Ford

My brain is hard-wired to hockey. To train hard, to win, to be the best. I don’t date, I basically live and breathe hockey and I plan everything. Until I find a newborn baby outside my apartment. It’s like something out of a movie, except she’s mine and this is my life. I panic, the only person I know who can help is my neighbor Andi. But in doing so, I risk inviting her into my life. So far she’s just been a friend, but I’m out of my depth and losing control. Now with each late night together, we feel like a family and I can see the lines blurring.

Andi

I have no idea how to look after a baby. But Ford has always come through for me. So now it’s my turn to help. It’s only temporary. I know Ford is a pin-up, but I’ve never been attracted to him…until now. Seeing him holding his tiny daughter is melting my heart. I thought I had no interest in love and settling down, but I’m catching feelings. I just know this set-up won’t last forever, but I’m scared of what will happen when things go back to normal...

Keeping the Score was an humorous and emotional read.

This is Ford and Andi's story, from neighbours and friends to lovers and Family.
Ford and Andi don't want to be in a serious relationship for different reasons, but they really care for each other as friends, until the day they unexpectedly meet the most gorgeous baby. Tilly will throw them for a loop and they will end up getting close and attached to each other.

Andi and Ford are great characters. They understand each other, they don't judge the other, they are lovely and amusing together.
Ford growth was fascinating. I loved how he slowly changes in order to accommodate his little baby into his life. I also liked how Andi puts down her walls to make room for Tilly and Ford, and how she faces her fears to be betrayed again.

Kelly Jamieson wrote a very good story, with so much heart. I have smiled, cried and cooed over her words.

I can't wait to se what comes next from this author.

My Initial Thoughts
This is my second book by Kelly and I was looking forward to reading a sports romance for a change. And the blurb with the tropes caught my attention straight away, single dad, friends to lovers. I knew I was going to enjoy this. Not to mention the cover!
Plot
I really enjoyed the plot and the slow burn of the plot really added to the flare of the story. Towards the end I felt myself crying and so emotional over things that was happening. I enjoyed the mental health rep, which I have came to love about Kelly’s writing. I enjoyed how both MCs found a sense of peace with each other, even from the beginning. Watching Ford becoming a dad.. well reading.. it just pulls at all your heart strings. There was moments I was laughing so hard, as well as crying. I really enjoyed every part of the plot.
Characters
I really enjoyed how different Ford was, how everything impacts him and his routine to try keep his own mind at ease. Tilly and Andi at the hockey game melted my heart!
The characters really do develop in such a strong way from start to finish. I really did enjoy seeing the growth of them both. And Willa, that just broke me. Every part.
Recommend
If you are looking for a sports romance and a single dad.. look no further than Ford and Ice Hockey.
Favourite Quote
“Love isn’t all hugs and kisses and puppies and kittens. It’s hard. It’s vulnerable. It’s sacrifice. It’s hurting when someone else hurts. Because of all those things, it take courage to love.”
Favourite Chapter/s
My favourite chapters were 7, 9, 21,22,25, 30 and 32. So just a few.
Summed up in one sentence
The perfect slow burn for falling in love as a parent, friend and playing ice hockey.
Overall Wrap up
I really enjoyed this, and I plan to go back to book 1 so I can read Benny and Mabel’s story as the team is such a big thing throughout the book. I really loved how the struggles of becoming a parent are documented so perfectly. I loved the mental health part of the story and the plot was just perfect.

I absolutely love Ford and Andi! Their friendship and bond is so beautiful and I love that Andi steps in and helps Ford in his time of need!

What was a crazy situation turns out to be the most absolute blessing and was life changing for them both. Ford stepped up in a huge way and the growth that you get to “see” and experience with them both had me reading this book in one sitting.

Their steamy moments are absolutely fire and will have you melting. I loved this story so much. It was more emotional than I anticipated and I couldn’t get enough.

⭐️⭐️⭐️

A hockey romance and single parent? Count me in! There was never a dull moment reading this. The beginning was a bit slow, but the more I read, the more I couldn’t put it down.

