Powerfully Pucked: A Curvy Girl Hockey Romcom

Rate this book
How do I let my besties get me into such random messes?

Wake up to the power being out.
Shower in the freezing cold water under the light of a flashlight.
Late to work.
Have to work my department alone.
Send my boss a raunchy love poem by accident.
And at lunch, I spill coffee all over the boss' son and the stunningly gorgeous man he's with.

How does this get worse, you ask?

I'm a PR rep for the Stickville Danglers Hockey team, and so are my two best friends. Well, one of them has a crush on a player, so he signs all three of us up for his new gym program. Why did I have to get included?

The only exercise I like to do is in bed, thanks very much.

But then I see him. Sam. Forward for the Stickville Danglers. The same gorgeous guy whose coffee I spilled all over the day before and called a name I won't repeat here.

Can this get any worse?

(The Stickville Danglers Hockey Romcoms are interconnected standalones and can be read in any order.)

This was a fun story, I loved the characters and that the FMC was curvy. There were some inconsistencies that drove me a little nuts at one point, so 4 stars instead of 5

DNF at 20% as the MCs have only just met at 1/5 of the way into a 165-page novella, and a side character who barely knows the FMC is talking about her as if he’s been her bestie for years, and barely anything has happened… oh and so far I feel the office manager has been described more than the MCs, as all I know is that the FMC has blonde curls, while the MMC is tall with “silky, dark hair”, good-looking and an accent that is “maybe British… but not Asian at all”… umm…
It doesn’t bode well…

There were so many inconsistencies and typos in this book that it became impossible to treat it seriously. Is MMC a goalie? yes and then suddenly no. Is the FMC wearing a dress or a pair of jeans? yes, apparently both (or maybe neither? who knows). The MMC has two different last names. The side character who barely knows the FMC shares thorough analysis of her past relationship history with the MMC. And there are sooo many pages detailing the workouts! Yhhh… The one good thing was the advice the FMC got from her friends when she was spiraling.

This book should have never been published as it is now. It has potential, but it’s clearly unfinished.

This was a 2.5 ⭐️ read for me but rounded up since it was somewhat captivating for me!

I didn’t necessarily love that this was advertised as a hockey romance but most of their interactions were in the gym with the MMC as her trainer. The FMC wasn’t super tolerable and I felt she was kind of a “woe is me” girl.

This feels too much like it's borrowing a lot from Coastal Coconuts, a PR plus size FMC that's representing the sports team the MMC is on.

there's one scene where they kiss and she says they're going to try it and then the next chapter he's struggling with working up the nerve to ask her out?
