hospital for Anna. She has diabetes and the lengths she has to go to monitor her insulin were an eye opener for me so I appreciated that knowledge. Author is nurse and her knowledge bled through.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you so much, Laura Beth!

“Colter Andrews has become my addiction, and I’d give up nearly everything for another hit.”

Before I even get into the story, let me just say I was already in awe of Laura after reading the author’s note. She made sure the experiences portrayed in the book were as real and accurate as possible and that was truly incredible.

I fell in love with Laura’s writing last year and devoured her Grace General series in like four days, so believe me when I say I was dying to get my hands on this new book—and she delivered spectacularly.

Annaliese and Colter have all my heart! Annaliese was such a breath of fresh air! I loved her instantly. She never backed down and was so determined. Like I said, a true breath of fresh air! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Laura writes the best book boyfriends, and Colt is no exception. He’s just 😮‍💨. I lost count of how many times I found myself giggling and kicking my feet. Oof, I missed that feeling so much! In the first couple of chapters I thought, “There’s no way she’ll make me like this man,” and wow I couldn’t have been more wrong!

I loved how their relationship evolved so naturally. You could really see things shifting between them, and I ate that up. I couldn’t put this book down, I was absolutely obsessed. The forbidden aspect of their relationship and the age gap were handled so beautifully and realistically, in my opinion. That’s exactly what I look for when I pick up books with these tropes, and this one absolutely nailed it.

No pressure, but I really hope there’s more where this came from!

Dr. Colter Andrews owes it all to his mentor, fellow Dr. Richard Keeton (who also happens to be a misogynist prick but Colt doesn’t quite see it). When Dr. Keeton’s daughter Annaliese comes to work as a resident at the hospital, Keeton tasks Colt with overseeing her and basically making her life hell so she foregoes her dream to become a surgeon (see also: misogynistic prick). Colt tries his best to make Annaliese miserable but she disarms him in a day, and he realizes she is a powerful bad ass and exceptional surgeon. Oh also he wants her BAYUD. When they finally learn their feelings for each other are mutual, things get real smexy. Then together they figure out how to stick it to the misogynistic prick and sail off into the sunset of their love.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Welp, I was hooked from page one. This isn’t a novella but it’s not terribly long and these two had me in a damn chokehold. The first chapter had me like 😳 with the amount of sexism and misogynistic behavior of the men in this hospital, but then Annaliese comes bounding in, being a total bad ass, making it clear women are the superior gender. Bless.

I really do enjoy medical dramas and this one brought a good amount of medicine to the page. It was enjoyable and obvious that the author works in the medical field.

Another thing I loved about this book is that there’s a decent age gap here (14 yrs) and it is not a focal point of the story. It’s acknowledged, sure, but it’s not beaten over the head. Many age gap books make that a central tension and - I must continue to beat this drum - if the age difference is a big tension point in your relationship, you maybe shouldn’t be in it? The most real truth as a person who exists in a 10 year age gap marriage is that it is not noticeable or relevant at all to our daily life. (Literally the only time it matters is when we are doing our retirement planning.)

This is a sexy, spicy read that goes down easy (JUST LIKE COLT, AMIRITE?). Highly recommend hitting this one up if you need a palate cleanser. I ate it up.

Also I loved seeing the names of some of my Booksta pals in the acknowledgments! Thank you for your contributions to this steam dream.

I have entered my Dad Bod Era and it is all Laura's fault. She writes such sexy sexy men, who are the biggest softies for their women. Add in the dad bod, age gap and grey hairs around the temple and OMG have you got yourself the sexiest man. Laura Beth knows how to write them.

I have been CHOMPING AT THE MF'ING BIT to get my hands on this one. She has been teasing us for MONTHS and did she ever deliver. This book just shows how far she has come in her writing journey and she's only getting better. This book has just the right pacing, chemistry and character development to keep you hooked from page 1.

Colter Andrews is so deliciously grumpy but such a softie for Annaliese. He is to mentor her during her surgical residency at the insistence of her estranged father Richard Keeton, who can suck a big bag of dicks. He's a waste of space and has quite the attitude towards his daughter's capabilities as a surgeon and women in general. Colt is to make Annaliese miserable and in turn, make her change specialties. Well, that doesn't happen because our boy falls OH SO HARD.