We immediately get Ford’s point of view, and let me tell you, this man and his inner thoughts had me laughing out loud. His dress sense was also great – most books feature men in bland clothes, but Ford was all about his colours and patterns, even if they didn’t match. I liked seeing a mmc who looked a bit different than the normal.
Ford’s upbringing was very different from most kids, which later caused him some struggles. However, I still loved the little bit we saw of his parents. His mother seemed to always know the right things to say.

Andi is a determined girl who knows what she wants. She may have had some struggles putting herself first, but she eventually got there. Despite all that, she still managed to care for those around her, showing them a huge amount of love. Despite all the challenges, she managed to run a whole business.

I must admit, the miscommunication between the two characters frustrated me. They both had thoughts and misconceptions about each other throughout the book but never felt comfortable expressing them openly. However, I suppose if they hadn’t held these thoughts back, the book would have been significantly shorter, and I would have disliked that more.

The author’s little twist at the end really got me. Willa deserved so much more in life than what she was dealt with.

As a side note, I would love to read an Alfie book. There was so much about him revealed in this book, and I would love to see him get his happily ever after.

Overall, it wasn’t an absolute masterpiece, but it is something I still really enjoyed reading and wanted to keep reading. I’d love to see books about the other characters we saw in this, and I hope we’ll get to see them in the future.
Happy Reading.

The new Jersey storm book 2.
This was a really good read once I got into it. I did like Ford. Especially how he was and how he dressed. I liked Andi too. I loved the chemistry between them. Baby Mathilda was so cute. I read this book in two sittings. Once I got into it I couldn't put it down. I liked the writing style and the story. I did like Alfie. I do hope we have a book on him soon.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book, given to me by Boldwood Books via Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A wonderful friends-to-lovers story, “Keeping the Score”, by Kelly Jamieson, features two amazing lead characters who get involved in a relationship full of affection, then love, humor and tenderness.
The chemistry and attraction between Ford and Andi blend with genuine fondness and enjoying each other's company.
Ford and his love of planning, organizing and order along with his fierce loyalty and devotion make him such an enticing hero.
I also loved Andi, and how she adapted so well to a new reality to which she thought she wasn’t prepared at all.
I enjoyed how the author wrote about Ford’s obsessions and superstions and how they, along with the need for order and routine, are a part of his personality, a consequence of his upbringing, and not a clinical condition.
The scenes and dialogue between the main characters and with baby Mathilda are lively, funny and endearing and show how both are so giving, kind and tender despite assuming the opposite.
There is so much love for the baby, who becomes the chore and the center of their lives so naturally.
Some scenes made me laugh, but there’s also loss and grief in the story.
I also appreciated how the leads’ jobs are a part of the story and enjoyed the secondary characters.

Ice Hockey romance time! Oh I loved this. It made me smile a lot. There's something about an Ice Hockey goalie that's intriguing and this delivered!!

The cover was okay. The torso and chin was okay. I loved the ice hockey stick casually draped over the shoulder. It's colours popped and it was a good design.

The book is written well and flowed nicely. The descriptions were on point for the genre. May have a blushed just a wee bit!!! Excellent job, Kelly!

I adored the characters and the characterisation was strong. Ford is out goalie. I liked him a lot and enjoyed watching him grow as a man. Andi was a good lady but she had a lot of heartache in her past. I'm glad she had Ford. I loved their evolution of their story. Wee Tilly was such a beautiful baby.

The book is written in first person. It's in a dual POV format. From Andi and Ford's perspectives. This always works so no complaints!

I really loved this. Although it's part of the series, you can definitely read it as a standalone too. I can't recommend it enough!

I had read the first book in this series, Crossing the Line, and loved it so I was very excited when Boldwood Books reached out to me about this book. This has so many tropes I love - hockey romance, single dad, friends to lovers - and I also loved reading about how Andi and Ford’s spicy and emotional relationship developed. It also doesn’t hurt that Ford’s unexpected daughter, Tilly, is adorable and that she makes Andi and Ford that much closer. I hadn’t realized until now that the author, Kelly Jamieson, is a well known and best-selling sports romance author and she’s written many hockey romances before. Thank you to Kelly Jamieson and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read Keeping the Score early!

