Need More Wisdom? Then Get This Book

For many years Grandpa Dave Fessenden has been reading the Book of Proverbs. Because the book has 31 chapters, you can read one chapter each day in a month. Fessenden encouraged his grandson to do this reading process with him. Each day, he sensa an email to his grandson highlighting some aspect of the particular chapter.

For example, about Proverbs 12, Fessenden writes, “I really like the first verse: “Anyone who loves learning accepts being corrected. But a person who lates being corrected is stupid.” You notice it doesn’t say we have to love being corrected—it says we should accept correction. Big difference! We may love learning, but nobody likes being corrected, but if we’re wise we will appreciate it.” (Page 28)

I love how Fessenden incorporated his imperfect daily life into these entries. Sometimes he writes late in the day. Other times he was catching up because he missed a day—yet he kept up the pattern for the entire book. You can give this book to a young person or go through it yourself and learn a great deal about Proverbs. HOW TO BE A WISE GUY is a terrific resource and I enjoyed reading this book.