Annaliese is such a freaking ray of sunshine, despite her father's inattention, neglect and at times cruelty during her childhood. She weathers Colt's harsh and grumpy exterior, somehow knowing there's a softie underneath. She can her own against those who doubt her and soon proves just how capable she is.

If you haven't read her Grace General series, YOU NEED TO. THEY'RE ON KU, YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE. This book is a complete standalone and not part of the Grace General series but there is a cameo or two in the book that will get us fans smiling. Grab this book and settle in for some yummy thick boi thighs and an ass that won't quit.

Baby’s first Laura Beth! 😍

Loved this story of Annalise and Colt — it’s a unique premise with them being a resident and attending, respectively, putting a fun medical spin on boss/employee romances.

This story gave me all the feels - every emotion. The writing was so compelling and strong — and the balance Laura Beth found in the transformation of this romance was truly so so good.

Colt is broody and closed off — until his “Annie” turns his world upside down with not only her huge heart and amazing personality — but also her insane competency and dedication to her craft as a surgeon. Not at all what he was expecting and WE ARE HERE FOR IT.

The spice was impeccable. The story arc felt realistic and intriguing. The diabetes (T1) rep was super interesting and made for some truly sweet moments. And watching this two overcome all the hurdles in their path to find their forever love was just THE BEST.

This was my first LB book — it won’t be my last!

Thanks so much for this arc, Laura Beth!

The Bind by Laura Beth is a grumpy/sunshine, age-gap, boss’ daughter workplace romance that delivers on all fronts!

Not only was the writing fantastic, but the medicine side of the story is fairly accurate and well depicted, from the FMC’s diabetes to the general surgery cases briefly discussed. This was both refreshing and credible!

The chemistry between the main characters and the tension were perfect, and the witty banter was top notch – playful, sharp and charming!

This was my first book by this author, but it definitely won’t be my last! This gave me Grey’s Anatomy vibes in the best way! If you're looking for a smart, steamy, emotionally satisfying medical romance with heart and humor, The Bind is a must-read.

*I received this book as an ARC*

Let me just start by saying each book Laura Beth writes makes me fall harder in love with the Grace General universe. This book can be read as a standalone and can be your first introduction into her world if you haven’t read any other Grace Gen books.

By the end of the book I thought Annaliese and Colter were such wonderful people inside and out, and I was so happy I got to read about them going from strangers to soulmates. I also really enjoyed seeing another angle of Grace Gen - not only the change of perspective (female dr/resident) but also the change of department/specialty (surgery).

This may be my favorite Laura Beth book yet and I’m already ready to read it again! It’s written so well, the conflict is believable and relatable. Both characters struggle with their families for different reasons and I felt their pain and frustration through the pages. Their connection was immediately fire and I ate up their tension and chemistry. Seriously ….the tension. I thought my kindle was going to combust.

There is nothing I love more than a grumpy man who is only soft for her - and Colt is the epitome of a squishy center just for his girl. I am down bad for that man. And I hardly ever have feelings one way or the other about FMCs but Annaliese is my all-time favorite FMC. Her snark, her attitude, her confidence (on the outside at least) makes me want to BE her. I love how she handled all of the challenges that Colt threw her way. She’s a funny, sarcastic, intelligent woman and those are my favorite kind.

Bravo, Laura. Thank you for writing this book!

📕Book Review📕
Is there any book that Laura Beth writes that I won’t immediately try to make my personality? It’s looking like no. I had the joy of beta reading this book, and let me tell you-it was essentially flawless. No notes.

Age gap, boss’s daughter, making assumptions about people we don’t know and then falling for them so hard you’ll risk everything, a man getting his cookie while giving his girl hers? Yes. All of it. No one and I mean NO ONE writes a slow burn with tension and build up and pining and the equivalent of a Mr. Darcy hand clench that will carry you through a chapter about surgery with interest like Laura Beth. This delivered and had substance, emotion, and satisfying spice.