3.5 stars. single dad , friends to lovers romance. Good plot decent hockey coverage, I really don't like it when they make big misses with the sport, but none here!

some light brush on mental health issues nothing triggering though. And of course my least liked plot device miscommunication. or if you're Andi and Ford zero communication.

quick fun summer read!

I have mixed feelings about this one.
There were some parts I really enjoyed- hence the 2 stars- but overall it wasn’t really for me.
I struggled to connect with either main character and felt that for a lot of the book Ford was just using Andi as convenient child care, that he completely took for granted. She felt she owed him it but it wasn’t ever really clear why, and she went way above and beyond just helping occasionally.
I didn’t see the twist near the end coming and would have liked a trigger warning for it, so I hope there is one in the final published book (though I appreciate it is also a spoiler) but I did like that it explained the biological mother’s actions that for most of the book didn’t make any sense.
The ending was nice, and I’m intrigued by Smitty and the pop star.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC.

Wow, just wow! Let me preface this review with a note that I’ve been reading Kelly Jamieson for well over a decade. I’ve loved a lot of her work, but Keeping the Score is one of her best. I had to sit with this book awhile after reading it to write this review and get my thoughts straight because this book just hit so many marks perfectly.

A singularly focused professional hockey goalie’s life is turned upside down when a one night stand tracks him down and announces that she needs him to care for the daughter he didn’t know about while she goes to North Dakota to take care of her parents who were severely injured in a car accident. When I say singularly focused, I mean that Ford has done everything to be the best goalie he can be. He trains hours daily with specialized trainers, he meditates, he does eye exercises to improve seeing the puck, and he has no intention of having a significant other or anyone who gets in the way of his career. Ford also has many idiosyncrasies that stem from his need for control after growing up in an environment where there weren’t any rules. He has schedules, his schedules have schedules, and he insists on doing everything himself despite having the funds to hire out things that would give him more time to pursue other interests. Ms. Jamieson did an amazing job of letting the reader see inside Ford’s head and how hard life can be for him when things do not happen according to his plan. Having a three month old dropped off is not in his plan. At first Ford is way over his head with Matilda (Tilly), but with the help of his neighbor, Andi, he tackles fatherhood with the same intensity he does with everything else that’s important to him.

Andi and Ford have been friends and neighbors ever since she and her now ex-husband moved into the building. I loved that Andi got Ford and more than that she got him to open up about his life, his training, his fears, and his insecurities. Starting her own business after a messy divorce that involved her ex-husband and her co-worker; she works long hours and gives her all to her clients. Despite never wanting children like Ford, Andi steps up to get him through the first few days and again after he fires the first nanny he hires. It enjoyed watching these two grow closer as they fall hopelessly in love with Tilly. My one complaint about this book is I don’t feel like we got to know Andi as well as Ford. I’d like to know why she was so good at getting Ford to open up and talk and helping him to see things from a different perspective. Maybe that was just her nature, or growing up with parents who are educators, or maybe she was just super empathetic; no matter I found her ability fascinating.

I loved these two together despite their differences and even when they had moments where they were unsure. One thing that was certain is they both loved Tilly and her needs always came first with them both. I was also stunned when Tilly’s birth mom returned and the twist that came with it.

Keeping The Score was an emotional, character driven story that I found impossible to put down. Once again Ms. Jamieson gave readers a story that had a rich plot, wonderful characters, and while the romance wasn’t typical it was perfect for Ford and Andi.

KEEPING THE SCORE is the second instalment in Kelly Jamieson’s contemporary, adult THE NEW JERSEY STORM erotic, hockey romance series, a spin off from the author’s BEAR’s Hockey series. This is New Jersey Storm goaltender Ford Archibald, and thirty year old business woman Andi Marsh’ story line. KEEPING THE SCORE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Ford and Andi) KEEPING THE SCORE follows in the wake of the arrival of the baby Ford knew nothing about. Approximately one year earlier, Ford Archibald had a one-night stand, and with the knock on his door, Ford discovered he was a father, and the child’s mother had an emergency back home. With the help of his neighbor Andi Marsh, Ford would learn to navigate the life of a single father, a position he never wanted and struggled to accept. Andi Marsh is a divorcee whose husband cheated with her best friend. Never having thought about raising a child, Andi is thrust into a world she knows nothing about but a world that is quickly becoming her norm.

The world building focuses on Andi and Ford’s introduction to parenthood: nothing will ever be the same, and the fall-out is about to affect not only their personal lives but their careers as well. As the weeks turn into months, Andi and Ford begin to struggle with the possibility of losing the child they had grown to love but another visit with the child’s mother is about to bring everything into perspective .Ford is a perfectionist, almost compulsive in his need for schedules and precision, and in this, a baby is not conducive to the world in which he lives.

The relationship between Andi and Ford begins as neighbors and friends. When Andi asks Ford to be her plus-one at a business event, Andi will come face to face with her past, and the reality of what was will hit her hard. Andi never thought she would again fall in love but their time together felt more like a family than a burden or job. The $ex scenes are passionate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and charismatic secondary and supporting characters including most of Ford’s New Jersey Storm teammates. We are introduced to both Ford and Andi’s parents, as well as Andi’s ex Trevor, and his new girlfriend Haven Gray.

KEEPING THE SCORE is a story of secrets and lies, family and friendships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is heart breaking and emotional; the romance is alluring; the characters are determined and dynamic.

Keeping the Score is the new release by author Kelly Jamieson. This is an awesome friends-to-lovers story that is pure joy to read.

Ford is a professional hockey player that is completely devoted to his career, not leaving him much time for anything else. All of that changes when her finds out that he has a daughter from a one night stand a year ago. On top of learning that, he needs to somehow manage to take care of her for a few months. He thinks he has found a way to manage it all...if he can convince his friend and neighbor to help him.

Andi has sworn off men after her husband cheated on her and their marriage came to an end. Needless to say, her self-esteem is at an all-time low and it will be a long time before she trusts any man again. However, when her friend Ford pleads with her to help him, she can't say no to him. What she doesn't expect is to slowly see him as more than a friend. Can she really trust giving her heart to another pro athlete?

The story that unfolds is perfectly told and reads at a great pace. The story pulls you in immediately because you want to see how it all plays out. The story is full of heart, comedic scenes, witty banter and taking chances. Along the way, there are also some unexpected twists and turns.

The characters are well-developed and easy to relate to. Ford is a bit different from the typical lead character, which I truly enjoyed. He had a different kind of upbringing, which plays a role in how structured his adult life is. He is career driven, and has some quirks that I found to be quite interesting. He is also a man with a sense of humor, and I lost count of how many times I laughed at his thoughts. As for Andi, I was able to completely relate to her because I know the devastation felt when cheated on, and the insecurites that follow afterwards.

The friends-to-lovers aspect wasn't immediate, which makes it more fun to follow the progression. The chemistry between them is undeniable, but both are guarded for various reasons. The interactions and banter between them when trying to navigate taking care of baby Matilda are hilarious. I laughed out loud more than once.

Overall, this is just a really well-written story with strong and relatable characters. Following the journey of Ford, Andi and baby Matilda was definitely an adventure! Kelly Jamieson always hits the perfect balance between humor, heat and heart! I absolutely loved Keeping the Score and I will be patiently waiting for her next story!

I received an ARC from Kelly Jamieson and Boldwood Books. My views are my own and are in no way influenced by anyone else.

5 stars. Loved this!

After reading the first of this series, I was so happy to receive the ARC for the second part of the series. And oh boy I loved this even more than the first part!

This had a different take on the surprise baby trope. Ford has to care for his baby who he didn't know existed. He doesn't know anything about babies, and neither does his neighbor Andi. However these two have to take care of the baby. We also see a lot of Ford's teammates who undoubtedly will have their own books later.

This made me feel both sad and happy. I literally had tears in my eyes at one part. I love how this series is spicy and fun but also handles mental health themes and sadness, and these themes are handled well.

WHAT I LIKED: I loved Ford and Andi together. It was well described how they didn't want the baby at first but how they both very quickly started to love Matilda. I liked how they had some problems with communication but they understood how important it is to talk!

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE: I have to admit that there was nothing too irritating, it was overall a very good book!