👋 Therapist Take: This book took on so many deep feelings and with grace and care, surviving trauma, the loss of a parent and the acceptance that our parents are flawed and may not be willing or capable of being a healthy presence in our life. Disenfranchised grief is sometimes hardest because the sting of rejection from the living can be a daily challenge, a constant ache. Annaliese was a fierce FMC, and Colt was a man learning to accept himself and to filter through the noise of someone riding on his coat tails and blocking his way. Gosh, the connection and true care they showed each other was healing for me as a reader to see, the emotion and messages clear and valuable. Read the book. Stat. That’s the review.

A lot of mixed feelings about this one.

1) I liked Annalise a lot - smart and feisty
2) colt is an ass and while we do come to understand why he is the way he is and that there is a softness to him, it doesn’t take away from the fact that he is an ass to most people
3) storyline had a lot of potential and the whole diabetes related representation was well done, esp the role is played in the book
4) i appreciated how the relationship develops over time… that said,
5) a lot of the storyline plays off screen. Most of the onscreen stuff after the 60% mark is almost all sex scenes. I love a steamy book but not at the cost of the story. Too much sex and not enough substance (only one of the scenes is really critical to the storyline and I will say it’s done really well)
6) Africa is not a country. At some point, Madagascar is mentioned. But mostly, the references are to “Africa”. I get she’s on a ship and ports at different countries but the representation of “Africa” irritated me as per usual. Why do WW writers do this so much?

Overall, I enjoyed it but felt it didn’t live up to its potential. High rating is likely bc of all the steam. It is entertaining and recommended for Grey’s Anatomy and General Hospital fans. 🤣

Sorry but I’m not going to be convinced to like this MMC. He knows his mentor is a disgusting sexist and cheater but still looks up to him. Loser behavior (especially in your 40s). Should have DNFd but have like the authors other books so I stupidly kept reading.

Also, why is the FMCs name almost the same as an iconic TV character?!? Threw me off the whole time.

Huge thank you to Laura Beth for the advanced copy of The Bind! Medical romances are a completely new genre for me, but after this powerful and heartfelt read, I am officially hooked.

Annalise is a phenomenal protagonist—smart, fierce, and determined to make it on her own terms. From the start, she knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to stand up to anyone who tries to limit her, especially not her emotionally manipulative father, Richard. Watching her navigate sexism, family expectations, and the high-pressure world of surgery while managing her diabetes was both heartbreaking and inspiring. Her resilience is unmatched, and I adored her.

Colter was not someone I warmed to immediately. His early attitude mirrors Richard’s dismissiveness, and I was skeptical—but wow, what a transformation. As his walls come down, we see a deeply caring, loyal, and vulnerable man who chooses to grow. His tenderness toward Annalise, especially during her diabetic crash, was such a turning point. And his willingness to support her ambitions—even when they might take her far away from him—was genuinely moving.

The romance is a slow burn in the best way: perfectly paced, emotionally grounded, and full of chemistry. Watching Colter and Annalise go from reluctant colleagues to friends to lovers was incredibly satisfying. They’re two complex people carrying their own scars—Annalise with her health and family trauma, Colter with his depression and past abuse—but together, they create a safe space to heal and thrive.

I also loved how the book tackled heavy themes like toxic family dynamics, mental health, and sexism in medicine with care and nuance. The emotional payoff, especially with Colter finally confronting Richard, was powerful and well-earned.

The Bind is more than just a romance—it’s a story of resilience, healing, and finding love that makes you stronger. It’s beautifully written, emotionally rich, and completely unputdownable. If you love slow-burn romance with depth, strong heroines, and emotional stakes, this one’s for you.

Highly recommend!

ARC Review - I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own. This book will be released on 5/28.

“The rules were simple…following them just got complicated” 🌶️
Laura Beth I can not thank you or praise you enough for this book! This was the first book I’ve read by her, and I can’t wait to dive into the rest. This book gives you a Grey’s Anatomy vibe and enemies to lovers story line with an age gap. It also covers on topics like diabetes and mental health.