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Pov: dual, 1st person
Heat: open doors
Pacing: slowburnish
Communication: mostly healthy communication
Third act:
Ending:

Main characters:
* Alpha Hero
* Cinnamon roll hero
* Friends to lovers
* Millionaire
* Single parent

What?
* Dirty talk
* Forced proximity
* Found family
* Sports romance: hockey

Where?
* New Jersey

Drama?
* Surprise baby

Other vibes:
* Mental health rep
* ”We’re just friends”

A perfect read for hockey romance lovers!
Add a baby into the mix, and the story gets even more heartwarming—and a little chaotic!
Ford is a hockey star goalie who has been working extremely hard over the summer to improve his game. He’s got his quirks and superstitions and follows a strict routine to stay calm and composed. Growing up, his life was unpredictable due to his parents’ free-spirited lifestyle, which created challenges for him. Now, he thrives on order and structure just to get by.
Andi is divorced and living a happy, independent life with her newly established business. Her ex-husband cheated on her and left her for a friend. She had invested a lot in that relationship, but he still betrayed her. Thankfully, she's now in a good place emotionally and professionally.
Then, one day, Ford is unexpectedly left with baby Matilda. Her mother, Willow, has to leave town to care for her seriously injured parents. Suddenly, this very scheduled man is responsible for a four-month-old baby. Ford knows nothing about babies—and he never wanted one.
Andi, Ford’s neighbour, offers to help. Both are as clueless as can be when it comes to taking care of a baby. They start spending more time together with Matilda—nicknamed Tilly. Tilly brings chaos to Ford’s perfectly structured life and disrupts Andi’s peaceful routine in the best way.
The story revolves around Ford’s passion for hockey, his growing feelings for Andi, and how baby Tilly slowly becomes the heart of it all.
Grab your copy to see how they navigate unexpected parenthood during Ford’s busy hockey season and Andi’s demanding client meetings. Though Andi feels compelled to help Ford—especially since he supported her during her divorce—she can’t ignore the budding connection between them.
Can this little baby bridge the gap and turn them into a family?
Or will everything go back to how it was once Willow returns?

Well, this is my first Kelly Jamieson book, and I WILL be coming back for more!
I love a sports romance. I have read so many hockey romances, and I never get tired of them.
Topes: single Dad, the growth of a parent, neighbors to lovers, instant parent from one night stand, child abandoned by biological Mother, and so much more.
The plot was well structured. It was so heartwarming, and Kelly did a great job of balancing romance with actual plot! The pace of the book was well done.
The characters (Andi and Ford) were well-developed, and I was able to connect with them. The chemistry was there, and I fell in love with them.
I had not read the first book, and I was able to pick this book up and read it as a stand-alone without feeling like I was missing something.
To give a little snippet without too many spoilers, Ford ends up being left with his daughter whom he did not know about, as she was the result of a one-night stand. Ford is desperate, not knowing what to do because Ford is a man who lives a very routine-driven and structured life, so to have his kid dropped off puts quite a bit of chaos into his day-to-day. Enter his next-door neighbor, Andi, whom he convinces to help him. There is hilarious awkwardness with the child and the two MCs. Together comes the story of learning to care for a child.
During learning how to care for baby Mathilda, Andi and Ford begin to fall for one another. Their romance was relatable for the majority of the book, and their chemistry was great!
I felt so many emotions during the reading of this book, and that is my favorite thing! I was happy, cozy, crying at some points, and it hit all my feels!
I think this deserves to be added to your summer 2025 TBR immediately.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Kelly Jamieson for the opportunity to review this ARC!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the digital ARC!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again—I love hockey romance books. I have no idea why, as I've never watched a game, but they just scratch an itch for me.

This story features the classic single dad trope, only Ford quite literally gets a baby dumped on him and turns him into a single dad overnight. Before this, his world was carefully structured for control with strict routines that included certain days for cleaning certain rooms. As a goalie, a lot of this gets written off as general goalie quirks from others, and thankfully, no one finds him too odd. But his world gets shattered with the arrival of his baby daughter, Matilda - babies are notorious for ruining routines!

He enlists the help of his neighbour, Andi, which is hilarious as neither of them ever wanted kids, and they both act awkward around Matilda. But there's plenty of character growth throughout this book, with them naturally becoming great parents and loving little Tilly with all their heart. This little girl not only brings Andi and Ford together but also helps to encourage them both to grow and evolve as people who aren't as rigid with their lives.