Colter and Annaliese have my heart! Colter is mentoring Annaliese during her residency at the hospital her father works at (who happens to be Colt’s boss). Colter is a professionally driven guy with a dark past and appears to be a huge grump. Annaliese rocks his world when she enters the hospital. She is determined and never backs down from what she believes in. I loved watching (yes I said watching, this entire book play out like a movie in my head from the very first page to the last) their relationship evolve naturally from enemies to two people who wanted to secretly always be around each other. I couldn’t put this book down, I wanted to devour it all in one sitting.

“Sweetheart look at me” had me wrecked and kicking my legs up in the air. I love how he was grumpy and hard towards everyone, but to her he had the softest side, he not only showed that in his words but also his actions. They both have issues from their dark pasts that they want to escape, but when they are together they didn’t feel alone or isolated from the world, they helped fix the parts of each other someone else broke.

This book was sweet with a mix of spice. It was also emotional and the character development was beautiful. I hope to read more about these characters in the future!

I’m such a sucker for medical romances and this did not disappoint. Absolutely devoured this. You can definitely tell the research that went into this, and as a medical professional I greatly appreciate when it’s accurate.
Annaliese is the chief surgeons daughter who came back from doing her residency overseas after her funding fell through, to work under her father. Hoping it might bring them a little closer.
Colter has been working under Annaliese’s father for years and looks up to him. After a difficult past, he never had much of a family for support. When her father asks him to make Annaliese’s life hell during her time there, he initially agrees. But from the first moment they meet, everything he had been told about her didn’t quite add up. She is driven, knowledgeable and confident. His cold exterior completely shatters are her. He becomes obsessed.
Since she is working under him, they spend a lot of time together and Colter starts to question her father’s motives. As the past comes to light of how her father treated her and her mother growing up, Colter and Annaliese become closer. The way he is there for her, cares for her and makes such changes in his life for her are absolutely swoon worthy. You can feel how much he cares for her, and the banter between them is extremely delicious when it comes to the spicy stuff. I highly recommend reading this!

A forbidden hospital romance with all the tension! 🩺

Grumpy attending x boss’s daughter resident? Yes please. ☁️☀️

Age gap, workplace stakes, and so much slow-burn angst. ❤️‍🔥

If you love emotional chemistry and Grey’s Anatomy vibes, this one’s for you! 🏩🩺

Resume:
The Bind by Laura Beth is a contemporary medical romance that delves into the complexities of forbidden love within a high-stakes hospital environment. The story centers on a grumpy, older surgical attending and a second-year resident, who also happens to be the boss’s daughter. Their professional relationship is tested as they navigate the challenges of a workplace romance, complicated further by their age difference and hierarchical positions.

Review:
The Bind is a steamy, slow-burn romance that pulses with tension, vulnerability, and forbidden attraction. Laura Beth delivers a heartfelt and engaging story set in the high-pressure world of hospital life, where power dynamics and emotions collide. The romance between the gruff attending and the ambitious second-year resident (who just so happens to be the boss’s daughter) is laced with both tenderness and professional conflict, making every interaction feel loaded with unspoken stakes.

Beth’s writing captures the emotional push-pull of a workplace romance perfectly, giving readers a thoughtful look at the intersection of duty, hierarchy, and desire. While the age gap trope is handled with nuance, some plot points may feel a little predictable—but the emotional payoff and chemistry more than make up for it.

Annaliese is a surgeon doing her residency in Africa, helping those in need, until her father—chief of surgery at a Chicago hospital—cuts her funding. His offer? Come home, complete six months at his hospital, and he’ll pay for her to return to Africa. Sounds reasonable… until you realize her dad is the absolute worst. He doesn’t want her to be a surgeon at all, simply because she’s a woman. And to sabotage her further, he recruits Coltor, a general surgery attending and someone he’s mentored for 15 years, to convince her to quit.
I hated Coltor at first. Like, truly couldn’t stand him. I even considered DNFing because I didn’t think he could ever redeem himself or deserve Annaliese. But I kept reading—and I’m so glad I did. As the story unfolds, we learn more about Coltor’s past and what made him the way he is. Watching him change and grow because of Annaliese was incredibly satisfying.
And Annaliese? She’s amazing. Smart, strong, and determined—everything you want in a heroine, especially in a male-dominated field. I loved seeing a woman thrive in medicine despite the people trying to tear her down.
This was definitely more romance than medical, which I was totally okay with. The spice doesn’t really kick in until the second half, but when it does—whew! 🔥
Overall, this was an engaging and enjoyable read with great character growth, a strong heroine, and a redemption arc that actually works. I’ll definitely be checking out more from Laura Beth.

If you like big boys, age gaps and greys anatomy immediately go add this book to your list! Or if you like well written romance novels in general then this is the one for you!

The fact that Laura Beth has less than 2k on here blows my mind. Her writing is so addicting and amazing and I need you all to go read her books.

Colter motherf*ing Andrews 🥵🥵 like that man can get it. When she first described him with his THICK thighs I was like yes please you can join my list of book boyfriends! You may or may not be able to tell from pictures I post but Nate my fiance is massive so big boys representation in books is so important to me because I feel like big men are so misrepresented. All the men are over 6ft but where are all the men who fill doorways?

Annaliese quickly became one of my favorite FMCs. Her nickname Sparky suits her so well. She was sassy, extremely talented and tenacious and the way she brought Colt to his knees made me love her even more. I love the chronic illness rep in this in the form of her having Type 1 Diabetes. You could tell this book was extremely well researched and it showed in every scene. Also for all you lovers of the hurt/care trope there’s such a good scene where he takes care of her after a diabetic episode and omg I was swooning.

The surgery and medical scenes in this book were so well done that multiple times I had to pull out Google to understand . I felt like I was actually watching a medical show at times and I love that so much.

I can’t end this review without mentioning my dislike and disdain for her misogynistic father. Like that man can go die in a hole somewhere and I hope he gets a random std from one of his affairs.

All in all I absolutely loved this book and it was easily 5 stars for me! It comes out May 28th and will be available on KU so you have no excuse not to go read it

DR. COLTER ANDREWS, THE MAN THAT YOU ARE.

This book! THIS. BOOK. Absolutely amazing and emotional. Laura Beth, you have done it again 👏🏻
The banter? The tension? The character development? EVERYTHING.
Annaliese Keeton and Colter Andrews were just amazing, I fear they may be my new favorite couple from Laura.

Colt did not stand a chance once he met Annaliese, the daughter of his mentor, Dr. Richard Keeton. His job is to force her to reconsider a different specialty other than surgery, but the woman he meets is not like the one Richard describes (side note: we do not like Richard. F*ck him). Annaliese is strong, smart, and witty, and he finds himself hopelessly falling for her. The woman he shouldn't want and can't have. His cold and grumpy exterior melts around her, and Annaliese develops a crush on him too, loving to tease him but knowing she can't cross that line. Slowly, Colt begins to learn his mentor isn't what he thought he was, and this absolutely broke my heart. The man who taught him so much was nothing but manipulative, only after what was best for him.
The representation in this book is incredible. Annaliese is a type 1 diabetic and the way Colt cared for her once he found out 🫠 what a man honestly. The food, the candies, the constant check-ins before starting work for the day. THE CARETAKING SCENE. And Colt, oh my gosh. Gone through so much when growing up, struggling with his mental health, dealing with depression and grief.
Annie and Colt’s relationship was emotional and so healing 🥹 there was no shame, no judgment. They wanted to take care of each other. They found their home within each other, and it was heartwarming and heartbreaking. I almost cried.

GO READ THIS WHEN IT COMES OUT ON MAY 28TH!!!

The fact that my obsession with the Pitt and the release of a new Laura Beth medical romance coincided with each other is *chef’s kiss* perfectionnn.

This story sucked me in immediately! I loved the banter, and it was so full of emotion as well! Laura always manages to pull me in and get me so attached to her characters. I can’t get enough of Colt only being soft for Annie 🥹 the way he helps her grow and refuses to hold her back made me love him all the more.