Ford's teammates were so sweet, and I loved how they all immediately jumped in with help, both physical and verbal, for him and Tilly! Despite what Ford initially thought, he had a found family that rallied around him to help him care for this little girl, who was suddenly his world.

Overall, this was quite a fun and easy read. My only complaint is that I don't like the cover, but that obviously has nothing to do with the story itself!

My Final Say: This romance novel had some serious steam. It was playful, sexy, sad, tense, and sweet all rolled into one gigantic sigh. The characters were likable and imperfect. They matched well. Tilly was a doll. Willa, well, her story was heartbreaking, wasn't it? The third act news was devastating. It gutted me. It was the emotional punch I needed. All in all, I really liked this story.

Other: Readers who enjoy books by Marni Mann, Piper Rayne, and Tessa Bailey should like this one.

I love a good single dad story and this did not disappoint. Ford never wanted kids and has always been upfront with the women he is with. He had parents that loved him and supported him in his hockey career, but he never had boundaries. He is, in his own words, self centered and doesn’t have time or the patience for kids. Plus he is a neat freak. When a woman he was with shows up with a baby and tells him he is the dad, and she needs to leave the baby with him to take care of her parents, he is thrown for a loop.

Andi is Ford’s neighbor and they are friends. She is fresh off a divorce from her husband of years, so she isn’t looking for a serious relationship. She asks him for a favor and he accepts. Their banter over his wardrobe is hilarious, but he steps up. When he asks her for help with his newfound baby, she is hesitant, but can’t turn him down because she sees the pleading and panic in his eyes.

Being able to see the growth of the characters is fantastic. Ford learned a lot about himself and it was really nice seeing him realize that he was looking at certain things incorrectly. I also enjoyed seeing Andi develop into a fantastic person. I didn’t like her at first, for some reason, but seeing her interactions with the baby and Ford helped me change my opinion. I honestly think they brought out the best in each other.

I laughed a lot while reading this book, but there were some sad moments that had me crying as well. When his ex comes back for the baby my heart broke for everyone involved. I can’t wait for more in this series. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

Book 2 in the New Jersey Storm series! If you love a hot hockey romance, you'll love this series. Good plot, great characters and lots of emotion.

Ford is the goalie for the Storm and as like any goalie, he has a lot of quirks. A lot of Ford's idiosyncrasies stem from his childhood but he has learned to deal with the best he can with therapy, meditation and Taekwondo. He also feels that these quirks make him a little unlovable and also a bit selfish. He has no desire for a girlfriend or family; his first and only love is hockey. However, when a one night stand from a year ago drops a tiny baby at his doorstep, he doesn't have much choice but to step up. In his panic, he enlists the help of his neighbor and friend Andi. Since she works from home, she is somewhat able to help Ford since he has a crazy schedule with hockey. However, she also is very focused on her career and has no desire for kids. This is merely to help Ford out since he has helped her so much since her divorce. The best laid plans never go the way they should. As the two take care of Tilly, both fall in love with her and at the same time their relationship takes a change. It started as friends, moved to friends with benefits but could it be more? Both Andi and Ford have their issues with relationship but both are perfect for each other it seems. But can they get enough gumption to tell the other? And what will happen when Tilly's mother returns for her?

I really enjoyed Ford and all his quirks. Great development of him as a character. And Andi complements him well.

This is book two in the Storm Hockey series, and I loved getting to know Ford and Andi. Neighbors-to-lovers romances always warm my soul! While this book can be read as a standalone, there are fun cameos from characters in previous books.
Ford is a goalie with a lot of quirks—he thrives on routine and doesn’t handle change well. That is, until an adorable little girl is left in his care by a one-night stand, forcing him to learn to adapt to a completely different life overnight. Ford doesn’t know the first thing about babies and never imagined himself as a father. That’s where Andi comes in.

Ford and Andi have been neighbors and friends for a while—the kind of neighbors everyone dreams of. Their relationship was purely platonic, built on easygoing companionship, helping each other with small things, and offering a sense of comfort and familiarity. Andi is finally getting her life back on track after a surprising divorce, focusing on no-strings flings and building her dream business. She definitely isn’t looking for a relationship—and certainly not ready to take on a child.