Annaliese was a badass. I love her growth in this book, and I felt like the discussions of past trauma and chronic illness were really well done.

If you’re looking for an age gap, surgeon romance full of banter and emotion, definitely pick this one up!

4.5 rounded up

I read this book so fast and loved every minute of it. The pacing was great, I was invested in the characters (except Richard, he sucks), and really wanted to see their HEA. Annaliese’s sass had me sucked right in. She would fit in perfectly with the rest of the Grace General girls. A Laura Beth man never disappoints, and Colter definitely delivered. He is a total alpha-roll, only soft for his Annie, who is absolutely worthy of his affections. And the mouth on that man would make any woman weak. I love the way Laura writes her FMCs: feisty, smart, confident, brave, yet vulnerable. Colt and Annaliese were both able to heal from their traumatic childhoods with each other. This was a slow burn, but we were given glimpses of time passed that made the growth of their relationship feel more genuine. And the spice was HOTTTTTTT! There was plenty of genuine emotion woven in, and I can’t think of anything I would have wanted more of and didn’t get.

I received an eARC from the author.

4.5 Stars for The Bind.
I was Lucky enough to Read this as an Advanced Reader.
This wonderfully told story centres around 2nd Year Surgical Resident Annaliese and Attending Dr Colter Andrews.
Annaliese doesn't want to be at Grace General, she wanted to continue her residency overseas on philanthropic adventures but unfortunately her funding fell through so now shes at Grace General where she is going to be mentored by Dr Colter Andrews.
Immediately they get off on the wrong foot and Annaliese isn't the meek girl he was expecting. She's and absolute Firecracker and he is almost instantly obsessed.
This story is a medical workplace romance with Age gap and is told wonderfully and has some nice spicy scenes in there which aren't done to death so it kept me in the story. I got into it straight away and wanted to know what happens, so it kept me gripped until the end.

ARC REVIEW

🌶️🌶️

A HUGE thanks to Laura Beth for sending me a copy of her book prior to the release date. I LOVED it. This was a quick read and I would have finished it one sitting if work hadn’t gotten in the way.

I LOVED these two character together. Colter and Annie (her nickname) are soul mates and they needed to find their silver lining - which is references periodically through the book. Annie has an emotionally abusive and manipulative father, who also happens to be her and Colter’s boss. Colter is manipulated into trying to sabotage Annie’s career, which he quickly discovers is ridiculous.

The two characters grow so much together. The first half of the book has you screaming “JUST DO IT ALREADY”. The tension is so good. I loved the epilogues, but I wish we could have seen just a little more of what the two of them would have looked like in the future.

Definitely get this on your TBR.

I couldn’t put this book down. The Bind by Laura Beth is everything I didn’t know I needed! Raw, emotional, and completely unforgettable.

Colter might just be her most swoon worthy character yet. His grumpy, guarded vibe paired with such a beautifully written mental health journey had me rooting for him from the start. And Annaliese? Strong, snarky, and layered in all the best ways.

But what truly broke me open was the Type 1 diabetic rep. As someone living with T1D, I’ve never felt so seen in a story. It wasn’t treated as a plot device. It was real and honest and full of heart. I cried, not because it was sad, but because it was the first time I saw my experience reflected so clearly.

Throw in an age gap, forbidden workplace romance, and “the bind” moments, and you’ve got a book that’s going to live rent-free in my heart for a long time.

If you love emotional slow burns with real depth and unforgettable characters, you need to read this one!

5⭐️3🌶️ Dr. Colter + Annaliese

There is a certain quality to Laura Beth’s books that I have come to expect and she more than delivered with this one. She has such an ability to create characters that feel so real with so much depth but are also really fun. Basically if you love Grey’s Anatomy you will ABSOLUTELY love anything Laura Beth writes!

Annaliese is a fierce and sassy badass. I loved her feisty character so much. Dr. Colter is a broody playboy that could give zero f’s about any woman he meets, until Annaliese, his boss’s daughter. Their story is so good, so fun, and so sexy. I almost NEVER read a story more than once but this is one I was excited to re-read and I actually enjoyed it even more the second time around.

Everyone, go read this book!