But when Ford shows up on her doorstep, desperate and overwhelmed, Andi can’t turn him away. And that’s where the fun begins. Together, they figure out how to care for little Mathilda, and as they do, their friendship naturally starts to shift into something more.

I loved how real and relatable their romance felt—especially the true-to-life moments during their intimate scenes. It made the characters even more authentic. I found myself cheering them on as they leaned on each other in unexpected ways. There were even moments when I cried right alongside them, feeling every twist and turn in their story.

This is a beautifully written, heartwarming surprise single-dad hockey romance that will hit you right in the feels. Definitely add it to your TBR list!

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for allowing me the opportunity to read this book.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC!

I really enjoyed this book! The book follows Andi and her pro hockey goalie neighbor Ford after Andi’s break up with her pro baseball player fiancé. When her fiancé cheats on her, Andi begins to rely on Ford for things around her apartment and when Ford has the daughter he didn’t know about dropped off by her mom for an undisclosed amount of time, it is his turn to rely on Andi for help. Neither ever wanted kids but they came together to take care of his daughter. They begin completely lost but learn how to be parents together.

As they take care of Ford’s daughter, they get to know each other more and begin to develop feelings. It starts as a friends with benefits situation but feelings continue to grow. It was so nice seeing them come together and fall in love in that way, and the characters had really nice chemistry that kept me rooting for them. Honestly, this book had me bawling at one point (which I didn’t expect at all) and it was a surprisingly emotional journey reading it.

I wish I had realized this was book two in a series that can be read as stand alone, as I generally enjoy reading whole stand alone series in order to get the references in later books and I believe the couple from book one made quite a few appearances in this, but I’m only assuming who they are. I definitely plan to read the first book and I hope I enjoy it as much as I did this!

A soft, sweet, single dad x neighbour romance.

This was a different take on the single dad trope which I enjoyed, rather than the typical style. Following Ford Archibald, navigating his meticulously constructed life and career, to then being thrust into fatherhood -rather unexpectedly- was an interesting read, working through new struggles he had never anticipated. Andi, our FMC, is a newly divorced woman intent on living her best life now she’s not tied down. Plot twist, she falls in love with both dad and baby.

The premise had plenty of promise with sweet moments with the child, emotional baggage, and a slow-burning proximity that should’ve sparked. But unfortunately, I struggled to connect with the characters, and the chemistry between the leads felt more lukewarm than electric.

That being said, the final plot twist was genuinely heart-wrenching and added emotional depth to the story. It felt like the narrative finally found its stride, pulling the characters into sharper focus and effectively pushing them toward growth. While I wasn’t fully invested in the romance, the twist gave the story weight and meaning, leading to a satisfying HEA that wrapped things up nicely and left me feeling warm inside.

Perfect for readers who love:
✅ Low-angst, slow-burn romance
✅ Single dad trope with sweet kid moments
✅ Quiet emotional arcs
✅ Heartfelt endings with a touch of bittersweet realism

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really loved this hockey romance between slightly obsessive, schedule-driven professional goalie Ford and his next door neighbor Andi. The book definitely stands alone well, as I didn't read the first book in the series, but didn't feel lost in any way.

Ford and Andi have been neighbors and friends for several years in their condo building. Andi was previously married to a professional baseball player who cheated on her so she's wary of getting involved with another professional athlete, but she and Ford and JUST friends, right? When Ford learns he is a father and has to take charge of his 4 mo. old (adorable) baby girl, he of course, turns to Andi. Although she knows nothing about babies either and has had no desire to have children of her own, she pretty much upends her own life to help him out.

The sparks between them were real and palpable. Their friendship had always been easy so it makes sense that as they started spending time together in a pressure situation, they'd see each other in a whole new light. I loved the way they both stepped up to take care of little Tilly, putting her needs first with no hesitation and falling in love with her and with each other. There were some heavy moments in the book, but overall it was a heartwarming and happy romance. My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

I received a free ARC in exchange for an honest review, from Boldwood Books via Netgalley.

This is a spicy romance, though not overly spicy. I’d say a 2.5/3 out of 5 on the spicy scale. The story is a friends-to-lovers between Andi (who works in advertising/ marketing) and Ford (a professional hockey player) with topics of second chance at love and learning to accept ourselves for who we are.

For me, I found the leading characters were both well written and their relationship was full of mutual respect, affection, love and humour with real gender moments mixed in.

I loved the chemistry and attraction between Ford and Andi that blend with a genuine fondness for each other's company. Both characters including the supporting cast are well rounded and relatable, which you don’t often find in these genres.

I loved how the author captured Ford’s obsession with planning together with all of his superstitions, and actually how these were routed from his childhood. And I just love how the baby, Matilda didn’t follow his schedule, like, at all which made me laugh out loud at times. Mixed with the situation everyone seems to have found themselves in was also that of loss and grief, particularly in someone so young. Having lost my sister in law recently, these scenes had me bawling my eyes out.

Overall it was a really well rounded enjoyable read. I’ll definitely be reading the rest of the series after this.

I’ve been a fan of Kelly Jamieson’s books for several years and she’s always a one-click author for me. At the beginning of this book I was a little unsure what to think about the two main characters because they just didn’t strike me as potential love interests.

Ford is a different type of MMC with his strict routines and need for order and control. He initially came across being too self-centered on his career and goals to be a decent romantic partner. He was a good neighbor and casual friend to Andi, but I didn’t see much potential.

Then little Matilda/Tilly arrives and Ford’s entire life gets turned inside out. Andi reluctantly helps him and the two of them together are scary yet hilarious as they try to figure out how to take care of a baby. The storyline definitely clicked for me as Andi and Ford fall in love with Tilly. Their physical relationship and caring for Tilly grows a deep emotional connection between them.

The support Ford gets from his teammates is heartwarming and his growth as a friend and teammate is impressive. I loved his scene where he connects with Alfie.

The ending is so much more emotional than I anticipated and yanked on my heartstrings. In the end, I appreciated how much Andi and Ford grew and the development of their relationship.

I received a free ARC from the author, Boldwood Books and NeftGalley; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

I freaking LOVE this series. Now, I don't know if it is being called a series because these are definitely stand-alone books, but this is the second book referencing the same hockey team and players, and I absolutely adored it. Ford was an intriguing character during the first book, and I am so, so happy he got his own story with Keeping the Score.

Ford is a slightly neurotic, set-in-his-ways, goal-focused goalie who doesn't have time for true relationships or anything outside his highly regimented schedule. Until an adorable, and unexpected, baby is dropped on him. So now Ford's whole life is upturned, and he needs help. In comes Andi, his amazingly sweet neighbor who is getting over a recent divorce, like him, doesn't want kids or have time for relationships. Together, they navigate some emotionally shark-infested waters (IYKYK).

Beyond the fact that this is just a flat-out, well-written hockey trope romance, it also has heart. The characters are ones you want to invest in, and the story is well developed. I also love that there are characters and references from the previous book that are woven into this one. Both Ford and Andi are flawed, but not in an over-the-top way. Instead, their challenges are absolutely relatable, making this a binge-worthy book with an satisfying happy ending.

Keeping The Score is Ford and Andi’s, neighbour’s to lovers journey and it’s book two in the Storm Hockey Series. It’s a well written, entertaining and emotional story about friendships, love, trust and taking on what ever is thrown at you.
Ford is goalie for the Storm and up until now his focus has been his hockey career. He thrives on routine and doesn’t like change but little did he know that his life was about to be turned upside down when an adorable little girl comes into his life after a one night stand. Ford needs help, he knows nothing about babies so maybe his friendly neighbor can give him some pointers……
When Ford turns up on her doorstep panicking there is no way Andi could turn him away and that’s when this story gets real interesting.
Two people not looking for a relationship muddled their way through caring for a little girl who looks at them like they are the sun, the moon and the stars. It’s not long before feelings come into play but will they take a chance on love, will the twists and turns they didn’t see coming make or break them.
I loved everything about this book from the characters to the quirky routines and everything in between. I swooned, I smiled and I shed a tear as I joined Ford and Amelia on their journey.
I was given a copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley for my honest review.
